We have come here for the past few years on a regular basis. The physicians I have brought here to entertain have also enjoyed the high quality food and upscale atmosphere. If u want lobster this is the VERY best place . idk how the chef does it but its so good steamed not chewy at all I had a little one 6oz inside and had a to go 14oz I for sure thought it would be chewy but it wasn't and we eat an hour later. We came here because we got a coupon from our hotel (that we forgot to use), and were really impressed with the friendliness of the bartender and hostess while we waited for a table. Our waiter was friendly also (although he did bring us the wrong tab) and the steak was cooked perfectly, but the veggies that come with it (5 snap peas and a slice of tomato, in case you're wondering) were sad looking and hardly cooked. Silver Fox has always been one of my favorite special occasion restaurants. The food and service have always been excellent in the past. That said, my family and I were disappointed in the Mother's Day lunch last Sunday. Our server had a disheveled appearance and did not exhibit the professionalism of our previous servers. She seemed harried and was definitely not up to par with our previous Mother's Day servers. The food was just so so. On our previous Mother's Day visit, one of the options was the petite filet. This has always been a reliable, delicious choice. Sadly, this was not one of the options on the Mother's Day fixed price menu this year so we all had the beef tenderloin option. I was served the end of the tenderloin which was dry and tough. This was disappointing since I was the mother at the table. The side of potatoes was good but the asparagus stalks were huge. I prefer the skinnier kind. As for the desserts, it would have been nice to have had at least one chocolate option. The choices were a peanut butter cheesecake, a mandarin orange cake and the Texas pecan cake. The Texas pecan cake was alright but the whole time I was eating it I was thinking how much better it would be as a chocolate cake. After a company dinner at the Silver Fox, I was amazed & wanted to see if that was the exception, or the rule. Tonight I returned & it was just as good. This place serves the best steaks we have had for a long time. It is a bit pricey. Will go back again and again!!

We went here last year for our 24th anniversary and decided to go again this year for our 25th. As usual, the food was excellent! Then why you may ask am I only giving the restaurant 2 stars? Because of the service. When it was time to pay we told our server, Jessie, that we were paying with gift certificates that we got as an anniversary gift. I told the server that whatever the certificates didn't cover he could take out of an additional Visa gift card that I also gave him. Seems simple enough right? Wrong! The server came back kind of frustrated and said, loudly so others in the restaurant could hear, "I couldn't use the gift card because the balance left was only 91 cents and the system doesn't allow me to charge the card for less than a dollar." I said ok, and gave him a credit card instead. He went off and after a while came back and said, loudly again, "I still was not able to charge your credit card because the balance is less than a dollar. I guess I can try adding nine cents to make it a dollar and try again." At this point my wife and I are getting embarrassed because others in the restaurant are starting to turn around and make comments. I told Jessie to try that and he left again. When some minutes passed, he came back and said, "Finally that worked". Now I was thinking of stiffing him on the tip because he was being such a jacka** but I didn't and gave him over 20% like I intended from the beginning. If I stiffed him, that would just have proven what he probably thought from the outset which is that patrons who pay with gift certificates are more likely to be bad tippers. The bottom line is this, money is money. You shouldn't assume that because someone is paying with a gift card or gift certificate that they are not going to tip well. And if something doesn't go as planned with a customer's payment, you should still be discreet and treat the customer like you would any other paying customer, which is how you would want to be treated. Our steaks were cooked a little uneven for medium. The waitstaff, though friendly, were a little clumsy. One waiter accidentally dropped some food on my husband's lap which was caught by his napkin. Tonight was the worst service I have ever received from this establishment! We had a private room again and our server Rob was very rude, never came back to check on us, we had to get up and ask for drinks or to order our food, he forgot some of our side dishes and got an order wrong, and either ignored some of our questions or walked away saying he will come back but never did. Went last night to celebrate my step-daughter's birthday. My husband and I have been before and enjoyed it, last night was the best. I love their filets--always cooked perfectly. Have frequented this establishment since its opening and was never disappointed in the quality of the meal or the value received. However, I was there two months ago with a group of ten for a work related function and all members of the party had something negative to say about their respective meals. This was a special evening for their son and was not going miss the opportunity to share in their joy also hoping that it was just a bad night previously. Well I couldn't have been more WRONG! Thought I would divert from the steak and go with my old standby....the "pan" seared scallops, hoping for a rally but once again, thoroughly disappointed and have now committed to never return. In our group of five, two of the steaks were not cooked as ordered and the scallops , a total of five, were anything but seared. Frankly they seemed boiled with little to no sear. This has been a significant change from years ago where the scallops were thick, tender and obviously pan seared. Plating and presentation once again shoddy. Snap peas were tasty as well as the potatoes. If I just those two items, this may be a different review. I frequent a local East Plano establishment quite a bit and have much better scallops at one third the price. My wife ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and it came out butterflied. Not the typically, thick filet that she was used to. She was disappointed as well. We're collectively stunned to have spent, between all five members, a total of $300.00 including drinks but not including gratuity, for this meal and frankly didn't get a quality meal worth $100.00. I've had my LAST meal at this establishment and it's a shame since there are not any "higher" quality restaurants in the East Richardson / Plano area. This experience for the meal quality lumps them in with most other restaurants in this area and not worth ANYWHERE near the price point required. Having eaten here before with an office party and great experience I decided to bring my wife last evening. However this time my wife's ribeye was tough once getting into it. Once we mentioned this the attitude of our waiter completely changed. I understand some people might "complain" to get out of paying for something. And that is how our waiter made us feel. She came back three times asking if we wanted appetizers. We told her 3 times we were waiting for a friend. Guess she had a date that night and wanted to get outta there. Once my friend arrived (about 15 minutes later) he ordered a soda water. We ordered a few appetizers (shrimp Cocktail and calamari-sticks)Shrimp was good but what the heck with the sticks? This creature is usually server round and not full of stuffing. Would not recommend the sticks-enough said. Then a glass of wine for me and ordered. I had the jumbo scallops my friend had salmon. The salmon was OK according to my friend but the scallops were lousy. not fully cooked through and they were sitting in a pool of oil, butter...swimming. Horrible. I have to say I loved the food!!! I ate the 10oz filet mignon and it was super perfect!! The issue was with the drink prices. Apparently the bar tender had priced drinks higher than what is on the menu. I realized that after I paid cash for my drinks at the bar and CC at the table. The prices were off. Maybe the bar tender needed the extra dollar or two? I mean I typically tip well anyways and it is a fancy place sooo yea.. #confused.
