Their onion rings are some of my favorite around!! The fresh bread and butter are wonderful. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and tender, I love the pepper gravy on mine! The potatoes were tasty, so were the peas. We also ordered creamed spinach, cream corn and Maker's Mark mushrooms. Absolutely wonderful dining experience . Great food. Great service. An impressive meal in an environment where you can actually hold a conversation. Wonderful drinks. Perhaps the best filet outside of my own home.... delicious desserts as well . It's a must try! Crowd was a bit more mature than most places but this was expected at these price points. You definitely get a worthy meal for the price. We had beef croustade appetizer which was delicious (basically starch on little toast). We had the wedge and the silver fox salad and there were zero complaints. For the main dish we ordered the 10 oz baseball filet and the 8 oz filet. Both were cooked to perfection as ordered and came with mashed potatoes and a few snap peas, both for $40 each. Not cheap but not the most expensive either. We attended on a Saturday night after a convention at the Gaylord. The restaurant was only at about 40% capacity which is fine by me as I figured this would boost service and it did. We skipped appetizers and went on to the entrees. I had a bone in ribeye medium rare. I found myself wanting to gnaw on the bone. The meat was tender and well seasoned. You can definitely taste the difference between this ribeye and say a ribeye from Saltgrass (not saying much?). The new potatoes were fine, came unsalted but that was easily fixed. The snap peas were a little crisp but that was probably the intention. I was not a huge fan of those. Overall I was very pleased with the environment and the food. 4 stars because as long as a steakhouse does well on the steak, and this place did, well that's what it's all about. read more

Was fairly expensive. However, I would consider it worth it. The steals were better than average. The crab cake was a little cool in the center but had great flavor. The shrimp cocktail was really good. The cocktail sauce wasn't as spicy as I like but was still better than average. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was the only thing that was weak. Firstly, I am still a fan. We came here last year for our anniversary and enjoyed our delicious meal and decided to return for our 25th anniversary after returning from a very long trip. We have referred several friends who also came for to Silver Fox to enjoy a meal as well in the last year. It just so happened this time, some family members presented us with a open table gift certificate and we chose Silver Fox for our selection since we enjoyed it so much last time. We weren't disappointed...the food was delicious as remembered and we even discussed bringing my parents who will be in for a visit next week from San Francisco for a meal. Our waiter was attentive and gave good service, I wouldn't say at all that he was bad. His service was fine overall....only exception was at the end. It just so happened there was $.91 left on the bill that our gift certificate didn't cover. First, we presented payment via a Visa gift card which acts as credit card to use for that amount but also we wanted to give him a decent tip (we're never stingy with a tip), but apparently they found if you don't charge at least $1.00 it does not work. Before discovering that, he returned twice but not very discreetly stating the problem (which wasn't the card itself but the way it was being charged) saying "you can't charge .91 cents on a gift card". He wasn't shouting but he wasn't quiet about it either. So, we presented our regular credit card and the same occurred until he charged $1.00 and it went fine. We of course, gave him a good tip because overall he did deserve it, but I must say I was a little embarrassed as the other guests in the same dining area and adjoining one heard the whole thing. So, the only thing I'd say is put yourself in your patron's shoes. Try to think of how you would feel if under same circumstances. Also, never presume from the beginning you aren't going to be taken care of either...tip wise. ;) Does this mean we won't return? No, the food is great, the service is awesome. I consider this just a fluke. Don't ever presume, though. Did a great job of accommodating us as we were late with a reservation. Raymond was great as our server. If your looking for a premium/premier/upscale steakhouse this isn't it when it comes to the food and presentation. We ordered 2 sides, which both came garnished with spring mix and a tomato, seriously looked like it was from the salad buffet at a grocery store. Scallops were good, the crab cake wasn't. Main course we ordered a filet mignon (6oz) and a surf and turf that came with mashed potatoes and sugar snap peas. You cannot sub for those sides and have to order a side. My steak was swapped with my girlfriends which one was medium(dry) and the other medium rare, which both were just ok. The additional side of asparagus was a good size but very plain and just blah. Overall 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and no drinks costed $176. I know I could have went to a much more well known steak house and spent the same for a much better presentation and quality of food. My friend took me here for my birthday because she loves steak. I'm just getting warmed up to it. I had a bad experience when my family tricked me into eating dog meat in the Philippines and I've always associated it with steak. So it's no surprised that I ordered the Salmon. It was super small and maybe 3 regular spoonful of mashed potatoes. I was starving after I finished my plate! My friends husband's steak was tough and it was just overpriced for the quality. Took my family there for New Years Eve the food was excellent, but the service was absolutely atrocious and we will not be returning. Our waiter Milo should work @ a fast food resturant. Not trying to be mean but it was really that bad First, the soup and salads come for half the table more than 10 mins pass and finally after speaking to the manager they appear. He checked on us once to ask if we would like more bread.. yeah I'm still waiting on that. He never refilled a glass with anything. We had to flag down other servers to get a refill. He clears plates and glasses without asking if you are finished. He brings the check before asking if we would like anything else..we wanted coffee.If I am going to spend over $500 on a meal I don't want a crappy experience because I can't return the meal. I didn't complain to manager because that would only taint the experience for my family. This my second and last time going there. Seven of us visited the Silver Fox Steakhouse this past weekend for my brother's 40th birthday. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. We started off with the Beef Croustade, which was excellent. I had the Silver Fox salad, which was good, but not my favorite. Most of us had steak, but the Salmon and the Sea Bass were also ordered. Each entree was cooked to perfection. The ribeye and the filet were both very flavorful. The sea bass was excellent. My dad ordered the Salmon, well done, and said it was great. We also ordered the lobster mac and cheese, which was good, but I don't think it was worth $27.00. We could not leave without trying the desserts. I am a chocolate lover, but I was not impressed with the chocolate cake. I am not a bread pudding fan, but the bread pudding was very good. I know - with the number of great dining experiences available in the DFW area, it's simply b-o-r-i-n-g to regularly go to the same restaurant for (literally) years! UNLESS you invariably get excellent food, top-shelf service, and great ambiance! The strip steak is wonderful, and the Chilean sea bass is always superbly prepared (yes, you can get good seafood at a steak house!). There's a wide variety of salads - all excellent, and the dessert menu offers something for everyone. Silver Fox Richardson isn't our only regular restaurant destination, but, we certainly appreciate the fact that we have never had a long wait for a table, a poorly prepared meal, or a bad experience with adult beverages - and all for a most reasonable cost. read more

I took my wife here for Valentine's Day, with good intel that they were one of the few top tier Dallas restaurants that can handle the VD and Mother's Day kind of crowds, and still perform at high levels of cuisine art. The intel was correct. My wife is a filet mignon aficionado, since her preference is medium well done, and that is very difficult to do properly-tenderness is usually sacrificed on that altar. Silver Fox Richardson knows exactly how to do it, and can do it for the VD crowd. It was superb. I had the Prime Pork Chop, done in a sweet and salty sauce that was outstanding. The cut of pork was very generous, and folks who follow me know I require ample portions--and yet tenderness again was done to perfection. Just for the elitists, the lobster bisque, although certainly tasty, is not really a full bisque--it has small chunks of lobster in it. The Texas pecan cake, which is pictured here, is light with candied pecans and drizzled in a brown sugar sauce--a wonderful finish. In spite of running a tight ship when it came to first class service (Leah was our server and did very well), proprietor Jason Campbell was exceptionally friendly and had the flowers (that I had dropped off before they opened), brought to the table on cue. An EXCELLENT overall experience and a culinary delight. As to the 'mixed' reviews, if you read them carefully, you'll see a trend that they don't get out much (the one with two stars mentioned that Cheddars gets their desserts right...) or they just want attention for their whining. If you really do know food, you can be safe in assuming that Silver Fox is a worthy experience. For an upscale restaurant, we were disappointed. They asked us what we were celebrating at the door, our anniversary, but neglected to provide the 'standard' treatment. When we made them aware of their mistake, they offered to make it up to us by giving a complimentary dessert, which is what they do anyway! The restaurant was poorly decorated and seemed dirty. The hubs and I came here for my birthday. Service was great and the food was good even though I thought it was a little overpriced considering it wasn't crazy good. We have visited numerous steak houses and this one was a miss. The only reason why I'm not giving five stars is because with just the two of us we were seated in a semi large dining area, right in the middle of the room to a very small two person table. To be honest this table should have not been in the room. I was constantly scooting over so people could get by and I was tired of being shoulder rubbed. I took a friend here for his birthday. We want to try this place out anyway. It was on a Monday evening, it wasn't so crowded and quit. The people are very friendly and the service are wonderful. The atmosphere looks like it was dated back in the 50s with black and white pictures on the wall. Very classic looking..... i don't mind sitting in a place like this. I ordered a filet Mignon and my friend ordered prime pork chop. It was cook perfectly just like the way i wanted. Veggies are very flavorful with a nice crunch when you bite into it. We both walk out very satisfy with the service and food we ordered. You just have to take your time in a place like this to enjoy your food and really know what you want. Silver Fox has always been one of my favorite special occasion restaurants. The food and service have always been excellent in the past. That said, my family and I were disappointed in the Mother's Day lunch last Sunday. Our server had a disheveled appearance and did not exhibit the professionalism of our previous servers. She seemed harried and was definitely not up to par with our previous Mother's Day servers. The food was just so so. On our previous Mother's Day visit, one of the options was the petite filet. This has always been a reliable, delicious choice. Sadly, this was not one of the options on the Mother's Day fixed price menu this year so we all had the beef tenderloin option. I was served the end of the tenderloin which was dry and tough. This was disappointing since I was the mother at the table. The side of potatoes was good but the asparagus stalks were huge. I prefer the skinnier kind. As for the desserts, it would have been nice to have had at least one chocolate option. The choices were a peanut butter cheesecake, a mandarin orange cake and the Texas pecan cake. The Texas pecan cake was alright but the whole time I was eating it I was thinking how much better it would be as a chocolate cake. On a more positive note, we were seated promptly and I received a lovely rose on the way out of the restaurant. read more
