From when we first arrived to the end of this amazing experience we were treated so well by everyone we encountered including the hostess, waiters, and the incredible executive chef Cesar Gandara! The appetizers we had were the shrimp cocktail, beef tenderloin croissant, and the calamari! My personal favorites were the croissant and the cocktail but the other three ladies I went with said they would come back just for the absolutely delicious calamari!! Then each of us decided to try different entrees off the menu including the ribeye (bone in), lobster tail, and the sea bass, all of which were cooked perfectly! I had the ribeye (cooked medium rare) and it was 5 stars!! So tender and flavorful including the peppercorn gravy! My friend had the lobster tail which she also rated it a 5 and said the asparagus on the side complimented it well! The desserts were next and we had both the bread pudding which could only be described by the table as "to freaking die for" and the chocolate cake with coconut which was incredibly moist and . All in all the chef was incredible and we will definitely be going back!!!!! read more

Food was good. We went there on Veterans Day. But the wait for the food was horrible. We waited over an hour for our steaks. Someone obviously lost the order. Or more likely the waitress wanted to run up the wine bill so she let up sit there for 75 minutes. Either way I will never return. Ever. Plus the waitress told us a story about someone who was shot in the head three different times. Once in the army and twice when he returned home. Made for a pleasant evening. read more

My experience was less than stellar. I have had better steak. The ambience was lacking. Overall, I would say that the restaurant did not live up to the hype and the food was overpriced. As fine dining goes, I would rate it as a poor average. Granted I grew up in New Orleans which has perfected the fine dining experience so my standards may be a bit higher than average. read more

Their wine list is a joke!! I have eaten here several times with my work team. We enjoy having wine with our meal. I just wish that Silver Fox enjoyed actually enjoyed stocking the wine they have on their list. In the last 6 months my team and I have eaten there at least 4 times. Not every month but probably more frequently than most diners. THEY NEVER HAVE THE WINE WE ORDER!! Oh yeah, sure they have a nice list with several wonderful selections but they never have what we order or the vintage date is off. I am not talking off by one year, they list a 2004 and bring out a 2010. Really!? Six years off!! Yeah, that happened in front of a very special client of ours who was looking forward to the wine. We were very embarrassed and almost never came back. We have never gotten the same wine that we order. Frequently the manager/owner/matre' d (whoever he is) will come over and offer some flimsy excuse as to why they don't have what they list on their menu. This is a great restaurant with great food and excellent service. Our waiter(s) are always kind and keep our drinks filled. Their steaks are the best and the chef does a great job. I have a memory of silver fox from my youth. It's one where the service is exemplary and the food is astronomically good. A place where I was looking forward to spending a night with the wife. However, tonight the food and service didn't live to the memory and I feel cheated. Cheated out of a dinner worth the total tab I paid. Cheated out of a service where I felt like we were special, cheated even of the waiters name. Cheated out of quality in preparation that we expect from the upper level steak houses. Cheated out of the words used to convince my wife we should try silver fox. Cheated out of our Friday evening. Bar drinks were decent, her wine was easy and my old fashioned wasn't correctly made but serviceable. Our wait wasn't long but we were on our own to tell hostess we were ready to be seated rather than they inform us. Server was okay nothing special and that bothers me to say that. Food was meh. Her salad she liked, my lobster bisque was good. Her steak was cooked to some one else's order and average in flavor. My lamb was cooked raw and hard to eat but plentiful. Mashed potatoes were good. Snap peas were good. Giant slice of tomato was odd. Our dessert had no real substance to it. There was just nothing mind blowing or desirous about the meal. Not only did she meh her food she also found new restaurant to disbelieve in. We discussed whether we would return and we will not go back because there are were no reasons for us to do so. I went to this place becuase they were offering veterans $35 off their meal, and I had never eaten here before, so I figured why not. Let me tell you now, I will not be returning. Let's go in order: Bread. Cold, tasteless, plain old bread. Not warm in the least, not buttered with garlic, just BLAH. Next is the salad--just a plain lettuce tossed heavily with ranch and a few bacon bits--no tomatoes, no croutons, no cheese, just ranch and lettuce. On to the entree--decent steak, but certainly not worth $39. Mashed potatoes were fair, and I was intrigued by the macaroni and cheese, especially after the waiter built it up the way he did, so I ordered that for my side. Honestly, Kraft mac-n-cheese out of the box was far better than this stuff was. The service was what you might expect up until the very end, when I had to send the bill back to get my veteran's discount. Upon receiving the corrected bill, the waiter made very sure to remind me of the ORIGINAL amount of the bill, (as if I didn't remember) to make sure his tip was based on the higher amount. I can tell you that his doing that diminished his tip substantially. I felt I paid far too much even AFTER my $35 discount. And to think I chose this place instead of going to Mama's Daughter's Diner instead...............Could have had a much better dinner and still saved thirty bucks. read more

Bananas foster dessert shell was burnt but the waiter took it off the check with just the mere mention and pointing out there was an issue. If I were able to give this place less than one star I would have. There were six in our party on a Monday night. Our server knew the menu but it was hard to understand her. The appetizers were quick to arrive...shrimp cocktail was just ok. Salads followed about 25 minutes after we finished appetizers and then the main course arrived about 25 minutes after that. In the meantime our glasses were empty several times and slow to be filled. The food was not good...steak was tasteless and crab leg was over cooked on one end. Desert was forgettable...not hard to do creme brûlée but it was not done well here. I will not be going back...I figured because it was somehow affiliated with III Forks that it would be good...not so....Saltgrass is a much better place...TRUST ME! read more

I asked for a baked potato and they said I could have one instead of the whipped which I was glad I did, because my husband had the whipped potatoes and my baked potato was better. Celebrated the hub's birthday tonight at Silver Fox and loved it! A romantic dinner for two with food, wine and desert was made to perfection. Service was outstanding as well. And, our celebration photo by candlelight made the evening so special. We started off with a chilled glass of Prosecco (my favorite!) that was fruity, bubbly and very tasty and moved on to a nice, full-bodied Malbec with dinner. Even though the bread starter was to die for with real butter, we did a good job of avoiding too much of that filler - but, oh my gosh, was it good! The crab cake appetizer was melt in your mouth good and the split three forks salad was not only the perfect size, but the maple walnut vinaigrette was outstanding! Next..... I had the special that include a mouthwatering, tender & sweet lobster tail with a 6 oz filet cooked just to my specification, with as spicy peppered sauce on the side that was over the top. My hubby had the 12 oz pepper steak with peppered sauce medium rare, which was also cooked to absolute perfection. So yummie! The dinners included mashed potatoes, sugar snapped peas, roasted tomato and spring onions that were perfect accompaniments. And, it gets better............ DESERT - a fabulous, decadent, huge slice of mandarin orange creme cake finished off a fabulous evening. I dined here with a group of 30 for a party with a "set' menu. Small filet half the size of your palm is $37. Mine was overcooked and lacked flavor. Since I like gravy with mashed potatoes, they offered their peppercorn gravy, with an upcharge of $5.50. The house salad dressing was bland (just oil with a hint of vinegar). The worst was the soda, at $3.50 a glass and no free refills. Im with the others on this site suggesting Bob's Steakhouse. Had the very same dish at another 30 person party. Got peppercorn gravy free, and all the coke refills I could drink. Steak was cooked to perfection and deliciously seasoned. read more

Had dinner here the other night knowing I would have dinner at 3 Forks the following night....if you are deciding between the two, go to Silver Fox. The baseball cut 10oz filet is $6 less and the salads and soup are the same....reason being, they are sister restaurants. Overall the steak was good....sides of mash potatoes were average, would have rather seen a al la carte style....service was good and the atmosphere was traditional old school steak house....great for a quite night. read more

It was our first time dining at Silver Fox, but it certainly won't be the last! From the steaks to the wine selection - it was simply wonderful! I would definitely recommend the Silver Fox Salad and the asparagus! They even had lobster mac n' cheese that night - yum! The service was flawless. We were sat right away and our waiter had great wine suggestions and was very attentive. He knew the menu inside and out and we loved everything he recommended to us. The manager came by and checked in on us which was very nice and they sat us in the inner room area since it was quieter for our date night. I really like that the sides were served family style so everyone can try them. I wish their interior was more like III Forks or even Trulucks. I would highly recommend booking a table through Open Table and be sure to mention if you are there for a special event. read more

While the food was good, my server was terrible. He was rude and arrogant and pressured us the entire time to make our selections each step of the way. My steak was over cooked the first time then returned as was under cooked. The pieces I were able to eat were very good, but I saw a lot of peoples food going back to the kitchen. This is an old school type steakhouse. It is dark, lots of nice canned lighting, burgundy leather booths and lots of beautiful black and white photos adorned the walls of old movie stars of a bygone era. Very traditional, not worn or outdated interiors at all. I really enjoyed the fact it was intimate and felt cozy instead of being in a large room. Very classic and simple interiors and do agree with another review, not sexy or posh. My table partner and I got the couples special which was a 10 ounce Filet and a 8 ounce Filet with one side of mac and cheese for nearly 40 dollars a person. We also chose to get 1 extra side of creamed spinach and ended with chocolate ganache cake for dessert. Everything was exceptional, the meat outstanding, the mac and cheese had a really nice garlic flavor and the creamed spinach was quite tasty. We have eaten our share of expensive steakhouses and Silver Fox is exceptional. We will be back, we had a great time. read more

My boyfriend and I went to the restaurant last night for dinner. We decided on this place because it was Restaurant Week in DFW. Once we arrived, we ordered off the main menu instead of the restaurant week menu. We concluded that there are better steak restaurants in the area, and that we would probably not be back to this restaurant. It was very loud, our waitress, Jeanine, was just mediocre. When we go out to an expensive restaurant, we expect quality service and excellent food. My steak was excellent, I will say that, but everything else on the plate was mediocre. My boyfriend ordered the chilean sea bass and it was just average as well. We ordered a piece of orange cake to go, because it was supposably one of their specialities, and it didn't taste any different than a cake we could have made out of a box. Unfortunately this restaurant didn't live up to our expectations. read more

I'd highly recommend the scallops, lobster mac and cheese, and Chilean sea bass. My BF picked this place for his 30th birthday. Reservations were easy to make, they even let us change it due to bad traffic. Once we arrived the place seemed kinda empty but it didn't hurt the atmosphere. Very traditional decor (a bit boring) but the hostess and server were very nice. The table bread was delicious, reminded me of homemade bread my mother used to make. My boyfriend ordered the Chef's special of steak and lobster. I originally ordered the salmon ceaser salad but asked it to be changed to lobster bisque (poor appetite... also, The waiter seemed a bit annoyed at my request.) My BF enjoyed his meal, especially the lobster. My bisque was less than stellar. My bf got to choose a dessert for his birthday and decided on the Texas pecan cake. It was a bit sweet for me but he liked it. The manager came to our table and greeted us which I thought was very nice. All in all I would recommend this place to someone who is perhaps on a business trip or has visitors that you want to impress. (Definitely not a cheap date) Personally, I would have liked a more vibrant environment and maybe even more menu options. read more

We went for thanksgiving dinner. We had a reservation at 12:30 and didn't leave until 3:30. The time between courses was agonizingly long and the waiter seemed like he was over worked. Had to ask for a refill for coffee more than FOUR times. 3 hours for 1 dinner with reservations for 6 is just way too long. Restaurant seemed understaffed for the amount of business they had. Waiter also kind of made the modifications he wanted to out food and wouldn't let us order a type of salad available because he didn't think we would like it ???? Weird. I just took my wife to Silver Fox for her birthday and it was so excellent. Jorge' waited on us and was an absolutely exceptional server. I had their lobster bisque and will admit that it left me wanting, but then I am used to Pappadeaux lobster bisque so I was kind of setting myself up to be disappointed. My wife had the steak and lobster special and it made her feel special. She said the steak melted in her mouth and the lobster was excellent. I had the 16oz NY Strip with a side of the sautéed spinach that was the best I have ever had. I asked for the steak to be MR and it came out cooked to perfection and had flavor that you wanted to write home about. My wife had cake for dessert and it was served on a Happy Birthday plate. We had never seen that before and the cake was as excellent as the rest of the dinner. All in all, the dinner, atmosphere and service made this a 6-star evening for us. Sadly they stopped me at 5. They made my wife's birthday dinner one to remember. We seriously cannot wait to return. read more

Our second trip to The Silver Fox. I hear there are new owners? That things aren't as good---maybe sour grapes? We didn't see much difference. Took my hubby, Dad, and Brother to celebrate something and it met my expectations based on last visit in November. It is pricy, so we can't go often. The Silver Fox salad, I thought the dressing was watered down--but otherwise everything was great. The creme corn is to die for. The whole meal and service was excellent. If we want that quality, we need to pay a little more--just don't push it FOX, the prices are high enough (wink). read more

We had relatives in town and went with a party of nine. We reserved a room which was behind the reception desk. The room was shabby and totally lacking in ventilation. On the plus side we were able to turn off the horrible music which was blasting at around 90 decibles in the main dining room. Everything took forever, drinks were a twenty-five minute wait, while it took an hour for the waiter to take our order. One hour and forty minutes later we were served medicore food which was inconsistantly prepared. The entire ordeal lasted three and one half hours (on very uncomfortable chairs). Under normal circumstances we would have walked out when our appertif drinks were not served within ten minutes however with all of the relatives we were stuck in a truly ghastly restaurant. read more

We had a most memorable wedding reception at the Silver Fox in Richardson! The food was magnificent, the staff phenomenal and the customer service was world class! We shopped several venues and no one compared with the reception and caring service we received from Jason Campbell from the moment we walked into the restaurant. We felt he wanted us there and wanted our wedding to be a life memory. Jason provided very creative and collaborative design help and whenever we had reason to stop back or call as our planning progressed the staff was always knowledgeable of our plans, receptive to our ideas and willing to make any changes we needed. The day of the event the staff coordinated with the florist, the bakery and the musician to ensure everything went to plan. Even when our guests decided to go straight from the church to the Silver Fox to avoid the heat arriving so early the staff were just opening the doors, Jason's staff greeted them and responded immediately to provide drinks and early meals for the children. The reception itself went exactly as we dreamed with delicious appetizers, perfectly prepared and presented entrees, and a style of service that reminds you of a ballet. Jason highlighted the cake cutting by opening the champagne with a sword! Our guests had great food and a wonderful time. We will long remember this night and we have a new friend in Jason as we dine at the Silver Fox in nights to come. THANK YOU! read more

Our kids gave us a gift card for Christmas and we decided to go for Valentines big mistake. We were seat in a room the size of a closet. You could not order off the menu they had a special Valentines menu which we had looked at and figured about what the meal would cost. For a steak place the meat was blah nothing special $10 asparagus had no flavor. $12 glass of wine ridiculous The waiter came by and said I forgot to ask if you want your dessert to go or here? We figured that was our cue to go and frankly I could not stand more more minute in the closet. We will never go back. We made reservations for this joint at 7pm this last saturday. My wife and I arrived 10 minutes early and only waited 5 minutes while they set up the booth I had requested. Once sat, we waited about 10 minutes for anyone to come by. Our waiter was courteous enough but not very knowledgeable. He tried to steer me to the wine menu but I was feeling like beer and inquired as to what they had on tap. No tap beers. He said they had lots of imports. Silence. He couldn't tell me what they were so I started rattling off beers until one clicked. I settled on a Sam Adams Lager. Wife ordered a diet coke. Much to the waiters surprise we were ready with our order. We opted for the calamari as a starter. My wife went with filet mignon, medium and I with the chicken fried prime rib steak. I told him to save the snap peas and baked potato and instead give me a side of the mac and cheese ($8.95) After the waiter left a person brought us a warm loaf of bread and a plate of cold butter. Bread was fresh tasting and good. Room temp butter would have been better. Took about 10 minutes to get our drinks. Really? For a bottled beer and a diet soda? Shortly after that the fried calamari arrived. A little house pickled peppers sprinkled amongst the crispy fried squid was nice. Came with a thai sweet chile sauce and a cocktail sauce. Overall the app was pretty good and the portion was just right for 2 people. Having finished the calamari and a short wait, our entree's arrived. My wifes filet was cooked to a perfect medium. She didn't care at all for the blanched snap peas and her mashed spuds were rather unremarkable and lacked much flavor and luke warm. Same for the filet. She gave her plate a big fat MEH... The chicken fried prime rib steak was a rather hefty portion taking up most of the plate. I was disappointed that they ladled aux poive sauce on the thing. The breading was on the mushy side and the sauce didn't help. The pepper corn sauce could have used more peppercorn and all and all was rather boring and didn't pair well with the chicken fried steak attempt. I ate about 5 or six bites. The SIDE of mac & cheese ($8.95) on my plate was about 4 ounces of already separating white cheddar. It was cheesey enough but lacked seasoning and creaminess. The pasta was way overcooked and reminded me of macaroni that had sat in a pot of hot water for a couple hours. For $8.95 I expected a bit more quality and portion. Our check for the two of us wound up at $94. less tip. For the money my wife and I agreed that we could have done much better somewhere else as far as value. The service and food were simply unremarkable for a joint that has remarkably expensive menu items. read more
