When I saw the one in Porten Ranch, I decided to go there, since it is close. Excellent welcoming and friendly staff. They keep coming at you checking if you need something, asking you how is the food. I ordered the Tsukemen and then the Blaze Ramen. The Chashu is probably the best you can find in Los Angeles. The amount of soup for Tsukemen should be a bit more, or you have to order extra soup. My only other note was, that it was a bit warmer than usual inside for such a restaurant. Maybe it was me that day. Very good. Recommended if you are in the area. Safe to say, I'll be back frequently. A side note: I still think the Tsujita Annex in Santa Monica is the best Ramen in Los Angeles, but these guys are among the top 10 Ramen restaurants, in my opinion. read more

I had read the reviews so i knew i would be waiting a while for food. I had also asked about outdoor seating and the answer i got made it seem like I'd have more accommodating service. First thing i noticed is when you walk in there is zero warm welcome. I almost felt awkward like i intruded on them. I then ordered and waited outside. The inside is tiny and i wish they had actually outdoor seating like all the other places to eat there. Anyway, it took about 25 minutes not too bad considering. The blaze ramen had a really off putting greasy taste and definitely was not for me, but my spouse liked it. I got vegan and it was really quite flavorful a highlight imo. The churros were also very good. I really didn't not like sitting outside with tiny bowls which made eating and stirring in my noodles impossible so i don't think I'll be back. read more

My first visit to Silverlake Ramen won't be my last. I met a friend there who has been several times and recommended the Classic or Truffle oil ramen. I went with the Classic. It had all the toppings you'd expect- nori, boiled egg, spinach, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, mushrooms and a thick slice of pork. What made it different to me was the broth. It was almost creamy. Very flavorful but I can't put my finger on the exact taste unlike miso or shoyu broth. Whatever it was, it was delicious!! The service was polite and several servers checked in on us throughout our meal, refilling drinks or just checking how things were. We met at 5:00 and my friend was lucky to snag the last booth. I had high hopes. I went to Silverlake at Santa Monica and I was really impressed. We found a closer one in Porter Ranch and we were super excited, but I was surprised to see mediocre ratings. We stopped in during a recent visit. We had a large party and there was a long wait since they were pretty busy. We waited about 45 minutes to be seated. They didn't have the sticky rice tuna or gyoza appetisers. We were really hungry so that was a disappointment. We ordered our drinks, found something black in my drink so the waiter got us another cup. Overall experience of the ramen was just OK, nothing memorable. read more

On a cold day, Silverlake Ramen is one of my go to favorite spots in the Los Angeles area. The soup broth is very rich, noodles are firm and the best part is the char siu that comes with the ramen. This establishment lacks professionalism. The staff are bothered if you ask for anything. The manager enjoys sitting with another girl and gossiping about customers and how annoying they're. Recently while bringing it to their attention that the food was rancid they denied it and later went to gossip about the situation. Other tables also sent the food back for similar reasons. To the manager instead of gossiping about customers focus on how to become a better manager because you lack. I watched you clean dirty tables touch the food ordering tablet and then put seaweed in soups. Avoid this establishment as they may cause you to get sick and they treat you like a bother. To the owner Jinsu I recommend hiring better staff as your business will suffer with your current manager. As she demonstrated a lack of leadership and was abrasive. read more

We have never been to a ramen place that has a wait longer than 30 minutes with no one waiting, 3 empty tables and 6 open seats at the bar. After waiting over 45 minutes, we were very hungry and anticipating hot, tasty ramen. Nope. Sike. They served 2 of the 5. Then 3 of the 5. Then 5 of the 5 about 10 minutes later. The last ramen to arrive at our table was cold and not what we ordered. The truffle edamame is not truffle. They were soggy, overcooked and salty. The noodles are like spaghetti, the broth is bland and subpar. The only good thing was the pork buns. We thought, maybe it was an off day but if the food is bad and the service is bad, then the place just totally sucks. If you want cold, bland, mid ramen, horrible service, have extra time on your hands to waste - I still wouldn't recommend it. read more

Had a variety of different appetizers and the classic tonkotsu ramen. I'll go ahead and break it down: Appetizers: Creamy Broccolini: 5/5, crispy, crunchy, with a delicious sauce Fried Gyoza: 4/5, a little dry to my liking but still very tasty Chicken Karrage: 2.5/5, definitely the weakest link of the appetizers, wouldn't order again but was okay. Entree: Classic Pork Tonkotsu Ramen: 5/5 Delicious, best ramen I've had in the valley. Every topping paired amazing, and didn't feel randomly put together. Unfortunately, this spot served one of the worst ramens I have ever had and delivered proportionately in their service. I was originally so excited when I saw there was a Silverlake Ramen in Porter Ranch; unfortunately, my excitement waned at every level of our dining experience. Walking in, you immediately take in the small cramped space, which is further impacted by people waiting for their take out orders and multiple waiters (Hosts? Bussers? Employees seem to wear multiple hats here) grouped at different corners of the restaurant. We gave our name and number to the host at the front, who had just as much warmth and excitement as a the tepid ramen we were later served. The place was full, and went to wait outside, but immediately realized we were not given an estimated wait time. We came back in, and the originally host was gone. In her place was two different employees, who greeted us like a deer caught in headlights. We gently asked what the estimated wait time would be and they, after a pause, responded with, "one hour." Less than 20 mins later, we receive a call that our table was ready. We were pleasantly surprised by the shorter wait, the first and last pleasant part of our experience at Silverlake Ramen. Back in the restaurant, the original host was back. She greeted us by pointing to our table at the front to sit, which was cozied between the bar and the designated spot for loitering postmate drivers. Our waiter gave us menus, kindly took our drink order, and left for us to look over the selection; however, less than a minute later, he was back to ask if we were ready to order. We needed a little longer, which ended up being a lot longer. We received our waters, finished our cups and receive a refill (all tended by different employees) before he was back to take our order. It took even longer to receive our orders. While the same waiter took our drink and food order, any wandering employee appear to have liberty to check in, fill drinks, bus, host, and ring out any and all the guests. While this might have the illusion of efficiency, in reality it creates gaps in the flow of service. We never really knew who our waiter was or when they were coming. Excellent food could excuse any missteps in service. Unfortunately, the food was awful. We started with karaage and spicy aioli. The aioli was yummy, but the karaage was unpleasantly chewy and sinewy. The ramen was just horrible. I ordered the Shoyu on fire, which was lukewarm when it got to our table. The soup relied heavily on the spiciness to cover up its lack of flavor. The single pork slice, even though it was soaking in the broth, was over cooked and ate like a dried out piece of jerky. The noodles were unforgivable. Severely undercooked, they tasted like a mouthful of stale flour and left you with a chalky aftertaste. It made me think of dried up homemade glue, something I never knew I could associate with ramen. My partner has been the the Santa Monica and Pasadena location, which he reports serve pretty good ramen. I'm feeling a little once bitten, twice shy, but maybe one day I'll give the other Silverlake Ramen locations a shot. In the meantime, I'm never coming back here again. read more
