The restaurant itself is pretty small and cozy, which I liked. One thing to know is that the parking lot entrance is easy to miss if you're driving by on the main street. It's much easier to come in from the little street behind the plaza. If you're in the mood for ramen, I'd absolutely recommend giving Maru a try.

My friend got spinach and black garlic oil. I got bamboo shoot and the garlic/onion crisps. I know the common complaint is that the added costs of toppings tend to add up quickly, but the portions provided were honestly very generous and I didn't feel gypped for paying an additional $1.1 per topping. The ramen itself: I forgot how GREAT the broth is. It's silky, rich, soothing and the overall flavor profile had so much depth. Had we not gotten a couple of other items off the menu, I would have inhaled my ramen so fast because it's THAT DELICIOUS. I'm a server myself, so I really don't like leaving negative reviews, but this was honestly a very disappointing experience because none of the sushi plates were good. Not a single one. One of the appetizers, the mushrooms with steak, also had a bad taste and didn't seem fresh. To make things worse, when we were leaving, I started feeling nauseous and felt like I was going to throw up. I felt sick the entire drive home, which made me even more concerned about the quality and freshness of the food.
