Wow!! This place totally exceeded my expectations. Very good service by the staff and their menu while small is incredibly well executed! This might've been the most unique way I've ever eaten escargot and some of the best I've ever had, and I've lived in France! I would come back for both the moules and escargot. The frites themselves were nothing to write home about but the mussels and the bread and the sauce are amazing. My dad also enjoyed his salad. This place is so nice and close to where I live so I really wanted to love it but tried out their happy hour today to see some friends for my birthday and it was such an unfortunate experience. The menu says the happy hour ends at 6pm but the waiter said it's only until 5pm. We asked how come is it different to the menu - they said "oh I meant food is until 5pm". The menu says "house cocktailS" and we were informed it's only one cocktail that's actually on the happy hour menu. The cheese & fruit plate was 21& and barely had two cheeses on it with like 6 grapes on it . Overall very misleading and uninviting. Since it's so close to me I might try out their breakfast pastries but I would definitely not recommend their happy hour. read more

Adorable new French bistro at the modern & bohemian Palihotel. Was there on a beautiful Monday afternoon. Sat in their patio/courtyard, which is nicely shaded and lush with trees and plants. Had the niçoise salad and steak frites. Both were over seasoned but flavorful. I'd just ask for less dressing or dressing on the side next time. The fries, that are served Cajun style, with the steak frites were too salty. I like when restaurants have in their description of the type of seasoning, if any, on their fries. The steak was cooked beautifully but was also too salty for me. Overall, the food was flavorful. Also had their poppyseed sourdough which was toasted in oil. It was greasy but delicious. Loved the nutty flavor of the poppyseed with the yeastiness of the bread. Would be great if their jam was sweeter and more tart. The staff was gentle and sweet. Looking forward to going back to try their other menu items and going their on an evening to see how the space transforms. read more

Come here for the nice ambience and the happy hour burgers. Servers were giving a take it or leave it attitude and did not clear eaten plates. I had to make it a point to hand the servers our finished plates in order for them to clear plates for incoming food. We had dinner at 5pm and they said the bouillabaisse and French onion soup were sold out. The happy hour included the cocktail of the day, but the server said they didn't have one that day? I had the poisson en papillote(fish baked in parchment paper) and the fish had a taste of ammonia. I couldn't take more than a bite. We also had the mussels, but they weren't cleaned very well - several of the mussels were dead and I found a tiny starfish in one of the mussels. read more

MIam Miam! (french for yum yum!) That's how I would describe this cute little French find. My boyfriend and I were walking around Downtown Culver City one day when we stumbled upon this little cafe restaurant. We decided to save it for one of our date nights and it did not disappoint. It was easy to make a reservation online. We checked in with the seating hostess and were immediately seated. There is an outdoor patio in the back and the whole ambience of the restaurant is very intimate. Our food was delicious and paired perfectly with Cotes du Rhone wine. Make note though, it does have weird hours. I think it was closed on one of the weekdays we originally wanted to go. read more

Located inside the Palihotel in Culver City, this restaurant is a great find. It's behind the Arc Light Theatre and can be hard to find. The outside of the hotel looks nondescript, but inside is this cute little gem located on the bottom floor of the hotel. It is a great place for a date or a holiday party. We ordered the Loup de Mer, Chicken Paillarde, Pasta Provencal and Pan Seared Salmon. We loved all of the dishes except the salmon, which needed some sort of sauce or something to give it more flavor. The drinks were very creative and I was addicted to the Joie Division. Definitely an amazing revamp on an old Culver City staple. The ambiance here is totally adorable. Service was friendly and personalized. Prices are a little steep but I think its probably due to the high rents in the area. Overall, I love the interior design- a new trend of keeping a restored vintage look rather than new trendy designs. The day we came was rainy but I look forward to coming back when it's sunny out. read more

I had breakfast in their charming indoor/outdoor restaurant which is an adjunct to the boutique hotel. The omelette was fluffy and delicate and the cafe latte was good. It was a quiet place to relax while my car was being serviced at a nearby dealership. I will probably return to try some menu options described by Yelpers. read more

Had a really great experience here thanks to Victor! He made our dinner so much more enjoyable. We all had burgers and they were amazing. All of the desserts were to die for. I would definitely come back for Victor alone as our initial server seemed like he wanted nothing to do with us, but once Victor saved the day it was a totally different vibe. This place looks too cool for school! But boy, does the bar live up to the image. We were only at the bar, but had a great time bantering with the staff and trying all the delicious cocktails. The cocktail list is one of the most creative ones I've seen in LA and the staff make them look beautiful as well. The pricing is average for LA (around $14 if I remember correctly) and you get a nice sized drink for it. I would definitely come back to try some more drinks on their list and to grab some food next time as well. read more

Parking: street parking is confusing AF so I opted to park in the new structure under the Culver Hotel. There is so much potential here but they just missed the mark on several levels: 1) The space and decor were beautiful but it was 50 degrees outside and the restaurant was the same temperature. One of my companions kept her coat on the entire time. I looked around and half the other patrons were doing the same. That should be a tip-off to management. 2) The service staff were very friendly but our waiter disappeared while we were on appetizers and never came back. He apparently went home for the evening but why did no one tell us they were switching waiters? Furthermore, I had to finally get up to ask for drink menus and the bread we already requested. Only then did the next server come over. 3) I appreciate the inventive cocktail menu but the drinks took far too long considering the restaurant was mostly empty. 4) My steak frites was decent but the meat was pretty much cold upon arrival. I was hungry so I didn't bother sending it back. I also felt it was over-sauced. I usually prefer sauce on the side with steak frites but that's me. Overall, this was a lackluster experience that could have been greatly improved with a little more attention to customer service and the finer points of the cuisine. It just didn't cut the mustard for the price point. read more

The space brings you in, the service makes you want to stay but the food will be the reason you don't come back. The dining room speaks for itself. The cocktail menu is refreshing and creative. The menu at first glance has everything you'd expect from a French restaurant, but the devil is in the detail. With close proximity to the Tuesday market and prices reflecting on those of Gjelina, you would expect the kitchen at Simonette to hold its own. Unfortunately for us the food was more of a costume party than a representation of California French cuisine. Beets that could have been from a can earlier that evening, salads wilted past the point of recognition, a burger with kraft quality american cheese, and the greatest sin of all sins... an over cooked omelette. How bad could this dinner be? Go to Ihop instead. read more

Brand new spot just behind downtown Culver City. I love what they did with this place. It's a hotel on top and bar/restaurant on the ground floor. A bit over priced and they are still trying to figure things out customer service wise. Our server was good and it wasn't his fault our drinks took almost 20 minutes to be delivered even though there was light traffic. Attended a holiday dinner here last night with some fabulous moms from my children's school. Love the decor and the ambiance. The food was generally okay, but the oysters were clearly rancid. Unfortunately, our server was very rude to me on two different occasions (all within 5 minutes of me sitting down and ordering my drink). She was delightful to all of the other (white, blonde) moms. Makes me wonder. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to ruin anyone's night, but some of the other moms were kindly offended on my behalf. Top. 10. Best. Cheeseburgers. In. Los. Angeles. Period. Wow- I cant say I was THAT surprised considering the overall classy look and vibe of the restaurant and the friendly service, so I had a good feeling they had quality food, but their burger greatly surpassed my expectations. I'd rather people just take my word for it and be pleasantly surprised like I was, so I'm gonna leave out all the details as to why, but that was a goddamn delicious burger, and really legit fries to boot! As a beer lover, I was satisfied with the modest yet high quality selection of beers - I enjoyed a Coronado IPA, but I almost went with the St. Bernardus Belgian Wit (which is a world class beer)- I'll try that next time. The cocktail menu also looked impressive. The rest of the lunch menu looked fantastic-- I saw someone eating a pasta with salmon that looked amazing. I sat at the outdoor area listening to their chill curated playlist and was admiring the design and attention to detail throughout the space, my girlfriend will appreciate how cute it looked when I bring her next time :) I love that's it's a bit of a hidden gem tucked away behind the movie theatre as well. This definitely has emerged as one of my new favorite options in the area and will be at the top of my weekend dinner list before I see my next movie in Culver City. read more

My partner and I came in last Saturday for my birthday because I'd been wanting to try the place for a while. It was 5:50 pm or so when we arrived. We were seated right away at a small table. The wait staff mostly ignored us. They brought water and said someone would be with us right away. We figured they just didn't want us to order Happy Hour and would come take our order at 6:01. Except they did not. Meanwhile, patrons around us were being served, even at tables that were seated after us. 40 minutes later, we got up and left... looking for another place to have dinner.
