Sub par food. I bought a large tip, large potato salad, and 1 apple and 1 peach pie. The tips were cold, tough and there were too many bones in the order. Solid barbecue. I visited this location because it was convenient to the hotel I was staying at, went there kind of late and they still had a fair amount of meat left over. The food I had was flavorful, and solid Arkansas style barbecue. The location is easy to find, parking is easy, getting in and out is easy, staff was friendly, transaction was quick and easy. Really solid chopped pork and chicken. The pork is more chopped with sauce mixed in-- less of your dry rub pulled pork (a la Whole Hog), but flavorful nonetheless. Pretty inexpensive, divey ambience with good food and friendly folks. Worth hitting it up if you like various BBQ styles and are in Little Rock. read more

Prior to my time living in Kansas City, I would've rated this barbecue a four or five. It is quite good for Arkansas barbecue, but thanks to my enlightened barbecue journey, I'm giving this a three. The ribs were fine to good, but there was no evidence of that beloved pink smoke line that I've grown to love from other joints. Also, if memory and taste buds serve me right, then I think the sauce was quite vinegar-y, which is not my favorite variety. Service was a bit slow and spotty. My date also had barbecue sauce spilled on his pants, and the server didn't even notice. Pretty disappointing, especially since we were just in for a weekend and had a limited wardrobe. We are in town for business and heard that Sims was a good place to go. Well, we were shopping and lost track of time so by the time we Ubered to Sims, the dining room was closed and the restaurant was about to close. Not only did they serve us some of the best barbecue I've had in a long time and the closest thing I've ever had to Mom's potato salad, but they welcomed us into the dining room, provided us with excellent service, and went above and beyond to assure we arrived safely back at our hotel after we ate. We visited Sim's Bar-B Que on a Tuesday evening about 7:30 p.m.. The restaurant was busy with take out orders and pick ups. We were directed to a table and a waitress soon appeared to take our orders. My wife ordered a pork plate with sides of slaw and beans. She was very happy with the pulled pork and received a larger portion than she could eat. She disliked the beans and I agreed they had an off-taste, but couldn't determine why. Instead of pork BBQ, I ordered a hamburger, which I was surprised to find on the menu. I received one of the best hamburgers I've ever eaten here in Little Rock. The bun was warmed and buttered. The patty was large and juicy, although cut in half. (I assume to ensure it is fully cooked.) There was a large section of lettuce and a freshly sliced tomato. I thought the yellow mustard was a bit over applied, but again, that was one delicious burger! The restaurant was renovated a few years ago and the new floor and wall tiles, along with the light tan paint, really improved the look and feel. Now if they can just find a better location for their collection of BBQ trophies that attest to their culinary abilities. read more

I've been eating at this Sims' location weekly since it opened, and still believe there's no better service or food to be found anywhere in Little Rock. Their sweet mustard-based sauce is good enough to just sop up with a piece of white bread, which conveniently comes on most of their plates. My fav is the half chicken plate, with Sims' delicious, perfectly smoked chicken with the great flavor of hickory. The ribs are the best anywhere--tender, fall-off-the-bone perfection! Service was a little slow, others left out because they had been waiting for a while. There were probably only 2 other people in there. Maybe there were tons of phone orders? When our food arrived 1. Ribs with beans and greens - ribs was alright, was expecting a more smoked taste. The sauce was decent, must be a vinegar base. Beans and greens decent. Ordered sweet tea also. 2. Combo plate with potato salad. So apparently the meat comes chopped, not on the bone. My mom assumed that it was the wrong plate. The waitress said that this is how it came. My mom asked for meat on the bone. She said it would be another 30-40mins. She seemed a bit flustered. My mom just ate most of it because it was late. 3. Cheese burger and fries - my sister liked it. She didn't say that it had a smoked taste to it. Idk, maybe they don't grill their burgers. Had to remind the waitress about the sweet tea 3 times. When I finally got it, it was amazing. We also ordered a slice of their pies. I could have done without it. When I went up to pay the cashier seemed to have a bit of an attitude I guess because my mother asked about her plate. She had her little side comments. I would've given 4 stars despite the food not being as good as we had hoped for if the employees didn't seem so rude and flustered. I liked Sim's BBQ...but I didn't love it. Our waitress was very attentive, the food came out quickly, and was very flavorful. However, the atmosphere is nothing special, and I wouldn't call it amazing BBQ. The sauce was a tad bit spicy for my taste, and I'm not a fan of white bread with BBQ- I would have preferred a regular bun. This is my barbecue place for ribs. Spare ribs with a vinegar based rusty colored sauce that is most good. I am very hard to please on beans and these are the best in Little Rock, very spicy without being hot.
