Popped into this place last night while finishing up my errands. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they are open later than most of the restaurants in the same area. The restaurant is located on California and Stockdale in a nonchalant retail center and kind of tucked in the back. There is plenty of parking and it is safe as there are a ton of lights around. When I walked in the place was a little busy with a few families wrapping up their dinners. They have a few booths, one long community table in the middle of the restaurant and then they have a large booth that can probably accommodate 4 to 5 adult adults. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. And my server was kind enough to explain the level of spiciness for each curry and how they are prepared. There is a sign at the check-in encounter that states they do not use MSG in their restaurant... So I'm sure this is a major plus for people that are sensitive to MSG. I ordered the eggrolls from the appetizer menu, a Thai iced tea with Boba, and the chicken curry, which is a yellow, mild curry, and that came with a side of rice. The Thai iced tea was delicious. Unlike other places, I've had it. It was not too sweet, just sweet enough. The Boba was tender and chewy and was also sweetened so whoever made it knew what they were doing. The eggrolls came out and were served with a side of what I will call cucumber relish. The cucumber relish was delicious and so refreshing. It contained finally sliced cucumber, as well as minced red onion, and some sort of sauce, and a little bit of sweetness. It definitely complimented the egg rolls. The eggrolls are vegetarian egg rolls. They do contain glass noodles. While they were delicious and fresh, I found them to be a little bit bland. The vegetables inside the egg roll could use a little seasoning and they could have been cooked a little bit longer to get the vegetables to steam a little bit longer. While I like my vegetables firm, I definitely don't like them raw, especially inside an egg roll. The chicken curry was also very tasty. And while it is the milder of the curries, it had a little punch. That is OK by me because I like spicy things. The curry broth or sauce was very flavorful and creamy. The chicken was also delicious. It was diced or sliced white meat, it looks like they use chicken breast, and you could tell that it was seasoned and potentially boiled in a seasoned broth. So everything blended together and was flavorful. The chicken curry also had some potato... I personally would like more potato and maybe some carrots. The white rice was also good... It was pretty standard and customary however they could add a little bit more. While looking at the menu, I noticed that they had lunch specials and they were very good deals. I recommend this place either for lunch or for dinner... I am definitely going back to try some of the other dishes. My meal was so good. I ordered pineapple fried rice to go. And of course, I had to taste it when I got home. It was tasty but could use a little more seasoning. Since it's been overnight in my fridge already, I am hoping that the flavors had an opportunity to blend together and I'm looking forward to enjoying it for lunch later today. Enjoy! Ps. It doesn't look like much because it's in the strip, but it's actually really really good. Delicious Thai food. The shrimps are always delicious and Flesch and their nails are huge for the price that you pay. Really nice service family owned really enjoyed it lots of flavors and really enjoy the atmosphere of a small sitting area so on some busy nights it does get pretty crowded if you go in earlier or later, you're always bound to get a seat. They're also really good. It's a takeout place if you just take it home and relax. read more

Ordered vegetarian Pad Thai, carryout. The cashier was not welcoming; he took my order and walked away leaving me standing--didn't offer me a place to wait. I'm 75+ years old and found all this quite strange. A different person brought out my food with a smile that actually jarred me after the first experience. The food was still hot when I opened the dish at home. The tofu was hard, dry, and rubbery. I had ordered near their closing hour, while people were still eating at a couple of the tables. Perhaps my meal was used to dump the day's leftovers. This was a disappointing experience, on several levels. I came away with the impression that the restaurant staff may have assumed that I am ignorant of this dish's proper contents because I am not Asian. Or maybe they simply did not want me as a patron. Who knows? Whatever the case, I'm aware that I am only one customer, and I'm sure that they have many. But this one surely won't be returning. read more

I am incredibly biased when it comes to Singha Thai. I've been going here for years, their tom yum kai is my go to for whenever I have a cold. The place is entirely family run and everyone is very sweet. They have put a lot of time, money and hours into this place and it shows. The walls are wood paneled with these amazing large and colorful art pieces. If you come here in the evening, the entire place sort of glows gold, it's really pretty to be in. If you come around their lunch time though, you can take advantage of their lunch specials. Last time I was here with a friend, we got the drunken noodles and I got the panang curry lunch special. Their noodles fresh are so good. It is that one dish that hits the spot every time for me. As for their curries, I think I enjoy their red and yellow the most. The panang is good, but I like the others a bit better. It is a great go to if you are looking for a good starter dish to try. I love this place and will continue to go here! read more

I usually don't leave reviews but this was so good I just had to! The rice was seasoned great and has the perfect amount of spicy without being too hot. I took all my pics half way through so empty plates here (so not sorry it was that tasty). The sauce for the egg rolls and wontons make the appetizers that much better so don't skip and some Thai tea with boba to quench the spice! Took myself on a solo date, and was very glad I decided to choose a place I've never been. It was definitely a chilly night and needed something to warm up. I had the Tom yum soup, and it was great! If you're looking for a cozy Thai food spot with great food let me put you on Singha Thai! The restaurant itself is very small and cozy. The sitting is comfortable and the staff is extremely kind. The menu has so many different options to look at including vegetarian options! We ordered the appetizers combo, yum yai salad, combination seafood soup, crab noodles, deep fried banana, and sticky rice with mango. Everything was delicious and the portions were generous. Singha Thai is my Mom's favorite! I've been hearing about it for years so on my recent trip back home, we finally went for lunch! And let's just say, "I can see why she loves it!" For starters, they are affordably delicious and one of the only restaurant's nowadays that has a lunch special. $10 dollars can get you a soup or salad, your entree of choice and rice. My mom's go-to is the Singha Thai Special. It comes with fresh vegetables, your choice of protein and white rice. The sauce on it is very subtle and well-balanced. I'd say go for this dish when you are not looking for something very sweet or spicy! I decided to order the Thai Ginger. It's a great option if you really love ginger. I'll probably try the Singha Thai Special or another option, next time. We split an order of Fried Egg Rolls. They were crispy and crunchy! I really loved the sauce they came with to dip. So this is the first Thai restaurant I have been to in Bakersfield. And I have been going there for 17 years. About time to write a review. They actually remodeled the place a few years ago, but it has an old school vibe. The same 3 ladies has been serving the food the last 17 years. If you come here, come prepared for the heat. They have the hottest dish in town, the dragon fire with habanero. Today, we had the green papaya salad and satay chicken appetizer, both are perfectly delicious. I had heard great things about this restaurant and decided to come for my brothers birthday! It wasn't busy when we walked in but there was a lot of traffic coming in and out. IT IS NOT expensive each plate was $12.99 My family wasn't too fond of the pad thai as it was meant to be spicy but it was sour and sweet. Comparing it to other pad thai it could've been better. What they did like was that it was loaded with a lot of chicken. Our shareable platter was great! It had a bit of everything and tasted immaculate, we genuinely thought it was the star of the show. Tried Thai food for the first time, much tastier than Panda. I ordered the pineapple fried rice, my new favorite kind of fried rice, super yummy. We also ordered their chicken chowmein and calamari and shrimp soup. We loved it so much that we also ordered take away. Oh and the service was great, we called and ordered our food on the way to the restaurant, by the time we got there, our table was ready and our food was served as soon as we sat down. I was in the mood for Thai last night so I ordered Singha to give it a try. I went for the crab noodles because it sounded tasty. The food itself wasn't bad, it was pretty well cooked, the shrimp I added were a little overcooked and rubbery. What gets me is that they don't seem to list everything in the dish on the menu. On the menu it says noodles, crab and egg. Upon arrival it had big slices of green onion, diced shallot or onion, and it had lettuce underneath the noodles. None of that was on the menu and it wasn't really something I wanted. It was frustrating to not be told everything that came with the dish and to have to pick stuff out and work around it. Overall it was ok, I've had better Thai other places, it was a little blank for Thai, where's the heat? I might try it again but this wasn't a great experience. read more

Singh's Thai is a small Family owned restaurant that has been in Bakersfield for many years. Probably because their food is consistently well prepared and delicious. The service is always prompt and attentive and the servers work as a team throughout the restaurant so you are always attended to. I ordered an appetizer plate for lunch with small portions of egg rolls, fried shrimp & vegetables, fried wontons & Satay Chicken. Three sauces accompanied the plate, peanut sauce, sweet sauce & dressed cucumbers. Very tasty, I was just in the mood for fried food and to have a variety of tastes. Although small they can accommodate groups of 8 to maybe 14. I don't know if they take reservations. If you have a larger group I would definitely call them in advance. This joint is pretty tucked away, and I work in the area, so I decided to give it a shot randomly. The ambiance is pleasant. I got the woonseen soup with an iced coffee, and my boyfriend got the sweet and sour pork. The soup was delicious with the perfect ratio of veggies to noodles and a rich broth. I enjoyed it a lot after adding soy sauce and spice, so I would highly recommend the soup. The coffee had a nice and sweet flavor that I also appreciated a lot. Everything I've had here so far was delicious. Only thing is the place is pretty small and they didn't really come back to ask if we needed any water after serving the food. Other than that maybe try to come at a less busier time as they only had 2-3 servers. I got the Kai kua noodles which is similar to a pad see ew but with bean sprouts and tomatoes. Obviously busy and popular. We walked in and saw 5 or 6 parties seated and 4 tables without people but needing to be bussed and wiped down. Once we asked for a table, one was immediately cleaned for us and all the other tables were cleaned as well. I was very impressed with the vegetarian menu. We inquired about the meat substitute and were told it was wheat-based. There were so many things on the menu I wanted to try but with only two of us, I had to choose just one item. I opted for the red curry with tofu and asked for it to be made spicy. Wow, did they ever deliver on that request! It was a delicious curry and the heat level was even hotter than I expected.
