It was my first time for dinner and we ordered the seasonal flatbread which was very thin and crispy, crabmeat over lettuce salad which was creamy but nothing spectacular, the pork chop which was moist that came with a creamy couscous? though I think it was a creamy potato puree and they didn't update their menu. My friend ordered the scallops and they were super moist. I ordered the Live your truth cocktail that had rum, tiki bitters, persimmon. It was sweet, just the way I like it. Our entrees didn't come out long after we finished our appetizers. It was a full house most likely due to Valentines day spillage because when we were halfway through our entree at 9, the place was mostly empty. I have been here twice for dinner, once for brunch. It is fairly upscale restaurant with nice decor with fresh, beautiful flowers. Service is fairly attentive while not very personable. The chair felt a bit off -- it felt too short for a table. The price is fairly high, but they know how to make food. The fish was perfectly prepared, eggs cooked right, and cocktails are tastefully done. The ambiance is great both for date nights or weekend brunch with a friend, but not sure it will be a great place for a large group (the restaurant is fairly small). read more

The food was amazing!! I had the pancakes and it was one of the best pancakes I've ever had. So why only 4 stars Kiran? I'll tell you why: 1) the wait was way longer than we expected. I totally understand this is out of the restaurant's control but taking double the time than what we were told drove my already hangry fiancé up the wall 2) By the time we got seated, the place was half empty and the drinks still took almost 20 minutes after we ordered it. I almost want want to keep this place a secret because I can still get a table here most of the time. But after our last dinner at Single Shot I can't NOT rave about it. This is the kind of place that is done right from every angle. The space is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. The food is so damn good, I didn't take one picture (my only regret of the evening) because I was too busy gobbling it all up. Everything we had was delicious. EVERYTHING. They use quality, fresh ingredients. I know they believe that the best meals begin with what is local and in season. The dishes here are balanced, full of flavor and clean, meaning each flavor comes through. Every dish we had was executed perfectly. You can tell that a lot of thought went into planning each item on the menu. And the drinks are just as amazing! They know their wines here. We finished the night with an espresso martini. Omg! I never drink espresso at night because, you know...sleep. But I wanted to drink the whole damn thing. The vodka must cancel out the espresso because I left full, happy and slept well. I've only ever been here for brunch so I can't tell you anything about what it's like in the evening. First things first, I love the location. It's in the more residential side of Capitol Hill with a couple of other shops around it. Parking can be a pain but has gotten better with zoned parking. Secondly, service is very attentive and prompt without being pushy. They're always engaged. Unfortunately, the kitchen is quite small and things take just a little bit too long at times. That said, the food is delicious! It's pricey, but the portions are quite small. I frequently try to order something seasonal and almost never see the same thing on the menu when I return. Last time I went, I had something with English peas that was beautiful. Small, like I said, but actually the perfect portion to not feel sluggish going into the afternoon. What a perfect neighborhood gem of a restaurant. I dream of a spot like this close to where I live - somewhere that you can go for a date night that has a cozy setting, fantastic seasonal food and just down to earth good service. Took a few work colleagues here for dinner and was really pleased with the experience end to end. Sitting on a strip of some restaurants/shops/bars in Cap Hill, it's hard to see the name as you initially go by but there are a few tables outside and more inside but probably not more than about 10-15 tables altogether as well as some bar seating which would be great if you're looking for a nice meal and dining solo. We shared most of the starters - green salad, tomato salad, charred cauliflower, flatbread - and everything was tasty. The mains were all cooked to perfection; a good preparation makes any meal spectacular and lets the food shine through. We didn't have any of the alcoholic drinks, but i was really pleased with the bartender's mocktail made to order. Will be back! read more

The pork chop totally blew me away!!! It's so easy to overcook pork chop but this one was so tender and juicy! The meat would melt in your mouth like butter! Chopped pistachios and pomegranates added great flavor twists on the already perfectly executed dish :) For dessert, we got the butternut squash cake. The texture was more muffin like but oh so good! 5 stars for the service as well. The food offers a pretty eclectic mix of choices, but each item has some element that surprises with ingenuity and class, whether it be the dressing and figs on the salad or the sauce on the broccoli rabe. Brunch Review: A girlfriend chose Single Shot because of their ease taking birthday brunch reservations for a group of 6 People. She did note that she had to put down her credit card to secure things (and they do charge a fee for cancellations/changes, so be sure to check on that). The service and atmosphere were 5 stars. Food: I ordered the Single Shot Egg's Benedict Drink: Scratch Bloody Mary I only docked a star due to the limited selections on their menu and somewhat bland Bloody Mary. Their brunch offerings are super limited with only 4 real things to order (Pancakes, Eggs Benedict, Lamb Kefta or a Breakfast Sandwich). Everyone was pleased with the food they ordered, but it would have been nice to have a few more options. One of my favorite cap hill neighborhood restaurants good for about any kind of occasion where the goal is to eat amazing, well prepared, seasonal food! It's elevated yet approachable menu is fun to explore so I recommend trying and sharing lots of dishes. Two of us went around 6'ish to beat the dinner rush during the week and didn't have any issues getting a table. The waiter was really knowledgeable about the menu and offered the right amount of recommendations when asked which was appreciated. Great looking restaurant in north cap hill where we went for a celebratory brunch. We ordered two drip coffees, Benedict, and Bacon Hash. We planned to split the dishes so we asked about portions, the waiter said most things are small so to go for it. The food was pretty substantial though, usually a good thing but we likely would have ordered differently if we knew that. The Benedict was great with crispy prosciutto. The bacon hash was tasty but very hearty with pork and potatoes plus a fried (?) egg. But don't let that dissuade you! We actually had lightening fast service and I was surprised by how well we were tended to given that every barstool and every table was full. The drink menu is diverse but there's also a great variety of wine for people passing on the spirits. You can't go wrong with both a cocktail and a glass of wine. Hint, hint! The food menu starts with apps and small plates and works its way down with medium and large plates. Of course the smaller the plate, the smaller the price and the serving. We tried 2 small plates, a medium plate, and a large. -The seaweed butter served with bread was outstanding. -The duck confit pizza with BBQ Hoisin sauce was a huge hit. We also tried two specials and though I'm momentarily forgetting what they were, I remember enjoying them greatly. And because this was so solid all night and service was so great and the atmosphere was relaxing and fun, we opted for dessert. Which we rarely do! I like this place a lot for Sunday brunch. The food and service are so good that I don't mind that the portions are a bit small for the price. But last time I was there it was getting close to closing time (2 pm, reopening at 5 pm), so I went for something extra small: two eggs over hard. It was delicious, and they served it what I would call over medium, which is what I really wanted when I ordered them over hard. And it was one of the bargain items on the menu: only four bucks! So, although I really like the place, I was on the edge between five stars and four. I have a few small points that mean a borderline five instead of a solid five: - As noted, a lot of the dishes are pretty expensive for the portion size. It is the opposite of chain restaurants, where you typically get mountains of good-enough food; here you get a light portion of delicious food. (But if you're feeling cheap, go for the eggs! But never be cheap on the tip; that's not cool.) - Since I go there for Sunday brunch, the brunch hours matter for me. For my brunch friends, the 2 pm closing is a bit of an adjustment; we can't linger after the meal as long as we might at other places. Note that I haven't mentioned any time except Sunday brunch hours. That's the only time I've gone there. So if you're going there for weekday lunch, evening meals, cocktails, etc., all I can say is that it's still an elegant little place, but other reviews will tell more about the experience. read more

Love this cute little boite in Capitol Hill! Came in early on a Thursday evening, so the place wasn't crowded and we were able to sit outside to enjoy the sunshine. Ordered a lamb tartare to start, which was delicious. It wasn't your typical tartare preparation -- mixed in with a really tasty smoky-spicy sauce that didn't have too much heat, and topped with nuts and dried apricot. I also had a burrata dish which was also amazing, accented with grilled bing cherries and baby snap peas. Service was fantastic, and the sever accommodated my weird food questions and drink requests with aplomb. The only negative (if that) was the price. Single Shot is in the former art space next to the original Top Pot on Summit. I still don't get the idea of basing the name around a giant gun replica, especially a fancy bar in liberal land, but ok... the atmosphere was actually quite nice. It reminds me a lot of Delancey's Essex, but darker. Same long narrow shape with a bar in the same placement. It's rather loud, and you have to raise your voice a bit to converse or order, but all in all, it has a good ambiance. I had the baguette with radishes, seaweed butter, salmon roe, and it was not quite what I expected, but very good. I thought it might be more of the traditional French radish and butter snack, but instead it was more deconstructed -- baguette crostinis with seaweed butter topped with salmon roe, and then very finely chopped radishes. It was really good, but I would have preferred toasted baguette slices (softer) over the crostinis -- the crunchiness was just too much! I also sampled a friend's Pernod - chocolate ice cream, which was surprisingly good. Like really really good. I would never have expected Pernod ice cream to be that good, and it was a great complement to the really nice chocolate bits in it. All that said, I wish they would put more snackable items on the menu, and try to be a little more accessible. There really weren't a lot of items I was interested in on the menu. The menu has 3 apps -- the plate I had, something pork with baguette (I assume they mean crostini again, though later on the menu crostini is mentioned... ), and something entitled 'pub cheese', that I may try next time now that I'm sold on the quality of food here. (For a first try, I was not going with something called pub cheese!) After the apps, there are 4-5 fruit or veggie-focused (but not necessarily vegetarian) small plates, 3 pizzas, and 2 entrees, then desserts. None of the small plates really appealed to me, and I don't often get a full entree when out, so I'd be thrilled if my new neighborhood bar tried to be a little more of a neighborhood bar, and offered more snacks and small plates. read more

I came to Single Shot for the first time for a close friend's birthday pre-pandemic and my second time yesterday with the same friend for girl's night! I love that they have seasonal menus so you get a lot of different options. First time I remember having an agnolotti dish with hazelnut and some sort of mousse dessert and they were both absolutely delicious. Small but super cute place. Perfect for date night! Limited menu. Lamb Tartare- Loved the concept but didn't love the dish. Didn't quite like the cumin flavor mixed with the lime and the pine nuts were a little overpowering. We were also not a fan of the 5 little croutons-- would have been much better over a thick slice of toast. The meat itself was good though-- not gamey. Margherita pizza- Amazingly simple but delicious. Spot on. Crispy thin crust, great cheese with a little bit of basil. They have a legitimate stone fire pizza oven. You can add prosciutto for $2 or try their 2 other pizzas (limited selection). Steak- Perfectly cooked medium rare. Liked the white sauce more than the darker red wine sauce. Came with cooked carrots and bok choy. Wished the sides were a little more exciting but the steak itself was on point. The only complaints about the restaurant was very limited menu selection (interesting vegetable risotto type dish, salmon, steak or pork for main dishes which all seem kind of played out/banal). But all the food we got was executed well and service was great. They also have $8 house wines "on tap" that were pretty good. White- chardonnay and the red was some blend that was decent. Also the dishes are pretty small/sparse so this restaurant is great for 2 for sharing, but you'd have to order more of each dish if you have 3 or 4 ppl. I've resigned myself to only writing Yelp reviews when things are exquisite or downright disastrous. Good thing Single Shot falls on the former end of things. I've now been about half a dozen times, and each visit has been near perfection. The most recent time was Saturday night, when a date called in advance to reserve a table. The person who answered suggested sitting side-by-side because it's more sociable. We were able to score two seats at the bar -- an intimate, perfect setting in this cozy little spot. Thanks, host guy! The bartender was thoughtful in his recommendations, describing each menu item and tailoring his suggestions to our dietary tastes. Cocktails were delectable. For food, we had the clams, which came out in a curry broth with a perfectly crusty delicious bread. We also had a seasonal fig salad, topped with chevre and berries. We then ordered the chanterelle mushroom pizza. Turns out the kitchen got so busy that they missed our order and ran out of pizza dough. The bartender took the blame and offered to buy us anything on the menu -- our choice. We went for his option of the king salmon, and it did not disappoint. Plus -- huge, HUGE merit points for falling on the sword and offering to pay for the entree because of a kitchen mix-up. This is just the type of service lacking in so many places these days, and the type of service that will keep me coming back for more. Across the table we ordered a couple of the 32oz steaks, spinach, potatoes, spetzle, cauliflower, Margherita pizza, and plenty of drinks. We came in for a double date night on a Friday. Our table was ready on arrival and the service we received throughout was attentive and pleasant. We decided to go with family style and the food was awesome. We had the marinated figs and cheese which paired very well together and was large enough for everyone to have a portion. The chanterelle pizza was good, more bacon than mushrooms though so take note of you are a BiG mushroom fan. The mussels came in a yummy red sauce for which you'll want an additional side of bread to be able to sop it up. For our two larger dishes we had the pork which came with an awesome cherry glaze, yum! It comes sliced and was easily shared. I have eaten about half of the current menu. Every dish I would order again but the kampachi stands out as well as the chicken liver mousse. Both melted in my mouth. I like soft textures and layers of flavor. Balance of salt and fat matter to me as well. I don't drink many drinks but I do like the wine on tap! Small space. Don't bring a party of 5 or more here. Horrible parking situation and weird part of town. VERY loud. They blasted loud music and we had to scream at each other to hear what the other person was saying. If your space is small, you shouldn't be playing music. Cute indoor decor/interior. I liked the Christmas decor as well, the vibe was very cozy because of the intimate lighting which I really liked. Very average food that isn't worth the price at all. My mushroom flatbread had a really funky smell and the flavors just didn't work for me. Strange cheese texture that was way too creamy on top of the flatbread and the sweet glaze and mushrooms just didn't work for me. The panna cotta dessert was very bland and needed more sweetness. We liked the pecan pie but very small portion. By husband said he liked his steak, but it was just that- a steak, with nothing else on the plate. We both got home and were till hungry so we made ourselves another meal. Would I come back? Never. We have eaten at many higher end restaurants and definitely consider ourselves "foodies", whatever that even means nowadays. But this isn't the kind of place I would bring someone from out of town to impress them with the food. One of my local foodie friends picked this place, so all throughout the day I was extremely distracted, salivating at the thought of all the fancy treats I'd be chowing down on at one of Seattle's hip spots. The decor and neighborhood vibe make you feel like you are dining in the home of a friend with money and very good taste, but the laidback vibe of the servers and the small menu remind you that you are somewhere very intentional and very well thought out. We were back again tonight at our favorite neighborhood restaurant for another fantastic meal. Everything on the menu is delicious, but I highly recommend the pork chop. It's huge, moist and delicious. We've eaten here many times and the consistency is to be commended. The menu is on the small side to match the size of the space and the kitchen, but you can't go wrong with any of their selections.
