My friends & I went here for a girls brunch for my friend's birthday back in January. It was so easy to set up a reservation in Opentable, and we were seated right away for the five of us. The service was fantastic and they were very attentive & friendly. Food was so good and affordable. We all inhaled our dishes. You can tell their ingredients are fresh and they care about their food presentation. We never told them it was our friend's birthday but the waiter was so observant and saw gift bags. After we got done eating, a complimentary pancake showed up at our table with a candle on it! What a special & considerate gesture!! That move alone made me mention this place to my friends & family. A hidden restaurant that I discovered one day -- thought the interior / ambience looked gorgeous and had to try it one day. The ambience is dark and really quiet, which is perfect for more intimate / private dinner conversations. The food was delicious -- I tried their seared scallops, fresh burrata, butter lettuce, goat cheese mousse, brussel sprouts, and chocolate cremeaux. I loved that all their dishes were plated beautifully. Their cocktails were also really good. I wasn't a huge fan of their desserts, and I felt that the scallops were not that filling (i.e., there wasn't much else besides a few scallops on the plate). Would highly recommend getting the butter lettuce and more of their appetizers, however. Service was also really great, and because this restaurant is in a local neighborhood, it's pretty easy to find nearby parking. Overall, I think the food was great but not my absolute favorite, but would highly recommend trying this spot to see for yourself. read more

I made a weekend brunch reservation for a large party and had a great experience. We originally made a reservation through Open Table, but it is limited to 6 people. We had to add a 7th person, so I called and asked to make a change to the reservation. They confirmed they could do it, but the day before I called again to double check as I got a confirmation email for 6 people from Open Table. The first person I talked to didn't make a change in the system, but luckily they were still able to accommodate us. We got the large table in the back and ordered almost all the options on the brunch menu. Each person's meal including a drink and an entree ended up being around the $35-45 mark with tax and tip. Service was good when we were in the restaurant and its a super cute space! Very small, so keep that in mind :) Would recommend! read more

Really cute brunch spot in town located in a more low key cozy part of cap hill. This place has a similar cozy vibe like Harry's Fine Foods which i absolutely love. We saw these great reviews on yelp and we were so excited to dine in here. This will be one of my fav restaurant in Seattle. The restaurant is GORGEOUS!!! I love when they put real flowers on the vase. Their decor is so elegant and very clean restaurant. I only gave them 3stars because their service was just okay. They were pretty slow and only 3tables around 8 pm on Wednesday. As soon as walk in, she didn't greet us and all she said was "do you have a reservation?" When our food is arrived, she just put dishes on the table and walked away. I was expecting her to explain ingredients, sauce..stuff like that because their food presentation were artistic and attractive. She wasn't very attentive and friendly. Maybe it was on her day 2.(ya'll know ladies) She didn't stop by our table if we need anything. My tea pot was empty and I had to flag down to ask her to refill hot water. The seasonal menu is delicious, we love how it rotates based on what is in season and each dish is really unique. I came here with 3 of my girlfriends after getting our nails done nearby. Despite it being a smaller space, we were able to get seated shortly after arriving even with it being busy. It has been a few years since I had been to this spot but wow I forgot how amazing every aspect of this restaurant was! We shared agnolotti to start, I got a duck breast and my husband got a pork chop. Everything was impeccable. We also got some cocktails. I read through some of the negative reviews and most seemed to say the place is overpriced for small portions. This is one of my biggest pet peeves and not what I experienced at least for brunch. There are lots of great places on Capitol Hill to grab a drink and a bite, but I feel like Single Shot is a bit of a hidden gem. It's tucked down Summit Ave. in a fairly unassuming storefront, but it consistently puts out some really amazing food and drink. Last night we enjoyed squash lasagna, roasted Brussels sprouts, and a radicchio salad. You know that a place is good when you can't even decide what dish is your favorite among the three. They were all fantastic from their taste to presentation. The drinks were also fantastic, and they have a solid wine list. Single Shot is currently doing takeout with some limited indoor dining. We actually sat outside on the sidewalk on a small two-tap table, and it was a extremely enjoyable dining experience. I'm a little hesitant to be too effusive in my praise because I don't want this place to get so busy that it gets overrun with popularity! :) But its a real neighborhood gem. read more

I love this neighborhood spot, but so far I've only been in for brunch, which is delicious and has something for everyone! The service is friendly but not in your face. It's not huge so I wouldn't come with a massive group (more than 6 people) without giving them a call! I've ordered the bacon hash almost every time I go because it's filled with vegetables and served in a skillet so everything stays warm. I love their brunch cocktails too! Friends With Benefits is my favorite, the kombucha makes me feel like I'm totally balancing out all the bourbon. This is a great spot for a first date, or catching up with a friend. The space has city-style seating which means be respectful of your dining neighbors. Just because you can hear someone's conversation doesn't mean you should snoop or worse, butt in. When I pay a little more to eat out, I'm looking for an experience that feels different and more special than eating at home - whether it's from the complexity of dishes, unusual ingredients, great service, or ideally a combination of elements. Single Shot hit all the right elements! Let's start with the food - we had the celeriac soup, the maple sausage flatbread, the smoked bean cassoulet, and the spiced apple galette for dessert. Everything was excellent, with fun and unexpected flavors, and the celeriac soup was especially rich and delightful. Also, the combination of apps and one entree was just the right amount of food for two, and our bill at the end was less than we had expected! The service was also a standout. Our food came out with very good timing, and the service was just the right level of warm and friendly. Also, my boyfriend and I were here for an anniversary, and the champagne dessert at the end was a delightful touch. We split the dessert trio sampler, with tasting portions of each of their sweets: -Valrhona chocolate crèmeux (buckwheat cake with burnt orange caramel and hazelnut brittle): This was *easily* the stand-out, in fact, I would just order the full portion of this. I'm not even a chocolate lover, but the Valrhona flavor was simply outstanding and the texture and flavors worked beautifully together. Loved the buckwheat crumbles and hazelnut brittle was tasty as well. -Toasted honey pot de creme with sesame tuille, juniper and chantilly cream: This was easily outshone by the crèmeux with a lighter flavor profile. If you get the trio, I would probably try this second, the Valrhona last. -Chartreuse & Chocolate Chip Ice Cream: As a chartreuse lover, this was a slight letdown, as the chartreuse note was very, very faint. Disappointing experience to say the least. It took 40 minutes to get seated for our reservation for brunch. Our table was almost given away to another group, and we had to step in and remind the host we were waiting. Once seated, it took over an hour to receive our food. Servers blatantly ignored us and served food to surrounding tables who had arrived after us. It seemed there was preferential treatment to the various customers seated who happened to know the wait staff personally. We had to initiate the conversation and address the wildly long wait with our server who was unable to tell us when our food would be ready, only that the kitchen was backed up. While waiting, we couldn't seem to get water or coffee refills. I really wanted to enjoy my brunch here after hearing good things. We won't be back again. read more

This is a really nice restaurant with a unique menu (it is a minimal menu, but everything we tried was good). It has a very nice interior, even it the tables are very close to each other. As you would expect with a name like this, it has a really good bar list. The cocktails in particularly looked very interesting, but I decide on some red wine. I started with the Rockfish Crudo in the Farm and Garden section (not necessarily an appetizer section, but good place to start). This was incredible. The fish was prepared exquisitely and it came on this squid ink rice cake that was incredibly good. Next was something from the Dairy and Grain section. We ordered the Margherita Flat Bread (and DEFINITELY get the prosciutto). This was just perfect, with the best cheese and meat. This was a healthy-sized portion as well. Finally, from the Earth and Ocean section I ordered the Ribeye. Although this is not a steak place, this was a seriously good steak with an excellent shallot sauce. It was just divine. First off, just have to say that the vegetables at this place RULE! While the Duck Confit flatbread was tasty, it wasn't anything extraordinary... but what WAS surprisingly extraordinary was the roasted cauliflower dish! ( Now this vegetable has only recently started to grow on me, but after eating this dish, I could see it becoming a staple as it is quite addicting.) And then there was the pork chop, which was excellent - perfectly cooked and tender - but I'd say that equally complementing in texture and flavor was the spaghetti squash that came with it. holy moly...I couldn't stop eating it!! I don't know why, but I never thought I'd be that impressed by vegetables but now I am and am looking forward to trying more the next time I go in! Ambiance and decor is a nice blend of casual and cocktail. What I did notice is that due to the spacing of the room and seating, that it can get quite loud/echo-y inside if its a full house, making it very difficult to hear your party. It was my first time at this restaurant and we were celebrating my partner's birthday. When you RSVP you can indicate that it's a special occasion like a birthday, which I did, and when I walked into the restaurant I told the host it was my partners birthday. I even told the bartender it was my partners bday, thinking maybe they will bring a candle out with our cocktail order. Then I ordered dessert, thinking they would bring it out with a candle, but they didn't do anything! Not sure if it's a service issue, communication issue, or they just don't do anything for special occasions, but I was super bummed and would have picked a different restaurant in the area. read more
