False advertising?! I felt obligated to write this warning to anyone considering going here. This cute little ice cream/soda shop at the famous corner in Winslow Arizona looked like a good place to grab a quick bite to eat. Inside, we were given a menu to look over and thought that the listed price of a hot dog with choice of toppings was really over-priced at $7.49 each. But that's really all my wife and I wanted to eat and we figured it's a tourist trap so everything is going to be over-priced. We ordered two hot dogs and a medium root beer. The bill came to $27.38. I didn't do the math at the time, I just paid it at the register and gave them a tip on top of it. We sat down outside and waited probably around 20 minutes before I realized we had been charged $10.99 per hot dog that we still hadn't received. I went inside to talk to someone who worked there. Our food was ready after waiting inside for a few more minutes. I questioned the bill, and the employee who handed me the dogs told me that the menu was outdated and that they had raised the prices. No one told us that the price of one hot dog had gone from $7.49 to $10.99. If they had, we would have found somewhere else to eat. The hot dogs were supposed to come with a pickle and chips. We did not get the chips at first and had to go back inside and ask for them. The hot dogs were good sized and all beef, but not very hot when we got them. The buns were soaked in mustard, ketchup, and relish. My bun turned into mush and I didn't even finish it. The reason I gave this place two stars instead of one was because of the nostalgic atmosphere and quality and size of the all-beef hot dogs. If you go here, question the prices before you order. They had no intention of honoring the price on the menu that they gave us and beat us for $7.00. read more

I stopped in one morning to meet a friend. The shop is great, it is too bad there is not more seating. I would have loved to venture upstairs and hang out. That said, I ordered an iced tea and was delighted by the well handled, fresh green tea made with plenty of ice just as I asked. Perfect. But, the smell coming from the kitchen was sooo compelling that I was forced to order a breakfast crepe. It was super flavorful and delicious, fluffy scrambled eggs, diced ham, cheddar cheese enfolded in a lovely crepe and accompanied by a fresh and lively tomato salsa. The ingredients were simple, but high quality and expertly cooked. It was such a large portion, I could not finish it, as much as I wanted to! Great addition to and doing Winslow proud. Winslow was a must-stop on our road trip to Albuquerque. For this jaunt, the #1 Rule of the Road was "No National Fast Food Chains" (they are convenient, but BORING and carb-loading). We happened upon the Sipp Shoppe, since it was right across the street from a girl in a flatbed Ford. They offer myriad choices from their menus of coffee drinks, deli fare, and ice cream treats. The staff was very friendly and service was good. In spite of all the possibilities, our selections were relatively pedestrian: one Take It Easy Dog, a half-and-half combo of Philly Roast Beef sandwich and BLT Salad, a Black Cherry shake and a Diet Pepsi. The dog was large and piled with the listed condiments, but the relish was dill rather than sweet, so it turned my bride into a sourpuss (a choice of either dill or sweet would be nice). The Philly RB was a decent beef-n-cheese sandwich on a French roll, but, without any intention of singling out the Sipp Shoppe, the Coalition of Philadelphia Cheesesteak Merchants should bring a class-action against ALL non-PA-based pretender/claimers to this sandwich title because 99% of the wannabes are not even close. The BLT salad was OK, but nothing I would be able to identify as anything more than a mixed green salad if it was served to me double-blind (I would have preferred Italian dressing, but the only options were Sun-Dried Tomato and Ranch). The Black Cherry shake was way too sweet for my taste; the Diet Pepsi was as expected. After this visit, we would know to make adjustments on any subsequent re-orders: sweet relish on the doggy, please, and go light on the fountain syrup in the shake if you would. read more

I ordered the chicken avocado half sandwich with a side of soup (which was green chile chicken soup). I asked for my sandwich to be on ciabatta-it was not. they give you the option to choose from basil aioli or spicy aioli. I asked for spicy-and They gave me basil. They said all sandwiches are available to be toasted and I asked for mine to be toasted-it was not. I also found a short black hair in my sandwich. I have long blonde hair. only reason I gave two stars is because the soup was amazing and spicy. read more

Homemade ice cream tastes like the kind from my childhood! Nostalgic restaurant plays up the Route 66 vibe of Winslow. Ate here twice and had the turkey melt with green Chile on ciabatta both times - too good to change it up! Shared a scoop of peaches and cream ice cream with my husband who was as pleasantly surprised at the homemade taste as I was! Only thing I'd mention is I thought some of the sandwiches were a bit pricey, but we were splurging on our roadtrip. Wow. Just wow. This place looked great. Me and my son were looking forward to some root beer floats on this 100+ degree day. Walk in there. Didn't get greeted. Stood at the register for a few minutes. The staff looked at us and continued what they were doing and never acknowledged we were there. Even reached around us to give stuff to other customers. I know it can get busy. But you at least let the customer know you will be with them shortly. So we sat at the bar right next to the register. STILL wasn't acknowledged after about 5 more minutes. Got up and left. The staff were young college aged individuals and I didn't see anyone that looked like a manager. I hate to write a review like this but it was just an aggravating visit. read more

Looking for a place to have dinner while waiting for the fireworks to start. The place we originally had chosen was closed so we opted out for the Sipp Shoppe. So glad we did. The gentleman inside told me they had the best strawberry salad; and he was right. It was amazing! We also ordered the Bosses chicken sandwich [not sure of the exact name) also brilliant! Went to Winslow, AZ (to stand on the corner). And while the food at La Posada was wonderful (see La Posada review), one of the days we just wanted a sandwich. The Sipp Shoppe was right down the street. It's a very small place, but worth the walk. I had their turkey cranberry sandwich OOOH YUM! Big stack of turkey and cranberry sauce on both sides --- SO good! DH had turkey and avocado which he really enjoyed. The folks at the next table had ice cream desserts which looked really good, but the sandwiches were so filling we had no room for big desserts. Recommend you go there hungry! read more

Good location since it's literally on the corner most people are going to travel to Winslow to see. I went in for a quick bite and got their club sandwich and a drink. The sandwich was really good, if I was going to gripe about anything I'd say the roll it was on reminded me of normal grocery store fare but it was still good and I would definitely go back. Bad experience put in an order very simple sat 6 feet away from the person that took the order for 30 minutes. I then went up to inquire about the status of lunch and apparently the order had been lost, the amazing thing is is the person that took the order was less than 8 feet away from the person who would have made it, confused as to how that happened! We wandered into this new establishment during a three-night stay in Winslow to try the savory breakfast crepes. They were delicious, filling, and served with a smile, so we kept going back to taste different items. Eventually, we'd also eaten sweet crepes, sandwiches, and homemade ice cream. All were prepared quickly using fresh ingredients in generous portions. The staff couldn't be friendlier or work harder to please their customers. This is THE place for a great sandwich/salad/ice cream treat in Winslow! Right across from the "Corner" you should stop in while you breeze through town. If the French Dip is the special, RUN don't walk! Same for the chicken enchilada soup. So delicious! I'm hooked on the old fashioned ice cream sodas!
