    Chicken and Waffles

this was pretty interesting because it consisted of two completely separate foods with complete opposite flavor profiles starting with the chicken - I ordered the Nashville Hot spice level, which was the second highest spice level you can get. The first and most obvious thing about the chicken was that it was spicy. Like really spicy. That has to be the spiciest chicken I've ever had and it's not close. I was still able to finish both tenders without adding any extra sauce (the waffles helped) but my mouth was on fire at the end - I had to get in some ice cream While normally I like spicy food - I can't say I liked this spice as much because it seemed more like spice caked on to the breading as the seasoning itself - kind of like the only point of the breading was to be spicy. I didn't taste many other flavors in there. This made the eating experience of the chicken not super enjoyable as I didn't really enjoy each bite as much as I was just getting through it To add to this, the breading was nice and crispy, but it didn't attach to the chicken as well as I would like. It frequently peeled off the meat itself. It also didn't quite have the oily texture of good fried chicken - was a bit dry As far as the meat itself - I thought it was fine - nothing special but also nothing too bad. The thing that I really liked was the portion sizes of the chicken. While it wasn't super easy to get through, I did like the fact that the chicken filled me up I really appreciated the spice level in the chicken - but wish the breading was better and had more different flavors Get this if you're really craving spicy food The second part of this meal were the waffles - which were astoundingly good The waffle was soft but had real weight to it - each bite had a depth of dough that was fantastic In addition, the whiskey butter and maple syrup made the entire thing a truly amazing sweet experience It complimented the chicken so well - adding an excellent side flavor to each bite The way I would eat this is by cutting a piece of the waffle off, and either putting it in my mouth and taking a bite of the chicken or combining pieces of both onto a fork and eating it that way. The waffle's sweetness made the chicken tenders tolerable and significantly improved the overall experience

My boyfriend and I love this place. It always feels like you're walking into a different world with their cool vintage interior and piles of toys on the window sill. We're always seated quick and the servers are super nice and attentive. The food here is excellent. Hot, spicy, and flavorful. It always feels like a challenge to pick just two (sometimes three) sides because they're all so good. The okra is my personal favorite, but the fried pickles are great too and the slaw has the perfect amount of horseradish. As far as drinks, they make a good michelada but their carnivore Bloody Mary is super fun too. Absolutely recommend that everyone try this place!

If you're looking for some seriously hot chicken, this place doesn't play with their spiciness! I regularly eat spicy food but this place still made me sweat. I love the vintage old school decor of the place and the service is super nice. Unfortunately, some of the food didn't match up to my expectations. The chicken from this place had good flavor, but it didn't taste fresh. Admittedly, I've only gotten takeout so maybe it'd be better if you ate there. The chicken was a bit dry and the breading wasn't well adhered. It felt like chicken that was cooked a while ago and then re-warmed in the frier. The flavor of the breading was good and super rich with the hot oil soaking in though. The sides are alright here. I love fried okra and there's not many places in Seattle that offer it. The fried green tomatoes were good. They were crispy and I loved the pimento cheese it came with. The portion sizes are also pretty hefty for the price so I had leftovers for a while.

Ive been here before when it was in George Town and really enjoyed going back in the day. It wasn't the same & it was a disappointment. The chicken itself comes out with way too much breading, so you end up working through a thick, heavy crust before you ever get to the meat. There's good chicken under there, but the ratio is off enough that the flavor gets lost. The sides didn't quite balance things out either. The mac n cheese was a little on the dry side, missing that creamy comfort you hope for, and the coleslaw didn't bring much flavor, feeling more like a filler than a fresh, tangy contrast to the fried chicken. That said, everything seems fresh, the portions are generous, and with a lighter hand on the breading and a little more attention to the sides, this place could really shine. Service was great! Is an interesting place inside, filled with games and tons of random decorations.

Sisters and Brothers is a fun place to meet up with friends. The restaurants decor is eclectic and a great conversation starter. Plus the service is really nice! I recently went with a friend and really enjoyed my time. I am quite grateful that one can choose their spice level because I for one like well-spiced food, not spicy. We ordered the hot catfish (Baby Hot) and the chicken and waffles (Naked). The portions were huge! These were meals that could easily be split into two, so I will try to keep that in mind for next time. The chicken and waffles was served with maple syrup and a whisky butter. I'm happy to report that although the chicken tenders were "Naked" they were well-seasoned and quite yummy. As for the catfish, honestly "Baby Hot" wasn't spicy and tasted pretty yummy. I wish the crunchy outside stuck better to the fish itself because it was a bit difficult to eat. I look forward to coming here again to try out more dishes

Driven by here countless times, finally popped-in at 11AM opening last Sunday, great decision! Our chicken meals were generously portioned, moist, very tasty crispy outsides! The Mac n Cheese is creamy style (which I prefer). We found the Mac n cheese a teensy bland but that was ok; brought our leftovers home & embellished w/ more cheeses. Friendly personable staff, very clean restaurant w/ a great divey-vibe.

Several YouTube influencers highly recommended this place so I had it on The List of restaurants to try. The outside of the place is not attractive but the interior was eclectic and visually stimulating. It's a cross between a curio shop and a Chinese dive bar. I ordered the chicken...of course! Thus is what they do, after all. The waiter was friendly and accommodating. The chicken? Burnt, dry...and not fresh. It tasted just like it looked. I was seriously disappointed. It had spice but no flavor....no seasoning. It wasn't the hype. It wasn't a bad day. It was just bad. I am continuing my search for the best fried chicken in Washington.

Admittedly I've been to this place within the first month they were open, but didn't have much of a memory, so went back many years later. We stood at the front counter close to 5 minutes before being greeted or seated. For having very limited customers dining in, this was odd. The dining /bar areas are very dimly lit with so much character with toys, figurines, and other various items around the top of the venue, We were seated and immediately informed that a party of 40 were coming in 20 minutes to the section we were seated in. (We asked to move prior to their arrival and were switched to a table more toward the front. The wait time on 2 wings / 1 side for each of us was about an hour, (there were only 3-4 other tables with diners). One of 4 drinks was also sent back, When the food arrived, I was impressed by the MASSIVE chicken wings! After breaking away 3 plus layers of breading, you'll find the wings are average sized. The server, Al, was a saving grace for this visit, he was real apologetic about the situation and checked on us while scrambling around prepping for the big party trickling in. (Note: the Mac n cheese was off the menu to us, as the party had purchased all remaining amounts) I've heard about sisters and brothers being on the more expensive side, so as expected, the meal described above with 2 drinks and tip was just over $100. Thank you for the effort Al!

Years ago, I had a delicious Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich at Sister's and Brothers when they were located across from Boeing field in Seattle. I was excited that they were still in business after all these years. They were our first stop on our trip back to Seattle. Their current space is a bit disheveled and very dated. No one was at the door and I had to walk into the kitchen to see if they were open. We were seated in an old leather booth that has seen better days. Our order of hush puppies came out first and were fine. We ordered the Nashville hot chicken with fries, Nashville hot chicken tenders and fried green tomatoes accompyied with a dipping sauce. Our food arrived piping hot and generous helpings, but those are are the only redeeming qualities here. The fries were undercooked, while the fried green tomatoes were limp, flavorless and just plain terrible. The chicken was crispy, some spice and decent but not even close to my memory. Our waitress was occasionally attentive, but not interested in "how was your food." A total waste of a dining experience that I had previously cherished. It is obvious that the restaurant is in survival mood. It is off my Seattle List, but I'm not sure the staff really cares. If you are going to Seattle and searching for good Nashville Hot Chicken, take Sister's and Brothers off your list. The restaurant, staff and food are all very tired.

You would have never expected a space so large from that unassuming exterior. Sisters and Brothers interior is both eccentric yet cozy; you'll be surrounded by warm lighting and vintage Garfield plushies. As for the food, it is just as comforting as the inside of the restaurant. I can't disagree with some other reviews that say it's pretty pricey, however! For the amount of food you're given in a portion, I have no complaints about the corresponding price. My partner and I were eating leftovers for about two meals after. The only thing I did not really like was the mac and cheese, but my love for the other dishes (the fried okra!!!) outweighs the minor blandness present in that particular side. Service here is also excellent :) everyone seems to be on the same wave length of the environment they're working in and we had no issues getting seated or getting our food.

Sandwich was huge and super good. Fried pickles were bread and butter pickles... super off putting and would've liked to know before ordering

Sisters and Brothers is a good option when wanting comfort food, and specialty drinks while watching games. The service and food are both equally good. The overall space is accommodating for families, but still a casual/dive bar ambiance. When you can always aim to support local small businesses; I definitely recommend!

As diners drive ins and dive visits go this one was meh... the front house guy was very cool and the place has a super hip fin classic rock vibe. It's certainly a great place to visit. The food was okay, I had a dark meat chicken sandwich with Seattle hot sauce and it was pretty hot but tasty. The chicken was remarkably crispy but sadly over done I ate it so I can't throw this place under the bus. The service was through the roof good. The front house guy was very friendly and personable. This is a great destination for drinking with hour friends just don't expect great food.

I've been to their old location a few times, but the new locations menu that I have found looks like they don't serve full pieces of chicken. Just wings, tenders and a sandwich? Can anyone confirm that?

What kind kind of chicken do they use on the chicken sandwich, ie. thigh meat, breast meat or tenders?

I haven't had the sandwich - but the tenders definitely taste (and look like) like breast meat.

The bar tenders here are cool and friendly people who pour drinks with a heavy hand, and understand the mission: get the patrons who want to be drunk, drunk. The first few times I visited, I felt a leeriness about ordering food. But once I got over myself, I kinda fell in love with the menu, and I've probably eaten everything on it (including the clam chowder). Their hot dogs are wonders to behold, utter symphonies for the senses, and I refuse to visit Shorty's without getting one. Best dog in Seattle? Why yes. I think so. During that time, the bartender came back to our table at least four times within about five minutes. Instead of being attentive, it felt pushy and aggressive, especially since they were still deciding what they wanted. All orders have to be made from an app on your phone so make sure you have a fully charged device! When we logged in the app, it was confusing to manage at first so we worked with the server to put our orders in. She had to put in our orders for us a couple of times and then we figured out how to work the system after that. To do the math for those reading the review and maximize the number of items you can order with the 90 minute window, you can potentially order up to 18 sets of skewers per person. Each set of skewer has two sticks. My hubby and I missed a few items from our order but we were getting full after my 10th skewer and his 15th skewer so it did not matter too much! The AYCE menu also has options to order zaru soba, corn cheese, and takoyaki! Presentation is great but I wish the flavor matched the visuals. The standout skewers for us were the boruta pork and the wagyu beef tongue. I was really hoping that the yakitori would be crispier and had more of a smokey flavor but I really can't complain too much for the price point. Andrew (our server) introduced us to his sidekick, who was in training. Love that personal, hands on approach for a mew team member, and Sidekick did a great job in monitoring our table and replenishing water. Have to stop here and express my appreciation for Andrew and how he took the time to explain the philosophy and genuine team vibe of the restaurant. Oftentimes when a restaurant adds a flat 20% gratuity, you get the feeling this is not passed on to the servers. Not so here. He explained that it's shared among the servers, bar, and other staff, with only a bit retained by management, but even that finds its way into their wages. Terrific work environment and happy to see it. It definitely shows in the level of service. But we're here to eat. Didn't take a picture, but one of my dining companions ordered the burrito with red chili sauce and it was very good. Just the right amount of heat in the sauce. The Cantina celebrates Taco Tuesday, so I took advantage of this. You get the opportunity to try 5 different street tacos for the low price of $15. For another $4 you order it fully loaded which is a steal (guac, pickled onions, lettuce, giardano, crema, and another lovely sauce). Each of the tacos were really delicious and packed full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower and the beef. Was surprised how much I liked the popcorn chicken - still juicy and not greasy in the least. Andrew treated us to a round of the hatch green chili. I was delighted because it was a dish I wanted to try. He described it perfectly: a little kick, but you can't stop eating it. He was right. A bowl of this in the winter with their cornbread (which I'm confident will be delicious) will preempt a winter cold. The sauces on the table are not to be ignored either. The green chili sauce was fruity with a little heat, the scorpion chili brings the heat, but their homemade chili oil is phenomenal. I could put this on everything. In short, the Cantina delivers. Excellent food, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun staff, and a cool vibe. I'll bet the cocktails will also be good. Definitely adding to the regular rotation!

While I don't know why people don't go, I do know why I don't. The last time I was there I was being actively ignored by multiple barkeepers acting super busy, walking up and down and polishing glasses or similar fillers on a non-busy night... Until I got up and walked out slowly to Provisions, a bar right across the street, to get a drink. With this attitude toward service, I'm sure none of them realized what kind of business walked out the door in that moment, given I live within walking distance, happen to like a good whiskey, and believe in tipping handsomely for good service. But I get it...surely they saw me and likely filter for a different type of clientele. It's just that even over the years I've been passing by it hasn't worked. But each to their own; never been back.

Wow, this review is 8 years old! I want to share my experience with Some Random Bar…read more In 2017, my mom and I visited Seattle for me to look at apartments and interview for jobs. We came here to eat because it was near our hotel. I was OBSESSED with the crab nachos. 2 months later, I moved out here all on my own. Now, 8 years later, I live nearby. Whenever someone is visiting, we come here. Whenever I run into a stranger visiting, i say they have to come here. My friends know if i'm celebrating anything, "are you getting crab nachos?!" It's become a part of my personality at this point. I have so much respect for the owners, the way they run their business and their honesty online. No one I've brought here has had a bad thing to say regardless of what they ordered. My go to is: Pull apart bread, crab nachos (with their hot sauce!! which, btw can i buy that by the bottle.. cause YUM) + whatever drink is calling my name (they rotate, but if you can get the pina colada you won't regret it). tldr; you'll regret NOT coming here.

I remembered that their drinks and bourbon selection/pricing used to be incredible. As with all things lately, prices have gone up on some of their rarer pours. The standard basic cocktails though were still reasonable and decently priced for the location. The atmosphere is great and service was pretty quick. The outdoor patio is still there which was a nice addition from 2019/2020 era. Some of their bourbons are still reasonably priced. Their food is pretty good. Would recommend the tacos, the burger, and carne asada. The nachos were not particularly for me, and also seemed to come out cold. Seemed to have cheese sauce instead of actual cheese. It was a cold day however. This place is mainly great for happy hour after work, but will come back and try dinner another time. Staff is great though. Really quaint and awesome spot to post up. good food, good service, good drinks, good selection, and still better pricing than most bars with what they have to offer. Will be going back again sooner. cheers
