this was pretty interesting because it consisted of two completely separate foods with complete opposite flavor profiles starting with the chicken - I ordered the Nashville Hot spice level, which was the second highest spice level you can get. The first and most obvious thing about the chicken was that it was spicy. Like really spicy. That has to be the spiciest chicken I've ever had and it's not close. I was still able to finish both tenders without adding any extra sauce (the waffles helped) but my mouth was on fire at the end - I had to get in some ice cream While normally I like spicy food - I can't say I liked this spice as much because it seemed more like spice caked on to the breading as the seasoning itself - kind of like the only point of the breading was to be spicy. I didn't taste many other flavors in there. This made the eating experience of the chicken not super enjoyable as I didn't really enjoy each bite as much as I was just getting through it To add to this, the breading was nice and crispy, but it didn't attach to the chicken as well as I would like. It frequently peeled off the meat itself. It also didn't quite have the oily texture of good fried chicken - was a bit dry As far as the meat itself - I thought it was fine - nothing special but also nothing too bad. Ive been here before when it was in George Town and really enjoyed going back in the day. It wasn't the same & it was a disappointment. The chicken itself comes out with way too much breading, so you end up working through a thick, heavy crust before you ever get to the meat. There's good chicken under there, but the ratio is off enough that the flavor gets lost. The sides didn't quite balance things out either. The mac n cheese was a little on the dry side, missing that creamy comfort you hope for, and the coleslaw didn't bring much flavor, feeling more like a filler than a fresh, tangy contrast to the fried chicken. That said, everything seems fresh, the portions are generous, and with a lighter hand on the breading and a little more attention to the sides, this place could really shine. Service was great! I recently went with a friend and really enjoyed my time. I am quite grateful that one can choose their spice level because I for one like well-spiced food, not spicy. We ordered the hot catfish (Baby Hot) and the chicken and waffles (Naked). The portions were huge! These were meals that could easily be split into two, so I will try to keep that in mind for next time. The chicken and waffles was served with maple syrup and a whisky butter. The wait time on 2 wings / 1 side for each of us was about an hour, (there were only 3-4 other tables with diners). One of 4 drinks was also sent back, When the food arrived, I was impressed by the MASSIVE chicken wings! After breaking away 3 plus layers of breading, you'll find the wings are average sized. The server, Al, was a saving grace for this visit, he was real apologetic about the situation and checked on us while scrambling around prepping for the big party trickling in. This was a good experience once we started eating the food. We ordered online for takeout and had to wait 1/2 hr past the supposed pick up time for it to be ready. So no pictures because we were starving! We had a dark meat platter with Cole slaw, and the thigh took up most of a dinner plate. I was excited that they were still in business after all these years. They were our first stop on our trip back to Seattle. Their current space is a bit disheveled and very dated. No one was at the door and I had to walk into the kitchen to see if they were open. We were seated in an old leather booth that has seen better days. Our order of hush puppies came out first and were fine. We ordered the Nashville hot chicken with fries, Nashville hot chicken tenders and fried green tomatoes accompyied with a dipping sauce. Our food arrived piping hot and generous helpings, but those are are the only redeeming qualities here. The fries were undercooked, while the fried green tomatoes were limp, flavorless and just plain terrible. The chicken was crispy, some spice and decent but not even close to my memory. Our waitress was occasionally attentive, but not interested in "how was your food." A total waste of a dining experience that I had previously cherished. It is obvious that the restaurant is in survival mood. It is off my Seattle List, but I'm not sure the staff really cares. You would have never expected a space so large from that unassuming exterior. Sisters and Brothers interior is both eccentric yet cozy; you'll be surrounded by warm lighting and vintage Garfield plushies. As for the food, it is just as comforting as the inside of the restaurant. I can't disagree with some other reviews that say it's pretty pricey, however! For the amount of food you're given in a portion, I have no complaints about the corresponding price. My partner and I were eating leftovers for about two meals after. The only thing I did not really like was the mac and cheese, but my love for the other dishes (the fried okra!!!) outweighs the minor blandness present in that particular side. I personally think that this is the top fried chicken joint in Seattle in 2025. As someone who grew up eating Ezells (I used to pronounce it Eee - Zeah - llZ) while sipping Faigo soda I spent lots of time in the CD where there were many fried chicken options. I used to l go to Tony's to get the Viet fried chicken, Saigon deli to get their fried chicken cut up in bulk for banh mi's, and went to the grocery store in the CD by the Fact that had fried chicken. There are many other restaurants like Skillet. BOK BOK, and Oasis that make good chicken. For me it's about balance. Sisters and Brothers has a nice flavor profile of spices and heat that makes me want more. The fry is not as greasy and there is more of a crispiness and tenderness that is harmonious. I have noticed that Seattle fried chicken is good but it's more on the mild side. I could be wrong and this is my opinion. Seattle doesn't seem to do bold and in your face. Red Apple market is a good example back when they were open in the Prominade on Jackson. It was little to mild heat and good but not great. I really enjoy the southern flavor, the hush puppies and the various sides. I've eaten the chicken and other offerings many times and usually do take out because the line is long. Even after bringing the chicken home after 10-20 minutes the food is piping hot and the flavor profiles don't change. Everything is satisfying and I look forward to eating in person. I got seattle spice chicken tenders and it came with 3 huge pieces with a side of mac and cheese. The chicken was so flavorful and perfect amount of spice for me. It was juicy and crispy. My friends got the nashville and they said it was good but the spice was only in certain spots. The mac and cheese was soooo goood. I'm already planning my next trip back. Came here to try their Nashville fried chicken. I ordered the wings with slaw. I did wait a few minutes until someone (initial server) asked me what I needed. They did have a sign that said "please wait to be seated" and as a first timer, I figured I'd wait and someone would help me. I told him I was waiting to be seated as the sign said. The wings were MASSIVE and tasted of Nashville hot. When you eat the breading which was crunchy and had tons of crunch, the breading would fall off and you would just be eating the meat. It was all tasty and moist but it was hard to eat in general. The slaw was a good palette cleanser. It could have used more creaminess but otherwise good. The server that helped me during my meal was nice and kept checking in on me. Lastly, the server (initial server) had mentioned to another couple that it was half off mimosas and had not mentioned it to me. The dish came with 2 large pieces of fried chicken with nice crunchy breading and moist chicken, but the breading was oddly very salty. I ate the entire waffle, but I could barely finish 1 tender since it was so salty. I'm surprised that most of the other reviews hadn't mentioned how salt it was. The service was alright (we came with a reservation for 8), our server seemed a little busy with other tables (we were there between 12 and 2 pm on a Sunday). The whole restaurant had some cool decorations and was dimly lit with lights that sort of looked like lanterns. For parking, there's some next to the restaurant, max ~10 cars. This is an unusual restaurant, which we enjoyed almost more for the ambience than for the food. That said, the food is good. Both my husband and I got the chicken tenders, I got it "naked", meaning no spicy heat whatsoever, and it was definitely prepared that way. Though there were people inside, it was far from packed. Most of them seem to be seated closer to the bar. We were seated at a booth immediately, and the food came in a short amount of time. Very friendly and efficient staff. Seems odd to me though that they close at 9 PM on a Friday... I would think that 10 or even 11 would be better, but maybe not enough people know about them. I wouldn't be surprised if takeout is their main business, as there are a lot of apartment buildings around it.
