I think I came to Sisters 5 times already. I love the interior decoration, its super cute - believe it or not, the bathroom is even better You have an option to sit outside or inside, they have outside front seating and back seating. I love their Donald roll and roti green curry appetizer (it's the only ones I keep ordering, I'm sure the rest are just as good) .. the roti has a nice light crisp dipped into the curry sauce .. so good. I had their beef drunken noodles and chicken penang curry ... can't go wrong with curry. They give a decent amount of chicken pieces. The drunken noodles were chewy and delicious - it had enough flavoring, not overpowering. The only item I've tried where I wasn't impressed is the Crispy Duck Kaprow... barely any duck meat, I felt like I just ate the breaded part of it. On to their desserts.. magnolia desserts. Oh my - the pocky toast is by far my favorite. The strawberry isn't too strong ... but the toast is just warm and not rough, not TOO soft... so much flavor ..paired with the ice cream that it comes with taste so good. I also enjoy their match waffle .. the waffle isn't rock hard either. All their carbs are just ... deliciously warm and made well. I also tried their mango yogurt - has little mango jellies on top.. it taste very refreshing for me. Overall experience (well I've been 5 times already right... says a lot). I find Sister Thai very attractive when I saw all of the pictures and some positive reviews, as I was hoping that the flavor of their food would be as good as their cozy cute atmosphere but it wasn't. I was actually really excited to check this place out as I know that this is also the same own by Magnolia cafe in Virginia. Just because I remember really love the VA location because everything we ordered from their menu was always hit the spot. The only problem I had was the longer wait and distance, unlikely I felt a little disappointed after I walk out Sister Thai. If you're looking to have a cute romantic atmosphere moment then this is the place but if you're looking to get a good Thai food just like I do. I'd probably say... not this place. Let's me talk more about it : Service, we got there 2 minutes before opening and I felt uncomfortable already to be the first customer to walk in 2 minutes early, but they do let us in and be seated and serve us right away. They sit us in the first room right across from the bar and the enter/exit door. And here's the part where it begins to feel uncomfortable, all the worker we're all standing/sitting at the bar right where we sat. They keep coming back and forth to us and keep and eyes on us a little too much (not sure because we were the first customer so they try to be customer service!?!) They begin to have conversations a little loud that we could or be part of the conversation except we don't understand what they are talking about but hoping we weren't the topic of their conversation. At this point I was already disappointed with the our ordered but try to finish as much as possible, then later I ask for boxes to go and a check. 2 groups of people walk in and and they kinda look overwhelming already. But we were glad we finished and get to go. The server brought us check and 2 boxes with no bag (or offer us plastic bag/paper bag) even if they charge 5cents for bag like groceries or other places (Maryland bags fee lol) I'd be gladly to pay. But nothing! (How would you feel carry boxes of left over food with 2 toddler walking across the parking to the car!?! If it was you? (For me it would be much easier if it was inside a plastic bag) Food, we ordered the crispy wonton for our kid and it was good (the amount was also perfect) I had Thai ice tea and it was also good, but for my Husband Safire Coffee (hope I spell it right) was okay. He said his noodle soup was okay he could go with it. My drunken noodle was not good and so does Som Tum set. The portion of food is actually really decent for the price but still not hit the spot yet I felt. I'm not a spicy type of person, and everywhere I go for Thai food I always requested a non spicy if possible so it has nothing to do with spice but the actual flavor. Overall experience, I give this place a 2 and a half just because they let us in early and serve us right away, also the cute atmosphere and convenient location. I expected so much more from Sisters! Anyways I was craving some noodles so I decided to go with Thai food which I typically get from Bangkok Garden. Anyways the food was good but it's definitely overrated. I don't mind paying for overpriced Thai food but I felt like I got the lunch portion when I paid for the dinner portion. Typically one dish of most Asian foods is enough to share with 2 people but that was not the case here. My boyfriend and I were still hungry afterwards. Really mediocre and bad service. Combined, for these two reasons I won't be back. We ordered the pad Thai, duck kra pow, green curry, and stir fried veggie. It took over thirty minutes for our food to come when all the tables around us (who were seated and ordered after us) got their food first. When we finally got our food we were so disappointed. The duck was so over cooked it was basically jerky. The pad Thai tasted like plain noodles--did they forget the sauce? The other two dishes were just ok. But on top of that, the waiter never refilled our small water glasses despite our spicy food. She never checked on us to see if our meal was ok, or we would have asked for more water. This place had some pretty unique ambiance, the restaurant is designed to make you feel like you are eating in someones living room, they have bookshelves around the tables filled with books and toys, a fireplace with stockings and TV mounted above. The food was also good, I ordered the BAMEE POO MOO - DANG which is Egg noodle with roasted pork, crabmeat and Chinese broccoli. It wasn't the best, wasn't the worst, however my friend ordered the curry which looked really good, and said it was amazing. We were seated with a newspaper designed menu, again to make you feel like you were in someone home and they had a warm fireplace nearby. I also do not generally make a point to comment on a restaurants bathroom, however I feel like I have to give a shout-out. They have a large flat screen, with custom windows with a wallpaper of the New York city skyline. Good food and variety. We eat habanero peppers and Carolina reapers and have a friend who is a Thai chef in Bangkok so we have eaten spicy food for decades. We ordered everything Spicy as usual. Not Thai Spicy, just Spicy. The Yom Yum and Larb were so beyond Thai Spicy that we couldn't eat them - seemed like it was the oil in those dishes. The Green Curry Pork and Duck Kaprow were between mild and medium (though quite welcome after the other dishes). So maybe dumb it down to medium if you don't want burning. I honestly do not gravitate to eat Thai very much, but decided to give Sisters a try and absolutely loved it! I highly recommend getting the Crispy Duck Ka Prow! Everything I have tried there was delicious, but that dish is by far my favorite. Other items I had were the steamed dumplings, Sisters Fried Rice, Drunken Noodles, Mango and sticky rice (dessert), and Thai iced tea. The steamed dumplings were good, just not my favorite so I don't know if I would order them again- would rather try a new appetizer. They also are more like shu mai from dim sum instead of your typical asian dumplings. read more

I like Tai food, that's why I was there on 11/17/2021, after I was discharged from a nearby hospital and starving. I was also not well dressed because of my hospital stay. The "server", her name was "Min" was very dismissive towards me and my husband. Min directed us to an outdoor table, which I believed need to be cleaned, her response was very assertive, "It IS clean." then she walked away. I asked another lady to clean the table, Min came back to her and spoke to her in a foreign language. Again she was dismissive. I told her directly that I don't like her attitude, she again simply walked away, and told me straightly forward, " You can talk to my manager." Then Min never came out again. Another lady came back to me, first time, she told me the manger went out to pick up things right in the cabin john village, she'll be back shortly. I said I could wait outside. After a while, the lady came out again, asked my phone number, the manager will call me. At this point, I asked if this "server" Min, is a relative of the business owner of this restaurant, the lady was hesitant but had to admit that it is true. I really did not want give this lady a hard time. I just left. So, take home message- You are judged by your appearance, very likely skin color too in this place. If you are white or black, you are safe. If you are Asian, you need to be carefully before going there. If I wear my usual business attire that day, I probably would be treated differently. It is such a shame, a single server, who is ignorant and arrogant, can ruin your appetite of the food you used to enjoy. BTW, I have lived in the neighborhood for 5-6 years. read more

Wow. I am grateful that this one opened in the neighborhood! Let me start off by saying that we will definitely be back. They have a pretty good space- not too small, not too big that you will be forgotten. They have a nice outdoor seating that is clean and quite hidden from the parking lot view. The server would always watch the front portion of the restaurant where we were nicely seated to make sure that you have everything that you need. They always refill your water. The quality of the food is so good. The drinks are so worth it as well. I had the Ruby Lychee and it was not too sweet which I loved. We had the duck entrees: duck kaprow, duck curry. They were both good and different in my opinion. We also tried the calamari for appetizer, as well as the green curry with roti. For dessert, we wanted to try the mango sticky rice but they were out of it that day. We had the HOMEMADE waffles with nutella banana which was worth the wait!! Their bathroom is clean and as you can see gorgeous. The staff is friendly and it seems like the owners would always be there as well making sure everything is alright. Ordering on the website couldn't be easier and allows for customization of dishes, with selection of spice selections and substitutions (including brown rice!), and credit card payment. Been to a Thai restaurants many times and this is the worst Thai restaurant: the waiters have a very bad attitude and rudeness; the bill is forced to add a 25% service charge without telling the customer, and it is implied that the customer adds an additional tip. As soon as the bill was paid and before the meal was finished, the waiter began to drive the guests away. The restaurant also allegedly discriminates against other Asians. read more

I just had dinner at Sisters/Cabin John and once again felt that that human relations/ Service business is at the heat of a restaurant business. people don't go to restaurants just to eat. They come together, eat and socialize. We were at Sisters, ordered entries, salads, main courses and 2 turns of cocktails but I guess this was not enough for the management and kept sending a staff member to send the check/ change the position of the check after we just ordered our 2nd drinks. There were empty tables, and I didn't see a policy which said the max. time we can be there should've limited to 2 hours. so my they ruined a fun night to be spent with friends to a bad night. I had a little issue with the online ordering, and so called, and the woman who answered the phone was very nice and it was easy to order over the phone. This is our favorite Thai restaurant for at least three separate reasons. First, the interior design - you sit in a library-like setting and the menu looks like a newspaper - is very appealing. Second, they have Thai street food section with unique and interesting dishes that you don't normally see in other area Thai restaurants. Third, and most important, they have excellent desserts. I don't care very much for Far Eastern desserts; be it Thai, Vietnamese, or Indian. I always skip the dessert and eat ice-cream somewhere else. But Sisters has the best desserts not only for a Far Eastern restaurant but also when compared with all area restaurants. The three of us first shared a Khaosoi soup (from the Thai street food section), which was very good. For the main dish, my son had the Som Tum Set (from the chef recommendations section), which he liked very much. My wife had the Bamee Poo Moo Dang (from the street food section), which she said was good but nothing to write home about. I had the Massaman Curry, which is the curry dish I like more than the other red, green and yellow versions of curry, because the Massaman has some sweet side to the spicy curry. It was excellent. And then we shared the Signature Mini Toast dessert - a dream!!! read more
