It's very upsetting. Do not support this business if you are Black or Brown. They prioritize White customers. We waited for an hour, in line, just so the manager can sit patrons that came AFTER US. The manager said the reason why we can't sit down, is because they can't enforce their 2hour policy. They offered to take our drinks, while we were in line. IN LINE! 5 stars because there really wasn't anything wrong, and I'm not easily disappointed so :) Ended up here on a Friday night with my girlfriend, and had a great time! We arrived at 10 caught the drag show at 11, had a few rounds of drinks and danced till 3am! Bartenders were great and quick, drinks were strong and s tasty. We didn't have any food and when we got there there were no tables, only standing room. It didn't bother us since we were there for the drinks only. We didn't visit the roof but the party was lit in the basement! Also, the mix of people there were cool, lots of fun vibes, no dirty looks or racist vibes, which we were weary of b/c of pst reviews. The racism at that my friends and I experienced at this place was just too much. Not only did we have crappy service from the staff and decided to leave, but the staff downstairs was just 100% unprofessional. I went to the "manager" (the staff meme her apparently lied about being the manager) to let him know of our experience and that my house keys and car keys were inside and they not only refused to let me in to retrieve my keys but they also were very condescending and cavalier when I described the experience I had with my friends at their gay club where racism was rampant against us. The manager then said they're not letting anyone else in yet when I was out there speaking to them i witnessed them letting several white patrons in. I also recall the "manager" saying he Doesn't have time for this and he walked away.. the bouncer was no better. The situation was such a mess that I even had to call the cops! The cops came and that's when they pretended like they would let me in the entire time Even though they wouldn't. The cops were the ones that walked me in there at least try to find my belongings (at this point there were several patrons inside and obviously the tables were cleared). This is when I met the actual manager who allegedly was never updated when I initially asked to speak with a manager. It was so funny how the entire staff pretended to try to help me AFTER I called the cops. This is a mess of an establishment, the staff is shady and racist and it is clear that certain clientele are treated a particular way over others and I will never return. They didn't even asks me for my contact information so that I could retrieve my belongings until after I called the cops. If you're not fair skinned or of a certain hue, don't go there . I went last night to Six 26 01/13, the place is gorgeous. Finally a nice place for LGBT community. I'm giving three stars for the following reasons: 1) No coatcheck, even though they have a coat check room. It was hard to move around with heavy coats, hats etc. 2) I hate the music, Six26 is now my favorite place, they have better music, coatcheck and the crowd is amazing, just not happy that a drink with a Jersey Vodka Corgi is $12.00. read more

This review is for multiple visits. Our first was for Sunday Brunch. It was nice. Not extraordinary but we had a good time. It was much easier than going to the shore or Manhattan from Central NJ. As there are only 5 gay bars left in all of NJ this was nice, even with the toll on the Turnpike. It seemed friendly and diverse. This was on the rooftop. We also had the opportunity to speak to the manager who encouraged us to come back for the nightlife as they have four floors, including the rooftop. Well, we came back on a Friday with much hope for a great time. We went down to the basement level and it seemed nice. There was dancing and the drinks were okay, and a diverse crowd. This was okay for early, but unfortunately it got no better. We tried walking upstairs to the rooftop or other floors. Well, first the bouncer kept screaming at us that we couldn't go upstairs even though there was no rope or sign or anything. Even when we were walking back down he kept screaming that we couldn't go upstairs. What was his problem? So it turns out the rooftop wasn't open even though it was a beautiful evening. And, it turns out the other two floors are for the *straight* club with the entrance on the other side of the building. So of the "four floors of nightlife", the "gays" were relegated to the small, windowless basement. But wait, it gets worse. A drag show commenced. I don't mind drag shows per se, but there is no stage, so it was right in the middle of the dance floor, so not only could you not see anything unless you were in the circle of people right in front, but the rest of the club (room) was extremely crowded and you couldn't really do anything. And this show went on and on and on. We ended up going to The Pint, which of the 5 gay bars in NJ is ironically just one block over. That was nice. Not a club worth driving an hour for, but nice. We did come back to Six26 later, and there was some dancing, but we really didn't like that it was just the basement and we were really soured by the whole experience. We were thinking about going back on a Saturday or something when maybe there wouldn't be a drag show taking up the whole place, or maybe(?) the rooftop would be open, but A) I contacted Six26 multiple times on social media to ask when the rooftop is open and got no response and B) The whole thing really left a bad taste in our mouths so we doubt we will return. By the time we're in Jersey City, we figure we may as well cross the Holland into NYC where we at least know what we're getting into. As you can see the owner replied, but STILL has not stated when the rooftop is open. Sorry, I'm not travelling there if I don't know whether it will be open. That's just silly. read more

It's been a few years since I left my initial review, which focused on the ambience and music provided at the time. Since then, Six 26 has done so much better with their music, and have clearly listened to feedback when it comes to the DJs they have come through. This place has since felt like the gay bar I wanted it to be, and not some straight bar with nice interior design. It's a go-to now whenever I want to have a fun night in the area. Tried to visit the rooftop today. Walked upstairs and put our names down on the list. Was told about a 30 minute wait for a table. After 50 minutes of waiting and no call from host we walk back and wait outside on Columbus Ave. At this time two women ask us what the wait is and then one goes upstairs and puts her name in. As I am waiting downstairs she then tells her companion that they have a table for them. I then walked back upstairs to see these two women had a seats pulled up to the bar area for them. Why couldn't that have been done for us, two regular customers who have spent hundreds of dollars at this place since it opened? We asked about this and was repeatedly lied to by the host who said they were on the wait list, clearly untrue. The host then also told us that those seats shouldn't even be there. He seems flustered that we were calling him out for not following the "rule of first come first served". I will gladly bring my business to other restaurants in the area, where personal preference of who is dining and drinking doesn't matter, and will be sure to tell my friends to take their business elsewhere. read more

The bartender in the BLM shirt was too busy giving free drinks to the women flirting with him to pay attention to the actual paying patrons. The DJ switches songs every 20 seconds. I timed it. Came on a Friday night for drinks and stayed for both of the drag shows that night. The performers were so sweet and although the shows were pretty mediocre, their personalities made it such an entertaining experience. The bartenders were super friendly, the music was on point, and the vibe was really fun and inclusive as most gay bars are. Meh experience - left disappointed. (Queer, cis, woman) Came with my two roommates pretty early in the evening (like 7pm). Bouncer was super friendly and welcoming. Started with a round of shots which took forever to come to the table even though the place was only half full. The rest of the evening we had to flag down our waitress multiple times to order anything and it all took a very long time to get to us. Waitress and bar tender were not rude but were both pretty short with us. As a result we all just felt unwelcome - perhaps it's not the space for me. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!! Everyone from the door guy, to the waiter to the manager is super friendly! Please be advised that this is a restaurant as well as a bar but not suitable for children, regardless of how early in the day it is including the weekend drag brunch. In all fairness, this rule is completely justified for obvious reasons and shouldn't have to be explained to patrons so I apologize to staff for even asking. Contrary to that, I showed up on taco Tuesday starving with a pregnant sister and 5 month old baby lol. We didn't take the venue type into consideration but it was also our first time in Jersey City and we hadn't thought it out that far so that's on us! We just heard great things about the food and it certainly did not disappoint, we were all very satisfied. The super friendly staff, allowed us to dine anyway and we really really appreciated that and I must say, the tacos are sooooooooo good!!!! The lamb chops, to die for! Ugh! Delicious! Perfect really in fact, we had to come back the following week (and even I snuck off a couple other nights out of the week alone to enjoy the ambiance and beautiful patrons that it attracts lol). I want to give this place 5 starts because it's amazing but there is 100% an issue with pricing when the bill comes. I'm not a cheap guy looking for any handouts but on separate occasions, my bill did not match the menu or verbally stated price for drinks. I was also charged for wings that never arrived, it happens, no big deal but I'm not rich. At happy hour, I paid regular price for all of my drinks which I said nothing, I wanted to come back and didn't want to cause trouble. The second time, my bill was correct but did not match my bank statement which meant, the tip was wrong I assume charging me more than I authorized, I never mentioned that either, instead I still came back and it happened again. This could be for a variety of reasons which I'm not sure and I don't wish to accuse anyone of anything. Now I'm somewhere between "I would never come back due to the blatant bill discrepancies " & "I will DEFIANTLY return but if needed, simply address discrepancies on the bill or just pay cash next time". I am literally still at this club. My friends and I got here before 10:00. We have been waiting for more than 50 minutes at the bar of the rooftop area. I get that there are only two people bartending, but the man serving has literally waved at us and served other people. 50. Minutes. There's no excuse when dozens of people have been served before us, and the woman bartender served everyone on her side in a timely manner. The aesthetics were nice, and we were prepared to spend a lot of money, but the male bartender was so rude that we have decided to leave and go somewhere that will actually serve us. read more

The drink was perfectly fine, bartender friendly, great layout/space and very clean looking/smelling (which isn't always the case with a basement venue). But PLEASE Mr DJ, lower the damn speakers just a TAD. It was not even deep into the disco night for grooving, but about 6-6:30 for the happy hour/supper crowd, and I had to shout on the top of my lungs for the bartender to hear my drink order. WHY do you have to blare so loudly so early in the evening, that you cannot hear your own voice? Seriously. Just a tad lower guys, and maybe I'll be back for happy hour. Also, straight women are not a big deal, however I think it's wrong to come to gay bar and flirt with lesbians and confusing them.. we don't have many places for us to be safe, and to meet right people... ok. Came here at 5:30 or so on Saturday evening and sat at the bar which was empty. They asked "would you like to open a tab?" So I handed them my credit card. About 15 minutes later (totally empty bar) we asked to close out. They claimed we never gave them a credit card and tried to make us feel guilty and stupid and acted like we were lying to them. A couple of people stopped by to claim "you never gave us a card". I was certain I did. I checked my wallet twice to satisfy them. After about five minutes of looking they held up a broken martini glass and my American Express card from behind the bar somewhere on the floor. No apology. No "sorry I accused you of lying to us" etc. just a bill. Steer clear. Stay on the PATH and just go to nyc where the established gay life is. I wish I could vouch for the local bar in NJ. But I'm afraid I can't. Nobody ever tried anything like this with me in NYC. You know, if this were one person ... whatever ... I'd let slide. They were having a bad day. Mind you, my perspective is that of a cisgender female whose sole intention was to dance my ass off and look at pretty men which is why this place gets 4 stars. None of the tables were taken so we sat. We were informed by hostess that we needed to order from a server to be seated there. It was a blessing she didnt make us get up even tho we already ordered drinks at the bar. The seating was helpful to store our belongings safely and for respite when we hated a song that came on. It got packed around 11pm. The crowd was a mix of straight couples and lgtbiq groups. The dance floor got hot!! The caged dancers were awesome and let some randos take over the spotlight because they were so talented. The bartender remembered my order everytime despite how many orders he took throughout the night which was nice. Drink prices are a bit high for jc. The bathroom has an attendant in the mens room. Bottle service is 300 to 500 for a table. Honestly to get around that id show up at 930 again and order food and drinks from a server to avoid the bottle expense. The bartenders were hot af. It was hard to not stare and i admit to total creeper levels of eyeballing. The music was meh which was why loss of 1 star. It was too random, like there was no understanding of what the lounge wants to be. Some 90s madonna, some cardi, some reggaeton, some top 40. I guess he was trying to please everyone? By 2am , the aisle you have to walk through to get anywhere in the bar was packed and you literally had to push people out of the way and squeeze through unavoidingly rubbing against people to get to the bathroom. I would def go on a date here. Its technically a gay club but it was so nice to see the eclectic group. Everyone was welcome. LOVE this place! On June 26th, Six26 had a vowel renewal ceremony to celebrate the beauty of marriage equality achieved in the states. I was a happy engaged-to-be and the event seemed to be the perfect spot. I contacted the event planners and they were incredible. I could not have created a more beautiful memory than asking my (now wife ) to marry me. Since then, we have visited the lounge and even brought our wedding party there to celebrate the night before our wedding. The vibe is just... love. It's an incredible experience every time. The food is AWESOME! I would try the steak skewers and the shrimp cocktail - they were epic. I really was not expecting the food to be that good. The wings are also a very smart choice. The only part of six26 that is more stunning that the rooftop is the staff. What an absolutely beautiful staff this establishment has. Looking forward to making even more memories! read more

So been here twice ..it's nice that they have a local place for the LGQBT community. But the drinks are not good and they charged us different prices for the same drinks. This is unacceptable the bartender gave me a weird look when I decided to close out my purchase instead of leaving it open. We were at a table and server came over and told us that we couldn't sit there unless we were ordering food. Are you kidding me we noticed many people at tables who were just ordering drinks! I don't know if it was just the day I went but I guess the only thing is that the music can be a little too loud before the show which makes it hard to have a conversation beforehand and talk to servers. Weekend nights are surprisingly crowded once the downstairs dance floor opens late. Now for the bad, the prices are definitely NYC. Happy hour ends early here so prep for those $10 well mixed drinks and $12 Tito's. Rooftop serves bar food and apps but the service is slow and apps will never come out before the food. MUST READ I am more than happy to give this bar 5 stars tonight. Every time I've been here before I've always had a good time, I know the staff & I love how they interact & take care of every person who walks in but tonight was the first night, on a Saturday of all days that I come in during 25% capacity. I sincerely want to applaud the entire staff for the care and attention they paid to making me feel safe tonight. There was a line outside which I was expecting as I'm in the industry also and know that 25% means people gotta wait but the bouncer kept us 6 feet apart & a server, JP came outside and began taking peoples food orders!!!! SERIOUSLY?! the level of service that is alone is wonderful & I don't even do that at my job. He knew the kitchen would be closing and anticipated our wants and needs & went above and beyond what I've ever seen anyone do in JC. Once inside I was extremely impressed at the spaciousness and VIBESSSSS. GOOD ENERGY all around and you could tell the guests felt good. The Music is always bomb so people were dancing at their tables and it just made you wanna do the same. Every bartender was attentive and you could really feel them smile through their masks & Eddie took extra care of us and was super personable & Jackie was my favorite person to talk to. Thank you for the bomb service! FOOD HIT ME not long at all as we got sat, he fired it as soon we were sat and the timing was perfect & very appreciated. Thank you to him for recommending the classic Buffalo cause that's how I judge my wings and they were BOMB. I honestly had takeout at home already, I don't care, I heard the wings were good and I'm glad I got em. My friend got the garlic parm and they were perfect...crispy, not overly garlicky & nice shredded parm. He also got the chicken quesadilla and I stole one and I don't regret it at all. Every single table was spaced a bit more than 6 feet apart & it gave room for everyone to be able to vibe and dance while staying at their table. It seriously felt like a bunch of VIP tables & I am really grateful for this experience. I know and personally feel the hardship of being at only 25% at work and I appreciate that there is another restaurant in our downtown JC area doing what needs to be done to make people safe.
