I had never been at a Sizzler before, but I had seen Anthony Bourdain eat there during an LA episode and thought that I wanted to try this place if I ever found myself in a situation where there's nothing non-chain-y around. So we just stopped for a night in Oceanside on a roadtrip and found ourselves in a Motel 6 right across the street from this Sizzler. I knew it was now or never. The place was almost empty, since it was an hour before closing, but we were greeted very nicely and picked out our order. I was not aware how MASSIVE this salad bar is, otherwise I would have skipped the steak. It turned out that the steak was not a highlight anyway. I wanted it medium and got it well done, my side of riblets was burned... but I didn't want to send it back, because there was so little time left. So I dug into the salad bar offerings and was more than rewarded. Wow! I liked that they had non-mayonais-y (yes I know, I do that "thing-y" a lot today) salads like edamame and chickpea etc. Also the leaf lettuces were nice and crisp as if they had just been put there - half hour before closing... I didn't even start on the spaghetti, tacos and other hot foods, but they looked good! Service was very nice and attentive, although they started cleaning up around our table while we were still eating. All in all, great salad bar, not so great meat. When I see a Sizzler next time and have no other places to go, I will surely get the salad bar experience again (my tipp: don't fill up on the bread basket!!!). read more

Ok, I haven't been to a Sizzler in years! It was my favorite restaurant when I was a child. This location is awesome, super clean, great food, and awesome service! I got my favorite salad bar and of course their yummy cheese bread. I felt like a kid with all the random food on my plate. Leo was my waiter and his service was wonderful! First time here today for a birthday early dinner. There were 4 of us. First we didnt like that we order first before we get seated. We like to look at the menu and see everything, not just pick one on the wall. We felt rushed. Then we were told so seat anywhere. We sat at a booth. 10 mins. Before the server came to us and get our drink orders. 10 minutes. So the food takes a while too, food was okay nothing too great. One of us had the endless ribs, the first order of ribs was just warm, not hot, just warm. But the second one was hot. Steak and the shrimp linguine was okay. I only got full because of the soda. The guy server seemed lost. He doesn't seem to understand what we told him about the to go boxes but he still insisted that one large and one small box was fine. New owners, new staff, new look! Sizzler has always been a quick and easy spot for us to run when we get a salad craving. The staff is in abundance now, it will be interesting to see how long that lasts. Everyone was extremely friendly, hopefully they'll be able to retain this great staff. The rolls they serve are quite delicious! But of course had to also have the cheese bread, wouldn't be a true trip to Sizzler without it. Salads are always good, the clam chowder was good, and I can never resist making pulled pork tacos as a small appetizer. I was unfortunately too full to hit the dessert portion of the salad bar but they had quite a bit more to offer than has been offered in the past. The decor amused me. It went from being a late '80's color decor to what now reminds me of a casino buffet. High ceilings with neon, large flower arrangements, tv's...not a bad thing, I just felt like I was ready to hit the slots after dinner =D read more

I love a lot about this place but I recommend only getting entrees or the salad bar because if you get both you might as well go eat somewhere with better quality food. Fifty dollars later for two people and I didn't even get a entree. This is when the cheap part of me looks at my man and says if you wanna spend that kinda money here okay. They give you baby steaks and their shrimp was soggy because of the juice from the steak. One good thing I've always loved is their house vingerette omg I could bath in it it's more than good. I will just go for the salad bar in the future. They have good chicken, banana pudding, cheesy toast (it's free just ask for it or they won't bring it), soup, and other random almost seasonal like items too. It looks like sizzler may have pest problems. After noticing ants on my plate, I immediately let the manager know. He said "We've had problems with ants but can't use anything strong enough to get rid of them." If that's the case, it may be time to fumigate. He only offered to seat us somewhere else, but by then I had lost my appetite. Despite not being offered a refund, I still left our waiter a generous tip. We immediately left and probably won't come back unless we see a tent on the building. read more

I have been coming for years and I always have the same problem. I order the Senior Steak which comes with the side salad. I understand it may take the server a moment or two to get to my table. The problem is many, many, many times both the salad & entrée arrive at the same time. Why can the cook not see there is a salad with this order and wait on it. OH YA! It's been given to them the moment I pay for it, I'm not even at my table and the steak is being cooked. The server has not even been to my table to find out he has to dash and get DRINKS, SALAD, ETC, ETC, ETC. The only solution the brainless manager (s) have given me is. When I come in tell the cashier to put the steak on hold. Can I ask you, how many restaurants do you even remember doing that. That is not MY problem. Horrible. The cashier was rude and did not honor what the menu said in regards to a salad and a side. She said rudely the salad was the side even the menu stated differently. The food was ok. Way over priced. The bathroom was gross. No toilet paper and feces on the floor and toilet. Very dirty in the dinning room as well as ants on around the salad bar. My bf and I went to Sizzler's today for lunch. We both got the endless salad bar. They had a lot of options to chose from. Our server Leo was very attentive and had excellent customer service skills! He offered us each a baked potato, cheese bread, and dinner rolls (this was all included with the salad bar and did not have to pay extra)plus he checked in with us often to make sure we didn't need refills or anything else. we went to sizzler in vista, lobster was overcooked, falling apart from shell, chef just placed the pieces of lobster on top of shell..we returned this order and they brought us another overcooked lobster, just pieces of overcooked lobster, falling from shell. it was stuffed lobster unto its shell. worst service we have ever had at sizzler!!! new waiter and waitress and management. miss our old sizzler and personnel. never had any problem whatsoever with sizzler before. it was our favorite restaurant. left with a sour taste, not satisfied at all. leo was a great server, do not know if he still works here. to be honest, pains me for this review, but if i can spare the pain of anyone else going to what we went thru, it is worth it. loved sizzler...... read more

We stopped in before everything got shut down due to the Coronavirus on Fridafternoon. My sons love the garlic cheese bread and we like the salad bar. Everything was fresh and very good. This had to be the worst sizzler I've ever been to. My steak was bone dry and burnt, when I asked for rare! The 6oz sirloin was so small and my boyfriend got his medium rare but his turned out overcooked too. The new shrimp options they offer at the front counter aren't very good and I wouldn't recommend it. We tried both and ended up eating more at the salad bar. We don't plan on coming back here ever again, especially when we've had better food at other locations. This one just didn't meet our expectations and I would highly suggest going to eat somewhere else. read more

While my friend and I were waiting for our main courses to be prepared... our awesome waitress was super friendly and made sure we never ran out of garlic cheesy bread or refills of our drinks. This place would make a great restaurant for date night or even large social gatherings of maybe 10 people or so. The buffet had plenty of other dishes like spaghetti, tacos, bread pudding etc. and the salad bars area portion of the buffet seemed to have a lot of dishes a vegetarian might love. Had not been here since they closed for Covid and did some remodeling/revamping. The Covid features were in place and the service was great last night. Mom had the petite rib and I had the salad bar. Decided to go to Sizzlers with the family and the service was good. Zane was very kind and helpful. Constantly came around to come and check to make sure everything was good. Other than that, the food was garbage. All the food that we received was rather cold or felt like it was put into a microwave for 20seconds. My brother got Tri-Tip Sliders and his first Slider had a bone in it. My Italian Herb Chicken was slightly cold and mashed potatoes were cold. All that was offered was a Free Salad Bar and not a refund, the salad bar was even more depressing. The fruits tasted like they were sitting there for hours. My Dad ordered Sirloin Steak and they messed up by getting him Rare instead of Medium-Rare which wasnt too big of a deal, but when he bit into it, it was too chewy and tasted rotten. The side of asparagus was burnt and didn't have any flavor. Also, my cousin had ordered shrimp, the first bite was not all the way cooked through. It seemed that all of our food was rather rushed or not cared for about quality. My sister got the Sirloin Cuts without the Onion, and first of all, it came with the Onions, so she decided to put it to the side, screw ups happen. However, the center of the food was absolutely cold, the outside was decently warm. Overall, was not happy about this experience. My friend and I have. Lunch occasionally at the Sizzler on Plaza Dr and have to say how wonderful the Food and service is each time. We wanted to especially Mention Leo a waiter there that is exceptional and always has a smile on his face and ready to assist. We wanted to Also mention the manager, Brea. This was my first time ever at a Sizzler and this place blew me out of the water! My dad went there for lunch on a Wednesday and I ordered a top sirloin steak & he got a tenderloin w/ mushroom mixture of yumminess & we both got salad bar access as well. Little did we know that there is a huge salad AND food bar in the back where the manager seated us. Their salad options are extensive & even have fresh made ones like ceaser & such as well. The only bad thing I have to say is that they didn't have a more oily balsamic vinaigrette dressing.. it was more creamy, but still tasty. We had a killer server by the name of Leo. He brought us drinks, delicious cheese bread twice, promptly took our dirty plates, brought extra napkins, told me I should try another flavor of lemonade and brought me a second cup before I was done with my first, got us to-go boxes, & even to-go cups, all without us even having to ask or lift a finger. This was my worst experience at any restaurant. The food is overpriced for the portions they serve, and although the waiter was excellent the food came horribly undercooked. We ordered two steak and lobster plates and at the register they presented a display card with the different degrees of cooked meat. We requested medium well and got medium rare. The lobster was still transparent on the inside indicating it was NOT COOKED. We flagged down someone who presented himself as the manager. He apologized and sent it all back to replace and all they did is recook the same food. The manager Sebastian did not offer any compensation and even after we asked the server to ask the manager to come out, Sebastian refused to come out until the server insisted. I indicated to him that my lobster was the same one I sent back and was still uneatable and returned it and he still refused to offer any kind of compensation. I will find some way to get my money back even if I have to go to corporate offices. I certainly would not recommend this location to anyone. I have no idea how Sizzler trains their managers but this guy seems like Sebastian had NO EXPERIENCE OR MANAGER TRAINING. As for the cook he must have came from the same corporate training program, because he obviously had no idea how to cook. Last point....how can Sizzlers expect you to pay a tip before even receiving any service!!!??? We did not choose to tip at the beginning and obvious it effects the quality of food you get. read more
