This is definitely one of my top 2 crawfish places in sj! It's never too busy and I've never waited to be seated. This place is great for small and large groups and the owners are so sweet and attentive. Their crawfish is always really fresh here and their shrimp are jumbo shrimp. My go to sauce is their shambalang but their SJ style is really good too. I've always lagged on reviewing them because even though I liked their food, there were some things that were just alright in my opinion aka their garlic noodles. This all changed today. We came here for our crawfish fix and the owner asked us if we wanted garlic noodles. Having tried their garlic noodles in the past and thinking they weren't that good I politely declined. However he told us that he has a new recipe and told me if I didn't like them I wouldn't have to pay for them. He seemed super confident in his new dish so we gave it a try and OMG they were BOMB. The garlic noodles before were made with dry ass spaghetti pasta, but now their recipe is made with egg noodle. Their new noodles are on par with Clawshacks famous noodles or the less favored Kickin Crab noodles. Best decision of my life. My friends and I came here for the Vietnamese style Cajun food and it was pretty good. The place was also half empty which is a huge bonus considering most of the other places make you wait forever. I particularly enjoyed the house sauce which had a nice thick garlicky and buttery taste to it. The seafood was cooked well and mixed with the sauce pretty well. I'd recommend getting some corn as well as it soaks in the flavor. I also think the shrimp is more enjoyable as there is a ton more meat than the crawfish with a lot less effort to get there. I ordered the combo #2 which is 1 lb of crawfish, 1 lb shrimp, 1 lb clam, 2 corn, 2 potatoes, and 4 sausages with the house special sauce with the spicy spice level. The house special sauce was okay but it was a bit salty for me personally and I didn't find it spicy at all. I usually get seafood boil from Claw Shack but it was closed on the day that I wanted to get it, so I went to SJ Crawfish instead. When I go to Claw Shack, I usually get the shambalang sauce which I like better than the house special sauce at SJ Crawfish. Even though combo #2 has 3 lbs of seafood, I'm not sure if the weight is really accurate since I usually order a 2lb combo from Claw Shack that lasts me 3 meals but the 3lb combo here only lasted me 2 meals. Overall, I still prefer Claw Shack. I would be interested in trying the shambalang sauce here to compare it to the one at Claw Shack but I don't know if I'd want to order the combo here again since it doesn't really seem worth it. read more

My friend and I were on a crave for some Asian Cajun. We happen to stop by here because it was near our hotel. I had ordered the shrimp in the pineapple flavor and it was pretty amazing to me. I added some lemon wedges to give it an extra tang. My friend had ordered the crawfish in the house butter I believe and it was okay for me. The garlic noodle was tasty as well. Very flavorful. Reasons: - Crawfish is decent and doesn't stink or taste funny (from a person who hates the smell of seafood) - SJ Sauce is mixed well. Sweet, sour, savory while having a bunch of garlic chunks. This is still one of my go to places for seafood boil. We recently ordered for take out and when we arrived the staff was super friendly as usual and even made conversation asking how our kids are doing. We usually get combo #2 SJ style medium, chicken fingers and fries (for the kids), and garlic noodles and not once have we been disappointed. Every time we order out they always remind us to open the bag up when we get home to prevent the seafood from over cooking. The crawfish is fresh never frozen, the shrimps are huge, and the SJ style sauce is amazing. The taste never changes. I got a 3lb bag of shrimp with their house sauce. It tastes alright. I wasn't super impressed with the flavor. I think they went a little cheap with the sauce, since there wasn't much in the bag. Kind of wish the sauce was a bit thicker to adhere to the shrimp more. Also got their garlic noodle. The flavor was good, but the texture sucked. They definitely over cooked the noodle. I came late at the night for pickup and the guy was really nice. Though I'm almost got screwed over the $20 or more to use the card policy, the process went smoothly. Okay seafood restaurant. Definitely get it in a box cause the food is greasy. The flavor was mild and edible but not necessarily exceptional. The price compared to portion wasn't quit equal, so keep that in mind. Still on the hunt to find a restaurant with bomb taste and a decent price. This used to be my favorite place to go for a seafood boil because I loved their Sj Style sauce but honestly it's not the same anymore. I haven't ate here in awhile and was excited to eat here. I called ahead to make sure they had fresh crawfish and they said yes! Crawfish season just begun so not a lot of places have fresh right now so I that was the only reason why I came in to eat. I ordered their chicken tenders with fries, buffalo wings, and 2 pounds of crawfish. I was disappointed with every item I ordered. First, the chicken tenders tasted really good until I bit into a really hard part, so hard that it would take a lot of strength to bite into it. There were 3 tenders total and they all had this extremely hard part that took up half the tender. I asked the worker about this and all she said was sorry, that's how they come because they are premade, she said she would offer to make another batch but they would all be the same. I honestly did not want to pay for them because I couldn't even eat them but I'm not going to ask for a refund.. so still had to pay for them. The buffalo wings were okay, not bad but not that good either. I don't think it's worth it's price, I wouldn't order them again. The crawfish was what I was most looking forward to but I was disappointed to realize that it wasn't fresh when I was told it was. All my crawfish lovers would know the difference between fresh and frozen, and they were definitely frozen. Overall, the server was attentive and nice but the food was really disappointing. When I walk in for togo order, everything was smooth I ready to paid and the lady said "It's the first season of the crawfish so its will be $2 extra per lbs, are you okay with that?" My absolute favorite go to place to eat crawfish. The owners are very sweet and honest! Their seafood is very clean and they care about you. I love their variety of sauces. My favorite is the SJ Style. It's not too thick and very saucy if you like to slurp! It has a sweet and salty taste to it. I love being able to really taste the garlic and orangey taste to it. Big chunks! Very recommended. I ate at every crawfish place and none is better than here! I like both the quality and quantity here. The service is great. I get ask many time whether or not I enjoyed it or if I had any comment. Also, they remember you! If you come a whole lot like I do, they remember what you usually like to eat or eat with, etc! To keep it short, you won't catch me here again unless every other option (Kickin' Crab, Boiling Crab, Clawshack, etc.) is closed. My party and I got a combo of a crawfish, shrimp, and clam mixture that also had corn and potatoes. We opted for their house special sauce ... which fell really short. Their "secret ingredients" sauce blend was incredibly subtle and the only taste that was present was their butter (not even really garlic butter). On top of the seafood, we got an order of their garlic noodles which were passable in that the noodle wasn't overcooked or anything, but the garlic taste was also really muted! Found this place by accident because every other place I usually go to was closed during the early lunch hours. I was very pleasantly surprised. Their house sauce was flavorful and had a good kick to it, even with me just getting mild. I got one of the combos and had the clams, mussels, shrimp and crawfish. The crawfish was super fresh and the shell a bit softer and easier to get through. The shrimp was plump and not over cooked like it often can be. The clams and mussels were okay, not amazing like the other two, but still pretty good. They don't use the bigger green mussels, but rather the black mussels that are slightly stronger in flavor. Didn't get to try any of appetizers or noodles, but I may try it next time. Service was great and atmosphere was open. I didn't come home smelling too much like a crawfish boil, so that was definitely a plus. Tip: bring your own gloves if you have them, they only have the flimsy gloves that leak after you peel your 3rd shrimp. read more

I have been coming to this place for the last 8 years. Since the ownership got changed ( around 4 years ago) the place became even better than it was. The menu expanded like 3 times; it used to be one Cajun sauce before, now they have 5. They added fresh oysters as well. Once I tried to place an order over the phone and the owner told me that he change the supplier for oysters and they are not as good as it was with previous supplier. I really appreciated that honesty, My favorite item there is crawfish but the shrimps are pretty good as well. They are big and juicy and not overcooked and pair good with their garlic noodles. Love this place! The interior is sea themed and very cute! They have multiple TVs for sports fans. Parking is easy and is normally not crowded. The location is very convenient and close to downtown SJ. The service is fast but not rushed which I love! I've never had to wait more than 10 mins to start eating. My go-to order is Combo #1 mild/medium spicy with the House Special sauce. The employees are very friendly and accommodating and I appreciate that they never rushed me to eat even though I've arrived 30 mins to closing about two times already. P.s. Beware that they mean business when it comes to spice! Made the mistake of ordering extremely spicy once and it looked like I got lip injections after the first bites of my meal.
