This place is doing a great job being covid safe! The tables are so far apart and you must make a reservation to come in. While it's pricey, it's not surprising at it is a mountain restaurant. If you're in a bind while spending the day at Peak 8 or what is now known as Epic Discovery, then Ski Hill Grill is a quick way to fill those afternoon lunch bellies. Expect average to high prices, although this should not be a shock given it is located conveniently in the ski resort. TIP: Order either the pizza or chicken tenders + fries entree as a kids meal and get a free soda fountain or bottled drink AND Oreos or apple snack included. All this for $15 - as a kids meal. Other food options include your typical burger, hot dog, and some other less usual fare such as BBq Banh Mi Pork or Tofu sandwich. All were quite good in taste. Dining spaces are plentiful and clean. It is food court style. While I am not planning a future trip here, this is definitely a recommended stop for families with young children. read more

You must take the FREE gondola to enjoy? this hugely overpriced grill. Vail properties gouge's the hell out of you and there's really no reason to go here if your not skiing or boarding. The grill has a separate bar area and the rest is a cafeteria setup with expensive fried food and some grilled items, burgers etc. It's a madhouse typical of a ski mountain anywhere in this area but I have to admi,t that at least on this visit alone, it moved diners from food on trays to making your debit card cry to a table which you must share because it's super crowded!! The last few times we were here the outdoor BBQ was open along with a bar which is still part of the same outdoor area but with much better food...if you like BBQ and sitting outside, which almost no one does including myself but closed on this visit. Great views of the mountain and where they practice jumps and the kiddie ski school. Worth a visit for non skiers just for the views alone. Do Not go here when the mountain is opening or closing. There will be long waits for the gondola. An order of fries for the granddaughter was nearly $8. Probably doesn't make a difference when your spending nearly $180 for a lift ticket but that's another story. read more

Recently had a socially-distanced lunch indoors at the Ski Hill Grill at the base of Peak 8, Breckenridge. Reservations are a must and you have 45 minutes allotted for your table. Great to be able to warm up inside over lunch given that many of the indoor options are closed or very limited. Staff handles the crowd very well, masks are required at all times except while actively eating. People are limited inside the food court - it was not crowded and felt very clean and safe on the Saturday we skied. Yes, food selection is limited yet adequate and prices are exactly what you would / should expect on-mountain (high!) but taste and quality were surprisingly good. And did I mention how nice it is to sit indoors and enjoy a hot meal during COVID while skiing?!?! Our party enjoyed the cheeseburgers (great flavour burger and a wonderful brioche bun), chicken fingers and fries. Also a nice selection of sweet treats (chocolate bars, cookies) and drinks available. Easy to reserve your time / table on the morning you plan to dine as reservations open ~ 7am day of. Without a reservation, staff is metering in patrons as possible but the only option is takeaway. This skier is happy to once again have indoor dining during COVID! read more

Then to add insult to injury the money grubbing bar stewards that run vail resorts refreshments dept gouge you a months salary to eat or drink here. If I could give it negative stars I would. $15 for two drinks and a basket of fries, and you have to go get them yourself. I'm under no illusions about captive audiences, but really, this place makes eating on a French mountain affordable by comparison and Disney look like they've been taken over by WalMart! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, so the cook grabbed a cheeseburger that had been under the heat lamp too long, put some bacon on it and handed it back to me. $16.50 and fries not included. I feel sorry for the all the snow enthusiasts on Peak 8. After a morning of hard boarding, having to be relegated to such slop for lunch is travesty. Sadly, this is the only restaurant on the mountain base. It's either this or go hungry. Ski Hill Grill is a cafeteria style restaurant. It's broken up into different sections (Seafood, Asian, American, etc.) Being that I'm Catholic and observing Lent on Fridays... the only protein I can go for is seafood. The selection on seafood offerings is limited. You have your typical fish and chips, fried fish sandwiches and salmon sandwiches. On the asian side, they offer a thai curried shrimp noodle dish. My gf and I went with the thai curry and the salmon burger. Throw in a small side salad and a 20 oz gatorade and the bill came out to be over $35 bucks. Whoa... that's mountain robbery!!! I know resort establishments are expensive... but geez! My thai curry shrimp noodle was not in a soup form. That's what I get for assuming. Just some sauce over soba noodles with itty bitty shrimps. All around bad. I don't know what they were thinking when they created this dish. Thank goodness the portion was small, I hate to throw away food... could only stomach half of it. It was very spicy as well. The salmon was a bit better to eat, but meat was dried out. Wasn't bad, definitely not good either. This is the only place at the base of peak 8 to eat. It's always busy. There are racks outside for snow gears & fortunately it's heated inside. Day lockers are available for a fee & there's a lost & found. There's also an atm machine, drink stations & of course toilets. The tables are pretty rank - They should have people cleaning it considering the price of the food & drinks they charge.. The coffees are expensive - $5 each!! I guess you're paying for the convenience or paucity of restaurants. They were totally average. The food was really, really average. It's hard to go wrong with fried food. However for the price they charge, it's pretty lame. Again, they have the monopoly for the place. Unless you packed a lunch, this is the only convenient place to fuel up. The problem most people have is the price of the food/ drink ($6.50 for a gatorade) but you'll find that at every slope side cafe on the mountain. I would've like to see more variety in the food offered. Don't expect to be blown away with the quality or quantity of the dishes here. They do have large outdoor patio for those bluebird days. This place gets really crowded on Saturdays. It was insane when we breaked for lunch after our ski lessons. There was no where to sit indoors so we sat outside and shivered, I was just glad I didn't have to go far to get lunch, but I guess that's also the catch of this place and the explanation for high prices for food. I got an order of the tres tacos (steak, chicken and carnitas), it was pretty standard, nothing special for a whopping $16.25. A slice, let me repeat, a SLICE of Caesar pizza was $10.50. The pizza tasted similarly to the pizza at Costco, which was pretty good, but still $10.50 for a slice. A bottle of gatorade was $5.25. A word of advice to those that are on this Peak, pack your own lunch or be prepared to pay high prices. Wait time for food wasn't too bad, it's cafeteria-style and you just wait in mini lines according to the style of food you want to order. read more

BLT Salad sounded like it should be good, but it was a small romaine heart covered with a pound of bacon and a pound of parmesan cheese some cherry tomatoes and dressing, after I started eating it I realized why they put so much stuff to cover the lettuce, it was old and brown, and the cost was $14.00, ate very little of it and threw it in the trash.
