I had a solid experience at Skillets Diner and would rate it 3.5 stars overall. The highlight of my visit was definitely the service. Our waiter was handling everything on her own and did an impressive job staying attentive, efficient, and friendly despite how busy it was--she deserves major recognition for her hard work. The food was good and satisfying, and the drinks were well-prepared .The atmosphere was decent, though fairly standard and not particularly memorable. Overall, a good spot with strong service and enjoyable menu options. With a bit more attention to ambiance, it could easily be an even better dining experience.

I was visiting friends who live in Bakersfield and they suggested this place for breakfast. It's in a small plaza so there's plenty of parking. The interior is one huge room with a lack of decor. We came around 9am on a Sunday and only a handful of tables were taken but by 10 the crowds were coming through the doors, and soon there was a wait. Several of their breakfast dishes are served in a skillet so of course I had to order one of those. I chose the Chorizo Queso Skillet. Scrambled egg, chorizo, jack and cheddar cheese, diced tomato and onion were served over cubed potatoes. Sour cream and salsa were served on the side. It was a fantastic breakfast meal. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us after our dishes arrived. I got a cup of coffee with my breakfast - pretty good for a diner - and would have gotten a refill if offered, but that offer never came (not sure if refills are given at no charge or not).

I had very high hopes for this place but honestly both the service and food fell short. The restaurant wasn't busy during our time there, but somehow the service was considerably slow. Our food took a long time to come out and we had pretty much finished all our drinks by the time it came out. Then our server was hardly checking on us. We had to flag down a different server to grab us our check, to go boxes, etc. In regard to the food, it was alright but everything was very basic. Nothing special or flavorful. The restaurant itself looked like a typical diner and seemed clean.

Good breakfast place with lots of options to choose from. Service is always good every time I have come here. I have never had to wait for an open table. The only complaint I have here is their To-go orders are always smaller than when ordering to dine in.

    Mimosa flight 2

I will be leaving pictures of the food and I do want to add I came on Father's Day. I ordered their mimosa flight which took 15mins to get. They were semi watered down (I want to add I do like stronger drinks so it could've just been my preference) and they did NOT look like the flights posted on their IG. The first flight I ordered didn't have the garnishes like the second round. The food was mid but the music they had on was a vibe. So overall for a first impression I'd rate this place 3/5.

New to the area & finally tried this spot today. I ordered the southern skillet & my boyfriend ordered chocolate chip pancakes, we both really enjoyed our meal, the gravy was so good, the chicken fried steak was crispy & everything was seasoned well, I appreciate it not being too salty with everything that was in it. Our waitress was great & bonus points for them playing good music. We'll definitely be back for breakfast again & to try their lunch! forgot to mention the prices were great

I hadn't been back here since the first few weeks they'd opened so I took my kids one morning on a whim. It is a pretty big restaurant with lots of seating for big parties. They have a nice menu with lots of options but nothing too fancy. I decided to try the veggie omelet with country potatoes. The omelet was stuffed full of veggies and was good. The country potatoes were just ok. My daughter got a chorizo burrito and said it was good and my other daughter went with the French toast and said it was delicious. The prices were decent so if you're looking for a nice breakfast spot, this is your place!

California Omelette & Chili con Carne

The omelette did not have too much flavour. The chilli con carne was very cold & tastes like it came from a can. The potatoes I can't complain about, very good The service was very friendly. And parking was amazing

I went twice to this location two days in a row because I enjoyed it so much. First with a friend and then I had to introduce it to my kids. The coffees and teas are delish and unique, as well as the smoothies and juices (I didn't try those but my kids loved them). We tried a variety of baked goods, the honeycomb bread is sooooo dang good! Filled with little pockets of cream cheese, drizzled with honey, and topped with toasted regular and black sesame seeds (I forgot to take a pic of this one, but I'll add it next time I go). We enjoyed all of the pastries we tried- not a crumb on our plates by the time we were finished! The decor is beautiful and unique. All of the employees super nice and helpful. You can ask them for descriptions or ask for a menu to see details and ingredients. They're open late too, so I think my next visit will be a GNO or a date with my hubby.

There was a good amount of indoor seating, and I could see this cafe being a fine spot to linger in for a while.

As I was walking I saw the sign for this place and was happy I did because my other coffee options were a fast food restaurant or the famous coffee chain. It was a bit confusing to locate. It was tucked away in the back of a commercial office space type building. Once inside the place was very clean and organized. Very minimalist design. I was only one of 4 total people inside. My order was taken quickly. I ordered an iced americano with a ham and cheese turnover. Coffee was on point. No notes. No complaints. The pastry however was not good. They asked me if I wanted it heated up. I said I did. I saw her put it in the microwave, and I assumed they turned it on. When I bit into it (I had already left and walked across the street) it was cold. Like cold cold. On top of that it was flavorless which made it worse. Stick to the coffee or make sure you check the temp of the food prior to leaving.

If im clueless let me in on the Vietnamese coffe you know of...anyhoo If you're looking for a caffeine kick, the cold canned Vietnamese coffee will give you a jolt you wouldn't believe. Food-wise, the Peruvian grilled cheese sandwich was flavorful and well made, but I'd recommend asking for the sauce on the side unless you enjoy a messy sandwich. The ham and cheese croffel had great flavor, but it was a little light on the ham and cheese. I think the cropples are better suited in the sweet variety as they seem small incompressants to a ham and cheese croissant someone would purchase for about half that price. In my opinion, it was more of a kid's snack than a meal and not quite worth the price, if you're actually hungry I would go with something else off the menu. Everything was made fresh , you must be patient here , perfection can be slower than your metabolism, so dont go there hangry. During my visit, Hector explained that he envisions Uncharted Adventures as a gathering place for the community. The business frequently hosts weekend vendor markets and local running clubs. Hector also shared he was creating a dedicated Memorial Day wall honoring local veterans, first responders, and teachers, while also working on an outdoor eating area. It's always great to see a Hector and Chris, and the new Adventures they take on. This is one of the few coffee shops in Bako worth checking out, whether you're stopping in for a coffee, a bite to eat, or a community events theyre hosting give em a visit an introduce yourself. You can thank me later. .Overall I would give everything a four and a half Stars but since Yelp doesn't do half Stars I'll give them a five out of five stars. As they deserve a free half star for all of the Uncharted Adventures that they are a part of...lol get it.. nevermind.. bye for now...

The space is actually one of their biggest strengths there's a lot of seating, plenty of room to bring your laptop and work remotely, and areas where people can gather. It's also connected to a church, so it definitely leans into that community-centered atmosphere. Unfortunately, after going back 3-4 times hoping my experience would improve, the coffee has been consistently disappointing. It tastes burnt and weak at the same time like warm water with sugar. There barely seems to be any real espresso in the drinks. On more than one occasion, I've taken several sips hoping it would get better... and ended up throwing the whole drink away because it was just that bad. That's honestly frustrating, especially when you're paying for specialty coffee. The only drink I've actually enjoyed there is the pumpkin spice latte, that one was solid.

Their hype was definitely due to the 'aesthetic'. Nothing is really outstanding to me. The drinks are such a let down, the coffee is borderline yuck.. do not recommend. The food is heavily missing flavor, the hummus is disgusting. I can't believe they call that thing hummus, it's an insult to actual dish.. it's almost like it was trying to imitate the real dish, but failed terribly in even attempting to. Their pizza tasted like play-doh and looked very pale. Smitten is at least consistent with one thing, which is their staple: no flavor. One of the breaking points for me was being served food that had someone's HAIR. The restaurant is very expensive for the poor experience they have to offer. I stopped recommending them a long time ago.
