Something old-world maybe? Like a flavor that's existed for centuries and been passed down through time and so so many generations... and it's now landed in our corner of the world that's just a few blocks away? Globalization and the world within, for f' sakes! This place is truly brilliant. More recently, I'm only in town a few days out of the week, but I make a point to visit this location or their other location, Mokhamena on Panama, each day I'm here to, at a minimum, pick up two for myself--the first one is to function and the second is to savor. There was a time I'd pick up the party-size for my coworkers when I liked them... but alas, times have changed so more for me. The staff there are always friendly and awesome, and on days that I'm lucky enough, I get to actually enjoy the cafe. So grateful you guys are here and sharing flavors from across the world.

My order was taken quickly. I ordered an iced americano with a ham and cheese turnover. Coffee was on point. No notes. No complaints. The pastry however was not good. They asked me if I wanted it heated up. I said I did. I saw her put it in the microwave, and I assumed they turned it on. When I bit into it (I had already left and walked across the street) it was cold. Like cold cold. On top of that it was flavorless which made it worse. Stick to the coffee or make sure you check the temp of the food prior to leaving.

The matcha was way too sweet and the strawberry foam was pretty watery. I would not order this again. And unfortunately I had to toss it after a couple of sips bc of the sweetness. If overly sweet matcha with watery cold foam is your thing, then you will love it. Would have been nice if I had been asked about my preferred level of sweetness. The gal who helped me was not friendly and conversation was forced when I asked menu questions. So disappointed bc I literally went out of my way just for this place. With every purchase you are giving a youth a chance at a new future. How cool is that! Coffee for a good cause. I loved the space and the coffee and took home a bag of beans from Brazil. He had a tattoo near the corner of his eye and was wearing a jersey. It really disturbed me about how he seemed to be harassing the baristas. He told one of them "your tummy is sticking out again," when she said "it's because I just ate," he said "no it's always sticking out." He them proceeded to complain to them about another employee who "decided to get knocked up right when things were getting busy," and said some other things about maternity leave. The most apalling thing was he then asked the barista "if you're pregnant and found out your son was gonna be retarded, would you do the un-Catholic thing?" She tried to brush him off by saying "it would be too late," to which he made a joke about using a "coat hanger." Truly the most apalling thing I've ever witnessed at any establishment. I never leave reviews at all, but I had to report this because it seems like this guy involved with management is bullying and harassing the employees. And this non-profit works with foster youth?!
