My opinion: Over a year ago, I was given a facial treatment, as a gift from my mom. I had near perfect skin always, but went anyway because it was a gift. After an excruciatingly painful treatment, I had a very severe reaction and breakout. After many visits to multiple dermatologists, countless antibiotics, many painful laser treatments, and Accutane (which caused a major heart condition), I am still dealing with the scars from this Spa's treatment. These scars are exactly where the esthetician poked at, which is illegal to do in California by the way. In California you are not allowed to break skin. Under Laws and Regulations of Barbering and Cosmetology, article 12, section 991, They did break skin. The Spa owner, who is a Doctor but not a dermatologist wants to say he helped, but he hasn't spent one dime or reached out to help at all. He only worked to cover his own skin. All his staff did was work to take down poor Yelp reviews. My family has spent many thousands to try and reverse the work of this spa, and I have endured tremendous pain and suffering in my own life. It has affected me physically and mentally. Shame on Dr Schwartz and shame on this spa. Enjoy the pictures below and you can see my before and after pictures. As a former customer of Laseraway, I was surprised at the different experience! All of my previous laser hair removals were very painless. I think this was because they used too low of a setting. A year later, most of the hair on my chin came back. Laser Med Spa seems to be using the correct setting since it was a little more uncomfortable (not painful at all) and seems to be much more effective at eliminating the hair. I touched up my chin and did my bikini line. After one treatment most hair is gone! Prices are more reasonable and they don't spam the heck out of my inbox. Highly recommend. I am very sorry to have to type this review. However, I feel it necessary as the first person you talk to is very important with most any business. First off, I have been a client of Skin Deep for a couple of years or so. I moved from Downey to Pasadena. Dr Heather Amitrone was my doctor from Downey and she also provided services in Pasadena at this location, so I followed her. Heather was amazing. I hated to find she was no longer at Skin Deep. However, I continued on at Skin Deep as it is close to my new home. They then referred me to Barbara. She has been great. Saw her twice in the last 9 months or so and once during Covid. I called today, 10/1 to make an appt with Barbara. The process was more difficult than normal. First off, I never asked the receptionist name in the past as she was never really friendly. Just matter of fact and dry. Today when I called, it was not the same 'dry' gal, it was a very nice young lady (sounding). She was very helpful, but put me on hold twice during the call. Once I finally made the appointment, she asked me to hold again. I thought why? I am done here. In fact while I held, I got my text confirmation. This is the part of the experience that I will no longer use this facilities services. Instead of the fresh voice I talked to who made the appt, it was the same gal from the past who was never friendly. Today I find her name was "Ricky". I recognized her voice right away. The reason she got on the phone after my confirmed appt was to ask me for a credit card to hold my appointment. She went on to say there is a 48 hr cancellation policy, however if I did not make it I would be charged. Just the way she presented it made me uncomfortable. There is certainly a way it could have been said to ease the discomfort. I expressed my feelings that I have always kept my appts and would rather not give my CC. Instead of coming down off her high horse, she went on in saying this is common now in the industry...I said I will need to cancel my appt then I guess. She went on to say, good luck finding another place, in a tone that was not acceptable to me. I suggested they reconsider that policy, and she she no they don't need to. Bottom line, she really needs to work on her customer service skills! Coming in for botox has always been an uncomfortable appt for me. A little embarrassing is how I always felt. You would think the front desk receptionist would WANT to make you feel comfortable. Not this gal. Ricky, if you read this, please take this as constructive criticism. Work on those skills young lady! Botox is available everywhere. I can find another doctor down the street, and will. And I am pretty sure they will be fine and probably more pleasant. To Dr. Michael Schwartz, A pretty face is nice to have up front, but personality too matters. I hope you can too use this to help your business going forward. I have been coming here for facials for several years now, and have never had such a horrible experience as I did on Friday July 23rd. My appointment was for 4:00pm, yet had to wait 10 min to be taken back. This was fine at the time, I have had to wait before and know that they always just go over the scheduled end time. The second my facial started I was immediately uncomfortable. My facialist was moving around so quickly that she was bumping into the bed causing it to shake. Additionally, she was practically slapping product onto my face, so sloppily that it actually got into my nose and into my mouth. When going to take off the product, she put a scorching hot towel over my ENTIRE face, covering my nose causing me to have a hard time breathing. When it was finally over, I checked my phone and it had ended at 4:50pm! She was rushing so much that she ended my facial 20 min early. When I finally got someone on the phone to talk about my experience (which took 5 days after being told a manager would call me on Monday, but did not until Wednesday), the best they could offer was 20% off my next facial. I should be OWED 20% from how short my first facial was! To top it off, I am moving out of California in a week so I couldnt even take advantage of the measly 20% off. After asking if I could get a discount on products because of this, I was essentially told no and "too bad". The horrible experience was topped off by really poor customer service. read more

A month ago I was not able to schedule with Marion because of conflicting schedules so I scheduled my appt with Crystal, a new provider. She is equally amazing! My family and I have been loyal customers for over 5 years and sadden that the front desk receptionist working today was very unprofessional and spoke to me poorly. I called the office and nobody answered so I left a message that I would be 15 min late. Yes, I was late but this was my first time to be late to my appt due to 110 ramp closure on a Saturday afternoon and she just told me rudely that, " any appt 15 min late will have to reschedule". I explained my situation and also I drove 1 hr away to get there but she was not willing to help me. What an experience so far. I booked a custom facial here and a quick consultation for laser hair removal. Carrie was my esthetician for my facial and I walked outta there floating on air. She was very gentle with my skin and the products they used didn't irritate me which is surprising because I have very sensitive skin that turns blotchy for everything. My sister recommended this place after getting botox and fillers here. I made an appointment with Barbara for botox in June 2019 and we ended up doing my forehead, lines around my eyes, and jawline. It went well and she was very nice so I decided to make another appointment to come back for fillers. I returned in July 2019 to get my tear trough and marionette lines filled. Here's where the problems started. After the procedure I had a pretty significant black eye and my marionette lines looked exactly the same. I spoke to a manager a few weeks later and was told that Tammy would redo the filler for the marionette as they agreed there was not much difference. Tammy did the work and I was happy with it. However months passed and I still had severe discoloration under both my eyes (one worse than the other). I went in to see the doctor at Skin Deep and he advised that I may have blood that pooled under the skin and caused some staining. He recommended me do some sessions of red light therapy which I would have to come in for a few times a week. Being a full time teacher and mother of three this was very inconvenient but I did it. After 6 sessions and still no difference he recommended IPL, which we did but again no difference. By this time I had been living with what looked like a bruised under eye for about 6 months. I went in because I was insecure with my under eye area and ended up spending $2,000 dollars to look worse. Not to mention a small fortune trying many different color correctors and concealers. Finally, a couple weeks ago a friend mentioned he had a friend who was a plastic surgeon that I should go see. He took one look at me and said that I had what is known as the Tyndall Effect under my eye. Basically the filler had been placed too superficially under the skin and the blue pigment from the filler was showing through. He dissolved the filler in the area with the discoloration on both sides and within minutes my eyes were back to normal! Why couldn't Skin Deep recognize the issue and treat it correctly in the first place? I wasted so much time, money and spent almost a year being embarrassed about my eye after spending so much money. I'm a teacher, it was a big expense for me, and for nothing but aggravation. The doctor did reach out to me on here and told me to come back in, but I'm sorry they had months to fix the issue and just wasted my time. I won't be coming back. read more

Over the past couple of years, key people left and I ended up getting services from a person who injured me severely, leaving terrible permanent burn scars from a treatment. The lady reassured me that not only were they available but that there was a newer, stronger version of the product I have been using (and loved) for years. I asked if she would put the creme and the new version of the level 4 behind the desk because I was coming into Pasadena the next day and would pick them up at that time. She took my name and said that she would leave the product as per my request. After driving over one hour in heavy traffic, the receptionist couldn't find a package among the 4-5 that were behind the desk. She couldn't find the newer version of the level 4 I wanted either. This review is for their tattoo removal services (PicoSure). I have been coming here to get my tattoo removed for about a year now, and have had 7 treatments done so far, and it's fading very nicely! Still a ways to go, but I am happy with the results. My tattoo was very dark to start out with (blacks, purples, yellows and greens) and now all that's left is the black, and the yellow and green (which will be fading a lot more now that they have the new laser to target brighter colors). I am extremely happy with the staff here. TEN stars to Nicole. She is fantastic! She is extremely gentle and cares about the comfortability of her patients. Every time I come in I can look forward to having conversations with her about other stuff besides the treatment to get my mind off the pain... But guess what.. Things I Liked: The location is nice and easy to access. The staff is incredibly nice and accommodating. The actual place is very classy and clean, and gives an upscale vibe. Thing I Disliked: Their laser hair removal process is very messy and time consuming. Their equipment is not advanced-- why must you apply a cooling gel before EVERY single area is lasered, followed immediately by an ice pack, when other LESS EXPENSIVE (much less expensive) locations offer a machine that bursts a poof of air after each area is zapped. Oh, and my results were much better at the more affordable place i found. And they even offered to shave the area to be lasered for me, so that they know exactly where to target, whereas Medspa forces you to do it before you come in. To me, it would've been worth paying the $1500 I spent if my results were amazing and the procedure was faster, easier, and cleaner. read more

Lindsay was my amazing esthetician and she really made me feel comfortable and taken care of. I purchased the chemical peel package and she adjusted the strength of the peel according to my skin. My skin looked great after every visit. The redness only lasts a couple of hours after and the peeling takes about 3 or 4 days so if you're going to get a chemical peel, I suggest doing it over a weekend you don't plan on really going out. While I was getting my chemical peel, there was soothing music in the background, which helped me relax and de-stress from life. I recommend Skin Deep and Lindsay is the best. read more

So I found this place by doing a google search for "Pasadena Med Spas" and attending a open house that was advertised online. I'm mid-thirties now and thought it was high time I paid a bit of attention to my oft-neglected skin. Throwing a dart at the computer may not be the most principled method, to be sure, but boy did I luck out! I liked them so much at the open house I opted to do the Total FX laser (a pretty hard core takes-a-week-to-recover-while-your-face-peels off) treatment there. RN Natalie, who performed the procedure, was incredible and the results are fantastic. She guided me through the frankly not very fun aftercare process deftly and compassionately. I now trust Skin Deep completely with all of my skincare needs and have actually committed to a routine and everything - proper washing and cleansing, maintenance, facials every six weeks or so. I feel so grown up. Seriously people - it just doesn't make sense to neglect your FACE. Nobody's going to notice your cute shoes or bag if you're unnecessarily wrinkly or dull. No, really. Other standouts as far as personnel go are: Shawna, the office manager and Lindsay, my fabulous esthetician. Super supportive, competent and all around good people. The offices are discrete, beautiful and I've referred several happy friends (including my brother). I love that I truly believe they've got my best interest at heart. Never, not once have I felt they were trying to push me toward any product/procedure that didn't make sense for my own individual needs. They look at your budget and help you make it work. Love them. This review is for eyebrow tattoo removal. I foolishly got permanent "tattoo" eyebrows many years ago and finally found an amazing nurse and the picoway laser technology to get it removed! The tattoo was removed 95% from just one treatment. The results vary from person to person and that is why you must first come in and do a test spot on the eyebrow which will allow the nurse to see whether the pigment used in the tattoo is amenable to treatment (like whether iron was used in the pigment or how far into the dermis the ink was injected). Some pigments will not take- but I got lucky and that tattoo just lifted as if nothing was there. The healing process takes 2 weeks and you will get some redness- but the results are truly phenomenal! I would recommend anyone seeking permanent makeup removal to go to this clinic as the nurses are very knowledgeable (ive had other clinics tell me ridiculous things that the laser will burn my hair off and I wont grow hair for months)! You absolutely must do your research and do not go get this tattoo removed from some clinic based on price- this is your face!!!! My nurse was Nicole and she was phenomenal! Such an easy hand and professional and caring demeanor! She will tell you everything you need to know and is an expert in her field. I came to Skin Deep Laser in search of tools, treatments and information for correcting facial sun spots. Aside from my concern with sun spots, I also am interested in starting a "preventative" skin care regiment program that will keep my skin looking healthy and youthful. My first visit with Skin Deep was for their "Open House Mixer", which I believe they only offer once or twice a year. To find out about the mixers, join their email list at skindeeplaser.com. Attending this event was a huge benefit. Upon RSVP for this event, I was issued free raffle tickets to place in various gift baskets for a chance at winning treatments/products of my interest and a $25 gift certificate towards any treatment. At the actual event, there were complimentary hors d'oeuvres, wine, viewing of various treatments and a full staff to answer unlimited questions for any treatments/products of interest. This very night, I purchased a facial package to address the sun spots on my face. Since the Open House Mixer, I have been to Skin Deep two times, first for a Vitamin Facial and second for a Sensi Peel, which works to exfoliate and even the skin tone. Upon my esthetician's recommendation (Michelle), I purchased a couple of serums to work in conjunction with my future facials. I have noticed a big difference in the quality and tone of my face and the sun spots are almost unnoticeable. I plan to continue seeing Michelle even after all of my sun spot issues are resolved. Prior to Skin Deep, I went to Burke Williams for all of my facials, but now that I have access to an Esthetician who will create custom facials/program based on my skin and needs, as well as guide me and provide me with expert advice, it's a no brainer for me to stay with Skin Deep from here on out. The prices are comparable to if not less expensive than Burke Williams and the products/services provided at Skin Deep are medical grade. Aside from the amazing results I have achieved from just two visits, I am very impressed with the staff's level of courtesy and professionalism. I received a birthday gift from my Brother & sister-in-law this year of a Skin Deep Custom Facial. I had never gotten a facial before and did not know what to expect. As i walked into the serene environment i was greeted by a very nice front desk receptionist. I was offered something to drink while i filled out some paper work. After i was greeted by Kathleen who was going to be the one doing my facial. She was very nice and warm. We went into the room which was dimmed and had a calming scent and the music playing in the background made the experience so tranquil. I am 4.5 months pregnant and this was exactly what i needed a spa day to just relax. Kathleen walked me through the entire experience telling me what she was doing along the way. After she completed the facial, my skin felt amazing! it feels like i had a brand new face. My skin glowed and I'm so used to always having makeup on but after the facial i felt no need to put any on. I can't live without Skin Deep Laser Med Spa and refuse to leave Pasadena because of the service here. First, the ladies who work here are beautiful professionals who treat you like royalty. The location is perfect and accommodate late night appointments. Facilities are beautiful and really make you feel relaxed the minute you step in from the music and aromatherapy. All of the nurses, estheticians, doctors and receptionists all communicate with each other to meet client needs. The estheticians, especially Lindsay and Michelle are extremely talented in their work. The only other time I've had such great facials were at Four Seasons Spa for $250+ a pop. I've had pigmentation and oily/acne issues. I started with their chemical peels later combined dermabration and peels on the same session; my goal was to get rid of the dark spots. Now, as a male (40), I found the treatments a bit intimidating at first, but Lindsay from the original consultation has been very influential with her knowledge and clear explanations on which treatments to apply and how to care for my skin. I first purchased the package of 5 treatments, immediately loved the results, bought a second package, later decided to get the Melanage treatment, my skin looks fresh and my pigmentation is about 99% gone (it was pretty bad)... I intend to continue with the facial package of 5 treatments (mainly for peels and dermabration). These treatments have helped manage my oily skin and acne issues to which I am grateful. The staff is professional, friendly and accommodating; from Shawna to the super-star esthetician Lindsay who always explains the procedures in detail as she carefully applies the treatment, looking out for my best interest. She has NEVER pushed/asked me to buy their products, but she has provided some valuable sample items to try out ;-), I immediately got hooked into their Re-Balance face cream and Acne Pads. I would strongly recommend a consultation at a minimum, they take a picture and show you all of the flaws :-(, its amazing, then decide on your treatment. Ask for Shawna, she will take care of you.
