I was actually quite impressed dining here. We came here for a family dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday. We ordered calamari and garlic bread as appetizers which both were really delicious. The really enjoyed the crispiness of the calamari and the garlicky cheese on the bread. I ordered the flank steak risotto with a medium cook on the steak. I absolutely loved it. The seasoning on the steak was really flavorful and I really liked that they added asparagus to the risotto. The risotto was also cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the chicken parmigiana and that was also delicious. The chicken was still juicy and the penne pasta was a good balance to it. Service was great. Our waitress did an excellent job attending us. I really liked the open kitchen concept. I used to live in Concord, CA so we would always go to the Skipolini's there, but this restaurant is great.

Second visit warrants a review. Was last in around a year ago for dinner on a Friday night for a large party. The staff was really friendly and attentive, and everything was family-casual yum. This time it was a trio during early dinner hours, and the service was even quicker, with staff bringing items and checking on the party regularly. Food and beverages were solid (pizza, pasta, and the meatball sandwich + red sangria) and the happy hour deals are generous. Nice spot for a family outing or casual bite.

Skipolini's I don't believe was ever defined as "Italian fine dining", as a matter of fact they identify themselves as "high quality food in a unique, family friendly environment, at affordable prices."I believe they do a phenomenal job at being just that! Their Chicken Piccata, Chicken Marsala, Seafood Risotto and even their Calzone's are absolutely delicious! From our groups opinion of the meal, the Piccata was sautéed in their sauce wonderfully, the Marsala sautéed with mushroom in their wine sauce was enjoyable, delicious--as was the Seafood Risotto. 7 out of 10. That evening I had a Calzone to oversimplify having a "little bit of everything" in terms of carbs, proteins and veggies. The sun-dried tomatoes in that Martinelli were delicious. 7 out of 10. I like the crust on my calzone cooked a bit more well done and buttery. You can't go wrong with any choice of cheesecake or tiramisu, I only wish the crème brûlée was a bit warmer when it was served. I believe what stood out the most was the fast and friendly service of our waitress. The light hearted moments made it overall a tremendous experience. Go check it out for yourself and if you stop in, make sure you other their bacon wrapped jalapeños. Don't be scary. They're delicious and less than moderately hot on the spice scale but of course peppers vary.

After my Physical Therapy appointment, I wanted to take my friend who drove me to my appointment to a nice lunch. Now, I have to think about where is a good place that is ADA complaint with easy access. My friend suggested Skipolini's and I said "I've never been there" and I love trying a new restaurant that I haven't been to before. We were greeted by the staff to open the door for us, which was super nice and we were seated at a table where they removed chairs to place me. After that we looked at the menu and ordered an appetizer and they had a lovely lunch menu. My friend ordered the Italian Panini, but she ended up getting a different Panini, but she said "it was still good" and I tried the Chicken Parmesan, which was absolutely huge with Penny pasta. We ordered the fried ravioli as the appetizer and it was nice that they gave us four pieces each and it was an even number. I love that. Also the decor of the restaurant was lovely. When you first walk in they have a gelato truck that looks like a bicycle pulling it and it's super cute. I didn't try the gelato though, I'll save that for next time. I did find it very dark in the restaurant and hard to read the menu. I think the lunch special was good value otherwise, I think it could be a lot more expensive if you go at dinner time. I look forward to coming back again with my husband.

12/25/26 So we came on a Wednesday night was not too crowded. Wifey was wanting Italian so we came here. It had been a while since we have come. Didn't Disappoint.. We were greeted immediately and sat very quickly. Mariah was our waitress and she was excellent and very attentive and checked on us frequently. We ordered some drinks & appetizers I had the skipolini's old fashioned which is made with Old Forester , it was excellent and Bacon wrapped Jalapeños , they were delicious. Also ordered the Caprese salad, which was very fresh and delicious. Just the right amount. For my main course I had Cajun pasta and it was delicious perfect amount of sauce and it's the right amount of spice. For dessert had the crème brûlée gelato and got it to go. My only drawback on anything was that the gelato did not really taste like crème brûlée at all but it was still good. Ambiance is very chill with low lighting and cool decor . Wife and Son also enjoyed their food as well. Was a nice evening out. Enjoy !!!!

The non-profit organization that I am involved with had an appreciation dinner for our volunteers at Skipolini's. This is the third year in a row that we've held the event in their private room by the patio. It was another successful gathering with great food and fantastic and exemplary service. Todd the manager, is extremely helpful throughout the entire process of the catering this event...he helped with with the details planning the menu, the setting up of the private dining room and then provided the most caring and thoughtful management on the night of the event. The guests and planning committee were all pleased with the dinner, the comfortable ambiance and beauty of the room, as well as the attentive and friendly service from Faith, our designated server for the evening. As part of the planning committee for this year event and past events, we'll return again. Many thanks Todd and to your staff for facilitating a wonderful appreciation night for our well-deserving volunteers.

My friend and I chose to have a girls night and have dinner at Skipolini's. The atmosphere is a little dark but it's comfortable. Our server was very nice and attentive and gave us his recommendations when we asked. We shared an appetizer of calamari. I don't care for thick pieces that are chewy. The flavor was great but my preference was not what we had. My friend loved it. I also got the chicken Parmesan and it was very very good. I also loved that it came on a bed of penne. I do wish that they offered bread but again that's just a preference. I want to go back and try the pizza..

Came here the other night with some friends. It was kind of slow when we first arrived, but we were there early. Our server was very friendly and checked on us a lot. We got our drinks right away and then she came back to take our order once we were ready. The restaurant itself is nice and open with lots of seating. The chicken piccata was overcooked and my friend didn't finish her plate. The clam chowder was extra hot which was great. The Vettie's pizza (gluten free and lactose free cheese) sounded and looked good from the description, but the cheese wasn't really melted and the toppings kept falling off. It wasn't my favorite place. I may give it another chance in the future.

We arrived at about 1pm for with about 20 members of the Reno Mustang Car Club after the VC and RENO Veterans Day Parades. We had the private room in the back of the restaurant. The food was so good, my dad ordered a cup of Clam Chowder and Italian Panini, I ordered the Bacon Wrapped Jalapeños and Cajun Pasta, and my SIL ordered Buffalo Wings and Cajun pasta as well. We shared the jalapeños and wings, and by the time our entree's arrived we were pretty full. Our server was amazing making sure everyone had drinks and water topped off and plenty of napkins to go around. It was a very pleasant experience with a group that large.

We stopped by Skipolini's and were pleasantly surprised the prices are very affordable for the quality you get. The food overall was really good, and the service was solid. The pizza was enjoyed by the kiddos and the slice I had would definitely be worth ordering again. The only miss for me was the meatball sandwich, that's was a swing and miss so I'd probably skip that next time. Still, would be back for another visit!

Not a big fan of Italian food personally, so there is definitely some bias going into this review. The pasta was delicious and the service was friendly, but it just wasn't anything outstanding. A good spot to get satisfy an Italian craving, but probably nothing more. Cool ambiance.

She made great recommendations, let us taste the wine to ensure it was a good fit for us, and made sure we were taken care of. The pizza is an Italian style with thin crust that is less cooked than a typical American thin-crust pizza. All the ingredients were fresh and the menu was obviously crafted with care. We tried the Cherry Picker and the Espana which were both unique combinations that were well balanced and flavorful. To drink we tried the Lambrusco, a fruity but not sweet sparkling red wine, and the Hugo spritz which was very well executed. For dessert we had the Cioccolato Budino which was a dense, creamy and rich mousse covered in caramel chocolate cookie crumbs and homemade whipped cream. My only complaint is that I shared instead of getting my own.

I opted for the following food items: * Bowl of Minestrone Soup ($7.50): a hearty vegetable soup with a tomato-based broth. Served with house-made bread. * Vegetable Lasagna ($17.50): Prepared with layers of pasta sheets, béchamel, ricotta, spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, marinara sauce, parmesan, and mozzarella. Served with house-made bread. First and foremost, I experienced satisfaction with every bite of the food. The soup was so warm and comforting with the fresh vegetables. The bread was a nice complement to soak up the tomato broth. The Lasagna was absolutely delicious. The portion of the slice was generously huge, and the taste was on point, especially with the personal request of extra marinara sauce (I always love extra sauce on pastas in general). The hospitality from all staff members was so amiable and attentive. They ensured that I had everything I needed during the dining experience. For both my soup and pasta, I was given the topping of freshly grated Parmesan cheese. The interior of the restaurant was small, yet cozy, with a welcoming feel for families. The Italian-themed decor was a beautiful touch to the restaurant. The inside of the restroom was clean. Lastly, the lunch menu offered affordable prices. Overall, La Cucina Italian Eatery exceeded expectations in my book! From the filling portions of food to the spectacularly kind service, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. I'll be returning whenever I am in the Reno, NV area again.

We arrived at 5 pm as soon as they opened, and three people were there waiting outside..they headed to the bar, we headed inside the restaurant. They gave us a nice table of two in the back and the music was amazing with a serious old school feel...I think finding a restaurant that still embraces the past is getting harder to find these days. Our waitress brought some fresh bread to the table as we ordered two beers from the menu. I noticed that this Yelp does not have wine listings anywhere, so I snapped some photos for wine lovers to get an idea on selection and price point. I admit that I looked at the actual menu and already knew what I wanted before I stepped foot in the restaurant....ricotta filled ravioli in a butter sage sauce....yes please! Hub thought he was going to get the fettuccini, but at the last moment went for the spaghetti bolognese. Both our dishes arrived and they looked amazing...Hub was taken by surprise that two meatballs were on his dish...I guess we didn't read the details, but the sauce was still heartily filled with meat...and he ended up eating the meatballs anyway. Situated on 4th, just off of McCarran, Johnny's is easily accessible from the West side of town. There was plenty of parking, which was nice. The restaurant has a old school vibe to it. Rich dark woods and a broody air to it. Legit. On the recommendation of our server, we started with the Garlic Bread. OMG. Was this delicious. A must order in my book. We also had the Polenta Pomodoro e Carciofo. Delicious Polenta, formed in a loaf then topped with grilled artichoke, tomatoes, mozzarella and topped with a white truffle oil. The Polenta wasn't for everyone but I personally throught it was delicious. The mozzarella gave the Polenta a rich savoriness that I enjoyed. The Artichoke brought a nice finishing taste to the dish. My wife ordered the Petrale Sole. A Grana Padano crusted fillet of Petrale Sole served with lemon-cream sauce, accompanied with angel hair pasta with fresh tomatoes & basil. I sampled the Sole, it was light, flavorful and delicious, with a nice snap of the outer crust. Nice. One friend ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo. You know you're in an authentic Italian restaurant when the pasta is homemade. Served with housemade fettuccine with generous serving of butter, cream, & Grana Padano Cheese. Then topped with hand grated Mozzarella. This dish sounded and looked amazing but if I'm being honest I would have preferred a more creamy finish to the Alfredo. The dish (sauce) just seemed very heavy. Another friend had the Spaghetti Bolognese. For an Italian restaurant to be good, you have to do the basics to perfection, in my humble opinion and Johnny's did not disappoint. While I did not personally try the spaghetti with meat sauce. The couple sharing the dish seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. Of course, the Spaghetti is homemade. Another dish was the Pollo al Raggio. A breaded boneless chicken breast with lemon, capers, mushrooms then topped with a white wine sauce and served with penne marinara. Johnny's does just a great job with breaded dishes. A nice crispiness on the initial bite but the meat is still delicate and juicy. Now I appreciate that I was at an Italian Restaurant but what can I say, I wanted a steak. The Steak is a 12 oz Certified Angus Beef N.Y Steak aged for 28 days, then marinated in olive oil & herbs and served with a creamy polenta. I gotta say, this was one good steak. Cooked to perfection, it was perfect. Chef's Kiss. It was nice to finish my meal with the same delicious Polenta that we started the evening with. Celebrating a birthday on this evening, a generous portion of desserts were ordered. Starting with the Tiramisu. I gotta say this was a really good Tiramisu. Sometimes bakers can get carried away with the Chocolate. My compliments to the Chef, this was the perfect blend of Lady Fingers, espresso and brandy and then finished with delicate dusting of chocolate and a proper dollop mascarpone. Next was the Pecan Ball. We had such high hopes for this dessert. Vanilla ice cream rolled in pecans and covered with hot fudge. In the end, this was nothing to write home about and way too expensive for what you got. This will be a hard pass for our next visit. The birthday girl ordered an Affogato. Which is Vanilla ice cream with a shot of hot espresso. If you enjoy that espresso flavor, this is the dessert for you. I don't like talking badly about the wait staff because they are the amongst the hardest working people. That said, for an elegant restaurant with the history of Johnny's, I was expecting more. Our waitress, while always polite just seemed a bit annoyed that she had to take care of us, like she was doing us a favor. We told her that we were celebrating a special birthday, asking if the birthday girl would get a complementary dessert. "We don't do complimentary desserts here". Okay fair enough. Often its not what you say but how you say it. Johnny's you can do better. Reflecting on the evening, everything was quite good. For a restaurant of Johnny's stature amongst the locals, I gotta say I was expecting more. Don't get me wrong, the food and desserts were all quite good, but I just wanted a bit more.

We ordered a glass of the house chianti and it was amazing! I had the mushroom ravioli's and a house salad for an extra $3 which was well worth it! My favorite part is the homemade bread!! Absolutely delicious and Rebecca brought us more straight out of the oven. I love hot bubbly bread!!! The service is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect especially after traveling all day with delays! The prices are good and plenty of parking! Next time you're thinking Italian think Zozo's, you'll be glad you did.

Quality/Quantity - Our friend's favorite Italian…read morerestaurant, so we ALL frequent it more and more often. And our group keeps getting bigger. Today's appetizers, all of which were really good: Meatballs - Huge, more than enough to share! Even with 7 of us. We all got a bite. Calamari - Fried well, decent portions. I think I ate most of this dish. Love me some calamari! Toasted Focaccia Bruschetta - Hit for our group. I enjoyed it also, but the calamari was still my favorite. Complimentary Bread - So good!! Always a favorite. We always have to get seconds. If you want 3rds, it comes with a $4 upcharge, but that is still worth it in my book. House Salads - Nothing special, but also not bad. Fresh, decent quantity, and with dressing on the side. Two Cesar Salads - Our guests enjoyed this. $5 upcharge each. Cups of Minestrone Soups - Good. Cup of Egg Drop Soup - One of our guests wanted to try this; $5 upcharge. Linguine & Clams - Both in white and red sauce. My choice was the red sauce. I kept forgetting that this comes with BABY clams as I prefer larger clams, and actually if it was still in the shell, that would be an extra plus. NOTE to self, do not keep getting this... Eggplant Parmigiana - Home run, both ladies that got this loved it! Huge slices of eggplant. Baked and fried well. Eggplant Parmigiana with Grilled Chicken - WOW, generous portions. I think my wife took ¾ of her dish home... She got another two meals out of it. Sauteed Calamari Steak - This looked good, I might get it next time. Our newest addition to our group. She also took half her entree home. Grilled Prawn Picatta - Not a large quantity, but because all of us (except one) are light eaters, our guest still took half home. Another good entree. I will also add this to my list for next time. Special Chicken Pomodoro - Decent portions, my buddy devoured this. He is a good eater. One of the few in our group, lol. Dessert, Tiramisu - This was really good. We should have ordered a second one... And to wash it all down, I got a glass of Italian white wine which I really did not enjoy... Atmosphere - Double storefront. We seemed to always end up sitting in the second room but not today! I liked that they had a bar in each room. Table, booth, or bar seating. Two unisex restrooms. Plenty of parking. See pictures for business hours. Open 6 days a week; closed Mondays. Service - Good. We had a leisurely 2 hour dinner and never felt rushed. We were catching up with our good friends and new friends. Price - $323 + generous tips. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1990 as Davos; we have been customers for a very long time. Glad we are back and introducing our friends to your restaurant. Mid 1990 - Coco Pazzo, then renamed to Panevino. 2000 - Zozo's.

Very happy to find a good lasagna where you can choose from having simple marinara or a bolognese sauce. We chose the bolognese and it was a perfect addition to the cheese lasagna. Plenty of cheese and sauce, the cheese pull was crazy. The veal Marsala was delicious, tender, and had great flavor. The sauce was rich in flavor somewhat lemony with plenty of mushrooms and coated the pasta perfectly. The pasta seemed to be very fresh and had great texture. We arrived 20 minutes after their 5 pm opening without reservations on a Friday and we had the option to choose the bar area which was great for us. The drinks were delicious. The basil mojito was very refreshing. The old fashioned was perfect and traditional. Great waiter and attentive. Helped me choose and offered me a good drink. Good Italian restaurant with a semi casual atmosphere.

Regina was our wonderful waitperson and she was from the beginning very helpful and clearly explained that her focus was about getting us out in time for the 7:00 performance start time. We had 5:00 reservations so it was great that we were there early. We ordered the grilled artichokes with a lemon aioli for an app and it was delicious. We had this before and just a tasty as ever. We also had a Caesar salad and we both think it's one of the best Caesars in town. My main entrée was a chicken marsala (5+/5). On the meu it's a veal marsala, but when I asked Regina if it could be chicken, she said yes! It was a perfect dish. The chicken was cooked exactly as it should, tender and flavorful! The mushrooms and marsala sauce with the pasta side made the whole dish one of the best I've had. I would definitely order this again!! My hubby ordered the chicken saltimbocca (5+/5) and his dish was absolutely delicious too. The prosciutto and sage were flavor enhancers for sure! Both dishes had a broccolini as the veggie and it too was prepared well. For dessert we shared an affogato. The added drizzle of caramel and chocolate sauce made it very special! We had the most enjoyable time and delicious food. We will certainly return more often. There are so many menu items we want to explore the next time. Thank you La Famiglia for a great dinner outing. We'll be back soon!
