For sushi I'd say Sky Asian Cuisine is the second better option in the Dayton area. The escolar (white tuna) is better here than at Choe's Asian Gourmet, but that's about the only thing I would score Sky Asian Cuisine higher on. The seating is in one large room with tables lined up in rows unlike in Choe's where the space is not one big rectangle and you don't feel as cramped on a busy day. Also the rolls aren't as good as at Choe's, but that's up to personal preference. I did see some amazing presentations of sashimi. Finally, the server at Sky was very pushy, constantly trying to upsell. I heard what the day's specials are. I've looked at the menu. I've given you my order, now please stop trying to sell me on more option. That didn't happen on my first trip to Sky, so maybe it was just an aggressive new server. read more

Don't miss the ahi pizza; pretty fun twist that resembles more of a tostada with an avocado puree base and ahi. yes please. BEST pad Thai I have ever had hands down. The restaurant may not look like much from the outside but the inside is beautifully decorated and the food was phenomenal. Very reasonably priced for what you get. Service was excellent. We had appetizers and two entrees and I don't have a single complaint about any part of our dining experience. Walking in the door not knowing what to expect, we were struck by the overall beauty of this restaurant! The staff was amazing from the beginning accommodating our seating preference. We ordered a variety of sashimi and sushi and were amazed at the presentation and quality of the food. Tim the manager was great visiting tables and making sure everything was perfection! First of all I  have to say the waiter was excellent. I started off with a single piece of white tuna sushi,  very good. Orderd one piece just to test the waters. Next, coconut seafood chowder. No seafood a couple pieces of corn and very bland. I ordered the same soup about a year ago and it was superb. Ordered the sashimi, sushi combo.  It was ok, I have had better elsewhere. Before I left I ordered the General Tsos Chicken, Maki B, Peanut Avocado roll, and the special roll of the day. They packaged the hot food with the cold food so I requested it be packaged separate to which the compiled. Later that evening started with the Peanut Avocado roll, different and could of used some kind of dipping sauce. Then started on the Maki B... Ground fish? Salty and too much garlic? Nothing crunchy about the Spicy Crunchy Roll. Actually kind of a gross dish. Haven't tried the General Tsos Chicken yet and they forgot the Special roll of the day. When i cashed out I tipped the waiter a $20 bill, about 25% tip. He had finished up his shift and already left.  I hope he got the tip. He deserved it. read more

This is a brand new restaurant in a location where a few restaurants couldn't make its business last more than a couple years. I was very excited to see something is going in and even more excited to find out it's an Asian cuisine restaurant. So I decided to take my mom to give it a try! First impression was that the owner has done a great job renovating this place, they knocked down all the walls in this place and gave it a very open and modern look!! I have to think very hard to visualize what it used to look like...! Since they just opened less than a month, I usually overlook the timeliness in getting my food. So my review will not be too bias. The menu has some good choices of alcohol drinks - wine, beer, cocktails and sake - enough for you to either try something new or just have something you use to drink. Then you'll see the appetizers, then entrees include Chinese dishes, Thai curry dishes, Japanese sushi rolls & sashimi, and a few Korean dishes. I tried the cocktail "Blue Zen", which is better than I expected - if you don't like sweet drinks, this will be one good choice!! I was going to try the Cucumber Cooler, but they are out of one of the ingredients. So I'll have to give it a try next time!! For dinner, I ordered a seaweed salad and "Magic" sushi roll. My mom ordered a shrimp tempura udon noodle soup, it came with choice of salad or soup. My mom picked salad, and she can't stop talking about how fresh the salad is. I tried a couple bites, and I agree with her but I wish the salad dressing has more miso in it!! My dinner was better than I expected. The fish was very fresh, and seaweed salad was as good as I'd expected!! My mom's noodle soup was so big that she packed left over home for her lunch next day!! Just a side note, the server has done a great job in waited on us, taken the orders, provided some suggestions in cocktail drinks, and helped me find the sushi roll that I want (I wanted the tuna and eel, and she was able to find something that is similar)! We didn't feel any slow service by any mean. When we got the check, the waitress told us that today is last day of their Grand opening discount (20% off), so it isn't too bad. Now for the price, because I've been eating out at different location, I personally think the price is reasonable with the portion of the food we received! Both of our meal with tax is about $50 before the 20% discount! Don't forget I ordered a cocktail, and it's pretty good size of drink!!! Check out the pictures, you'll see!! So I took one from her just to taste.... well, what I taste was a lot of "fatty" part of the salmon..... the picture will show you want I meant. I ordered the eel roll which was fine, and a side of seaweed. The seaweed wasn't as good as I anticipated because after being there a couple times with the same side order, naturally I'll expect the seaweed salad would be as good as the first couple times. Love this place and obviously so do many others because they've always got a crowd. The food is always good, only thing i've ever had that i didn't care for was the curry. It was kind of bland, with really runny sauce. Other than that one time the food has always been delicious. Service is always great. There are many waiters/waitresses and you can tell they have great teamwork because you will have several different employees come to your table to fill your drinks, take dishes, etc. The atmosphere/decor is nicely done as well. Decided to get some take out late the other night and really wanted some noodles. I should have known better than to get Pad Thai at a Chinese place but I have heard such good reviews I wanted to try it for myself. I'll start off by saying the portion size was nice and it did come with soup. The meal itself was terrible. I asked them to make it spicy and it had no spice at all and really no flavor at all. I also asked for extra egg which I saw a little bit in the dish but was charged $2 for this. I could buy a whole carton for that price. Needless to say I was not impressed. We also really liked the fried rice that came with the food. It had a unique flavor. Sorry, but the sushi is awful...how anyone in their right mind could consider it even "ok" would be dumbfounding. It literally made me gag at one point. This place was awful. The staff was completely disorganized and the food was mediocre at best. It seemed like your standard strip mall Asian restaurant made to look like a finer dining restaurant. We were with a five-year-old child and after taking 20 minutes to get our appetizers and then another 40 minutes to get our entrées our child was absolutely all done. The server had no idea what she was doing and had to go ask the manager or other servers questions frequently. We had to ask for soy sauce after she brought out the sushi, and she acted surprised that we asked for it. She only brought us out a way to go ramekin of a small amount of soy sauce. So when our entrées came we had to also ask for soy sauce yet again. How does a server not think soy sauce goes with sushi or Asian food? She continue to ask if everything was all right and as we started to tell her that we were unhappy she was already turning around walking away saying good to hear. Three times we waited over 10 minutes to have our drinks refilled.This didn't seem like an isolated incident as two other tables both with two separate other servers were complaining about the same thing. Needless to say, neither my table or the other two tables stated that they would be coming back. Especially for service and food that is way overpriced and overhyped. read more

I do enjoy this restaurant and the wide range of Asian dishes but I'm commenting primarily on my sushi experience. Since they've opened the quality of the sushi has increased. The fish itself is usually perfect, but rice is inconsistently problematic. Sometimes it's a neutral temperature, sometimes it's too cold, sometimes it's very sweet, but never has it had a good balance in flavor with rice vinegar, never enough. Also the ordering process is disconcerting. They don't use the usual paper check-list sushi menu system here. You have to dictate your order off the cuff to the server. When I order sushi I order large amounts of it, being able to write it down and see it before helps put into perspective how much I'm ordering, too much or not enough, etc. The wait staff here is somehow trained to NOT write down your order as you make it, they attempt to commit it to memory. This results in errors every time I go, I'm tired of it, they are not as skilled as they think they are. read more
