I'm sad. I wanted vegetable chow mein and all I got was vegetables drenched in 2 inches of hot water and there was no flavor. We tried to order on Postmates first, but that got messed up so I had to call in and pick up. We only ordered two dishes and one was completely wrong. It was mediocre at best. When Gee's Garden on Alvernon changed hands in 2015, we were heartbroken at the loss of really good authentic Chinese food. I still miss their weekend dim sum carts. But today we discovered Sky Dragon, which opened a month ago, and all I can say is wow! The food was over the top. Loved the hot and sour soup, the sesame chicken, the mongolian beef. The vegetable egg rolls were the best I've had in living memory, and the fried mantou dessert with condensed milk sauce was amazing. The menu is extensive with authentic Cantonese and Szechuan dishes. The chef and his family are from Hong Kong, so there are also curry dishes. Flavors were subtle and everything tasted super fresh. Our waitress, Brianna (or maybe she spells it Breanna) was attentive and gracious, and everyone made us feel very welcome. Another plus: acoustic tiles on the ceiling, real tablecloths and napkins and a pleasant, casual atmosphere. We're looking forward to going back soon and trying some of their more unusual dishes. read more

I used to love eating here, but my visit a couple of days ago was very disappointing. I ordered the lunch special cashew shrimp with hot and sour soup. My soup was not warm. When I received my cashew shrimp it was very spicy. I asked the waitress if it was supposed to be spicy even though it was not indicated as being spicy on the menu. The waitress stated that it is supposed to be spicy, but it depends on a persons tastebuds. She offered me hot sauce for my dish. I explained to her that it was already extremely spicy. I am a fan of spicy food, but it was even so spicy for me that I could barely eat any of my meal. My wife got the sesame chicken lunch special. Her food was very mediocre also. When I got the bill I noticed that the price of her meal was $9.99 even though on the menu it is listed as $7.99. I asked the waitress why it was two dollars more and was told that it cost more because the chicken is breaded. I'm not sure why breading is that expensive, but I will save my two dollars and go to a restaurant where I will get quality food for my money. read more

My wife and I tend to stick with places that are familiar and know that are good places to eat. This recently opened up in an area close to us so we decided to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised with how polite and kind the staff were. The restaurant is very clean and most of all the food was fantastic. okay overall . . . . the main reason that dragged the score down is the serving speed. Maybe our group of people is a little bit too large, comparing with other people sitting at other tables, so it took too long for the chef to have the food ready. But one positive thing of slow serving speed is that every time a dish was served, it went out immediately. The taste is good though. I really liked Pipa Tofu. A FANTASTIC Chinese restaurant! Been on the hunt for a new Chinese restaurant and found it today. Had the Beef Lo Mein, Sesame Chicken, and the Toothpick Lamb. The food was the best Chinese I've ever had in Tucson, Arizona (and I'm a native Tucsonan)! The portions are more than adequate. The dessert to have is the Fried Mantou. The service was superb. Ate here last Thurs with a party of 4, about 730pm. Place was fairly empty, only 2 or 3 tables occupied with small groups, but don't let that fool you. THE FOOD HERE IS OUTSTANDING! We had the crab puffs, Cantonese mixed noodles, duck two ways (Peking and in lettuce wraps) and ox tail hot pot. The food all had great flavor and came out hot (temp). I was with folks who don't handle spicy, so I didn't order any Szechuan, but the menu had dishes that sounded good and I want to try in the future. The entree sizes are pretty good portions, the only negative I have (and why I took a star) has to do with portion size of the rice and the lettuce for the wraps. For a table of 4 we got one small bowl of rice, with additional bowls costing $1.50 each. Granted, some may say that the only dish we ordered that qualifies for rice is the ox tail, but come on, rice is cheap. We also only got 4 pieces of lettuce total for the wraps; the duck filling was plentiful enough that we could have eaten two wraps each, and again, lettuce is cheap. Overall though, a very good restaurant and I would definitely eat here again. read more

The restaurant itself is not clean and there is some kind of oily smell all over the place. The Asian lady working there has certainly some kind of attitude for her work. My friends and I had a very unpleasant dining experience because of a rude waitress. She had no smiles and was in a noticeably sour mood serving our table. When I mustered courage to remind her one of my friends still had no water (20 minutes after arrival), she gave me a chilling, nasty look. All of us were appalled by this look so we asked her to be replaced by a much more friendly colleague of hers. Frankly I don't ever recall receiving such an attitude in Tucson. For the sake of this newly opened business, I suggest this waitress look for other employment opportunities. read more

Big points off for lukewarm, bland soup, stone cold egg rolls and a refusal to cut the bill despite not eating either the soup or the egg roll and alerting them to both issues. 45 minute wait for food I had previously ordered takeout and the food was done quickly. Suggested to my co-workers that we eat in since the service was quick last time. We were seated immediately and drink order was taken swiftly. Drinks were brought out right away. I asked for a straw for my drink and was told it would be right out. There were 3 at our table and each of us ordered the lunch special. Soup took about 35 minutes to be brought out. We have an hour for lunch so we asked the server how long our entree would take and his response "probably about another 5 minutes". We asked him to box our food because we now had waited close to 50 minutes and we had to get back. His response was "would you like me to bring out your checks?" Honestly? How are you asking for money when you haven't even brought our food. Finally the food was brought out one at a time. When I placed my order I asked for hot mustard and of course got none. We were brought take out boxes and had to shovel our food down on our drive back to work. The food was hot and tasty but I can't believe it took this long to prepare. On a final note, I never got my straw so I asked for a to go cup for my drink. I was told that all they have is small cups. I said never mind so he brought me a straw instead... Lesson learned, what we thought was going to be a relaxing lunch turned out to be a stressful race to the time clock. read more

Their hot and sour soup tastes too sweet even though they said they dont put anything sweet in there. Horrible service, they were waiting on everyone else in a timely manner except for us. We asked for 3 soups waiter only brought out 2. I asked for an extra plate and hiisen sauce. Waiter thought others were more improtant and we had to ask him again to get extra plate. He finally brought extra plate anf the plate was dirty. Then almost done with my meal and realized there was no rice. Stumbled on this Chinese upon going to a painting class. Finally a good Chinese food place with real Chinese in Tucson. Great pot stickers, Garlic green beans lovely, calamari cooked to perfection. I just ordered take out which included Sky Dragon House Rice, Kung poa chicken and crab puffs. You can tell alot about a Chinese restaurant by how good or bad the house fried rice is. If that is the case then Sky Dragon aims to please its costumers.! This fried rice is sweet and savory with bacon and raisins added to the traditional mix. It is light and not greasy like most. As was the Kung Poa chicken. The heat was not overpowering but more subtle with fresh vegetables in the mix. Finally the crab puffs were fried to just the right crisp. My only complaint about this restaurant is that there was no menu in my take out order so that I can order again! read more

This place has been on our radar for a while and we haven't had a chance to try it until now. Let me just say that we werent sure what to expect going in, seeing as how some people have recently been saying their pricey and small portion sizes on here, yet we've heard great things about the food itself. After our experience, what I can say is that I completely disagree with those who are complaining about that! When we first went in, we were kindly greeted by the staff and everything looked very nice and clean. Upon looking over the menu, my first thought was the pricing was rather reasonable, if not some things were LESS expensive than other Chinese restaurants we've eaten at in Tucson. So that was a good start. We were prepared for small portions due to what some reviewers have been saying on here, so we ordered quite a bit of food..the sampler, mongolian beef, pinecone fish, shrimp fried rice and mixed vegetables. When the food came out, we realized we definitely over ordered because the portions were HUGE and the food was sooo good! We're from N.Y. and it's hard to find authentic AND good Chinese here, but this place is the best we've tried in town since moving here. I don't know what the people who are complaining about their prices ordered, but I can say for sure from our experience that they are definitely reasonably priced with generous portions for some of the best quality Chinese food Tucson has to offer. They also have a great lunch special for 6.99 that includes soup and two sides with the entree. If that's considered expensive to people, then please share where else I can find GOOD, quality meals for cheap, besides the dollar menu. Finally authentic Chinese cuisine. SF Cumin Lamb, Braise Chicken Feet, Dry-Stirred Fried Pork Intestines are highlights. This is a large menu which is often hard to execute, the more common dishes Mongolian, Hunan, Kung Pao w/ name your protein are done well. All the Duck dishes are great, the Szechuan dishes really shine especially if you let them know your not afraid of authentic heat. If your looking for quick service Panda Express style food at fast food prices, you should stick to that. If waiting 15mins for your food frustrates you, you should stick to Macdonald's. If you love authentic Chinese food you will understand that this great food takes more than 15mins to hit the table as it would at any of Tucson's best restaurants. I have visited Sky Dragon twice and have been satisfied with the food. Better than most local Chinese Restaurants. However, on my last visit I was charged .$50 for each sauce I requested-hot mustard and chili sauce. When I went to the front to pay I complained about the charge and notified them I was not told by my waitress their would be a charge-the hostess said sorry and pointed to a sign that said extra sauces would be charged. Then I again stated I have never been charged at another Chinese restaurant for sauces, and was unaware of this and was not forewarned by the waitress of the charge-she said 'sorry'! I stated that I was very dissatisfied and did not think they were treating me fairly. Her side kick then put in his two cents stating 'Applebee's charges for their sauces'. I said I've never been to Applebees and for a $1.00 charge they just lost a customer. Her response was 'sorry'. Check your bill carefully! read more
