What a great night. Thursday evening 6:30 with a reservation. Cool vibe and amazing service from start to finish. Clarissa our server was amazing. Attentive with helpful suggestions and friendly service. Nick was what I would say was a busser but was so much more! Let's start with the fun part, the cocktails. I had the NY sour by way of Napa. It was an elevated bourbon sour with a red wine floater, beyond amazing, so much that I had 2! My husband had the Skybiscus a gin carpano drink and the Betty Paige a strawberry vanilla vodka passion fruit champagne floater contraption! He liked them both but preferred the Betty Paige. He felt the bubbles complimented the sweetness. Bring on the apps! We got the oysters which were SOP no complaints. Then came one of the highlights, the crab cake! This is all crab, little cake and was perfectly browned even with the minimal breading. But the over the top part...the caviar butter. The umami bomb it creates in a single combined bite of crab and sauce is unforgettable. Best ever, hands down. My husband had the almond crusted halibut. He said it was perfectly cooked and well portioned. Potatoes and the sauce all went together perfectly. He clearly noted the sauce was refreshing. (I am allergic to fish so can't vouch for this). I had the duck breast with crispy rice. It was amazing. Perfectly cooked with a little pink and a crispy flavorful skin. The skin holds most of the salt so took me a few bites to get that right, because it needs the skin for the seasoning. The crispy rice had a succulent duck confit on top which was amazing. Portioned right it could be its own satisfying appetizer. Highly recommend! Braised collard greens, bacon, spinach puree side was not my favorite. I didn't taste or see any bacon. I liked the collard and spinach on their own, but the vinegar of the green with the spinach put together didn't mesh for me. My husband didn't mind it as much. I love collards and make them often but this wasn't my jam. Will try the beans next time. Bring on the dessert. Because it was our anniversary we got a lovely dessert of our choosing and picked the chocolate mousse cake. It was great, crunchy crust not too sweet and served with a caramel vanilla ice cream. Here is where the amazing Nick comes in and tells us they make their own ice cream. They are not on the menu but I suggest you ask if you go because...brown butter ice cream, yes please! Absolutely amazing experience! 10/10. The ambience of the restaurant is really nice, it's a lsmall but honestly you do not feel crammed by any means, the space is used very well. Really nice set up and decor inside, felt very comfortable. Food and service was Top Tier, our server David was absolutely amazing, really enjoyed our evening and much credit to him. I ordered the Wagyu Steak and my wife ordered the Duck. We also had two of the crab cakes; everything tasting amazing. The Breakers hotel in Long Beach is a gem that I recently discovered. On the 13th floor, there's a fantastic bar lounge with breathtaking views of the Long Beach Harbor. The service here was exceptional. Rebecca and Yarely, the bartenders, were incredibly attentive and friendly. They checked on me frequently, ensuring that my drinks were always impeccable. Their smiles were infectious, making the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend trying their Caesar salad. It was truly remarkable and unlike anything I've ever had before. The Sky Room in Long Beach is absolutely amazing. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is classy, quiet, and elevated with a beautiful view of Long Beach. Honestly, there isn't a single bad seat in the entire restaurant -- every table feels special. They were closed for some time, but since reopening last year, it has quickly become one of our favorite places. The price is completely worth it. Every single thing we've tried -- from the appetizers to the entrées -- has been exceptional. Taylor was the first server who helped us and he was genuinely so sweet and incredibly attentive. We've also met Eric, who is just as awesome -- super down to earth and always happy to give great recommendations. He's also so easy to talk to and makes you feel at home. David truly knows how to pair food and wine perfectly, which elevated the entire experience. And Alicia at the front of the house is always so welcoming and helpful when seating us. They remember us every time, and we truly feel like family when we're there. The Beef Wellington is an absolute MUST. Came to Sky Room for the NYE set menu and had an overall great time! When we arrived. They only had valet which was fine since I didn't have to worry about parking. It's on the top floor of a hotel so we had to take an elevator up. Once we made it to the restaurant, we were seated quickly because of our reservation. Incredible place! For Christmas this year we planned a visit to Catalina Island which I had been dying to go to for years. When we arrived Wednesday we were informed that the ferry that takes you over were all shut down because of the raging storm. I mean it was understandable. So plan B my daughter was able to secure us 2 rooms at the Long Beach Fairmont. We were so grateful. The Sky Room was completely booked but my daughter was able to sweet talk the GM into squeezing us in at 8 p.m. Glorious news!! We were ushered to a perfect table for the four of us that was perfect. David our waiter was perfect at serving us impeccably. My son in law agreed to split a split of Vilmart champagne with me so that was a great start. We also ordered Oysters Rockefeller for the appetizer and the amazing milk bread house parker house rolls. The best rolls I've ever had in my life! They literally melt in your mouth no butter needed but we had anyway. The champagne was one I had never had before but it was great I'm not a fan of it being overly sweet, it was just right. I. For our mains my daughter and I had the Beef Wellington for 2, my son had the Flat Steak, and my husband had the Cod. My daughter also had the local chicory salad. I must say this was also the best Wellington I have ever had and I've had it several times. My husband had the Chestnut soup which came after the mains but was the only "oops" of the meal. I honestly didn't give David my usual 25% tip for this ( he should have made it up in some small fashion) For dessert we ordered the apple strudel and the "must have" Baked Alaska" it was a tough choice because the Bananas Foster" is a favorite but David assured me the Alaska was the better choice. Everyone has some tea and coffee for the fiinish, just fantastic dining experience, and this wasn't even planned but for the weather. I can assure you Catalina didn't have anything close to this level or at least what I saw and experienced. It almost feels like it would be the modern day place that the mafia would get dinner. It's a classshhyyy joint if ya know what I mean. My boyfriend made a reservation in advance and I was excited to have a new dining experience here. The waiters were all very professional and helpful with the menu. We started with the steak tartare and the steak was good but there was a horseradish flavor I couldn't kick and I don't like horseradish. The chips sort of tasted like home made sour cream and onion chips but elevated. I wouldn't re-order this. We also got the Caesar Salad which had boiled eggs on it and I do love egg on a salad. It was crunchy and creamy. I wish there was a bit more dressing on it. There was something that was missing from it - maybe the dressing could've been improved. It was good but it didn't make you want to lap it up. We ordered the ribeye & halibut for our entrees. I appreciate that the rib eye came with the bone already being cut off because that can be a pain. The steak was tender and I loved the butter on top, can't go wrong with more butter. The mashed potates were perfectly smooth, done very well French style. They were buttery and delicious. Overall, the ribeye was good but isn't something I'm still thinking about to this day. The stand out dishes: Potato Crusted Halibut - wowowowow. It was such a delicate piece of fish with that beautiful potato crusting that gave it a slight crunch to it. The sauce under it was creamy and lemony. You wanted to lather every bite in it and I loved the sugar snap peas with it. This dish had the perfect balance of everything! I am still thinking about it to this day. Banana Flambé - love a dinner and a show. Or in this case - dessert and a show. I loved that it's tableside! The brown butter ice cream is TO DIE FOR. Portions were small so we ended up having to order more appetizers while waiting for our Wagyu beef Wellington. We had two cocktails each and enjoyed those a lot (Betty Paige yum!). The Wagyu beef Wellington, spiny lobster, raw oysters, Dungeness crab cakes, Carrot/beets goat cheese side, and chocolate cake were delicious. The Parker House rolls were soft and fluffy, but a bit too salty for me. The Mignonette oysters and Chestnut & truffle soup were lacking in taste so we could've done without those. Not the most flavorful meat I ever had. I had different sides each time and surprisingly the dishes were so small that everything feels overpriced. I had the baked Alaska once and I didn't like it. I tried to table side desert with banana, they make it in front of you which is cool but again taste nothing special and quite expensive. We visited this restaurant tonight 4:/21 for the first time and ordered a fish dish.. With the pricing so high we expected a great dish. The chef' must have broken salt shaker. We could not complete the dish didn't salt level and quickly ordered sweet dissects. We do not like to ask for a replacement...and not sure we eat there again. I was a little worried about the mixed reviews, but couldn't have asked for a better birthday dinner! Husband and I started with the Garden Vesper (gin and vodka martini) and the Manhattan (rye and bourbon cocktail) - strong yet well balanced. We also had the NY Sour by Way of Napa with our dinner and liked the red wine top off. We put in the order of the CA Wagyu Beef Wellington right away as it takes about 45 minutes. For starters, we tried the Parker House Rolls, half dozen Oysters Rockefeller and Hiramasa Kingfish Crudo. The 2 rolls for $5 were soft and fluffy. Oysters Rockefeller were good, but standard. The Crudo was outstanding, though! Loved the flavor profile of the light fish with avocado puree, blood orange and salsa negra. This plate was a work of art with all its colors and textures! The CA Wagyu Beef Wellington is pricey, but hefty! The meat was incredibly tender, juicy and rare. The crispy puff pastry included a layer of herbs, prosciutto and mushroom duxelle. The bordelaise poured on top made this dish even richer. For the side, we went with the Pommes Sky Room Whipped Potatoes and it was so airy, buttery and light! The complimentary chocolate mousse tart and ice cream for my birthday was divine! Loved the crispy cacao nibs as a contrast. 4.5 Stars. This was on my radar for a while and wanted to wait a little while since it is new. I made reservations through Open Table and we went yesterday evening. It took us almost an hour to get there due to not knowing the Vans Warped Tour was going on. We almost missed our reservations. The newly renovated Fairmont Breakers Hotel is very nice and kept their original art deco design. The restaurant perched at the the second from the top floor is very nice with great views. A great start to a date night with my wife. This is very upscale and the service is what you would expect from a Fairmont brand. We started with cocktails at our windiw table and had the Uni toast bites and oysters Rockefeller. This was very good. It was then followed up with their crab cake appetizer with trout roe and caviar in the broth sat in. We ordered one for each of us as they are petite. Our server provided us with some fresh made warm Parker house rolls to sop up the nice broth. The crab cakes did not have much bread crumb filler which was great. This all washed down with their Chardonnay. The entrees came next. My wife ordered the chef's signature Waygu Beef Wellington which came with a separate small copper sauce pan of jus. I had the Liberty Farms duck breast with duck leg confit on a small puffed rice cake. We ordered sides of pureed potatoes and the collard greens with creamed spinach. The collared greens with creamed spinach was okay the first bite but then became too much like a vinegary bite. It was strange and was not what we expected. We wouldn't order that again. My wife washed down her entree with a nice Napa cab and I had a nice Russian Rivet Pinot. These paired very well with our dishes. The finally came with ordering the fresh peach Melba. This was done on a tableside cart and flambade the fresh peaches and was perhaps the best desert I have had in years. The homemade vanilla bean ice cream dallop in the peach Melba was outstanding. This place is very classy and made for a wonderful date night. The chef and his staff are very talented. They do have a rooftop bar above the restaurant with outdoor seating. We checked it out vut they had a DJ playing some clubby type of music. We left immediately because of the crappy speakers. It would have been much nicer having a small jazz act playing. The price is $$$$, so this makes better for a special occasion destination unless you can show some restraint and go easy on the alcohol consumption. LOL! We will be back. read more

The bartender made some really good recommendations on food. Once seated, we ordered immediately. We had the steak, whipped potatoes, kingfish crudo, and the beet salad. All the items were amazing and the quality was so fresh. For dessert, they kindly brought out the baked Alaska which was a lemon cake with a sort of whipped cream on the outside. Excellent Experience! I used to frequent the Skyroom four or more times a year back before it closed. Anticipation for the re-opening! Fairmont is an excellent hotel chain and we have had great food at their restaurants. High quality food and service! The Skyroom lived up to their reputation. We went for our son's birthday and nice touch that they recognized the occasion, that made the evening even more special. The view is wonderful as it was before. They did an amazing job with the interior, keeping with the Art Deco theme. The lighting is done well, very mood lit! Cocktails are exceptional. Usually my husband and son only have one cocktail, they each had two! We started with the Parker Rolls, very tasty. Then we shared the Caesar Salad, definitely sharable and excellent. We had three different entries. Black Cod, Hangar Steak, and Duck L'Orange. All three were cooked to perfection and served with a side. We also ordered Grilled Broccoli, definitely a dish to order. For Dessert, there are several prepared tableside. We ordered the Bananas Foster and glad we did. Definitely a very special place. We will be returning in the future. We also want to try the other restaurants in the Hotel. Service was excellent. Our waters were constantly being refilled and others on the team checked in on us. The Sky Room has always been a special place for my husband I as it's where we celebrated our first Valentines Day 23 years ago! Last night we were excited to return to The Breakers after it's renovation and it did not disappoint! We arrived early enough to have a cocktail in the lobby before our 5pm dinner reservation. The lobby bar is exquisitely decorated! The most chic art deco design with a modern twist... stunning! We enjoyed our cocktails and headed up to the Sky Room where we were promptly seated. Richard was our server and he was a delight. We ordered our second round of cocktails, our meal, and enjoyed the view. The entire meal was perfection. The caesar salad, crab cake, parker house rolls, beef Wellington, and masher potatoes were great! No complaints! Our Bananas foster was prepared table side with was beautiful! The restaurant was half-full. We wondered why we had to wait weeks for a reservation if half the restaurant was empty. We can only assume they are still in "soft-opening" mode or perhaps haven't been fully staffed? Now, I didn't award the five-stars for two reasons. One, although the meal was very enjoyable, we felt that the offerings and preparations were "safe". Nothing out of the ordinary stood out. And two, the reservation confirmation stated there was a Business Casual dress code. Most guests were dressed appropriately with the exception of a group of three that were seated shortly after we were. Two of the guests were wearing trucker hats, short sleeved graphic t-shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes. Everything was absolutely perfectly amazing... the Doorman welcomed us to the hotel, opening the doors for us. We were a bit early for our reservation, so we enjoyed delicious cocktails in the bar area. My friend ordered their special smoked Manhattan. What fun to have the waitress "smoke" the drink table side! If you've never had this, it's a must try, the flavor is amazing. When our table was ready, we were escorted and seated at a window side table. We had a lovely view of the waterfront of Long Beach. The occasion that drew us to the Sky Room was a special "Taste of LB" event. We ordered their Prix Fixe Chef's tasting dinner - a four course meal. After we entered the beautifully remodeled Breakers Hotel, we took the elevator all the way up to the "SR." We were greeted by two friendly hosts and were immediately seated by the window with an amazing panoramic view of Long Beach and the Long Beach Terrace Theatre. Interestingly, eight years ago, my husband and I sat in the same spot in the old Sky Room celebrating my birthday! This time, we were celebrating love and life and in awe of the newly renovated Sky Room! We started off with drinks. I ordered the Garden Vesper (Empress 1908 Cucumber Lemon Gin, Ketel One Vodka, Lillet, Lemon Peel Essence), which was very smooth! We were greeted by our wonderful waiter, David who provided some suggestions. we placed complete trust in his recommendations and he did not disappoint! For dinner, we ordered a shared serving of the California Wagyu Beef Wellington (Mushroom duxelle, prosciutto, bordelaise) with a side of Grilled broccoli, black garlic butter, parmesan tuile. We were informed that the Beef Wellington takes about 45 minutes, so David recommended the Sea Urchin "Avocado Toast", Half Moon Bay Wasabi as an Hors D'Oeuvres. The sea urchin is from Santa Barbara and was very fresh, clean, and delicious! For appetizers, we ordered the "Garden of" Butter Lettuce & Castelfranco (Fuyu persimmon, herb vinaigrette), which was light, refreshing, and delicious! To my delightful surprise, the Executive Chef of the Sky Room served the Wagyu Beef Wellington to us and explained where the wagyu beef came from. The first bite into the Beef Wellington and every bite after that was amazing! The meat was flavorful and very tender; it melted in our mouths! David suggested a red wine to pair with this meal, and it was perfect! Lastly, David recommended the banana flambé paired with a Port, and it was another amazing experience! The ambience is exceptional. The service was impeccable... It's absolutely an experience. Amazing views of Long Beach. We had an old-fashioned, a dirty martini, steak tartar, a Caesar salad, duck and trout. The main dish(es) fell short of expectation. I had the duck a l'orange. And the skin of the duck was not crispy, the sauce was flat and lacked depth, although a beautiful presentation. The Cesar was very good, but the dressing lacked distinguishable flavor and the cheese and cracked pepper dominated.. The steak tartar had good flavor, but a lot of sinew in the meat. I did not appreciate the chips as an accoutrement. Their dirty martini was exceptional. My friend enjoyed her old-fashioned and her trout, but was also concerned regarding the value between the high prices and the food execution. Went there with my boyfriend as an early birthday dinner for me. When your birthday is on New Year's Eve it gets to be a drag going out on the actual night. Anyway, here's my review. When we arrived promptly at our reservation time, we were told that if we wanted a window table it would be about 15 minutes so we settled ourselves at the bar. Turns out you can just pop in and eat at the bar if seating is available. It's a nice bar - no major view of outside and no TV which seems nice to keep the noise down. Our two Old Fashioneds with 4 Roses bourbon were fantastic. I love the 'right-size' cube - not a huge cube that steals the whole scene - but still a good chunk of ice so not to melt right away. And lo and behold in about 15 minutes we were whisked to our window seats. Now the window view is not fantastic as the place is on Ocean Boulevard and NOT the ocean, so one is overlooking the Long Beach theater and the lights one sees in the distance are the lights of the Long Beach port. I would say most tables are nice in that the space is not overly packed. While we were at the bar we had already perused the menu and decided on the Beef Wellington, one of several shared entrees they offer. It takes 45 minutes to prepare so we put in our order right away. We also ordered the steak tartare! The steak tartare was excellent with little dollops of egg yolk placed on top - that must be a bit tricky. The capers made it tangy and the beef was finely ground which I prefer to a chunky tartare. What I didn't like that much were the potato chips that came with it. Perhaps this is because the restaurant does Parker rolls and not regular bread or because the idea of thin potato chips is not to take away from the beef. But alas the chips were very spicy and tasted like the old Lipton onion dip. I skipped using the chips for chowing down the rest of the tartare and just ate them separately. We ordered a bottle of the Passi de Orma red wine, nicely priced at $55. I was glad to see that they offered reasonably priced bottles of wine. It was very smooth and it was a nice with all the beef. The Beef Wellington was as expected fabulous! Served medium rare - it does look like it was alive and mooing recently but continues to cook. It was so tender and served with a delicious burnt butter sauce. We chose broccoli as our one side choice, which was recommended by our great server, Jessica. Jessica also recommended the Cherries Jubilee dessert, slightly over the Bananas Flambe. The cherries were delicious and the dish nicely presented by Nick who was kept busy doing these side table desserts. Although a bit pricey it is worth it. The service was perfect. I was a bit surprised that there was no coat check but a staff person did take our coats away and we got them later. The restaurant and the Halo bar upstairs both close at 10pm but the bars on the first floor are open later. read more

Excellent service and excellent food make for an incredible experience. So, the big draw of this place is the location with the 360 views of downtown long beach and the ocean; incredible views. But, the somewhat recent remodel also makes the building incredibly beautiful; all the art deco touches really nod to the venues past and make it stunning. The staff is incredible eager to get you what you want and make your visit special. The Table for Two Tuesday deal is an incredible meal at a great value. Starting with a very large caesar salad and parker house rolls before the signature beef wellington accompanied by the mash potato side. The parker house rolls are warm and so soft and spongy with butter you barely have to touch to spread; they are delicious. The caesar dressing is tasty, not sure if made in house and they top it with ample cheese. The beef wellington is the star; the beef just melts in your mouth and the outside gives it that salty goodness taste. The potato are almost as much butter as potato; which makes them the perfect side. Even the wine pairing is better than one would normally get with a deal like this. I can't wait to go back. The best meal I've had in years - Paris / NYC / La - this chef is playful and legit. I highly recommend the Crudo / Duck / and the wine list to pair. Came here with my girlfriend and her family to celebrate her 30th birthday. Made a reservation through OpenTable and requested a booth, which the restaurant was able to accommodate. Service was good for a restaurant of this caliber -- prompt, attentive, and respectful. The drinks were well made and the food items were good, but not great. The vibe was nice where tables were spaced out well enough where you could have conversations easily without having to listen to surrounding conversations. Overall, the experience was pleasant and I would recommend if you are looking for a special dinner spot for someone special. read more

Wow--such an impressive experience! This spot completely blew me away with its stunning views and the gorgeous interior--the aesthetic is both elevated and romantic. I came here on a date and it truly delivered the perfect ambiance for something special. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and personable, which made the entire evening feel warm and welcoming. We had the steak tartare, risotto, and ribeye--everything was absolutely delicious. And don't skip the banana dessert--it was the perfect sweet finish with an impressive mini show! A must if you're visiting Long Beach and want some fine dining with a view of the water. I'll definitely be back. read more
