General Manager Courtney Miller and her staff provided attentive, flawless service, seating us with a stunning view of the marina, Shoreline Village, Harbor, and the Pacific Ocean. Because we don't drink alcohol, the staff generously swapped the complimentary 100-year anniversary champagne for amazing Strawberry Coolers. Chef de Cuisine Maxwell Pfeiffer delivered an incredible meal. We started with a tuna tartare amuse-bouche, Parker House Rolls, rich Oysters Rockefeller, and a buttery Dungeness Crab Cake. For our main, we shared the California Wagyu Beef Wellington--absolute perfection. Chef Maxwell even generously surprised us with a complimentary side of the Pommes "Sky Room" to go with our Sauteed Savoy Spinach! We finished with a Bananas Foster prepared beautifully tableside. We finally went to Skyroom for our anniversary, as it had been on our list for special occasion for a while. I made a reservation and asked for a nice table for the occasion. We got seated by the window and the view was really nice. The service was really nice, the waitress greeted us, asked about our special occasion and gave us a nice "gift" from the kitchen which was the tuna&caviar bites. We ordered crab cake, beef tartare, wagyu flat iron, liberty farms duck breast, and the tableside flambe banana foster. We also ordered 4 cocktails which I already forgot what we ordered. But they're all good as expected. The good: - the kitchen gifts for our anniversary were very much appreciated and very nice. They also gave us a free chocolate cake with a "happy anniversary" - The vibe and view was really romantic and great for the occasion. Although some people still wear super casual and wear shorts lol (it's Long Beach afterall) - my favorite plates were the steak and the crab cake. The banana foster was delicious too. The not so impressive: - duck breast was underwhelming and sort of dry. It's disappointing cos all other reviews were raving about it. - tartare, I definitely have had better ones Like I mentioned, everything was going really well and when the check came, the tip options were 20% at minimum, and we chose to tip 20% which I thought was normal. Well, pretty sure the waitress' face changed immediately and her attitude completely changed lol. It's very noticeable because she was super nice before. Maybe she expected us to tip 25%? Anyways, it's okay though, I still appreciate the great service although it definitely made it a little bit awkward after. Overall it's still a great dinner experience. I had a b'ness dinner at Skyroom at the Fairmont Breakers Hotel in LBC. There were positives & negatives. Positives: Marissa was an awesome waitress. She was knowledgable about the menu, and a pleasure to deal with; The hostesses were super nice. They held my bottle of wine while I used the restroom, and had a drink at the bar; The duck was excellent. The skin was crispy, and the meat was nicely seasoned & juicy; Secondarily, the oysters were very good. The raw oysters were fresh, and the cooked oysters were nicely seasoned; Negatives: Jenna was a terrible bartender. She took forever to acknowledge me, and took forever to make our drinks after my friend arrived. She made drinks for others that ordered after us. The hostess had to check on us twice, and I said we'll be ready as soon as we get our drinks; I was charged $3.75 extra for ordering a drink at dinner "neat". The alcohol is measured, so how can I be receiving more alcohol if my drink is neat vs w/ ice or mixed? I have never seen such an upcharge, and I travel around the country and the world; All in all a positive experience. There are other bars on the property (like Alter Ego downstairs). I loved our evening at the Sky Room! When you get off the elevator, you are immediately greeted with a beautiful mini exhibit on the history of the hotel and the restaurant. I loved reading all about their past, and how they have honored the story of the restaurant in the newly renovated space. The restaurant itself is luxurious and moody. We were originally taken to a room in the back that was oddly plain, so I asked if we could have one of the empty booths in the main area, and our host let us snag that table instead. We were celebrating, so we went for the wagyu beef Wellington as well as the Parker house rolls and caesar salad. It was all incredible, definitely the best beef Wellington I've ever had. And the mashed potatoes!!! I must say, the rolls and cultured butter were great..... but when you are spending so much money no matter what you order, it felt a little silly to charge $6 for rolls. Just toss us a bone here! I promise everyone wants 'em! The service was pretty exceptional. I asked for black pepper on my mashed potatoes, and 20 minutes or so later, I served myself another scoop of potatoes from the family-style dish. Within 10 seconds, our server miraculously re-appeared with the pepper grinder to top my second portion. I was blown away by the attention to detail. We finished up with the bananas fosters to really get the full experience, and it did not disappoint! I think every meal should finish with a little flambé. read more

For appetizers: Steak Tartare- great flavors. Broccoli - prepared to its perfection; nice crunch and good sauce. Cabbage - well cooked topped with bacon and excellent dressing. Crab cakes - can't describe.. it was excellent! Squash Risotto - for being a vegetarian dish it was amazing. Mushrooms on it were to die for. Beef Wilmington - this dish was made to its perfection. The Breakers hotel in Long Beach is a gem that I recently discovered. On the 13th floor, there's a fantastic bar lounge with breathtaking views of the Long Beach Harbor. The service here was exceptional. Rebecca and Yarely, the bartenders, were incredibly attentive and friendly. They checked on me frequently, ensuring that my drinks were always impeccable. Shoutout to Amex FHR benefits for giving us the opportunity to dine-in at the Sky Room while staying at the Fairmont Breakers! There weren't any available walk-in tables but luckily, the bar is open seating and you can order off of the same menu. The dress code is elegant casual so guys just have to have a collared shirt and long pants. We ordered just enough to hit the $100 dining credit and that included the Parker House Rolls and Cultured Butter, Sky Room Caesar, and Wagyu Flat Iron. Overall, the food was surprisingly good for a hotel restaurant. The rolls came with two and were super soft and fluffy. The wagyu steak was very tender and well flavored. Definitely on the pricier end and we probably wouldn't have visited if it weren't for the FHR benefits but I can see it being a nice date spot or a place to celebrate life milestones. read more

Even the customers were dressed to the nines, clearly understanding the assignment. We started with whiskey sours and old fashioneds both of which were delicious and strong. We also tried the crudités which consisted of seasonal root vegetables on ice and a green goddess dressing. It was weirdly beautiful and really good. For entrees we had the short rib with chimichurri which was sooooo good. It was tender and full of flavor. One of the best that I've had. As for dessert, we had tinted the banana foster which is prepared table side. It was so yummy, sweet, and caramelly. I was surprised with a very rich and chocolatey cake as a birthday treat. We made a reservation through OpenTable to celebrate a new job and had heard great things about this place from foodie friends, but unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. Our reservation was for 8:30 and we were explicitly asked to arrive at 8:15, which we did. Despite this, we were asked to wait another 45 minutes due to poor seating management and weren't seated until around 9:10 -- a disappointing start. Once seated, our server was professional and knowledgeable, explaining the menu well and offering solid recommendations. That said, given how busy it was (Saturday night), the overall service pace was slow. For a restaurant at this price point, I'd rate service around a 2.5-3 out of 5. The food itself was very good, but delays -- especially with our wine -- took away from the experience. While our celebration was verbally acknowledged with a congratulations, for a top-tier restaurant with a nearly $500 bill for two people, we would have expected a small gesture, such as offering a comped dessert, to truly elevate the experience. The ambiance and potential are there, but the execution fell short overall. Another part of our fabulous stay at the Fairmont Breakers was a dinner at Sky Room. Had never been to the hotel or any bars here and I was definitely missing out! The room is so beautiful, at the top floor and dimly lit, with comfy chairs and benches. At night, you can see out of the tall windows to the harbor and the Queen Mary and the other sites. We had a table all the way at the end, near the kitchen doors and a more limited view, so that was disappointing, but we still had much of a view so def. not a big issue. Our server helped us right away and offered many suggestions related to the menu. I'm not a big meat eater so I opted to order several side dishes, and my guy got a steak dinner. Portions pretty small as you can see in the photo (esp for the prices!) but the food was delicious! I wouldn't recommend the rolls and butter for $6, that should have definitely been included in the price of dining there. The carrots were so good, and the potatoes were fire. I wouldn't go back as the menu wasn't that thrilling for me, but I def recommend to try it once. read more

I've been wanting to try out the newly renovated Sky Room for a while now so I took my wife, son and d-in-law for a pre-Christmas dinner. We had a great experience overall. Food, service, cocktails, and the views were all exceptional. We never felt rushed, but staff were on-hand for any questions when something came up. I'd highly recommend the Bananas Foster table side. That was special! Between the four of us we had scallops, steak, duck, and fish. We got a couple of orders of their Parker House rolls, and a couple of cocktails also. If you're into bourbon I recommend the Sky Room Old Fashioned - remarkable. One Star Review - Rude Staff, Poor Service, and Discriminatory Dress Policy I've visited this restaurant several times hoping it would improve, but each visit confirms the same pattern: great drinks, disappointing food, and unprofessional service. The cocktails are consistently well made, but I've never had a single dish that stood out or made me want to return for the food. During my most recent visit, the staff's attitude and lack of transparency were unacceptable. On Halloween, I was refused service for wearing a tasteful Queen of Hearts costume that included a medical corset I use for back support, a multicolored blouse, and a tiara. Nothing about my outfit was inappropriate, offensive, or revealing. The restaurant had suddenly created a "no costumes" policy that was never posted online or on-site, and when I politely asked to see it, the staff became defensive and rude. I was told my outfit didn't meet their "business casual" standard because they wanted to maintain a high-class dining environment. Ironically, I often wear the same corset under a blazer for actual business meetings. Meanwhile, another guest wearing an equally revealing outfit was allowed to stay, which made the enforcement feel inconsistent and discriminatory. To make matters worse, that same couple was later denied rooftop access on her birthday due to a poorly advertised private event--another example of this restaurant's poor communication and lack of customer consideration. I've dined in fine restaurants around the world, and I've never been made to feel as unwelcome, judged, or humiliated as I did here. Between the rude staff, inconsistent policies, disappointing food, and lack of professionalism, I can no longer recommend this place to anyone looking for genuine hospitality or respect. My husband and I ate here many years ago for one of our anniversary's. And then it closed.... And remained closed for quite some time. We were happy to hear they were reopening and couldn't wait to go back again. I got the chicken and my husband got steak. WOW to both of them. The chicken was SO moist, tender and delicious. The best chicken breast I've ever had. It reminded us of deep fried turkey; in fact, the skin tasted just like deep fried turkey skin. *YUM* The steak OMG; it had the most amazing seared-like crust on the outside and melted it in our mouths. We have an ongoing "favorite steak" list from restaurants we eat at and this one moved to the top of my list! It became a close 2nd for my husband. We got a side of collard greens and whipped potatoes as well. The potatoes were heavenly. Buttery, garlicky deliciousness!! I didn't like the collard greens (not my thing) but my husband enjoyed them. The only disappointment was that they didn't do anything to celebrate my husband's promotion. Finally made it Friday night shout out to my bf for scoring an earlier dinner time because it all worked out perfectly. Friendly, knowledgeable, and she had the best menu recs that made our night. Service overall was seamless, everyone worked as a team, so we never had to flag anyone down. Attentive without hovering, which is rare! Drinks: I started with an Old Fashioned made with Japanese whiskey (Jessica even offered to smoke it loved the extra flair). My bf went with the Smoke 'n Mirrors super smoky, strong, and perfect for sipping. Later, I switched to white wine to pair with my meal. Food highlights: Parker House Rolls & Cultured Butter - Two warm little rolls to kick things off. Simple but perfect. Oysters with Green Tomato Mignonette - Briny, fresh, and that tangy mignonette was spot-on. Marinated Local Tomatoes - Jessica's pick and she was right. The stracciatella cheese (aka the gooey inside of burrata) with tomatoes was so refreshing, totally converted us into stracciatella fans. The Sky Room in Long Beach is absolutely amazing. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is classy, quiet, and elevated with a beautiful view of Long Beach. Honestly, there isn't a single bad seat in the entire restaurant -- every table feels special. They were closed for some time, but since reopening last year, it has quickly become one of our favorite places. The price is completely worth it. Every single thing we've tried -- from the appetizers to the entrées -- has been exceptional. Taylor was the first server who helped us and he was genuinely so sweet and incredibly attentive. We've also met Eric, who is just as awesome -- super down to earth and always happy to give great recommendations. He's also so easy to talk to and makes you feel at home. David truly knows how to pair food and wine perfectly, which elevated the entire experience. And Alicia at the front of the house is always so welcoming and helpful when seating us. They remember us every time, and we truly feel like family when we're there. The Beef Wellington is an absolute MUST. You really don't find places like the Sky Room in Long Beach. This is an absolute gem! I know that downtown is going through their Renaissance and it's exciting to see. The minute you walk into the Breakers hotel, you feel like you're stepping into a world of luxury with the high ceilings, marble floors, bright lights... It's beautiful! As soon as we got up to the Sky Room, I was was enamored with the interior design, especially the flooring and the bar. The space was well thought out. Our table ordered a few apps and drinks which included the duck parfait, seared tuna, and beef tartare. The servings are small but the quality is mighty! Zero regrets on our order. We made a reservation about a week in advance Before dinner, we have drinks at the Halo Bar upstairs which is recommended. We requested a window seat and they were able to accommodate. The inside has been nicely done with the remodel. They were offering a four course meal with wine pairing for about $250 per person. The menu was a bit underwhelming with a main course only described as King Salmon, so we passed. We started with a bottle of wine and a plate of Steak Tartare. We received wine service, which included a recommendation of a different wine. We then went with the Wagyu Skirt Steak and the Risotto. The steak and the risotto were fine and a bit underwhelming for the experience we were expected. Although the potatoes were pretty good and the highlight of the meal. We did get a complimentary dessert which was nice and delicious. Overall it was a fine experience, but unfortunately did not quite meet our expectations. read more

Beautiful double doors into a lux room of large windows, gold light fixtures and rose colored velvet couches. Greeted by a lovely group of hostesses, who checked us in. Short wait allowed me to snap a photo before being led to a back room that had much more privacy. Lovely Valentine's Day prix fixe menu made ordering a breeze. Got to enjoy a glass of champagne and try the famous wagyu beef Wellington. Enjoyed crab cake , Caesar salad, fresh baked bread, mash and a chocolate cake. Portions were perfect for two and then some! Tried a brambleberry and an old fashioned both came quickly and were tasty. The service, food and beautiful views were incredible. Skyroom is located inside of the Fairmont Breakers hotel. It's the second highest floor when you take the elevator. The very top floor of the hotel is the roof top bar. Parking is valet only or if you want to park yourself there are self parking lots near by. The interior of this place is very nice. Very yellow and has a nice vibe. The employees are all matching and they also match the bronze gold color scheme. The menu for food does not have a huge list of items and a lot of them are at least 40+ dollars. The beef Wellington was the main reason for coming and I have to say it was pretty good. One of the best I've ever had. The beef was nice and tender and the outside was nice and crispy. The outside tasted a bit bitter for some reason. The Wagyu steak was probably my biggest regret. It was really thin and a bit tough. Even cooked at medium rare. I wish it was thicker and less tough. It only came with string beans but I think it would be great if it came with string beans and mashed potatoes. The scallops were pretty expensive for what they were (3 pieces) but they were cooked fine. The service here I would say is pretty good. It's definitely on the higher end but I for the price I expected a bit more service. One of the issues I encountered was that there was something I saw on the menu that I wanted, when we got there the menu changed. The menu changes seasonally and they change it based on what is in season. Small issue but be flexible. The dessert with the peach had a bit of a show included. They cook it and make it in front of you. Overall, not bad. Definitely a nice date place. You need a reservation. Prepare to open your wallet though! Can't believe I've not been here yet, But from what I heard they just reopened couple years ago. Our service was amazing Eric was our guy who helped us with our decisions in our meals and they were spot on. 10/10 First off it's the Skyroom on the 13th floor and this place is a flash back in time with the old school amenities from the way our waiter is dressed and the seating with the tables and booths The view is amazing from any seat in the house . Got there just in time for the wonderful sunset with drinks in hand. Cheers to that. Crab cake is the best for a starter. I had the wagu flat steak, and we ordered the cod and it did not disappoint in anyway with the sauces and flavors were perfect pairing from the chef Max came out to say hello and was very personable and friendly. This was our first visit here. I had made a specific seating request and it was honored. I will say that the hostess staff was not the friendliest. The other issue I had was the fact that the restaurant has a somewhat strict dress code, which I appreciate and respect. My date and I dressed very nice for the evening. Yet, the staff allowed people in with shorts and football jerseys!! Not a good look and insulting to those that respected the dress code. Jessica our server was absolutely incredible! We loved her. She was so friendly, attentive, and helpful. As for the food, we really enjoyed the Parker rolls, Caesar salad, crab cake, and the Flat Steak. However, the Cod dish was horrible. What a great night. Thursday evening 6:30 with a reservation. Cool vibe and amazing service from start to finish. Clarissa our server was amazing. Attentive with helpful suggestions and friendly service. Nick was what I would say was a busser but was so much more! Let's start with the fun part, the cocktails. I had the NY sour by way of Napa. It was an elevated bourbon sour with a red wine floater, beyond amazing, so much that I had 2! My husband had the Skybiscus a gin carpano drink and the Betty Paige a strawberry vanilla vodka passion fruit champagne floater contraption! He liked them both but preferred the Betty Paige. He felt the bubbles complimented the sweetness. Bring on the apps! We got the oysters which were SOP no complaints. Then came one of the highlights, the crab cake! This is all crab, little cake and was perfectly browned even with the minimal breading. But the over the top part...the caviar butter. The umami bomb it creates in a single combined bite of crab and sauce is unforgettable. Best ever, hands down. My husband had the almond crusted halibut. He said it was perfectly cooked and well portioned. Potatoes and the sauce all went together perfectly. He clearly noted the sauce was refreshing. (I am allergic to fish so can't vouch for this). I had the duck breast with crispy rice. It was amazing. Perfectly cooked with a little pink and a crispy flavorful skin. The skin holds most of the salt so took me a few bites to get that right, because it needs the skin for the seasoning. The crispy rice had a succulent duck confit on top which was amazing. Portioned right it could be its own satisfying appetizer. Highly recommend! Braised collard greens, bacon, spinach puree side was not my favorite. I didn't taste or see any bacon. I liked the collard and spinach on their own, but the vinegar of the green with the spinach put together didn't mesh for me. My husband didn't mind it as much. I love collards and make them often but this wasn't my jam. Will try the beans next time. Bring on the dessert. Because it was our anniversary we got a lovely dessert of our choosing and picked the chocolate mousse cake. It was great, crunchy crust not too sweet and served with a caramel vanilla ice cream. Here is where the amazing Nick comes in and tells us they make their own ice cream. They are not on the menu but I suggest you ask if you go because...brown butter ice cream, yes please! Legit top 5 best ice creams have ever had. I can't say enough good stuff about this place. Great service, great food and reasonably priced for the quality. We will be back for sure. read more

Came to Sky Room for the NYE set menu and had an overall great time! When we arrived. They only had valet which was fine since I didn't have to worry about parking. It's on the top floor of a hotel so we had to take an elevator up. Once we made it to the restaurant, we were seated quickly because of our reservation. The service the whole night was great thanks to our server, Marissa. The food itself, despite having smaller portion sizes, tasted great! Every dish had a unique flavor. We were lucky to get a reservation here on a busy night thanks to the manager. This place is not cheap and the portions are not huge, but everything is absolutely delicious and made with care and the presentation is out of this world. If you're looking for a place for a special occasion or just need a nice quiet date night, this is definitely a spot. Even though it's expensive, I would recommend it. Bravo to the team. read more

Incredible place! For Christmas this year we planned a visit to Catalina Island which I had been dying to go to for years. When we arrived Wednesday we were informed that the ferry that takes you over were all shut down because of the raging storm. I mean it was understandable. So plan B my daughter was able to secure us 2 rooms at the Long Beach Fairmont. We were so grateful. The Sky Room was completely booked but my daughter was able to sweet talk the GM into squeezing us in at 8 p.m. Glorious news!! We were ushered to a perfect table for the four of us that was perfect. David our waiter was perfect at serving us impeccably. My son in law agreed to split a split of Vilmart champagne with me so that was a great start. We also ordered Oysters Rockefeller for the appetizer and the amazing milk bread house parker house rolls. The best rolls I've ever had in my life! They literally melt in your mouth no butter needed but we had anyway. The champagne was one I had never had before but it was great I'm not a fan of it being overly sweet, it was just right. I. For our mains my daughter and I had the Beef Wellington for 2, my son had the Flat Steak, and my husband had the Cod. My daughter also had the local chicory salad. I must say this was also the best Wellington I have ever had and I've had it several times. My husband had the Chestnut soup which came after the mains but was the only "oops" of the meal. I honestly didn't give David my usual 25% tip for this ( he should have made it up in some small fashion) For dessert we ordered the apple strudel and the "must have" Baked Alaska" it was a tough choice because the Bananas Foster" is a favorite but David assured me the Alaska was the better choice. Everyone has some tea and coffee for the fiinish, just fantastic dining experience, and this wasn't even planned but for the weather. I can assure you Catalina didn't have anything close to this level or at least what I saw and experienced. The check was $577.00 which was very reasonable for the quality of the fine dining experience. I definitely will return to this Fairmont Property! read more

We visited this restaurant tonight 4:/21 for the first time and ordered a fish dish.. With the pricing so high we expected a great dish. The chef' must have broken salt shaker. We could not complete the dish didn't salt level and quickly ordered sweet dissects. We do not like to ask for a replacement...and not sure we eat there again. We are residents if Belmont Shore and eat out quite often...probably not Sky Room again. Somebody needs to taste dishes for salt before they are released to guests!!! New classy restaurant at the Fairmont Breakers with gorgeous views of the city! It's got that old money sentiment but with a modern flair. It almost feels like it would be the modern day place that the mafia would get dinner. It's a classshhyyy joint if ya know what I mean. My boyfriend made a reservation in advance and I was excited to have a new dining experience here. The waiters were all very professional and helpful with the menu. We started with the steak tartare and the steak was good but there was a horseradish flavor I couldn't kick and I don't like horseradish. The chips sort of tasted like home made sour cream and onion chips but elevated. I wouldn't re-order this. We also got the Caesar Salad which had boiled eggs on it and I do love egg on a salad. It was crunchy and creamy. I wish there was a bit more dressing on it. There was something that was missing from it - maybe the dressing could've been improved. It was good but it didn't make you want to lap it up. We ordered the ribeye & halibut for our entrees. I appreciate that the rib eye came with the bone already being cut off because that can be a pain. The steak was tender and I loved the butter on top, can't go wrong with more butter. The mashed potates were perfectly smooth, done very well French style. They were buttery and delicious. Overall, the ribeye was good but isn't something I'm still thinking about to this day. The stand out dishes: Potato Crusted Halibut - wowowowow. It was such a delicate piece of fish with that beautiful potato crusting that gave it a slight crunch to it. The sauce under it was creamy and lemony. You wanted to lather every bite in it and I loved the sugar snap peas with it. This dish had the perfect balance of everything! I am still thinking about it to this day. Banana Flambé - love a dinner and a show. Or in this case - dessert and a show. I loved that it's tableside! The brown butter ice cream is TO DIE FOR.
