Original Review-- I believe I was significantly overcharged by this company. My garage door wouldn't close one late afternoon several weeks ago and the company I've done business with in the past couldn't come out for four days. I called Advanced Garage Doors and someone came out within the hour. I was relieved because I didn't want my door open all night. The technician saw the roller had come out of the rail and suggested I get one with a longer stem so it wouldn't happen again. The problem was that I'd need not just one roller but ten, which were quite expensive. He also suggested I upgrade to a bigger drum and cable, which I did. Because of the late hour, I was not able to get another estimate, so I put my faith in the repairman and was relieved when the door could be closed for the night. However, the next morning I called the company I'd originally wanted to come out. They believed I'd been overcharged by hundreds of dollars and that the repairman had quite possibly used commercial parts meant for a much bigger door than I have. Another company I talked to also quoted me hundreds less for parts and labor, and my online research showed similar results. When I called to discuss this, the owner was very argumentative. After much back and forth, he eventually agreed to reimburse me part of the money but only if I signed a waiver to not post a negative review. I decided to decline the money and post the review so others could know about it. Honestly, if the owner had been nicer on the phone I would be writing a more positive review, which I would much rather be doing. I noticed that in several negative reviews for another company Advanced Garage Door is connected with (E. S. Garage Doors), the owner responded that he didn't have any record of doing business at the reviewers' addresses. I am certain, though, that the repairman who came to my house and fixed my door was indeed from Advanced Garage Door.

He quoted a unit price and labor charge upfront, which I agreed to pay and paid. The bad: After the service was over, the receipt I got was from Tako Garage Doors. The person mentioned that they subcontract after hours. This was not what I wanted or had signed up for. More importantly I later did research on the unit that was installed and there seems to have been over a 100% markup. I called Garage Door Pros with this concern. However, they just had the guy from Tako call me and he said thats what the company needed him to charge. He did send me an itemized receipt. And I saw a clear over 100% markup on the unit, the keypads and the remotes.

Trust me, just call this one…read more I got inspection/quotes from a few other garage door shops before Isaac from Instant Garage Door Repair (AKA A.M.B. Garage Doors, they merged apparently). They all found the very obvious issue (door arm was missing) and said "yeah we'll need to replace the entire thing". Isaac actually open/closed the door a few times, looked where it might be catching or rubbing, checked the roller wheels and springs, door alignment, etc. Isaac very clearly knows garage doors -- and he delivered. He was able to service the main maintenance in like 40 minutes; it went from being impossible for my partner to open/close manually to being almost no effort (and it's a heavy door)! In addition, there was a broken and missing piece of plastic where the door arm normally connects... he was able to CUSTOM CRAFT a small piece of metal that fits perfectly into where the missing piece was, removing the need to replace the otherwise-functional system! All of this ran us half what other places quoted us for the full system replacement, and none of them even talked about realigning the door or upgrading rollers or anything, and he did it without needing to schedule another day.

I appreciate the attempt, but you shouldn't have to leave negative feedback for them to care about customers.
