The first floor was a little small, but cute with a black interior, photo op area, clean bathrooms, and an upstairs we didn't get to check out. We mixed between the main menu and the $5 after 5 list and got the meat pie, chicken skewers, spring rolls, beef bites and yam with fish stew dip. Every single dish was fantastic either crispy or tender respectively, savory, and seasoned to perfection! Highly recommend the chicken skewers and carrot cake (carrot cake not pictured as it was devoured on the spot). The only con of the night was waiting a long time for our food, but the servers themselves were amazing (shoutout to KB, our awesome waiter and mixologist), the food was worth the wait, and they definitely kept us entertained in the interim with karaoke night on a Tuesday. Melissa and the Dj warmed up the crown with banger after banger, and before long everyone joined in. It was an absolute blast to be a part of and we will definitely return! I had such a fun time at SkyVibe! If you're looking for something different to do with friends or for date night, their Sip & Paint experience is definitely worth checking out. The ticket included bottomless lemon drops during the painting session, which made the experience even more fun and interactive. The atmosphere was upbeat, the music kept the energy going, and everyone was having a great time. Even though food is purchased separately, don't skip it because it was honestly one of the highlights of my visit. My favorites were the beef meat pies, salmon bites, lamb chops, and the fufu with egusi. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned. I also appreciated that SkyVibe offers more than just Sip & Paint. They have karaoke nights, happy hour specials, and other events throughout the week, making it a place you can come back to for different experiences. The food here is delicious! I was a little skeptical because some spots that are restaurants and lounges (more clubby and hookah vibes), they usually miss on the food. The food here was delicious for my large group. So flavorful and well done. I'd certainly return to eat. Now, for the vibes. I hate loud music at a restaurant, but this spot had basically no speakers on their rooftop. So the sound was very low for the music they were playing. The music might've been coming from the tvs, but I'm sure they have the capability to turn it up a little so it's still background noise, but able to be enjoyed. The service was fast and efficient. Skyvibe is a beautifully decorated, modern restaurant and lounge in Laurel with such a sleek, upscale vibe. We stopped in randomly and were immediately greeted with genuine kindness and hospitality. The bartender was fantastic, super welcoming and we ended up having a great conversation and I love that! They offer an African fusion menu featuring favorites like jollof rice, suya, meat pies, and jerk chicken. I didn't get a chance to try the food this time, but after seeing (and smelling!) everything, I'll definitely be back to do just that. My only small drawbacks were that they don't carry Patrón and the prices run a bit on the higher side. Aside from that, it's a really nice spot with a great atmosphere. I've dined at Skyvibe twice now; for dinner and brunch. I'll focus on my dinner experience. I love that they are located in historic Laurel. Having an African restaurant adds to the diversity of dining options. I stopped by after a nearby appointment, around 4:30pm on a weekday. It was my first visit. I entered through the bar and wasn't sure where the hostess was as no one greeted me. So I picked a table in the main dining room and seated myself. I later discovered the main entrance was street facing, not the entrance closest to the parking lot. Let me commend the decor. It's dark, but sexy. I think it's great ambiance for date night. I especially love the bar area with the elephant mural. The white piano in the main dining room is a nice touch. The table lamps blended well with the decor and were very useful as the lighting was dim for reading the menu. I got the Red Snapper with fried plantains and jollof rice as sides. While the food tasted good, I found the fish to be bland and asked for a side of pepper sauce which was provided. I didn't order any drinks because I wanted to eat my calories instead. My food was served exactly 30 minutes after ordering. The service was great. I requested and was given a tour of the upstairs lounge and patio. I finally had a chance to visit SkyVibe in Laurel, on main street. It definitely has a Vibe. Very nice bar, dining, and lounge areas. Nice decor. There is a rooftop, but I did not go up there. Bartender and staff were very friendly. I sat the bar and had a coconut island drink. Nice citrus and coconut flavors, not too sweet, with just the right amount of alcohol. I had Beef Bytes, Nigerian street-style beef suya, onions, suya seasoning. Very good flavors. Meat was not tender enough to my liking but the overall meal was filling. Came here on a random Sunday night and was promptly seated. The lounge was a little under half full. We decided to share the sampler (shrimp, chicken, beef, salmon bites) and goat stew. Unfortunately the wait was about 30 mins and only the goat stew arrived. Within about 10 minutes after alerting the server, the sampler arrived. On a brighter note, food was delicious. Very flavorful. But if you like Nigerian food for the spiciness, be sure to ask them to put some pepper sauce in your dish. On the way out we realized the sign said rooftop so we went back to take a look and the hostess (maybe manager?) was enthusiastic about giving us a tour. There are 2 extra rooms upstairs including a rooftop! Size misleading from the outside for sure. Great space for private dinners on lower level too. I've only been here on Fridays but the vibe is always right. I appreciate when the DJ mixes things up a little bit instead of committing to afrobeats/ampiano all night but since that's the clientele - I get it. Drinks are always good, service could be a little better. My friend has a great relationship with the bartenders but that seems to hinder more than help because we tend to have to wait longer for our drinks. (this happened in June and I finally feel ready to share my experience) I visited on my birthday for a solo afternoon celebration (my birthday was on a Monday). The hostess was kind and accommodating, and I was impressed with the ambiance enough that I was initially planning to leave a glowing review. They even let me take pictures in the upstairs lounge, which I appreciated. However, my experience with the waiter who I won't even name atp, left me feeling deeply uncomfortable. He moved me from my original seat to the bar under pressure, brought me multiple shots of Rémy and topped off my champagne glass repeatedly, without ever disclosing the brand or price. I assumed, as many would, that all this was a birthday gesture "on the house." It wasn't... When the bill came, I was charged nearly $40 for the champagne. When I voiced concern, the waiter tried to hand me a partial refund in cash in front of the manager, who then claimed he couldn't process a refund to my credit card. It was confusing and humiliating, especially as I'd never requested most of the add-ons I was charged for. I ended up speaking with the hostess privately, who was shocked by what I shared and said she'd handle it and I left feeling distressed and shaken up. The bill was voided completely, because I never saw the charge, and I appreciate that however I am leaving this review because no woman celebrating alone should feel uncomfortable, pressured, or blindsided, especially on her birthday. My family and I visited Skyvibe for a Sunday brunch and had a pretty good experience, despite a few bumps. After we placed our drink order, the waitress came back to say they were out of Sprite, and somebody was running to a nearby store. We also had an order of hot chocolate (which is on the menu) and were told it was being prepared but may be a little wait. It ended up taking about 30 minutes for the sprite to be brought to the table, and we were told they couldn't find any hot chocolate at the store, so it was no longer an option. We were the first table to arrive, so it was a bit strange that at opening, the restaurant wasn't stocked with items that were options on the menu. We ordered the plantain appetizer for the table, and enjoyed the sweet plantain with the sauce (tasted like a sweet chili sauce). For the entrée, a few people ordered the salmon which the menu said came with jollof rice. That was where we were again, confused. The rice was clearly not jollof, but fried rice (which honestly seemed like the frozen fried rice you can get at any supermarket). When we asked about it, one of the staff said it's "jollof fried rice". I asked what makes it jollof and he said "the person who cooked it". Ok... I ordered the shrimp and grits and did enjoy that. They offer bottomless mimosas and bottomless lemon drops, and everyone did enjoy those. The DJ was also great! We enjoyed the mix he played, which added to the experience. I think I would visit again because overall, it was a good experience. I just really don't like when menu items don't match the description. I order based on the details provided on the menu, so it's disappointing when what's presented is not that. read more

I have visited the lounge a few times. Each time I am underwhelmed. This past time was a collective summation of all of my experiences. 1. The music was way too loud, I left and my ears were ringing for quite some time. 2. The tables are not turned over quickly which resulted in something sticky on the table and Floors. Something was leaking from ceiling. 3. The waitress never stopped by to take drink or hookah orders. We ended up ordering drinks from the bar, hookah never happened. It is one of the few late night options in Laurel, so I will take it, but service needs some attention for longevity. I would return, but have adjusted my expectations. read more

I really wanted to love this spot because it's local and still fairly new, and I want it to succeed, but I think honesty is key. I will just say that the food wasn't what I ordered and I wasn't told in advance that because we ordered when the kitchen was transitioning from brunch to dinner, they would modify our orders per their choice. The menu said there was plantain relish with the salmon dish ($26) and what I got was salmon with some barbecue sauce on it. Underwhelming. The timing of our order was because the server took so long to come to our table so we could place the order. There was lack of transparency when it came to the bill which was initially showed to us on a screen rather than being printed out for us to review. They charge a service fee AND an automatic tip of 10% (for 2 people), but they didn't bother to mention that at any point and since there was no paper receipt until we asked in order to figure out why the bill was so high, we didn't see it until after we tipped. The bill was supposed to be corrected but they took so long, we didn't feel like waiting any longer so we left. Our server was very polite (although he asked for the tip on CashApp - a bit strange) and when he explained why, I didn't mind giving it to him that way but the establishment should just pay their workers better so that each person can keep the full tip that they earn. Their employees deserve better. The manager did come around to ask about our experience but it was before all of the problems surfaced. Our server generally did a great job so we had no complaints about him. There is a cute upstairs lounge with a DJ which looked like would be great to rent out for a small party, and an outdoor space on the roof which was rather dirty but had a pleasant breeze and seemed like would be great in the evening. I think a DJ was coming out there as well. The jollof rice was decent but overall I probably wouldn't go back. I hope things will improve with time. It definitely was a vibe at Skyvibe! I had an enjoyable time with some friends at the bar area last night. The place has a very dark aesthetic, the music wasn't overwhelmingly loud, and as it got later, there was live music from a violinist. We first ordered drinks, and the bartender was so kind to bring me a free additional cocktail! I'm not sure what the second drink was but it tasted better than the banana island cocktail I first ordered. I will admit, the drinks are a tad pricey, especially for Laurel, MD, so it was nice to get a free drink. We eventually ordered some food and got a side of jollof and the salmon bites, which came with a really tasty dip. I really loved the salmon bites and they made a great bar snack. It's great to have a bar/lounge with DC vibes in suburban Maryland. Saves time for having to drive all the way down to the city. read more

Where do I begin! We were excited to feel the vibes at skyvibe lounge and experience some karaoke however we showed up on game night lmbo.... However the night was amazing! When you walk in you can feel the luxury, the decor, paintings and overall aesthetic is simply beautiful. We were seated immediately as it wasn't too busy on a Wednesday night at around 7:30 ish. Our server was so nice as she had her work cut out for her. I was with a party of 9-10 to celebrate a birthday. And our waitress was the sweetest, took her time , made sure to get everyone's meal correct, and was a pleasure. She explained the meals perfectly to the non- Nigerians in the bunch and gets a A+ from me for pronouncing the names of some items on the menu. She even was invited into our pic and willingly obliged. Nandi absolutely passed the vibe check. If you visit ask for Nandi!!!!! Yes, I say wholeheartedly this place has the most authentic Nigerian food I've had at a restaurant. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal. I got ewedu & gbegiri w/ amala and that food was the best and most amazing I've had in this continent my goodness a 10 out of 10. I thought I'd come back and give them a try after seeing them mention they were under new management and a new happy hour concept. This special was advertised as pay the hour price which means if it's within the 4:00 hour you pay $4 for a drink for certain bites, 5:00 hour you pay $5 for certain drinks or bites, etc. It started at 4:00 so I made plans with friends to meet them there at 4:00. I believe again my money's worth so I arrived at 4:15. I approached the door I entered before but when I tried to open the handle it was locked. I was a little confused and double checked my watch which displayed it was after 4:00, almost 4:30. I noticed there were cars in the parking lot with people sitting in them so I decided to walk around to the other side because I remember they said they also renovated somewhat. That door however was locked and there was signage on it stating to go to the door I had just left. I noticed someone sitting at the bar as I walked back past and lightly tap on the glass and they told me to go to the door I originally tried which was locked. I went back to that door and again it was locked so I knocked but no one came. I started to wonder if the gentleman who was sitting at the bar was directing me to go up the stairs to the door around the corner so I attempted to. However, there wasn't a door around there so I decided to go up the next set of steps to which I found seating and tables halfway covered which gave me the impression this area had not been used today or in a while. I proceeded around the corner to another area that had high tops but that door was locked as well. As I was coming back down, I decided to call my friend and informed them that the doors were locked. As I got to the bottom of the steps I noticed someone had put a sign on the door I had tried originally stating they didn't open until 5:30. I laughed because how are they going to put a sign up on the door sitting they don't open until 5:30 after they just told me to try the door. It would have been nice if they would have just opened it and explained that to me. Also how do you advertise having a happy hour that starts at 4:00 and not open until 5:30? We left and went somewhere else down the street. We decided as we were walking back to our cars that we would try again. So we decided to go in and sit down. My friend had already had a few drinks so decided upon only water. I wanted to try their drinks and food so I ordered a margarita and the jerk wings. I noticed the bartender from before who has always been extremely helpful and nice was there again. I thought I had ordered my drink one way but she quickly came back and told me I had stated something else and without a breath offered to make it the way I believe I had ordered originally. How awesome was that!? She brung the new drink to me and it was perfect! I then asked her when the wings would be ready and she stated they had a large party so it should be out shortly. When the wings came out I noticed they looked odd but decided I would try them first. They were very dry and instantly got stuck in my teeth. I asked for a takeout container and when she brought it over to me, she asked me how my food was. I explained to her I wasn't the biggest fan of it and that it was really dry. She informed me that they most likely cooked it in the oven first then reheated them. Well that would explain why there's absolutely no moisture in those wings at all. She did remove it from my bill and I was gracious for that because I had told her I was just going to give it to a homeless person as I rode through the city and she told me I still could. Well, that was my third time trying this place and I can say with confidence that I will not be back. Hopefully they get things together and improve tremendously. I came around 530pm for ladies night on a Wednesday currently they are giving 1 free lemon drop to each lady who comes in. Your choice of flavor from strawberry, mango, passion fruit, watermelon and white peach of course the regular lemon as well. I tried the passion fruit , watermelon and the white peach and wow that white peach has won for me. Ask for Alex he makes great drinks and is an amazing waiter and bartender ! The resturant is beautiful and has ample parking so you won't have to stress about parking when coming here. We had the jollof rice which I personally was nervous about but it is definitely not he best jollof rice I have had from any resturant in the DMV and I have tried at a minimum 10 different places. I'm Nigerian and My sister is a chef and even she raved about how good the rice was. We also got the spring rolls you have the option of beef , shrimp or chicken. You truly will not regret it. They are not your average spring rolls they are massive ! It comes with 2 split in 4 but I promise it is extremely filling. Between the jollof and the spring rolls we were unable to eat our main course. The spring rolls are PACKED they did not skimp on these and they taste even better. It comes with a sauce that is truly not needed because the chicken is seasoned very well and everything else inside the roll adds to it 12/10 for me. The resturant was clean and quiet in the first half of our meal and started to fill up as we sat and ate. All food is made to order so it will be coming out pipping hot for you. Great for a date night , night out with friends, happy hour, solo date, work from home etc. They do offer a variety of drinks as well as hookah for $43 which isn't a bad price for the area. I ordered two portions of suya and one portion of wings to go, it took 45 mins to get my food, and they even forgot one of the portions of suya, now onto the taste and quality of the food, the suya was chewy and tough, and the bowl was stuffed with more onions and cucumbers than any actual suya, the wings were not fresh at all, and they were over cooked to the point where they were dry and hard, also I could see they didn't clean the chicken well, as there was still hair on some of the wings. Saturday afternoon, I popped into the restaurant to meet up with a girlfriend. We were warmly greeted by the manager, Yaya. We were seated immediately on the main level. It's definitely an international /African vibe. With modern and upscale decor. Our waiter was super nice. We ordered a martini which was great! For entree, I ordered the Skywings in Buffalo flavor. What I loved is that they were able to do all flats and bake my wings hard. For my entree, I ordered the lamb chops which were delicious. For my sides , I had the jollof rice and plantains. I took off a star because it took a while for food to come out. Not just my table, but others . So, much I watched a couple leave. Yaya gave us a great tour of the skylounge! We learned it doesn't open until after 5pm. I definitely plan on checking it out on a busy night like a Thursday , Friday, or Saturday. The service is really what spoiled my first visit to this establishment. I was super excited about going because I had seen such great posts on social media. Upon arrival we were not greeted by a hostess, we actually waited over five minutes for the host to arrive at their post, they then confirmed I had a reservation and gave my party of two the option of a table or the bar. We opted for the bar. Upon sitting at the bar we were not greeted or offered any water. We sat there for over ten minutes watching the employees make drinks for others (who were seated before and after us) before I asked, "who is our server" to the nearest employee behind the bar. They responded with, "it's supposed to be two of us, but let me get you some water". From there service was provided. We decided until brunch service was over to get access to the regular menu. We ordered wings and fries; which were fresh and seasoned well. The music was good and the vibe was cool. I'm willing to give this establishment another try. There was one couple sitting in the restaurant area, no hostess but someone gladly walked me inside and showed me where to go (def think he was just getting off work from here maybe). The bartender was standing at the end of the bar staring at her phone drinking a drink slurping an all. Never looked my way, no greeting nothing. Once she was done w her drink she left and went to the back. So I waited a few minutes longer and nothing. So I left. Here's the kicker, I'm here on my company's dime (basically an unlimited spending account) and I had 7 people who were going to meet me here w the same company card I have. So this was a big miss. There was no one at the door to greet us. We kind of wandered around til we figured out where to go. Once we seated, we waited for a while unsure of what to do it wasn't until we went up to to bartender to ask for a menu that she mentioned she will be coming to our table soon. The bartender was very sweet tho. Do not order the peppered snail. They sent 5 snails in stew for $35. Nothing on the side. I'm sure snails are expensive but at least adding rice or plantains is not asking for too much. Otherwise, nice drinks, peaceful location. read more
