    Traditional Lobster Roll
    Leslie A.

Came here on a random Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. We ordered the same traditional lobster roll, however with different sides of fries and sweet potato fries. It was absolutely fantastic. And here's why. The roles came out nice and warm with ample butter all over that perfect brioche bread. The lobster filling had no additional filling like vegetables or stuffing or breading in order to fill it up. It was 100% pure fresh lobster and it was amazing. What was also incredible as the depth of the menu and all the different choices. We also got a shareable plate of lobster tater tots, which is basically a lobster hush puppy and this was amazing too, and the sauce that came with it was out of this world. It was also so nice to see alcoholic options, however, more alcoholic options that were on draft. This place you walk into go up to a counter, put your order in and then they bring the food out to you and they even clean up your table after you so it's a little bit of service The place was super clean and the staff was super friendly. I have to come back to one of these in the near future. If you're in the area and there's several locations of this available throughout Carmel and fishers this is definitely a place to stop by.

A new restaurant has taken over the space connected to Market District. Hopefully, Slapfish is a well-enough established brand that locals will patronize it and keep it open. From what I saw, that seems to be the case. If you have been to any other Slapfish, then you know what to expect here. Order at the counter. Expect fresh and tasty seafood to be delivered to your table in a timely manner.

Ok, I was a little surprised when I pulled up to a grocery store, but then I found Slapfish in the corner. I already regret not taking a photo of the Clam Chowder, which was outstanding, but had to take a photo of the mussels, which were as good as the internet said. Were they the best Mussels ever, no, but I've had a lot of mussels. Were they still well above my expectations, yes. I added asparagus and the lemon from the asparagus fish to the broth of the mussels and didn't regret it at all. I wanted a quick, delicious meal before getting back to work at my hotel, and I'm glad I picked Slapfish. Food was fast, seating is casual, there was indoor, outdoor, and "slightly outdoor" seating which was nice because it was lovely outside and the sun was setting so I got to enjoy the sunset while eating in the summer warmth.

I've visited slapfish quite a few times, but this was my first visit to the Carmel spot. It's located inside the market district grocery store, and has plenty of seating available. I decided to start with the lobster tots, which were not anything special. They mostly tasted like a hush puppy, and I did not taste any lobster. For $12 I would not order again and would rather get the lobster dip. For my entree I got the clobster grilled cheese. I really enjoyed it and it had a wonderful toast on it. My friend commented she thought it could have used more cheese. The seasoning on the fries were delicious. The special sauce has some spice to it. The restaurant was clean and the staff was so friendly. I would definitely return and try some different dishes.

This Slapfish location is huge with lots of tables and booths. Ordering at the counter was friendly and quick. The clerk recommended the Power Bowl. The Power Bowl is amazing. The three types of fish were cooked perfectly, hot and flavorful. The Mahi Mahi had a lemon butter flavor. The shrimp are lightly breaded with a spicy garlicky seasoning. The salmon had a spicy seasoning. There is so much going on in this bowl! Avocado, pickled onions, egg, spinach, radishes, pumpkin sto name a few. Every bite was super fresh. I didn't want to eat the whole bowl, but I did. I didn't even need the dressing because there were so many flavors. The Power Bowl is a must try! There are a couple of separate dinning areas, including an outside patio space. The booths are comfortable. Classic rock plays gently over speakers. There is a subtle mix of nautical decor. Yes, I felt like I was at the beach. Oh, they have booze! Beer, wine and a few select cocktails are available. A manager walked around and checked on customers. Nice touch. I'm so glad to have a Slapfish so close to home. I'll be a regular because I want to try everything on their menu! There was plenty of parking at noon on a Friday, but I'm guessing parking is harder to find during the dinner hour. They do a robust carry-out and you can order ahead.

I want this to be my first review of 2026 because this is one of my family's favorite spots and I'm so happy that they opened a location by their house! It's truly one of the only restaurants that we all agree on and is always a total win. This location is connected to the Market District grocery, so it's super convenient. Order takeout, pick up a few items, and bring it all home or eat inside or in their beautiful covered patio. Slapfish nails the combo of healthy and delicious. Every single menu item is amazing. Every person is always happy with their meal (including kids - they have a great kids menu). what we get. My most-ordered items: - Hawaiian bowl: shrimp, rice, pineapple, and the best herby sauce ever - Citrus salad: also has shrimp and is my runner-up order; the dressing is incredible - Fries: seasoned to perfection My family's favorites: - Power bowl: you get three types of seafood and veggies but again, the sauce makes it delicious - Shrimp burrito: huge, packed perfectly, and again, tied together with an incredible sauce - Lobster roll: no explanation needed The owners are an amazing local family and I love supporting them too. We just visited Indy for a few weeks and got Slapfish three times - LOL.

Been a fan of Slapfish ever since my first bite at their other locations, so I was excited to have one closer to home (hint hint--put one on the west side too!). This location absolutely delivered the same tasty, high-quality seafood I've come to expect. Did the menu expand? There's pasta now! I try something new every visit and still haven't made it through everything--so far, every dish has earned my stamp of approval. Kids' meals are available, which is a plus. The chips might be a bit spicy for younger taste buds, so I'm curious if unseasoned ones can be requested next time. They also offer a handful of draft beers, along with wine and cocktails. The staff was cheerful, attentive, and genuinely helpful. Parking is free and easy, and the location next to Market District is super convenient--we even walked over to grab some sweets before heading home. Overall, a great addition and a welcome closer Slapfish option!

Slapfish is one of my favorite spots and I was thrilled to see a new location inside Market District! I'm already a frequent visitor of Market District so I see more visits to Slapfish in my future. My first visit I went with a friend and we both enjoyed the devour special. The Clobster grilled cheese is my favorite meal. The sandwich is buttery and crispy with a little bit of spice and the fries are perfectly crisp and seasoned well. I love that I can get draft beer or a glass of wine. I will say, lobster can come with a price and my casual lunch was $40+, but it's worth every penny.

Slapfish is the best seafood restaurant in town. This new location in Carmel is upscale and convenient. I met friends for lunch this week. I ordered the Power Bowl because the bowl comes with three types of fish. The bowl came out quickly and service was friendly. The Power Bowl is topped with perfectly grilled mahi mahi, salmon and shrimp. The fish is on a bed of mixed veggies and rice. Avocado and egg add additional healthy factors to the plate. And I love the pickled onions. The dining room is comfortable and easy to have a conversation with friends.

Friendly service, clean restaurant with great lighting, and the food was made fresh to order. Easy parking. Did I mention the food is DELICIOUS!!!

I am not one to review a place twice buuuut I did try another location and it was amazing again. The location next to Market District in Carmel is the perfect location, phenomenal fast and friendly service and as usual delicious food. If you haven't tried Slapfish you are doing yourself a disservice. Wonderful atmosphere to enjoy great food. ‍ What more can you ask for?

This is hands down the best place to get seafood. The food is awesome, love the fish n chips, tasty coleslaw and the BEST customer service! All that at a reasonable price!!!

Fresh, amazing food with more space than their carmel location. Sarah (our server) was sooo amazing and kind and welcoming! Nothing negative to say! We got the poke + chips, lobster taquitos and side fries....chef's kiss!

    Happy customers and outstanding food.

We sat at a high top table in the bar. Our server, Bailey (the bartender), was friendly and super attentive. She made recommendations and kept glasses filled. The craft beer selection is excellent with about 16 local options on tap. My husband had a Fall City "Hipster Repellent". The name alone is interesting, but he loved his beer. I had the Espresso Martini which came with roasted coffee beans floating on top. My cocktail went down easy. I also had a glass of the Berringer Chardonnay. The pour is generous. We shared a plate of Loaded Tots, which was wonderful. The tots are made from scratch in-house and covered with roasted bits of pork belly, cheese, a sauce and green onions. We LOVED the tots, which came out super hot. We also shared a plate of the Loaded Hummus. The plate is beautiful and colorful. The hummus is fresh made and loaded with bits of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and is delicious on a balsamic reduction. The hummus is served with a generous portion of fresh in-house made focaccia bread which tasted amazing. The Loaded Hummus is a winner in my book. Bailey our server was fabulous. She worked the entire bar and was an ambassador of the chef and menu. I wish we had time to stay for dinner because the food is outstanding. Each dish that we saw pass by looked delicious and artistic. I highly recommend. We will be returning for dinner soon. Easy 5 stars! We found street parking, but parking was limited.

I always order the Cuban when a new restaurant has one on the menu, and Big Lug's did not disappoint. It was juicy, flavorful, and one of the better Cubans I've had in a while. On my second visit, I went with the blackened cod tacos on corn tortillas (you can also get flour tortillas, and they offer shrimp and breaded fish options). They were fresh, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious. Both visits I ordered the spicy garlic cauliflower, and it was outstanding. The homemade blue cheese dressing took it to another level. If you're on the fence about ordering it, don't be--it was one of my favorite things on the menu. The outdoor walk-up bar creates a really cool, laid-back atmosphere, making it a great place to relax whether you're meeting friends or just enjoying a meal by yourself. The staff was friendly, the service was excellent, and both meals came out quickly. I don't usually eat at the same restaurant twice on a trip, but Big Lug earned it. We sat right in the middle of the main thoroughfare and were completely ignored for at least 15 minutes before we finally flagged someone down. The guy, "H," apologized and said, "Oh, my bad--it's all good." We figured, no big deal, let's move on. We ordered pretty simple food, apps and were then going to put in some entrees once apps arrived. We asked for waters and a water bowl for our pups. He brought two waters--with no straws--and no dog bowl. We assumed he was going to grab the bowl, so we waited... and waited. Then I noticed him at the end of the bar leaning against some boxes, texting. So I finally got up, interrupted him and asked for the dog bowl. His response, "oh my bad." Our appetizers came out, and naturally, we asked for silverware. A few minutes later, I spotted "H" in the corner on his phone again. At that point I was thinking, seriously?! So I got up again, interrupted "H's" text convo and asked for silverware. His response again was, "Oh, my bad." I didn't respond to him I just turned around and went back to my seat. Honestly, the whole experience started feeling more like a self-serve restaurant than table service. It's a chill spot and we weren't being needy whatsoever. We never asked for any refills- we were merely asking for the basics. We wanted to order more food, but by that point we were pretty turned off and decided to just get the check. Then came the final straw: my guy had his license and credit card sitting on the table because he hadn't brought his wallet out for our monon trek. When "H" came back with the checkout thing, without question or hesitation - he grabbed the card and swiped it. We didn't even realize what happened until afterward. Maybe that's standard there, but I've never had a server just take my card without asking. Usually you get a "hey do we want to use this card? Or something to confirm. And of course the tip structure is skewed so the min is 20% unless you want to try to figure out to manually enter in 15% (which most ppl don't -incl my guy), so we left 20% and left irritated and still hungry. "H" didn't seem hungover or anything--he just genuinely seemed like he did not not give a shiiiit. We had to get up three separate times to get things we had already requested: the dog bowl, a couple straws, and silverware. (Basics) And a quick note on the 7-Layer Hoss Dip: don't expect seven layers. It comes in a small thick ceramic bowl and was basically beans, guacamole, a tiny bit of corn and some hard cheese on top. Definitely would not recommend it. Way too "beany" and not worth $16 at all. The southwest rolls were decent- very fried tho. Cheesecake Factory's are better ;) The location and dog-friendly atmosphere are great, with the exception of the homeless camp right at their patio entrance, but unfortunately, the service really took away from the experience. Hopefully this was just an off night, because Big Lug has a lot going for it.
