Really disappointing experience--I came in to have my shoulder length hair trimmed and my stylist didn't even offer to shampoo me. She just immediately started squirting me with a spray bottle and yanking a comb through my curls. Then the layers she recommended wound up being a blunt ledge which made my fine hair look even thinner and more straggly at the ends. Insult to injury, the cut is uneven in the back and the stylist argued with me over my request to fix it. After going back and forth several times with her trying to convince me that it was good enough, I finally left fighting back tears in frustration. Now I have a weird section that sticks out by two inches on the left that I have to find someone else to fix. Fml. read more

I made a super last minute appointment to get my hair dyed back to my natural hair color, since my roots were pretty grown out. I also wanted a trim, since my hair was starting to feel frizzy at the ends. When I sat down, they brought out the book and asked me to match the color I wanted to the sample they had. I picked the lighter one of the two they suggested, since as my hair grows out, it becomes much lighter than my roots. Both the stylist coloring my hair and another stylist insisted on the darker color. Who was I to know? I thought that with my already dyed hair, it would mix and return to my natural hair color. After the washing, I was a bit shocked at how dark it was. I thought it would lighten after a couple more washes, but it's still black. I'm beyond disappointed. My hair has never been this dark in my life. I also feel like my haircut doesn't suit me. It's cut at such an awkward layered angle and doesn't flatter my face. It's going to take me forever to grow my natural hair color back. At least the color I had before suited me, and now I look so weird. I'm so upset. I had such high hopes for this place from the reviews, but 180 dollars later, I only feel resentment and ripped off. I was thinking about trying a new place for a haircut and landed upon Sleek. I was very hesitant since finding a new salon can be a daunting task. Made an appointment a week prior thinking it would be a busy Sunday. I walked in around 12:30pm and it was not too crowded. So after my one star review Kelly sent me a PM to apologize. I called her and explained my horrifying experience at her salon, I told her that her employee was cutting my hair and looking to the side and not at my hair. Blindly cutting is NEVER ok. I went back the other day to get my refund and Kelly was nice enough to honor the offer she made me. She also asked that I remove my one star review. After some careful thinking I opted to keep my original review and simply give her another star because she did right by her business and the rules of customer service but ethically I can't remove my original comment. After my original post I received multiple messages from people telling me about their hair experiences at Sleek and one really struck a chord, this woman said she was there a couple days before I went and had she posted about her poor service she may have prevented me from my hack job. I can't have another person receive a subpar hair cut because there aren't enough negative reviews. I have to be honest in my reviews and I honestly would never go back to get my hair cut or colored. I planned to go back yesterday to get my hair styled for a party but I was super busy and didn't have a chance. This place was quite hard to find. The yelp address does not even match this location. I roam around this area a good amount of time until I found this salon. This location is across from Raley's and next to USbank. I came here Sunday afternoon, walked in without any appointment and asked if they would color my hair and stuff. At the time, I had a copper tone color ombre which I didn't like. I wanted a ashtone color, they told me it would be really hard to get since my hair is so dark. They agreed to do my hair, and said they would try to achieve the color I wanted. The process of them bleaching/dying my hair took over 4 hours. I forgot the person who did my hair, but she kept getting bleach on my face and it burned a lot. She tried wiping the bleach off my face but the towel had bleach too which made it worst. Ahhh! That was the only downside during my time here. Afterward, she put dye in my hair, waited 15 minutes and washed it off. The results came out great, just the way I wanted. It was number 7 ashtone color. Initially, I wanted a ashtone ombre not my whole head dyed. I guess the lady messed up, but I didn't mind. It has been 1-2 weeks and my hair is no longer ash color, more like light brown. I wished they gave me some tips on how to maintain my hair, I had to look online myself. Overall, my experience was okay, I had better. I sat there for 4 hours, and they didn't even ask me if I wanted water or anything... I guess they don't offer that. Kinda upset. read more

Here goes my first Yelp review ever: I'm a busy working career driven mother/wife that does not have much time for myself much less mistakes on my hair when I make the time to get it done. After reading positive reviews here and seeing pictures of what I wanted on their Yelp page (natural balayage ombre highlights), I decided to give it a try. I am not going to lie... I was nervous, as I do not trust just anyone with my hair but when I called Sleek Salon, they had availability the very next day (a Monday evening) at a time that worked for me. Granted I am not one to get my hair done often as it is hard for me to make time with two kids, a hubby, full time work and school but when I do get it done, I make sure its with the right person. So I arrived and Kelly immediately greeted me and was already ready for me to sit and get right to work. She was professional, pleasant, sociable and just had an overall great vibe. Kelly first layered my hair and then started my balayage highlights. She used cream instead of bleach in efforts of not damaging my hair with too much chemical given my request (I showed her a pic of what I wanted) and she did it! I got the natural sun-kissed balayage highlights I wanted for the fall look (not too blonde but just enough caramel color). Also, Kelly gave me the BEST shampoo/head massage ever. I feel like I just discovered Fremont's best kept secret and can't wait to tell all of my friends and family about her. Im not one to write bad reviews and even writing this one makes me feel really bad-- but I came here to get a simple manicure. As a preschool teacher, I constantly have to wash my hands and lotion isnt always accessible, as a result my hands are really dry and my cuticles are dry too. The lady who did my nails was rushing throughout the whole process and was cleaning my nails haphazardly. She was also SO rough and cut deep into my cuticles that my skin started bleeding. She literally cleaned my nails for almost 15 minutes and gave me the impression that she wanted to be done doing my nails. I kept staring at one hand she finished doing because I KNEW it wasnt clean or even done which seemed to make her nervous so she said she'll clean it one more time./ Im disappointed because I normally get my nails done at a place in San Jose and despite my ugly nails and dry cuticles, my cuticles/skin has never bled AND I always walk away knowing my nails are clean and I feel great. Ive always received good customer service but the customer service at this place tonight was horrible. I've been searching & searching for a hair salon that does medium-superior work for a decent price & I gotta say this place will definitely keep me coming back! My friend recommended me to this salon after I've seen all the amazing hair pictures my friend has been posting on her Facebook, & I just HAD to have her layers! They were gorgeous! When I walked in with washed hair, tied up, messily in a bun, Kelly already acknowledged me with a welcoming smile while she was finishing her transaction with another customer. The salon was quite spacious with huge modern looking mirrors facing the salon chairs, which I loved about it! The only thing that bugged me was how warm it was inside even with the entrance door open! Maybe their A/C was broken? But even then, Kelly kept it casual & friendly with the conversations which is probably why the heat didn't bother me so much. The salon's phone rang twice before she started working on my hair & Kelly had to answer, but I didn't mind... I wasn't in a rush to go anywhere. Before she started, I told her I wanted basically the same layers as my friend & even showed her, her picture. I haven't had a trim/cut in 5 months & my hair was super dry & somewhat damaged at the end, so she asked me how much would I like to trim off & told me how much she would be trimming off for "dramatic layers", which I liked because at most Asian salons that I've been to, I'll tell them what I want & they'll just go in and start trimming like crazy without getting my approval if I thought it was too much or too little. She always made sure! I told her I had side-swept bangs & she trimmed it just right! My friend posted a pic of her curled hair after she had her hair done by Kelly 2-3 days before I went, & I asked Kelly how would I curl my hair like that since I forgot how to curl or probably lost patience with styling my hair. She was nice enough to curl my hair after my trim & even demonstrated how to curl with a flat iron! She made it look so effortless! At the end, I was in love with how my hair looked! I finally went back to sleek salon since pandemic happened and was so happy to see Kelly! She accommodated me with same day appt as she has always in the past. She did a touch up color and trim. I need hypoallergenic hair dye and she has that for me, which some of the higher end salons did not have. Everything was perfect! I felt very safe there with dividers between the chairs and I was the only person there in the salon. Everyone was masked. Prices are very affordable and quality is as good as any high end salon. I have gone to all the high end, pricey salons in the area and outside and I can say Kelly is awesome and with my busy schedule, convenience of getting in when I want and not hassling about being 5 minutes late is exactly what I want. This review is for highlights done by Sophia. I walked in on a Monday morning based on yelp reviews. Sophia was available and we spent some time discussing what I wanted. The swatch book did nothing for me as I couldn't envision how the 1 inch hair pieces will look on me. I went to my phone to search pictures describing what I wanted and after going back and forth a bit, she pulled up a picture on her phone and I said 'yes!'. I think a successful result is a big part based on communicating what you want because she can't read your mind based on knowing you for 30 seconds. I felt like I was in capable hands from the way she neatly and tightly places the foils. I have grey/white roots and had been coloring my own hair so it needed an overall color correction as well. Most places were quoting me 3-4 hours because of the 2 step 2 wash process. Sophia did it all in one step. She spent almost an hour doing the foils (I have a lot of hair medium length), then she did the darker color around the foils. Total time 2.5 hours no cut. Love the end result! read more

Never going here again. My hair is naturally jet black. I asked for a red ombre so I knew I needed to bleach my hair. He didn't even use bleach. I told him my hair won't hold color but he said bleach was in the color mixture which I knew wouldn't work. I dye my hair at home sometimes and the way I do it just at the base of my neck. I'm not a professional but I know if you bleach the rest of the hair, and you reapply bleach as necessary, the color will hold with the desired shade. The only reason I went here is for an ombre/professional look. What I got is worse then what I could have done on my own! Next time I go somewhere I'm just going to ask for a bleach,I think that's what you ask for? They close at seven so if they couldn't finish today I would have come in tomorrow but instead they rushed. Two people blow dried my hair and the guy was constantly hitting me in the head with the brush he was using. My hair looks frizzy and dry with terrible coloring. I got my hair cut and colored here yesterday. $20 for the haircut (my hair was below my hips) and $160 for a black to gray ombré color. Sofia cut my hair. I told her I wanted to cut about 4 inches off and that's exactly what she did unlike other salons I have been to who would cut more than I tell them to. Afterwards, Sofia and Kelly colored my hair. They were very nice and patient considering it took about 7hrs to finish everything. At first, I didn't like how the color turned out in my hair because it looked like it was just a blonde ombré with random patches of gray. I'm usually shy and wouldn't say anything about it but Sofia asked me if I was okay with my hair or if I would like her to make the gray darker.
