What disturbed me was first windows cloudy and dirty. Second the iced tea bins were so filthy and nasty they look like they haven't been washed for a week. Tried slim chickens a couple weeks ago during the snow stark and had the chicken tenders, they were good and had some pepper for flavor. We finally decided to go back and try it again last night. We got the chicken sandwich combo which was delicious. It's not too big or a small but it will fill you up with the fries. We also tried the chicken n waffles which was really good as well. We first had Slims in Texarkana and loved it. We were excited to get one in Helotes. They started out great with great customer service and delicious food but have gone down to the point that I would rather go elsewhere because they do not seem to care about the customer. The wait time is ridiculous to get your food and they do not give you enough salad dressing or sauces for your meals. You now have to purchase additional ones. Also their meal sizes are getting smaller. Considering their prices you should be able to get enough sauces for your meals without having to pay for additional ones. I hope things will get better because we really like the food, but with high prices and bad service we will wait a while before going back. read more

First, I read a few reviews talking about how long it took for their order. We waited 8 minutes for our food. And it was fresh! The prices are pretty fair. The chicken tenders are good, just a slight notch below the familiar Canes chicken. The chicken sandwich is decent. However, I wouldn't order that again. The fries were good also, nothing spectacular. Tried the slims sauce and gravy. The slims sauce makes your taste buds curious to keep dipping. Then you'll realize it's not quite Cane's sauce. Solid four star! 5 stars if compared to only other faster food like restaurants. Good price point, clean and service with a smile....one minor point is a need for higher quality blue cheese sauce for the wings please. I ordered a 3 and 3 and because I had an errand to run, I opted to not get fries but potato salad instead because no one likes cold fries. I ordered bleu cheese for the wings and I had forgotten to request Slim's sauce for the tenders but when I asked for at the window, I was told that he'd put some in there. Sweet right? So, imagine how disappointed I was when I got home to find no Slim's sauce and cold fries. My observations, checkin out the new 'chick' in town: Strip breading is a little peppery Some kinda season salt on the fries.. it's not unpleasant, it's just...saltier than I expected? The standard sauce is kinda on the sweet side The toast has a little garlic zing to it! Tea variety! Salad offerings! Chicken and waffles! Cute mason jar desserts! Super nice folks working the place! I haven't yet tried the wings. The strips are A-OK. They don't rock my world like Cane's strips, and I didn't find the sauce that hit me in my sweet spot: maybe gravy is the way to go at Slim's, with the peppery breading? Nice, clean restaurant. The cashiers/order takers seem a little shy and are hard to hear though. Especially if this is your first time here and don't understand how things work. I only had a salad so I can't honestly rate the chicken tenders, but I did like the concept of being able to order 3 tenders and 3 wings with a drink and a side. You can even do a 5 and 5 deal. They have at least 4 or 5 different sides to choose from and multiple sauces to choose from, so this is definitely an advantage over Raisin' Cane's which I think only has one side and only one dipping sauce. After reading the other reviews on yelp I wanted to check out this place for myself and I'm happy to share that it was great! The ambience of this restaurant is akin to a modern barn with an outdoor patio, wooden tables and TVs playing sports. It's simple inside with self-service drinks and counter service for ordering. My boyfriend tried the 5x5 with buffalo wings and fried tenders, while I opted for the 3x3 with Korean BBQ wings and grilled tenders. All of the combo meals come with Texas toast, fries, a drink and your choice of sauce. I sampled the slim sauce and cayenne ranch and they were both good. If you like spicy the sriracha garlic is worth a try. The Korean BBQ sauce was very good and probably the best thing I tried. My boyfriend was pleased with his meal as well. The food came out hot and fresh, and I like that they offer grilled tenders in addition to fried. The service here is great! Becca handled our transaction at the counter and then came by during our meal to check on us and offer samples of the other sauces. When the food came out, I thought they brought the wrong order but nope. Some genius decided to half the size of their fried pickles. Got a very small order for $5. Rip. Off. The chicken was not the same quality either. It was chewy, saturated in grease and my husband found a lovely hair atop one of his tenders. Surprised they didn't try charging extra for the hair! The amount of fries that you got before is about half to what they are serving now. Also the tables were dirty. We cleaned our own. Not sure what changed or who changed things at Slim Chickens but you lost my family's business. I'll take my $40 and spend it somewhere that isn't trying to cheap out on their customers. Out of all of the chicken tender restaurants, I'd have to say these are the best. My tenders were meaty and moist on the inside, with a light breading coating them on the outside. The slim sauce was ok, it is a sweet tomato based sauce. I preferred the ranch sauce. The tenders came with Texas roast that had a slight garlic taste which was really good. It also came with fries that were thin and crisp. Everything was served hot. I also tried the fried pickles. They were so good, I would make a trip here just for the pickles. The breading was seasoned well and the pickles were salty good. A rogue fried mushroom made its way into the basket and it was also very good. I continued on like a trooper to dessert. The strawberry shortcake was served in a mason jar. Delicious. The strawberries were sweet and fresh. Loved it. Can't wait to try the chocolate brownie dessert. read more

Also, the employees are less friendly and seem too busy to help rectify food issues. Yesterday was our final visit. Original review: The place was packed! Our meals took about 25 minutes during the dinner rush which we allotted for since the Drive-Thru was also wrapped around the building. I'm sure this won't we the norm after the newness has settled. The menu has ample items: tenders, wings, salads, wraps, etc. The sign/menu say they have "sandwiches" (plural) but there is only a Cayenne Ranch sandwich on the menu... wondering if you can order it different ways? The food is good. Our favorites were the French fries (super) and the macaroni and cheese. The chicken tenders were good but similar to other places in town. I ordered the barbecue chicken wrap and they forgot to put the shredded cheddar cheese in it. When the manager came to check on our table, I mentioned this to him and he immediately offered to correct it. He went above and beyond to make us happy and even brought us a free dessert! I really want to love Slim's....I really do, because they have a great variety of sauces and they offer salads and wraps unlike boring Cane's. Their inferno sauce is legit and so many others to choose from. On the downbad, the tenders are pretty tiny, but the real kicker is the wait time. I truly appreciate them being open during COVID, but there have more than one occasion where we are the only people in there and food consistently takes over 30 minutes. Last time in around 2pm, we were informed that they were out of fries, salads, wraps, sandwiches, Cole slaw, fried pickles, okra, and a few others. BUT, they did have chicken tenders and waffles....nothing else, which kinda kills my earlier praise that they offer much more than Cane's. Prices are good, and O'Connor kids working there do their best, but there has to be a more efficient way. I like how big the place is with TVs everywhere and place to dine outside. The food was good, not spectacular but not gross either. The chicken was fried perfectly, it a cross between Raising Canes and Chick-Fil-A as far as taste and how it's fried (possible in a pressure cooker). I went with Garlic Parmesan dipping sauce which was weird, didn't taste like garlic or Parmesan. They need to take that one back to lab and try again, so I just used ketchup. The mac and cheese was superb, thick and cheesy, I wasn't expecting that from a semi-fast food joint. The Texas toast was just ehhhh, maybe more toasted and buttery would have been better. The strips were fairly small and the wings my BF ordered look like Cornish Hen wings, they were tiny. The prices were kind of high for the size of the chicken they're selling. I would go out of my way to go here but if I were in the area I would return and try another sauce and side, but still get the Mac and cheese because it was so good good. read more

However, today on this Thursday, some stubborn chubby Burnet guy was in a terrible mood to come to work. I understand that people have there days but this is the second time Iv had an encounter with the young man with terrible service. I tried to call ahead, and I only had cash on me. He stated on the phone I had no choice but to order online when Iv never had this issue before. I order here often because I work right next door. So I kindly mentioned I only had cash and hung up on me. I called again, straight to voicemail. I walked next door and he rolled his eyes as soon as I walked in, mind u the store was not busy at all.
