This is a decent place to eat for chicken lovers. I fell in love with the style and decoration, really nice place and customer service was good. I got the chicken sandwich which was good and fries were amazing. My significant one got 3&3 meal (3 wings, 3 chicken tenders) and was a little bit disappointed. Wings did not taste fresh and tenders were really salty. She also loved the fries and the sauce variety. Just finished up our first taste of Slim Chickens in Schertz on FM3009. (I'll just up front say why I finished the meal .. I'm a T1 diabetic & had already taken insulin so I was on "the clock". Meaning regardless of how it tastes..gotta hork it down however it may be) . We ordered the regular cripsy chicken sandwich ($4.99) and the Buffalo Crispy chicken sandwich ($5.99) along with a side of Fried Mushrooms that we split for our first try. I know that they just recently opened up, so I will try back in a month, but was not impressed. Everything...and I mean everything...was overseasoned.. My wife just handed me her halves and then went to find something to get the salty taste of it out of her mouth. My first bite of the mushroom I snuck before handing her I stifled an "oh sh*t" to avoid influencing her. (Just in case my tastebuds were off-it happens) The breading on everything was so salty that it left your mouth having a bitter flavor. (again I would have taken it back if I had't already injected insulin). Now I have had Bush's Chicken a time or two that has been slightly overseasoned (which was the complete opposite of Canes.. no seasoning whatsoever)ut never like this. But before the oversalting took over our pallets the barest hint of goodness poked through. That is the most positive thing I can say about it...every restaurant has a bad day..it happens. The greatest positives that can be said were, the restaurant was very clean, smelled nice, and the staff was super friendly and efficient despite being busy. I really hope this was a fluke. The 'shrooms ($5.49) were ehhh okay but overseasoned by far as well... (salt lick if we're honest). All in all for a first try, if I could give them a half star I would, it did NOT represent good value for the money when there are better competitors out there. If this review stays this negative or non updated by march or aprils of 2023 it would mean that our second trip showed no real changes. read more

Since the Katy location was still in training at the time of my visit, I was given incorrect info on ordering meals - you CAN just order a meal without a drink. I discovered this place one night when I was out with my son looking for dinner. I must say it's some of the best chicken I have ever had. The chicken is very lightly breaded which suits me just fine and it is always fresh and hot. I love the choices of dipping sauce and the jar desserts are decadent and to die for. My service has always been impeccable and I would highly recommend going there. Don't forget to try the chicken and waffles it's awesome. we live out of town and was checking in at the hotel next door. Well aware of any people or traffic near. Wasn't even there 1 minute with nobody in view of coming thru the drive thru when the fat manager told us very rudely we couldn't stand there and we were actually walking away. We both couldn't go into the restaurant and our phones were acting up so we couldn't look up the menu(we tried it on our phones before we very quickly glanced at the drive thru menu). The tenders are tossed in a sauce after frying which leaves you with wet chicken. If you opt for the meal, count your fries as mashed potatoes because the wet chick and left over sauce is poured in the container which causes the thin cut fries to become wet and ughhh! Typically, people cannot go wrong with fried pickles. Well, Slim Chickens did. Pickles are already salted but to batter them with a seasoned batter makes the experience of eating the them not worth it. I ordered $50 of food and my hubby and son typically eat what I don't finish. We threw away much of the food last night and no one wanted anything from anyone. Usually, the chances are slim I will return to a good establishment when the food is not great but here is no chance I will ever go here. Stick to Wing Stop, Cane's or Zaxby. I got the 3x3, three wings and three tenders, I subbed friend pickles for the fries, because...duh. I was asked what wing sauce I wanted and I asked for Hot. I got my three tiny tenders and realized that they are not seasoned with the wing sauce...bummer! My three chicken wings were so tiny...what happened? These took about half a bite each to finish off, and hot!? It could have been called mild-maybe flavor and I would have been skeptical. Lame. The fried pickles were so salty (and I don't mind salt) that they were not good. Too thin to get crispy and the batter was okay, the yere so thin it was mostly super salty fried batter with a hint of pickle. The sweat tea was again too mild and just okay. The inside was nice, big booths, long tables, nice and bright, tons of paper towels and some TVs scattered around playing sports. I don't know...just bummed me out. I guess my consolation is that it cost me about $12 for disappointment and it could have been more. The wings should be far bigger. The sauce should be more flavorful/spicy. The fried pickles should be thicker and the batter less salty. The chicken tenders should be sauced (or offered as an option at the time of order). The sweat tea should be sweeter. First time trying this place and found it pretty good. Place was fairly busy but got our food fairly quick. I got the 3 piece chicken meal which was pretty filling even though the pieces of chicken were small. I also enjoyed the fries and the way they season them. The prices can seem pretty expensive compared to the size of the meal but it tasted very Good.on Wednesdays they have a $5.99 deal if your wanting to try the chicken and waffles. It's not what I thought going into it,but I did want to check it out. I got the chicken and waffles, fried pickles, others got a chicken salad, and I forget what else. Now I was ok with my chicken and waffles on a paper plate. I could tell the waffles were a step up from the Hampton inn waffles you make when you schlep down to the breakfast area in the mornings. It had 2 chicken tenders on top, syrup already pored over it, had to order another side at the counter. Nothing to wow me but nothing to complain about either. You just have to know going in that it is a order at the counter and wait at your table for it to come. I didn't realize this myself. It's also a sort of "Fuddruckers"kind of place in the sense that it's a step above fast food. I would go back if ever in the mood for this, I just didn't realize it going into it. Sort of a longer wait than I would expect. Maybe.still working out the kinks since it's relatively new. Service was a bit on the slower side-made to order,so there you go. You could see the servers walking around looking lost even though we had table numbers. Send they forget to look at that and walked around aimlessly looking for the rightful owners of their food. We decided to give it a try again, today, May 14, we ordered online around 745pm, decided to eat in. We ordered 3 chicken and waffles, 2 grilled chicken with bbq and honey bbq, and one fried with no sauce, a couple of appetizers(fried okra and salad). Okra and salad arrived, cashier was ok, he asked if we wanted sauce and all. Then he gave us 3 waffles and 3 baskets of tenders. All with sauce, we returned and explained it, then he gave us the grilled tenders(cold, because they only sauced it). Then cashier went back and explained that we needed to pay for it. Slim chickens is so yummy and the breaded chicken definitely beats another location that I used to love. The variation of options for a wrap and salad are very welcomed here in our neck of the woods. This place is disgusting. First of all I went to the restaurant at 2:30pm this afternoon and the lady at the counter was so rude when I came to pickup my order. I told her I am here to pickup an order and she kept yelling pickup order and screaming at me. Terrible customer service first of all. I got home and the food is terrible. The wings are so dry and hard to chew not anything I would recommend or eat again. I got the 3 and 3. The tenders are disgusting as well and were cold like they came directly out of the fridge. They had no flavor and the spicy bbq wings have no flavor it is disappointing to even call it spicy. It was so so bland. The only thing that was decent was the Mac and cheese but nothing to brag about. I support local businesses but this place needs improvement and a change in customer service. The bbq sauce is good but the cayenne ranch does not even seem to have cayenne. I would not eat here again and recommend you should not either. This is my first time trying out this restaurant from seeing an ad on Youtube. I also heard from some friends that, apparently, this place was better than Chick fi la AND Raising Cane's, places that I really enjoy so my expectations were pretty high. So I bought the Hungry Plate with the Slim's Sauce, the Chicken and Waffle, Fried Pickles, and the Brownie Jar Dessert. The tenders were a bit too salty for my taste but were still bearable. The fries were also a little bit too salty as well. The Slim's sauce felt more a mix of cayenne, little ketchup, and a lot of ketchup (please don't take my word for it, I'm not an expert!). The fried pickles were also, you guessed it, salty but I kinda put it off since they were fried and pickles so I didn't really have any expectations for that. The brownie dessert was like I expected: brownie and chocolate and whipped cream! The jar was really nice since it had the Slim's Chicken logo embedded into it but it is not a mason jar for some that are wondering. The chicken and waffles were my favorite part because I was trying to isolate taste. The Texas-shaped waffles were better than I expected, coming with a side of syrup and butter, I thought like other restaurants having waffles that it would be rubbery and bland but it was actually pretty decent and with the sweet and salty taste of the chicken and waffle it was a nice match. Last but not least, the employees didn't really greet us other than the cashier/ server but I didn't really think much of it since it was kind of busy. The environment, inside and out, was really clean and felt welcoming in my opinion. The service was pretty fast and they have wifi! All in all, Slim's Chicken was a nice surprise from the other chicken restaurants I usually go to, especially with their variety of dishes.
