Cutest sloth-themed coffee shop I have ever seen! Actually the only one I have ever seen, but this place definitely exceeded my expectations and is one of my new top faves. I felt so giddy being here with how warm and cozy it was, how friendly the employees were, and how gosh darn cute all the sloth decorations were. I told the cashier that the shop reminded me of the movie with the rabbit cop and the sloth at the DMV and we figured out the name of the movie together (Zootopia). He said someone had brought in a sloth figurine and brought it down from display to show me. When I went up later to the counter to take a picture of my coffee, he brought me the same sloth figurine and also a huge thumbs up statue to be in the background. I couldn't quite capture the aqua blue neon sign in the background, but it says "I'm a slowpoke". The coffee here is good and I would probably add a flavor to my latte next time. The sleeve that comes with the to-go cups are soo adorable and did everything to add to my happiness that day. read more

I mean it's literally a coffee shop that is sloth themed, what more can I say? Actually despite the abundance of sloth aesthetics, Slowpokes is a "slow" theme, as you can tell with the 3 slow characters portrayed on a nice portrait on their wall. A sloth, turtle, and snail. They have names but I forget it! Since I live inside the loop, I rarely venture out, besides to Chinatown, but definitely rarely up north. Found this place on yelp when my SO and I wanted a new coffee shop to study at. Seeing the pictures definitely piqued my interest and needless to say, I am not disappointed. Upon our first visit, we were actually greeted by one of the owners who was working up front. He was really friendly and explained to us when they opened, and other matters pertaining such as that apparently they used to have a dog park but recently were instructed to convert it to a parking lot as per the landlord's request... apparently you can read about it on their Facebook page, he mentions. Anyways I ordered my regular, just a regular latte. I've been back a few times and tried different drinks, including their special "Reese's Mocha Latte." It was a delicious sugary concoction, you barely taste a hint of peanut butter, which I liked since I'm not a huge peanut butter fan. The best latte art I've had was on this drink, made by a redhead that works there, I highly recommend her! My SO orders his usual soy chai latte and he likes it a lot. As for one of the most important parts, atmosphere, I would say depending on when you come, is usually a good study location! First, they have plenty of seating, a few community tables and some booths. Note that the booths are the only areas that have outlets, as well as the bar. Surprisingly my favorite spots to study is either the large community table near the booths or the high tables. Another note, sometimes the AC is constantly on and blowing cold air on you... I noticed that if you sit at the high top tables you avoid this since you're sitting right underneath it. Also, like I mentioned earlier, some days it can be somewhat loud and other days it could be the perfect study environment. If you want that, I would go earlier in the day and definitely before school let's out (3-4 ish). However it's not too loud that you can't block out the noise. Before leaving, make sure you take a quick trip to the bathroom, the hallways and bathrooms are full of fun, sloth related imagery. The only downside is the internet. It's definitely fast enough where I can watch a lecture with no lag, but it kicks you out every hour on the dot... I don't mind it as much since I prefer this over slow internet, but my SO says it has messed up some stuff for him so just be aware of that. Usually their login connection will pop up but if not, just reconnect and it works like normal again. All and all, I've come a few times per week the last couple weeks on weekdays to study and will definitely come back! I'm a slowpoke. read more

Visiting from out of town for the week and stopped in here. They do kind of live up to the name..a little slow but the staff were super friendly and nice. Also only saying this so you make sure you accommodate for time if you are rushing to work that is all. It would definitely not stop me from coming here again. First time there and my partner ate half of the egg and cream cheese bagel, then immediately felt nauseous. I don't know what this place serving but something they're putting out had to be expired or stored improperly. Who serves food that's not to be eaten? We will definitely not return to a place that is comfortable with serving food that's not edible. Very disappointing, a huge waste of money, and now my partner has an upset stomach from their food. Wow this cafe is transforming. I easily walked in for a to-go order but ended up staying to enjoy my holiday cafe treat along with two churro donuts (omg so good with the... apple butter jam?). What was a quick in-and-out has become quite a relaxing experience. I'd recommend their dulce de lucha holiday specialty. Its just right in the amount of sweetness and wenr well with an oatmilk substitute. And who doesn't love a church? Better than that, who doesn't love a churro-donut?! Yummm - all of the sugary flakes in a perfect circle tastefully served with a side of (what I am calling) apple butter jam - Delicious! The name says it all - Slowpokes. I'm mainly a fan of Slowpokes because my dogs are fans. They get to run around in the fenced in area while I work on my laptop, sip delicious coffee and slay like a BOSS. Slowpokes is a great spot for coffee, a light lunch (breakfast items too), snacks (like a cheese plate), beer, wine and some pastries. There is a variety of indoor seating - small booths to read/work privately, tables and a small bar. Outside, you have a large gravel patio and a fenced in grassy area (where my fur babies prefer to hang out). Other pluses include: onsite parking, good Wi-Fi (though it doesn't reach the fenced in grass area), a rewards program, a really friendly staff and good coffee. Small downsides: The fenced in area could use a latch to keep the gate closed. They do generously provide doggy poop bags - thank you! - but there aren't any doggy bowls. So make sure to bring a travel bowl with you. P.S. If you do take advantage of Slowpokes being a dog-friendly establishment, please watch your dog. There are some crevices under the fence and my chihuahua made a run for it when he saw a squirrel. read more

We came in on a Saturday afternoon and immediately were greeted. We took some time too look over the menu and sat at the bar. It's a cute place the size of any other coffee shops (about 4 booths and 4 large tables and the bar). Very chill and calming. We ordered the two empanadas (chicken and beef) and we like the beef one a little more but they were both very good for coffee shop snacks. My chai was AMAZING, it's the drink I usually get at new places because it's hard to really mess up but this one is like top 3 right now for me. My girlfriend got the strawberry lemonade and asked to change it to watermelon because it was pretty watery and not that sweet (both flavors ended up being watery). But it is a coffee shop so i don't expect the fruity drinks to be out of this world. The little cake was about a 3/5, the edges were very dry but the center was moist. You can't really hold that against them because it comes from the bakery in the complex behind them. I love Slowpokes for coffee, food, and vibes. I always get espresso drinks and love the drinks I get (americano, cappuccino, latte) which are always perfect whether hot or cold. They have all the non-dairy milks (me & oat milk; a love story) and are always willing to customize drinks. My partner gets cold brew and says it's fantastic. The food is also really good, the sandwiches, salads, and breakfasts are really tasty. My favorite is the avocado smash toast, yes it's just avocado toast but it's got all the fixings (arugula, tomato, EVOO) and is a great filling breakfast. Lastly, the vibes here are perfect. Lattes are so unique with interesting flavors. I went when they had an ube latte. The lattes aren't overly sweet in my opinion. They have flat breads that are gluten free and perfect for lunch. I have a tried several of their pastries and wish they would make some of their more decadent pastries gluten free! I came here because I was working at a nearby clinic, and didn't know what to expect, but I will be back. It is a cozy coffee shop (+ food + beer/alcohol) that is perfect for either studying or for a chill hangout with friends. They have several booths and several bench-like tables for you to sit at. There is always nice, chill-vibe music tunes in the background. I ordered the flat white and the avocado mash (arugula and grape tomatoes and avocado on sourdough). Both were great portion sizes and very delicious. The staff was friendly and explained the menu very well to me since it was my first time. Lots of sloths around the place (hence slowpokes). I went out to try a different place, but it had not yet opened for business, so I went down a block an came in here. Food menu is brief, but has good flavor options. I had the breakfast Taco; because I adore breakfast tacos. At the $4 price tag, even though it was fresh made, it is overpriced. Don't spend the extra .50 cents of the avocado, you get one sad, green (not ripe) little slice. The corn tortilla normal size, but was cooler in temperature than the room. Who taught you to make a breakfast taco with a cold tortilla? Who? Eggs,overcooked. Bacon was good? something on the taco had a nearing expiration taste. I ate so fast I couldn't discern which ingredient. The Churro Donut was good, soft in most places, the warmer they used had a hot spot and one of the donuts had a hard spot where it felt and tasted like an over microwaved bread, It is very heavy on the Sugar and Cinnamon,coating and as it sat (not long) it became heavy with grease settling. I didn't care for the apple butter, it just didn't meld with the donut texture. The service was very friendly and helpful. Here again you have the self service water canister with lukewarm water, and tiny cups. At least it was filtered. The temperature inside was so warm, it bordered on hot. Based on the star rating, I decided to try this coffee shop. Very disappointed. To start with, they lived up to their name. It took 10-15 minutes for a latte. They forgot that I had also ordered a chocolate croissant. I had to remind them, then ask them to warm it. When it came back, it was only slightly warmer than before. Secondly, the latte had cooled by the time I got it (when it came out 10-15 minutes after the order, they called for Layla, not my name, so it sat there even longer). I asked them to warm it up. The guy seemed to be bothered by my request, but then went and did something to it. When I got it back, it tasted burned and it was 1/3 foam. I politely asked for a refund stating it just wasn't any good. I got a refund, but not once was there any indication of an apology or anything to make me feel valued as a customer. Won't be returning. *Edit: They also require a check # and Total from your receipt in order to access internet. Had I opted for no receipt, as I typically do, I would not have had that information. I found my receipt in my email, but the check # and total didn't work when I attempted to access their wifi. So a slow coffee shop with burned coffee and no internet was a good start to my day. Nice newish coffee spot with some bakery items and food choices in the GOOF. Their theme is slowpokes, or slow animals, as in the slowest 3 animals in the animal kngdom, the snail, sloth and turtle. There is artwork, newspaper clippings and pretty much everything with these animals on the walls and such. Each is a master of their own, 1) coffee and foods, 2) wine and 3) beer. I tried the iced latte with almond milk and a couch potato cookie since I had just come from dinner. It really hit the spot and the cookie was surprisingly unique. Any place that allows me to bring my best friend is already a favorite for me. The baristas are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and creative! How I'm so pleased by such a small cup of coffee is beyond me. Not only is the flavor pleasing for my palette, every hot latte I've received comes with a free piece of art drawn into it! While I'm not a coffee connoisseur by any means, I've been told by avid coffee lovers that if you reach the bottom of your cup and the drawing remains in tact, the barista is basically a god. I went to a photo experience near by and I love to hit up new ( to me ) coffee shops. Im never in the area so the time to go was now. This could be easily missed. It is in a shopping plaza that is very runned down. The place is simple and sweet. Great staff. I ordered the norm vanilla latte & I got the salmon bagel. Wow the bagel is fire! Loveeee LOVE! This was fresh and simple with great flavor. Kudos to the salmon bagel! Latte was simple and delicious. Everyone seemed very friendly and open to interacting to others. Such a cute cafe! I heard a lot about this cafe from my coworkers and I was excited to try their lavender latte. The lavender fragrance was the strongest among the ones I tried before and it was great. I really liked the pictures up on the wall and they give a very relaxing ambience.
