We were Looking for a restaurant that cooked with local ingredients. Found this place on Yelp and decided to try it. We didn't realize how small the restaurant was until we arrived. There were picnic table outside for dinning as well. We must have just missed the dinner rush since we found a place to sit inside. There was only one server working. The specials looked delicious but my mind was set on the venison. We had the mussels which were in this savory broth that we couldn't get enough of. They gave you their homemade bread which looks like a doughboy without the confectionary sugar on top to suck up the broth. That alone was a meal. I had the venison with the house mac & cheese & coleslaw. You would have never know you were eating venison. Not at all gamy or tough. It was seared perfectly. They don't serve alcohol but it is a BOYB. We did wait a while to eat since everything is served fresh and to order. So don't expect to be in & out. Just relax and enjoy the atmosphere. No pretentions here. Definitely diner vibes in that the decor is plain, the tables and chairs typical of a diner. But gosh, the food is unusual and tasty. They have menu items that have a Native American spin on them. i've gone there twice and had the Sly Fox Benedict each time. It's comprised of two poached eggs served over Chef Sherry's corn cakes, venison sausage, and hollandaise sauce. The venison sausage and corn cakes make an old standby breakfast a little more interesting. have not had lunch or dinner here yet. read more

Don't understand the James Beard award/hype, but the breakfast and lunch were very good with some generous twists like frybread and venison. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Worth trying, especially if you're down in Charlestown or at the beach in South County. read more

We are camping for the weekend in the area and decided to eat dinner out. Looking for something health, we found the Sly Fox Den Too on Yelp. It was delicious and friendly! We both had spinach salads, him with smoked salmon and me with chicken. Complimentary fry bread to start was so tasty! We finished off with a shared dessert of pumpkin pecan bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I couldn't wait to get back to camp and write a review. Wow! Truly excellent. Went on a Saturday at 5 pm to beat V-Day crowd. We both had the steaks, garlicky beans. My steak came with something I've never tried called "Hennessey" sauce, which was a home run. Portions were large, and the dessert, "Tres Leches," made with coconut milk on the premises, was spectacular. Very relaxed atmosphere, lots of families. It's down at the end of route 2 in Charlestown, where both 2 and 112 intersect, and definitely worth a nice ride in the country. read more

I took an out-of-town guest there because of the James Beard Award Nomination, what an embarrassing mistake. The chicken dinner was uneatable, dried out & took it home for the dogs. Fried calmari, clams & oysters were soggy, floppy, and not crispy or hot. Crab cakes were average, no special taste to them. Only one fish dish to choose from (and here we are surrounded by some of the best fresh fish available). Venison was eatable but that was about it. And worst of all were the sides, tasteless, watery, and as bad as bad school cafeteria food. Even the rice side was tasteless and uninteresting. Will never be going back. read more

Went there for breakfast/lunch and loved it. I tried the chicken salad sandwich on butternut squash fry bread. I had never tried fry bread; it was wonderful. I also really liked the coleslaw--kind of crunchy & sweet. My husband got their biscuits & gravy and thought they were delicious! He's from the South, so he's picky when it comes to that. Overall, a cute place with really nice staff and a clean bathroom (always a plus). They have outdoor seating too. We plan to try dinner there soon. read more

We were excited to try this restaurant since we'd heard rave reviews for it. It's native owned and has some native inspired menu options but, as the menu states, modern foods as well. We went early on a Sunday and when we first arrived around 8:15am, the restaurant was only half filled but soon enough, it became packed! We both ordered the mess which was a sandwich laced with over easy eggs, bacon, sausage and cheese. It was soooo good! The side of hash browns were just like I like: tiny pieces of potatoes, well done. As we started chatting with some of the regulars, they insisted we tried the fried bread and ordered us a serving. Wow! That was spectacular; filled with butternut squash. Really yummy. We were told they'll be opening for Friday and Saturday night dinners in a few weeks! This place is definitely going to be one of our go-to spots! We're so glad Chef Sherry and family chose Charlestown for their second delightful restaurant! Try it! read more

I used to go by this little place years ago when fishing. (If memory serves me right, it was an official Narragansett Indian administrative bldg.) It sits on the intersection of Rtes 2 and 112. My wife and I went on a Saturday night and were the first ones there. Our gray-headed selves fell absolutely in love with the food and our attentive waiter. To be honest, I forget what my wife had, but she did love it. I had duck with apple and herb stuffing. I got string beans with garlic as my side. The duck and stuffing were eye-shutting good. The beans tasted great but were a bit crunchy for this fogey. There were also game entrees on the menu. Next time I intend to get some venison. Presently, this is our favorite spot! Wow! I was here for breakfast and was blown away. I'd been wanting to come here for ages, and once Chef Pocknett won the James Beard award, I figured I'd lost my chance to go without waiting in a long line to get in. I got lucky on a weekday morning and there were two tables left. Everything on the menu sounded so good that it was hard to choose. The coffee was excellent. Nice and strong the way good coffee should be. None of that watered down dishwater you get at most restaurants. I opted for The Local, with scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, and a corn cake instead of toast. The eggs were so good. Granted, it's pretty difficult to mess up scrambled eggs, but these were beaten and then cooked and folded over like an unfilled omelet. The home fries were nicely cooked and seasoned. The star was the corn cake! It was made with cornmeal and was similar to a thick johnnycake with raisins. When the waitress brought the food, she also brought a small dish of cranberry chutney that she said was delicious on the corn cake. When she came back to check how everything was, I told her how right she was about the chutney and that next time I went there for breakfast, I might order just the chutney and a spoon! She said that sometimes they have jars of chutney for sale. They didn't have any that day, but she said they'd have some next time for me. By the time I left, all inside tables were full and there were a few picnic tables of people outside. Despite how busy it was, the service was excellent. The waitress handled the tables solo, with a young man walking around topping off coffees and taking the checks. I can't wait to go back! read more

The Vegan Bowl is delicious! It's a little different each time-which I like. Sometimes there's avocado, others, green beans. The restaurant is clean and cute. I haven't done dine-in yet, but I may start utilizing it for work meetings. Staff are very nice. read more

I have been to this restaurant several times since first discovering it in January of 2022. It's my favorite place to bring visiting friends and family. The unique and delicious offerings are worth the wait because everything is fresh here. The outside picnic tables add additional seating to an otherwise small restaurant. Very friendly staff. Chef Sherry knows culinary culture and blends both boldly in this tiny hidden gem called Sly Fox Den Too. Named in honor of her dad, the late great chief Sly Fox of the Mashpee Wampanoag on Cape Cod. Quality indigenous cuisine is now available to the public from someone growing up cooking all the best fish & game one can hunt. Just one edge Chef Sherry's place holds over many high end restaurants. Featuring my personal favorite Bluefish Hash or any hash served here. Sorry folks, fish cakes served without beans is equivalent to cereal with no milk. Fish cakes come with beans any & every time at Sly Fox Den Too. Steamers that are actually steamers (not littlenecks/cherrystones) unlike my disappointment being served elsewhere around New England. Clambakes are clam boils elsewhere, but not here. Authentic New England Chowder isn't the usual nonsense your spoon stands upright in. That stuff can't be healthy for anybody. Good traditional style New England cuisine. May not meet many tourist standards as a result but this place is sure to be a hit with anyone who knows good native New England cuisine. Sassafrass, Cranberry (Sassamin) or Strawberry Moon Teas. Desserts such as Johnny cakes with Mashantucket Pequot Maple Syrup, blueberry slump and be sure to ask for Aunt Jan's apple Brown Betty whenever mentioned on her menu. Where else would one find such? I grew up down the street and never dreamed I'd be so proud to enter the doors of this place as I am now. Wonderful people doing their best to make it work. They are overwhelmed with all the attention, working in a very small kitchen on a teeny tiny grill. Yes, our meal....midweek lunch before tourist season...took almost three hours. We sat outdoors at a picnic table in an area that could use a little sprucing up. Apparently this space was hastily pulled together to accommodate more guests. I'd like to go back and try more of the menu. We had pancakes and bison sausage with onions and peppers on fry bread. We wish Chef Sherry a speedy recovery. Her lovely family are working their butts off to support her dream. We will be back late summer or fall and give it another try. read more

Never got a chance to taste food.after a 50 minute estimate which turned into almost 2 hours we finally complained after noticing someone who arrived after us was seated.We placed an order for app and main. My partner, myself and their family heard great things about this place and I remember coming across an article a while back too so we were excited to come here. The six of us arrived around 10 minutes before 1pm and it was seemingly busy inside so we were happy to sit at a table outside. We were given menus and everything sounded delicious. When we were ready the tall gentleman that gave us the menus took our drink orders and then came back somtime after for our food order. We kept ourselves busy with conversation, of course and I saw the server going back and forth from inside to the outside tables. But 2:30pm came around and he never communicated with us about the long wait, how much longer it would be nor did he check in on our table for more drinks and was seemingly avoiding eye contact. My partner and I had to leave as they had a doctor appointment for 3pm, leaving their sister, her boyfriend (both visiting from the west) and parents there still waiting for our food. I don't know how much longer they waited but I personally was really disappointed especially with being an indigenous individual excited about this business in the first place. I was looking forward to the experience. It would have been fine if there was at least some communication but there wasn't. While my partner and I were leaving we saw the younger looking server go over to a gentleman sitting by himself at a table next to us apologize for the long wait. The atmosphere seemed nice and the food at least smelled good. I understand it was busy but I don't think asking for communication from our server at the very least is a big ask. Usually my partner is the critical one about service as they are in the industry and both bartend and serve. If we ever give the place another try I hope it will be a better experience. :/ read more

The 1st time we went here was a Saturday night in May and we were the only customers. We ordered a few appetizers which were ok and shared a seafood dish which was tasty. Although the rice the seafood was served over had the same resemblance and taste to the Near East Rice Pilaf . I wasn't so sure how authentic this place was since advertised their dishes as "Authentic Indigenous Cuisine ". We decided to give it a second try and this time the menu was condensed to a lot fewer items and many of the items that were on the menu they did not have. We had some questions and the young waitress was extremely rude to us and put out when we asked her what the special where. She left to get her list of the specials and didn't return for another 30 min. When our appetizers came out we had not been given Plates or silverware. Again she never returned with plates so we had to go inside and fetch our own and by then the food was Luke warm . The oyster dish we had was tasteless and sitting in water with soaked ritz cracker crumbs on top ! Again our waitress had not returned we had been there over an hour and treated very rude by our waitress we decided to pay for our appetizers and leave. The owner never approached us or try to make things right. Not sure what was going on there , they were not very busy , just so very strange and uncomfortable. read more

A-MAZ-ING!! Had the pigs -n-figs, the deer meat with corn cakes and mashed potatoes, and traditional native American pudding for dessert, everything was incredible! The service is great and the people are knowledgeable about where they source their food. The deer meat (venison) was cooked to perfection. I grew up on venison and this was the best I ever had. There was sweet and savory all in one dish. The dessert was an outstanding end to a fabulous meal. We will 100% be returning!! read more

Quaint sized breakfast atmosphere. Full of customers! Plenty of breakfast options it was a hard choice. We split two things both of which were tasty and filling.
