So much to unpack here for starters the server shay was by far one of the worst servers I've ever encountered rude unprofessional and had no knowledge of the menu or food. Small Batch was a cool, pretty spot. I had some fancy variation of a grilled cheese and squash soup pairing and a cocktail. It is likely a function of having lunch at Roosevelt Field Mall, but it is hard to see around shelling over $60 for a grilled cheese, itty bitty soup, and a cocktail. The entrees are astronomical and I did not entertain looking there. I will return to try other things, it just did not seem worth the tag at my first visit. read more

My Wife and I have eaten at Small Batch many times, and we have never had a negative experience. The food and service are always amazing; and coming from someone who's worked in the industry for years, I know how much work and detail goes into getting things right; and they have it going right! Tonight's visit was special for us. Not only was it my Wife's birthday, but we brought our Son with us. This was his first visit to Small Batch, and it couldn't have gone better! You see our Son is autistic, and an evening out for us can be tricky sometimes. An evening out is not just simply eating a meal, it's a lesson to learn how to behave appropriately in public; especially in a higher end restaurant. And he nailed it! Our server was also wonderful. We ordered apps, and she brought his pasta out as well; she must have seen him fidgeting in his seat a bit. But it was such a joy to have our Son with us on such a special evening, it was the perfect evening. Beach Vibes, recommending brunch, happy hour , lunch and dinner here. I went to dinner but I plan to Do the other 3. The Kitchen is a open concept into the dining room. It honestly reminds me of like a farm kitchen that you'll see in a celebrity's house. I really did enjoy the vibes of the location. The Is food gives off a clean concept. You don't feel guilty eating it but each plate we tried was so delicious. We made a plate into A appetizer and we both had our separate meals. Some people complained on here with the food being flavorless but what we ordered We're the veal meatballs which were very delicious with the sauce and bread. I ordered the new Burger I forgot the actual name but It was perfect in the fries tasted delicious. My friend ordered the salmon and the presentation look good and he finished a plate. It's a bit on the pricey side but the things that are not that expensive gives you a lot of food. I would still say come here if you are hungry just make sure you get the proper plate and speak to the waiter waitress about your level of hunger. Ate at SB for Thanksgiving. Menu was a great with innovative variety. As always Curt was an excellent host and Joel a on point bartender with a damn good Old Fashion. I have always wanted to go to Small Batch so was happy to see it on the list of Nassau restaurants participating in Restaurant Week! The menu offered a good variety of choices, which included an appetizer, main meal and dessert. I had the white bean soup which is what pulled my review from 5 stars to 4. It was heavy on the oregano and not much other flavor. The salmon dish was absolutely delicious. Was sad when I was done!! And the pear pudding was delicious. (Probably a bit heavy after eating so much already but all the desserts were heavy). The ambiance was interesting with the open view of the kitchen. Service was attentive. Dined here on Easter Sunday and started off with Jillian as our server. She gave a good initial introduction and took our orders promptly. However, we only had one interaction with her after that, when she briefly checked in to ask how the food was. Our appetizers arrived about 10 minutes in, but it took around 40 minutes for the entrées to show up. Interestingly, it wasn't our server but an Asian gentleman who came by to let us know the entrées were on the way--which I would have expected Jillian to do. Overall, the food didn't meet expectations. Most of the dishes were slightly underseasoned--better than overly salty, I suppose--but still left the experience lacking. The ambiance of the place is very good. Nice open space layout and guests are not sitting on top of one another. The service was slow; the manager eventually came over to help out our server and the food took over 30mins to come to the table. I ordered the salmon for an entree and the tuna tartare as the app.. Both dishes I would say were well prepared but not top 5 restaurant food material. The one big con I have to say is the menu pricing. If a restaurant is going to have above average menu prices then they must serve above average food. To end on a good note- The restaurant has a FULL whiskey bar with a ridiculous amount of options. The cucumbers were a bit sour, but the quinoa and corn was tasteless. I recently visited Small Batch Restaurant and started with the buffalo wings appetizer, while my boyfriend ordered the spicy grilled cheese and I ordered spicy bucatini. Unfortunately, I forgot to mention my dairy allergy and didn't realize the pasta would contain cheese. Another three star review from me even though I wish it was higher as I'm a big fan of Chef Toma and Top Chef. Veal meatball app was tender but dry. Sauce was sourdough bread with the meatball were good. Eggplant Parm here which is a deconstructed version is my favorite thing to order. Seemed different and the eggplant pieces were much smaller this time. Still delicious and crunchy but the price of $22 for an eggplant dish is high even with the burrata factored in. The turkey avocado sandwich was great. The hot chicken sandwich was OK. I cut it in half and when you look at it on the inside there really is not much chicken in there. Both sandwiches came with a lot of french fries. I don't really prefer the taste of hand cut fries which was not helped by the fact that these were not especially warm or crispy but there was a generous portion and were well seasoned. The chocolate cake dessert was good with the small scoop of ice cream on there being the highlight. Service is very professional but no one came over asking how things were and if you needed anything had to flag someone down. The male hostess did have to come near out table to address a spill and he did check in on us which was nice. When being seated our waiter asked if we wanted bottled water which my mom answered yes but I quickly corrected her that we were fine with TAP. I just feel like since they give you bottles of tap water she got confused and would have had to pay for expensive bottled water that we never order seemed a little deceptive. read more

I am giving Small Batch a 4 start review due mostly to the bartender who made me an amazing Cosmopolitan. I went to Small Batch and placed a take out order and while I waited for the order to be ready, I ordered a cosmo and the spanish octopus. The cocktail was perfect and the octopus was pretty good, except for the fava beans in the dish which were tasteless. For my to go order I got the rigatoni with mushrooms, pan seared cod and braised chicken thighs. The rigatoni with mushrooms was superb. The best dish out of all of them. However, the cod and chicken thighs were nothing impressive. The best part of the cod was that is was very fresh. The flavors were lacking for both the chicken thighs and the cod. I was expecting to be wowed by every dish but unfortunately I was not impressed at all. The restaurant itself was very nice and clean and the hostess and the bartender were attentive. I walked in here on a summer Monday afternoon to grab a drink and lunch before shopping at the mall. Few people were in the main dinning room and the bar was empty so I decided to sit there. I was welcomed as I was walking to the bar. Before I sat down I was given some ice cold water. I got a dirty martini and the roasted Atlantic salmon (medium). The bartender, Eric, was warm, welcoming and patient while I was trying to decide what I wanted. The salmon was crispy on the outside, warm and soft in the inside. Eric offered some salt and pepper with the meal but it did not need it at all. In my opinion this place can fulfill many facets- if you're looking for a quiet drink in the day before shopping or a celebration. All in all, if you were near this place I'd recommend stopping by! I always pass by this place when I'm going to Roosevelt Field Mall or AMC Theatre 8, but never been until now for my birthday! I made a reservation for 4 through OpenTable for a Thursday night in October and it was confirmed very quickly. Upon arrival, the host already knew who I was and brought us to our seats. Much to my surprise, the place looked very small on the outside but was very specious inside. There was a first room where the bar was at and a dimmer, colder atmosphere. The second room was much larger where the open kitchen was. Loved watching the chefs cook and prepare our dinner in the brighter room with a homey feeling. This place changes its menu seasonally. The menu I looked at online was different than the one we received. We started with drinks where I ordered one of the only three non-alcoholic drinks, agave ginger reviver. It was exactly my cup of tea! I love ginger flavor and bubbly drinks. We did family style and ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entrees to share which I thought was perfect portion. The tuna tartare with arugula on top was very fresh and delicious. The ricotta toast was good and the nuts on top gave it a good texture. Although, the dandelion greens were a bit hotter than I expected. The grilled oysters come in a set of 6. Beautiful presentation and very flavorful. The burger was juicy when cooked medium rare and has a smoky taste to it. The rosemary garlic fries are beautifully seasoned and delicious. The chitarra pasta has a hint of curry flavor to it and was very unique. The pasta is made in house and I enjoyed it very much. I cannot leave a restaurant without ordering dessert. The dessert menu was different from the one I found online as well. The seasonal buttermilk panna cotta was perfect! Lovely texture and not too sweet with just the right amount of spice. This is my 3rd visit to this restaurant. Simply put I Love It! From the soft shades of beige, white and turquoise to the playful paintings of ducks and pigs on the wall. We get inside and it has a similar vibe to a lot of places. The decor had some rustic tones. Not really my thing, but people seem to like it. Waiter came over and was very friendly. I was a little surprised they had no specials. I settled on the Salmon, which was good. It had a nice mix with the asparagus and horseradish. For desert, we shared the monkeybread. I'm a big fan. Atmosphere- unpretentious, cute, welcoming farm/country vibe. I appreciate how they are never packed- busy, yes, but never unaccommodating for walk ins. With an open kitchen, cozy lounge area up front near the bar and fun cocktail menu, it's a great place for a drink or a date night. The restaurant walls are adorned with abstract art of livestock all over which crack me up. Don't be fooled by their understated menu- the dishes are more interesting takes on classics and the food is always top notch: fresh, flavorful and vibrant. I love their cocktails, but wish their menu changed a bit more with the seasons, as do typical farm-to-table restaurants, and was a bit less pricy. I always get the tuna tartare, arugula salad w/preserved lemon topped with salmon and never leave hungry. I really like this spot. I've always passed it when I'm at the mall but never tried it until today. The staff was really nice and I was glad I made it right on time to still catch the brunch menu, which all looked delicious. I ended up getting the cinnamon rolls (I'm a huge fan of cinnamon rolls) and the eggs Benedict. I've never had lox so I was excited to try that. It was really good! And the rolls didn't disappoint. Good American Fusion, a little bit of this, a little bit of that. We started with the Fried Goat Cheese, Roasted Red Peppers, Anchovies and Olive Tapenade Crostini. Delicious starter. We split the Hot Chicken, which came with Rosemary fries. The fries "would've" been good if they had not looked and tasted like they were on their last leg. Their saving grace is the double concentrate housemade-tasting ketchup. It is absolutely divine. The Hot Chicken was a juicy thigh, double crusted, very crunchy and lightly dipped in the signature Hot oil. The pickles give it the right "pop." All on a toasted Brioche bun. The Baked Eggs are heavenly! Savory and plentiful with a buttered slice of Charred sourdough to sop. The cheese Stone Grits are creamy and somewhat sweet. Possibly from the cream or butter. Not totally off-putting but expected the savory. Also, anytime you have stoneground grits, they MUST be cooked almost forever! These were a tad under need a touch more cheesy flavor. If it was supposed to be a white Cheddar, the Cheddar wasn't chedder-ing. Overall, still okay. (SN: we are Creole & Gullah Geechee & sensitive about our grits!) The Rigatoni with braised leeks and Kale were lackluster. Had to use a TON of Parmesan, lemons and some sea salt to give it life. The lifeline is it's fresh made Rigatoni. You're able to find a little libation celebration for everyone, even though none of the Whites or Sparkling, and we tasted most, worked for us. They had some fun cocktails though. As repeat visitors to this space, we are glad it is opened up with an open kitchen. The risk in an open kitchen is sometimes being privvy to "family squabbles." Thankfully, the CdC & Floor Manager squashed it because it would've made for uncomfortable dining. The Service was congenial but a little aloof at times, having to be reminded a number of times about basic items. Your tables should be quickly surveyed and scanned, which should help jog memory, especially when we watch our Server standing around, again, aloof. Overall great vibe and reservations or not, they are very accommodating. Definitely worth going to, especially with a group of friends or family. We have been wanting to try Small Batch ever since I first heard that Tom Colicchio had opened on the island. Last night was finally the night. My husband surprised me and took me for my birthday. As per usual, we were treated to a culinary experience that we will reminisce about for years to come. We were greeted warmly by Kurt the GM. He showed us to our table and laid down the menu that was personalized with a happy birthday message to me. This is a lovely touch I always enjoyed at Colicchio & Sons in the city. Our server Jess was a consummate pro as well as an absolute doll. She was as enthusiastic as we were that we were about to have one of those special meals that leaves such an impression. We started our with the Grilled Oysters and Whipped Ricotta Toast. The oysters were fresh, plump and succulent. They were bathed in this remarkable sauce that had just the right hint of heat from the Calabrian Chilis, as well as that mild hickory smoke from the grill that hit the nose first, and then danced on the tongue. The whipped ricotta could have so easily been heavy-handed. Instead, it was this magical balance of creaminess, slight sweet from the honey truffle, crunch from the hazelnuts and the right amount of bitter and sweet from the braised dandelion greens. The portion size was bountiful, and honestly, I could have made a meal of that and the oysters...but we were in for even more of an adventure. We were gifted with a surprise preview of one of the spring dishes being added to the menu: Pillowy light Agnolotti served with fresh, al dente spring peas, crisp shiitake slices and unctuous chopped mushroom all in a brown butter sauce. We both took our first bite simultaneously and let out an audible "Oh My God!!!!" I think there was some sage in the brown butter? But something else added this Umami layer of flavor. It was exquisite. Mains: He had the Pork Chop with apples, I had Salmon with Horseradish crème fraiche and heirloom grains. He said it was without question, the best pork chop he had ever had. My salmon was cooked to a perfect medium, with this delightfully salted crust. Yellow beets were sweet and the perfect texture. The heirloom grains are the only thing we ate that was underwhelming. I felt it could have used a little acid and salt. Otherwise, perfection. For dessert, he had the strawberry rhubarb crumble and I had the cast iron cookie. Both were the perfect balance of sweet, salt and his, sour. So incredible. The food and service was extraordinary. The floor manager Lisa visited often to check in on us and make wine suggestions, as did the GM Kurt. What makes every restaurants that Tom opens so special for me is, while everything is on-point and the standard is so very high, it never feels stuffy. There is always a warm and welcoming energy that is exuded from the bones of the establishment and through the staff. We even talked with the chef (I'm so sorry we didn't ask his name!). He was so kind, respectful, and indulgent of our longwinded praise. Full disclosure; my husband and I are Top Chef junkies. We went here for brunch on a Saturday morning. The atmosphere was very calm and quiet. The modern farmhouse interior was simply nice, and I love the open kitchen concept. The service here was friendly and attentive. We had the mac and cheese (4/5) it was quite standard. The grilled oysters (5/5) were succulent, briny, with a light herby and smoky flavor. The steak frites (4/5) was tender, juicy, well seasoned, and cooked to the proper doneness. You must be on the qui vive in order to cook an 8 ounce portion of skirt steak the way they did. The fries that came with it was decent. The steamed mussels (5/5) were great. The mussels were delicate and the broth that came with it was rich. Sister in law just moved into the area and we looked up good restaurants in the area and this place came up. It's attached to the mall and the interior is absolutely beautiful. It was a good size and sat a lot of people. We were a reservation of 8 on a Sunday and it was very busy. I got the blt & e which was really good I enjoyed. I also got a bloody mary and it was great! I tried a bite of the hot fried chicken sandwich which i liked very much too. One order in my group was messed up and it took a little for the correct order to come. I've been to Small Batch several times and from that perspective I have a few things to suggest to make this a place people want to continually come to. 1) At least since the beginning of the year, the menu seems to be the same. It's not a huge menu to begin with. There aren't daily specials (or at least there were yesterday). I'd like to have at least a couple of 'new' things to choose from otherwise the menu gets old after a few visits. Same applies to the craft beer choices - mix it up a bit. There are so many local choices. And please get rid of the Ghostfish Grapefruit IPA which is a bad, bitter beer. 2) I'd stick with background music that is a bit more on the relaxing side. There were a few more recent songs that would be hard to classify as music - I'd call them irritating noise at best - that actually made me want to cover my ears until they were over. There may be a segment of your customers that like that but not the majority based on who I saw eating there yesterday. 3) It's expensive for what it is - For two people who ordered 2 drinks, 2 appetizers, 2 sandwiches (fried chicken and burger) and 1 dessert, the bill was $112. On the plus side - the service is very friendly and prompt, the atmosphere is enjoyable and there's a good amount of seating that is spaced out such that you aren't on top of your neighbors. It's a good place to bring a young child because it's loud enough that no one will hear them. They use Open Table for reservations. Small Batch has potential. Honestly if the menu could get occasional updates and/or daily specials that would be the biggest improvement that could be made. read more

Because they had a duck breast dish on their dinner menu that my daughter with tons of allergies could eat safely and absolutely loved. Yesterday was our third time and we were devastated to find the menu had been changed and duck was no longer on the menu. My kid's allergic to all red meat, wheat, peanut, all tree nuts, egg, sesame, dairy, and all seafood so imagine how special it is to find a place that takes her food allergies seriously and prepares her favorite food. My daughter was so upset about the menu change that I decided just to ask our server, Nancy, if there was any duck left by any chance. Nancy graciously agreed to talk to the chef. It was explained to us that normally this wouldn't be possible but because they had just changed their menu, they were able to make her a duck dish with French fries. Absolutely amazing service. Love the overall vibe of the interior and the open kitchen design. Service has been both good and bad, in that it was slow and our server barely checked up on us. Nancy by far has been our favorite - not just what she did for my daughter but also because she was warm and attentive. I do like that all our servers have taken my daughter's allergy card and actually appear to give it to the kitchen. Price wise, dinner easily costs us over $300 with food and drinks for 2 adults, 2 children. The kids menu is an amazing deal for the quantity and quality. Serving size is equal to a regular dish. My son likes to order both the mac and cheese and chicken fingers because it's so good. Now to patiently wait and hope they add duck back to the menu.. read more

Visited for Sunday Brunch with my niece. It is located outside of Roosevelt Field Mall so finding nearby parking depends on time of day. They didn't offer valet parking. We were seated pretty quick when we arrived. The decor was beautiful and clean. The staff was pleasant and patient. We enjoyed our food and drinks. I had the Wagyu Burger and my niece had the Steak Frites. We drank a Mimosa and an Agave Ginger non alcoholic drink. For dessert we had the apple crumble and the cookie skillet. I've been wanting to try Small Batch since they opened. I was excited to be able to get a lunch reservation on a beautiful day. My expectations were fairly high because I've been to Craft and Gramercy Tavern. The look of the restaurant is lovely and I I thought it was very appealing with the artwork and furniture. I ordered the Chicken Thighs braised with cured olives, tomatoes, soppresetta and garlic confit. I was going to order the hot chicken sandwich which I love but I figured the chicken thighs were some thing a little bit more "gourmet" but I kind of regretted not getting the chicken sandwich because I didn't realize there was going to be rosemary in the dish. After painstakingly taking out all of the rosemary from the dish, it did taste better for me. I wish they had indicated that there was rosemary in the dish, on the menu. I would likely not have ordered it. I do love Rosemary but in very very small amounts. I think it's a rookie mistake not to mention that there is a prominent herb in the dish. Perhaps I missed it. In any event, it did taste very good but I was kicking myself for not having just ordered what I was originally planning to order. My husband had to Waygu Burger which he said was very good but also, he's had better burgers on Long Island for the same price point. Perhaps the ambience is not as nice as Small Batch but I'd rather have really tasty food in a not as nice restaurant then very good meal at a beautiful restaurant. With that said, I expected more from the food as Colicchio has a very good reputation and in my opinion, the burger should be at least as good as other comparable Waygu burgers. The burger was cooked perfectly though. The highlight of our meal was actually dessert. We ordered the cookie in the cast-iron pan with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce and chocolate sauce. The cookie was almost like a cake, very high butter content and just the right texture. Of course I should've asked for a double scoop of ice cream but it was excellent. Again, I was torn about ordering a different dessert such as the Peach Crisp for two. In this case I was glad we did order the cookie in the cast-iron pan. Delicious. The service was fine. Not bad but certainly not memorable. The waiter who served us halfway through our meal was much friendlier and welcoming. Would I come back to "Small Batch"? Yes I would, but I would come for dinner and if I come back for lunch, I will order something different. read more
