Wow, what a disappointment. Family of 4, orders 2 chicken fingers and fries, yes chicken fingers are for kids and I have two of them, kids I mean, not chickens. We also ordered a burger with Swiss cheese and fries and a salad with chicken. Also my impulse kicks in at the cash register and I also order fried pickles and a side of chili appetizer, this is the same impulse that had me leave a tip on a counter service order. This was not exactly a complicated order, no special request just an order straight off the menu. The Hamburger, chicken fingers, pickles and the smallest cup of chilli you've ever seen come out 20 minutes later. What no salad? Waiting 20 min. for a hamburger at what is basically a fast-food joint isn't great, but you figure this is like a "gourmet burger" and the cranky children be dammed we are a North Shore of Long Island Family of hipsters who require 100% Angus beef, with not blah blah and blah!.........and of course kids are great at waiting when they are tired and hungry. So the kids put down the DS/Itouch's and start to eat what is so clearly frozen, crappy chicken patties. You know these are crappy because my kids who are not picky and basically eat anything put in front of them and even they didn't eat more than half the chicken. My wife was brought the wrong burger, 5 min. later her burger comes out for a 2nd time, missing the cheese but at least she gets food. 35 min. after ordering everyone in our hipster North Shore Family of 4 is done and looking at me like, WTF Dad you're always screwing up the party, or were they looking at me like "poor dad" gonna go to bed hungry tonight cause we're not waiting. So, I've had 5 really salty fried pickles and I've eaten the smallest chili in the world, I kid you not, it's a quarter paper cup that is less than half full, literally 3 spoon full's, which indecently tastes like it's canned Dinty Moore, wait actually Dinty Moore is way better than this dark black crap that was scrapped off the bottom of a pot that that was probably started at 9:00am, by the way it was now 7:00pm. Hey on the bright side it's topped three pieces of fresh jalapeno pepper, fresh jalapeno pepper just makes the smallest chili in the world taste like hot crap. So now I've asked politely, by walking up to the server window if the salad is coming out and twice told that it'll be right out. 40 minutes into a fast food meal I go to the cash register counter and ask for my money back. You know the deal, there is only one person in the place who knows how to give a refund and has a key and they have to get that person from the back, they come from the back and figure out how to work the 10,000 buttons on the register to push in a refund. Of course the key master can't figure out how to put the tip back...But whatever the family has their jackets on and are ready to go. So if you're looking for a long wait for salty, frozen, batter fried pickles and crappy hot chili dinner this is the place for you. PS. I checked my credit card a day later and I wasn't credited the money back for the salad. Go figure if they can't make a salad in 40 min. I should have known they wouldn't be able to give me a credit. We decided to give you another chance Smashburger as aside from some quality control, the burgers really are tasty. And I'm happy to say, they still are tasty! Unfortunately in addition to their greasy goodness, there is also a chance you may get food poisoning. My husband had the mushroom burger and about 6 hours later was dying many many deaths due to food poisoning. I too was feeling pretty awful, but had the NY burger so we are trying to pin down what exactly was the cause (fried pickles? a teaspoon of ranch dipping sauce?) Maybe we have bad luck, maybe it was just the mushrooms, but I assure you that despite some tasty burgers, I don't think I'll convince my husband to ever step near this joint again! read more

From the few times I've been to smashburger it was always the one in New Hyde Park. Decided to try the PW location one day. Very disappointed. The floors and tables were filthy as well as the restroom (the soap dispenser was broken and on the ground plus no paper towels left). They were definitely understaffed and the employees were aloof. This place is poorly managed. The burger itself was very over cooked and nasty. French fries were cold and stale. Stay away from this location! read more

my husband had a burger from there last night and within 10 minutes he was nauseous. he woke in the middle of the night, passed out and then proceeded to throw up for 20 minutes. after going to urgent care, they determined it was food poisoning. Food is delicious but the staff is sub-par. Some of them are good but one in particular is very rude. Tables are disgusting, there's scuff marks everywhere and nothing is ever bussed. Chairs are always filthy. Soda is right next to the kitchen window and is also always dirty. read more

I recently went midweek 7:00pm; if I realized how understaffed and dirty the place was i would of walked out. After placing my order(burger, fries, shake) to stay, I realized how disgusting the place really is. There was not one clean table, in fact most tables still had trays of leftover food/wrappers on them. There was one table that was complaining about how long the food was taking to come out. Great place for burgers, chicken sandwiches and ice cream shakes, (they serve beer also) the other items on the menu are awesome. I love the salads and they will custom your order according to the food items they have on the menu . Ex: don't order fish because they don't sell it. If you want an egg on your burger or chicken they will do that. Every time I've gone in they have been really warm and friendly, (you get what you give....attitude) Its better than Shake shack, and Bear Burger . Runs a tie with my other fav. Smashburger is great. But I had a very disappointing experience at this location. I printed out a buy one get one free coupon that I have used at other locations but this port Washington location refused to accept it. The general manager looked at the coupon and read the terms for 10 seconds and made up a BS term saying he can not accept it because the coupon has to be printed with the email header. I didn't argue and let it slide. But I think i should have argued because no where in the terms of the coupon did it say the coupon had to be printed with the email header. So great chicken sandwiches and burgers. But very disappointed with the managers making up terms to refuse use of coupon. read more

Smash Burger has a pleasant, modern atmosphere for lunch. I had the Classic Smash Burger with a side order of fries and fried pickles. I washed down lunch with a fountain Cherry Coke. In total, the price came to about $10, which is average. The burger was very tasty. Prepared fresh and laid on a tray with all of the toppings neatly placed, it was simple to eat this burger without it falling apart. The fried pickles were pretty good, although they do not give you enough sauce for dipping. A good amount of fries were given, however, my batch was just a tad on the overcooked side and not salty enough for my taste. Overall, the food was good for a unique fast food joint. The service is friendly and the best part is they clean up after you, saving some time if you have to get out somewhere in a hurry. I recommend eating at this new PW establishment. read more

This place was good when it first opened. The fries have been changed twice, with them becoming thinner and worse each time. The staff keeps being replaced, and now they have inexperienced people who don't know/don't care about what they're doing. They ruin the burgers, and make them taste like garbage. It basically depends on who is making your burger to determine if your experience will be good. I don't think its worth gambling over, so don't come here. read more

We are DONE here, Smashburger. One word of advice? GET OUT OF TOWN! Why? We are sick and tired of constantly declining levels of(non) service. It seems as though you recruit every intellectually deficient person within the zone, and deliberately do not train them. Your employees are totally inept, unable to learn, and below the lowest, minimal level for any form of employment. Your constant excuses, breakdowns, PC problems and other issues have forced us to leave several times before orders could ever be placed. The entire town feels the same way. My family raved about Smashburger the last time I went to visit them, so we decided to eat there to prove their point. I'm not familiar with the area but it seemed located in a nice strip of other stores, and had lots of parking in the back. Service was quick and friendly, and the food came out pretty fast. The burger was good--cooked the way I asked and I liked the toppings. Did it blow me away? No, but it filled me up. I like how you can customize your burger with different buns and toppings, so next time I visit I'll get a little more adventurous. The fries were a let down--so tiny and flavorless, but I ate them anyway. Different taste/vibe than Shack Shake or Five Guys, but I'm willing to eat there again. read more

So the last time I went here confirms I will never be back...the service was awful..I never heard a restaurant say (which they did during my visit there) that they will not take orders for 10 minutes bc they are to busy..without thinking of the ridiculousness of this statement, the staff then just went about filling up napkins and cleaning tables when the restaurant was a 1/4 full..there was zero reason to stop taking orders or doing any meaningful work, but the staff said we should contact corporate bc they can fix issues with the restaurant..again no idea what this means and never heard such our tragedies statements by staff or a restaurant in general..there was no manager to talk to so I just walked out of the restaurant with my family and will never be back... read more

This whole gourmet burger phenomenon (BareBurger, FiveGuys, ShakeShack) is making me fat. Haha. Smashburger has a variety of burgers, chicken burgers, fries, shakes, and I believe beer. I have been here at least 3 times and really love their burgers and fries. I have had the Avacado Club, Spicy Baja and Truffle Mushroom Swiss. I thought Spicy Baja was the best since I really enjoy spicy food. The burgers are all tender and are presented well on the platter. If you request, the waiter will bring special sauces (Mustard Peppercorn?, Chipotle Mayo?, BBQ) that you can put on your burger or eat with your fries. You have to order the Smash Fries! They are awesome thinly cut fries with rosemary, garlic and olive oil sprinkled on top. I like how they bring the food to your table and how clean the place is. It is a bit pricey but for the customer service, cleanliness and food I could say that it is well worth it. After trying shake shack and five guys, I have to say smash burger is one of my favorites. read more

This place is disgusting. D-I-S-T-G-U-S-T-I-N-G. I came here with my severely disabled child Clarissa who attends the Port Washington School for the Physically Impaired because restaurant establishments in the area are notified to accommodate for students of the nearby school. Apparently Smashburger never got the memo! As soon as Clarissa saw the the manager with the bowl cut hair she started crying. A asked Clarissa what was the matter and she said that the woman? smelled so bad that she couldn't breathe. Smashburger doesn't teach its employees about proper hygiene, which even Clarissa knows about. She was very greasy and rude to Clarissa. We left without even picking up our food. My girl had the spicy veggie black bean burger and i ate the grilled chicken avocado club sandwich. We also had reg fries and smash fries. I enjoyed the reg fries more. The seasoned smash fries seemed like they were soaked in oil. The veggie burger was actually pretty good. My girlfriend (vegetarian) really enjoyed it. Funny when i was ordering, i asked the cashier which burger was popular and instead of recommending a burger she said the grill chicken sandwich was good lol. So to be safe i went with that. The chicken was well seasoned and cooked just right. i really liked it. We plan to visit again soon. Hopefully next time ill grab an actual burger =) read more

I don't normally give 5 stars but for what it is smash burger deserves it. This location is clean and staff are friendly. I never got the burger so maybe it doesn't count but the chicken sandwiches were great! Especially the avocado bacon club. Yum!!! My son enjoyed his hot dog and fries but special mention of their sweet potato fries. They are heaven!!!! I'm craving these things right now. They are the just right combo of salt and buttery sweetness and came out warm and soft with an outside crunch, these can be addicting for sure. Great for lunch especially with kids. I have yet to try a salad because the sandwiches are just so yummy! Oh and you can get a beer here on tap, what!? After a day with these kids a cold one hits the spot. read more

Came in here with my best friend on her birthday. It was empty here and there was no one at the counter when we were finally greeted by Darlene at the counter she was rude to us and told us to wait. I ordered my burger fries and my milkshake with no whip cream. She gives me a milkshake half full with whip cream. Then the imbecile had the audacity not to give me my change back when i paid. Then my friend went to order she got her order wrong too and when she delivered our food she threw it on the counter and was very rude. Something needs to be done about this I am a very loyal customer and come here often and this is not how I should be treated here. Fix it. read more

With all the positive things I've heard about Smashburger, I was excited to finally try it. Just as I walked in, I was greeted by menus at the doors, perfect for first-timers and people who don't like squinting at fine print behind the register. I ordered the BBQ, bacon, and cheddar burger, some sweet potato fries, and an Oreo milkshake, and paid a reasonable price for it. The burger was delicious, yet very oily, and the sweet potato fries had way too much salt. However, I didn't get one thing: the Oreo milkshake. More than 15 minutes pass, I go up to the cashier to inquire about my shake. She said a coworker of her's was making it at that time. As I attempt to wait patiently, I see other tables around ours, receiving full meals AND milkshakes. Though I understand that the waiter/cashier forgets an order now and then, 30 minutes pass, and she glares at me with a "You gotta be kidding me" look. Usually we enjoy his quick high quality meal. Unfortunately most of the time they are short staffed. Tonight all nine tables by the cashier were dirty and covered with food. The only clean tables were by the cold window. After I offered to clean a table myself they did it for us. But we were still surrounded by dirty tables. They only had one person taking orders and making shakes. When we finally did get our order there was a mistake and they had to remake my husbands burger. Our family used to enjoy Smashburger for an affordable, quick, vegetarian-friendly bite. However, during our last visit, we noticed how much portions have shrunk and the restaurant and bathroom we're dirty. In fairness, I think the restaurant and bathrooms were dirty because they were not adequately staffed, which is a management issue. Food was very salty. Value is lacking because of smaller portions. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more
