I really enjoy you guys shakes and smash fries their incredible!!!!!!

I feel compelled to write this review as I've just completed my 3rd bad visit to Smashburger on Falls of Neuse Rd. When the location first opened the food and service were excellent. I would rate the first 10 times I went there as a 5. He last 3 have been a 1. Each time, my meal was delivered late, not as I ordered it and the food was luke warm when its hours have been hot. When someone in my party complained, the complaint was met with resistance, an ambivalent response or simply no action at all. I have to now say I would not recommend this location. read more

Great food but terrible service. Have been here 3 times now and our order is messed up every time.

We went for the first time in 11-15-15 for lunch. The food tasted good, but it took twenty minutes to get our entire order so by the time the last item arrived, everyone else's food was cold. We had to send back three orders because they were wrong, and when we asked to speak to the manager about the long wait and mistakes with our order, the woman who delivered our food copped a nasty, patronizing attitude. Can we review a burger place based on the burgers? In that area they are way behind Five Guys and Char Grill. The most meat you get is in "big burger" and that might be 1/4lb. There is no option for a double burger. The burger itself was ok but not nearly in the league of Five Guys. It was kind of like if Wendy's took care with an order. How a burger place can not feature the burger front and center is beyond me. "Oh but they have a black bean burger!". No one cares. If you do care you would be in a different restaurant discussing the various varieties of artisan kale in a high flutie voice. This isnt SmashBarley, you freaks. Because the burgers take a back seat there is a lot else going on to distract you. How about putting an avocado on that burger? A fried egg? A variety of mystery sauces? There is no "cheese burger" on the standard menu- for that you will need to 'Create Your Own', like some sort of aberrant animal. The closest you could come would be to order the "Classic Smash" and start deleting stuff. Did you really want 'SmashSauce' (which google reveals to be a mix of mayo, lemon juice, relish and mustard)? I did appreciate that you can choose the type of bun you want (egg, pretzel, chipolte) and there are a good variety of cheese (goat cheese is a good addition). But what in the name of all that is Holy are you doing with the ketchup! Every table has ketchup and yellow mustard. The mustard- Heinz yellow. Meh, slightly odd and most people might wonder why there isnt a brown mustard. But the ketchup is some no name house brand! You have Heinz right there selling you mustard(which isnt their thing) and you pass them up for the ketchup! There is a reason why Heinz has all the marketshare- people like it. The Heinz sales rep comes in every month and you say "10 cases of mustard, no ketchup for us!". Instead there is an no name "manufactured in New Mexico for Smashburger". Fail- for a place that sold me an $8 burger. Fries- haystack fries are basically potato sticks from your childhood. Amusing as a change of pace. Steer clear of the "buffalo fries" which just have season salt dumped on them and are frankly an embarrassment to the category "fries" and the category of things "buffaloed". Overall this isnt much of a burger place- its more like Smashsides. You could go there and have a perfectly fine meal. I had my first visit last night and was very impressed. I had heard about the chain but never had the opportunity to go to a location before. The menu offers plenty of opportunities to customize your burger and the prices are very reasonable. I especially like that they offer spinach as an option. The employees were all friendly and made sure we had exactly what we needed. There are many bun options and I chose the pretzel option. It was excellent. The burger was delivered to the table quickly exactly as ordered. The burger and fries were hot and fresh. I thought the burger tasted great. It had a lot of flavor. They also know how to grill onions so that they are not partially raw and overwhelm the burger. I loved having the spinach instead of lettuce. We did get the smashfries with the seasonings and they were very good. I usually find the thin fries to get cold and unappetizing quickly but these stayed good thru the meal. I am so glad they have Coke products and offer Coke Zero. We definitely will go back soon. read more

I'll make this short and sweet: My boyfriend and I placed our order without any issues but got cut off on the way to the soda machine by an extremely rude employee who didn't apologize. My boyfriend received his hamburger about 5 minutes before me. I finally got mine and it had a small side of fries but we asked for one large order so they took my whole burger back with the fries to get us the right side. The manager came out to give it to us after a few minutes but never apologized for the mixup. Once I FINALLY got the chance to bite into my burger, it was dry and tasteless (and I got the triple mushroom swiss.) I had to SALT my burger, which has never happened in my 32 years on this earth. First time here. Killer sweet potato fries. I ordered the wrong thing...everyone else's food tasted great. I got the black bean burger and it was below average. It tasted like someone mushed up some black beans, fried it, and tossed it on a bun. No pizzaz and no typical spices that you find in black bean burgers. It was off putting. The mushroom Swiss is amazing with truffle mayo. And their smash chicken was tasty. Just don't get the black bean burger and you should be ok. Clean place. Average friendliness in staff. Average helpfulness. Average prices. Average a lot of things, but killer sweet potato fries. For the price range, if you're really craving a traditional burger, I suggest Five Guys, but if you're feeling more adventurous with the smash chicken this place is unique and tasty. read more

I read the recent negative reviews before going and thought, "Meh, probably a fluke." My wife's food was ready in ten minutes. Mine was ready in twenty. Needless to say, hers was stone cold. My burger was almost bleeding. read more

Hmmmmm, I have come to like the Smash over Burgerfi. But a little disappointed this evening. Came in at 9:40pm. Several people inside. Ordered a burger--- tried to order a shake. The shake Machine had already been cleaned - couldn't. OR wouldn't make me a shake!? It's 91' holiday weekend. Not a good business practice. At least she was honest. Disappointed. $9.56 for a regular smash burger small fries and drink, was expecting "wow" for this price. Patty was good but thin and small (1/4 lb at best). Shoestring fries were hot and crispy but nothing special. Egg bun was cold and chewy. Friendly staff and good service but don't see a reason to return. Better and cheaper burger just down the street at Cookout and no comparison to 5 Guys. read more

Yesterday I was on my way to my favorite burger joint in the triangle, burgerfi, and on the way I saw this place called smash burger. I decided to try it. I walk in and I was greeted with a "Welcome to smash burger". I ordered the smash fries and the big burger on a pretzel bun with lettuce, smash sauce, grilled onions, bacon, goat cheese, and a fried egg. The food came out more quickly then burgerfi, But I was extremely disappointed with the taste. The meat lacked flavor. I couldn't imagine how bland it would taste without my selection of toppings that drowned out the weak flavor of the beef. Overall this is an alright burger place. You're better off going to burgerfi, elevation burger, five guys or getting a Kobe beef burger with cheese at The Cheesecake Factory. read more

Had my first try at the latest burger concept to hit Raleigh. I had the barbecue burger and the signature french fries. The burger was decent although a bit small and overwhelmed by the much larger done. The onion rings were but tasty edition. The french fries are mediocre. Got the "make your own burger" -loved all the choices, especially the pretzel roll. The tater tots tossed with rosemary very tasty.

My burger was super good. I got one of the classics with applewood smoked bacon, ketchup, mustard, and pickle. It comes with onion too but I asked to not have it on mine. If you want lettuce and tomato there is no additional charge to add on your burger. Drinks and fries are not included. The smash fries are okay. It's an olive oil blend with spices. They have salads and milkshakes to choose from as well. Seating is kind of limited but there is out door seating as well. There are workers that will clean up your trays and refill your drinks. They are pretty quick too. I will definitely be back to chose a different burger. read more

I have been looking forward to eating at this location of SmashBurger, as it is fairly close to me. I have eaten at SmashBurger's in California numerous times, and have enjoyed my dining experience, and thought "great" they are here now! The only thing that comes to mind from the other day, is the old Wendy's commercials with the big bun, and little burger. Not that I looked under the hood (bun), to actually see it; I actually decided not to, as I might be even more unimpressed, than I was from just looking at it. HONEST... I could not see a burger at all, just the chili from the Southern Style burger. I actually wonder if they forgot to put the burger on it... yes really! To say I'm hesitant to go again, is an understatement, because I do not want to incur the (regular size) monetary loss, with a (large size) side of dissatisfaction. I was curious - always looking for a great hamburger - so we stopped in. Nice environment. Interesting selections on the menu. But when I got the burger the "buttery" was greasy. The french fries were the shoestring fries, great seasonings, but I like thicker fries and burgers. The meal was served in metal wire baskets with a paper insert..... The service here is terrible. On tonight's order I ordered ranch on the side and it came on the bean burger. I ordered smash sweet potato fries and they regular. I ordered a kids hot dog only to find they were out of hotdog buns it came out on a hamburger bun. I've had the Spinach & Goat Cheese Burger a couple of times and like the flavor and the fact that it makes me feel good about eating a burger. It pretty much comes with a side of healthy! They are generous with the spinach and the goat cheese (they had me at goat cheese), and the cucumber, tomato, onion, and balsamic vinaigrette make it more like a burger and a salad all in one. The multi-grain bun is okay. A little dry, but that's pretty much expected when you go whole-grain or multi-grain. But still, we put a man on the moon...why can't we have moist multi-grain buns? Anywho, the fries are great. Shoestring, cooked just right, a little salt. Mmmm! This is a stand-in-line-and-order kind of place, but they do bring your meal to your table. You don't need to bus your own table either. I'm liking the burger joints popping up around Raleigh that are a step (or five) above fast food but are still dedicated to a simple burger-centric menu. Now mind you, we are big fans of Burger Fi. He ordered the spicy cowboy, and I just wanted a bacon cheeseburger with the fixings. I can honestly say I thought this burger was better than my burger fi go to. Yep, I said it. I loved it. The burger was hot, fresh, and juicy. I also ordered a side of the smash fries. Liked the great selection of toppings but was very disappointed in the issues with operations of the restaurant. It appears that the franchisee was not given enough training by the parent company before being left to run his business. The line was so long to order because the operators couldn't get one of the terminals to work. No explanation or apology. The manager never discussed the problem and didn't interact with the customers. Next, i ordered the bean burger and my wife got her food before I was told the bean patties were not defrosted. A substitution was provided but no real compensation for not getting my order. What seems to be wrong here is that the franchisee wasn't properly trained in customer relations or might just not have the appropriate personality for this type of business. I hope he doesn't fail because of this and lose his investment. The staff is not being properly managed. Another customer was mentioning to an employee that there were issues every time they visited. The franchisee should reach out to the corporate sponsor for help and training before too many customers write off this restaurant. That would be a shame. read more
