What a cool tea shop! I just happened to spot it passing by and went in to browse their teas available for purchase to bring home. Their jasmine green tea is very good.

Smith Teamaker on 23rd is such a cute spot. The shop display is always beautiful, and the music selection is calming and nice. It's the perfect place for a solo tea break or a quiet tea time with friends. They offer a small selection of snacks like scones and breads, and there are plenty of tea options, from classic blends to seasonal specials. I love their different tea blends. Today I attended one of their events for a wreath-making workshop, which was a lovely experience. The staff were so sweet and helpful, and combining wreath making with tea tasting was such a wonderful idea. I'd love to come here more often for solo tea time. Just note that seating is limited, so it may not be suit for a larger group.

Stopped by for a cuppa before our early dinner reservations down the street. Went for iced since it was a hot day. Will need to try this hot next time. Staff was friendly. AC was blasting.

Cute place. Nice selections where you live tea or not. Bat seating, table seating, and outside. The service is top notch. I had the golden pineapple lemonade and it was refreshing.

1/3/24- I think I might become an avid tea drinker.... Picked up a combination box of No. 55- Lord Bergamot/ No. 96- Jasmine Silver Tip..(local retailer).. Why ? 1. The colors of the box and because there were two varieties to try. 2. My vegan son has been wanting me to make an Earl Grey vegan scone-.. 3. I've been reading and researching the benefits of Bergamot.. Beautiful dark colors of the tea and such a nice sachet.. Flavor.. five stars- very smooth- and not overpowering with equal flavors.. Sometimes you know.. and this tea is a keeper..!

This place has a lovely aesthetic and kind service. I went here when I was feeling upset after a doctor appointment. Got the lavender haze latte and everything is all good. Super queer, friendly and cool outside seating.

I like Stumptown Ethiopian cup after cup of coffee in the morning, just a cup or two of Smith Tea in the afternoon and Breakside IPA (not counting) in the evening. Like what I like - my fav better buzzzzzin beverage daily fixes for my persnickety taste buds. As for tea there's no better place than Smith on 23rd for tea choices, friendlily service in a convivial and contemporary setting. Pull up a seat inside or outside on the sidewalk. Sip and relax! Take tea to go. At home I go with Earl Grey, Lord Bergamot black tea with refreshing blackberries, juicy mango and orange peel. Smith sources tea farmers caring for soil and plants with sustainable "quasi-organic" practices. I like quality - like that alot! Why - it's Smith tea for me!

As a tea lover this is my dream spot. Smith tea is based in Portland also which is cool. You can smell all the teas before picking one. They do all kinds of tea lattes and a tea flight which I definitely want to try when I'm back. I got the seasonal "lovers leap" blend for Valentine's Day which I loved. They put a lot of care and precision into the teas and brewing methods. You can really tell. It's expensive but the quality is top tier. Employees are super friendly as well. Come here!!

An upscale tea house here in Portland, OR. Enter inside and the aroma of fresh brewed tea will tickle your senses. There you may have your selected tea brewed and made to perfection. The warmth of the tea will keep the cold December weather chills away from you. The place is welcoming and they have a wonderful selection of quality teas.

matcha latte and black lavender fog

A cute mix of store and cafe. There are areas to buy the tea leaves and small sample containers so customers can smell the different teas. For the cafe portion, there are many different tea options that customers can choose from. The indoor and outdoor seating is also convenient. I should also note that the outdoor seating has heaters my friend and I weren't freezing while drinking our tea. I had a matcha latte and my friend had black lavender fog. We both enjoyed our drinks. However, at the end of the day for me, the lattes were well made but not something I would purposefully seek out. The people who served us were also lovely and helpful. I will say though, if you are visiting and a tea person, that you should at least check it out once as there is a large variety of teas and they have some limited edition teas that I haven't seen elsewhere. Also note that if you are looking to eat anything aside from a small pastry, there wasn't much to eat, although my friend and I did go later in the day, so that might have played a part.

I wanted more. The tea I ordered was an iced Jasmine tea. It honestly had no flavor and tasted like water. I was really hoping for a jasmine flavor. They offer other teas on the menu. Maybe if I tried something else, the tea would have tasted better. The staff were not that helpful when I asked about the tea I just received. Noted. You can buy teas to take home as well. I was not impressed.

    S'mores & Tea Flight

If you're not one of the millions of people that run on coffee and prefer tea, this tea shop has an amazing selection of drinks and tea products. The shop is cozy with tables for relaxing with a cup of tea or doing some work. It was quiet when I visited on Thursday afternoon, almost too quiet. There was soft music playing in the background, but I would've preferred it to be a little louder as I felt our conversations could be heard by everyone around us. The girl working there was friendly and offered some helpful suggestions. But I already had my sights set on their S'mores & Tea Flight ($15). It featured three s'mores made with different kinds of tea-infused marshmallow fluff and paired with hot teas. It was very unique and the presentation was cute. You can tell their teas are high quality from the aroma and taste. I really enjoyed the Jasmine Silver Tip and bought tea bags ($12.99) to take home as well as some Golden Light ($13.99). Since I had the flight, I was given 10% off which was nice. Tea can be boring, but they make it exciting by offering things like flights and teas on tap. They also have seasonal flavors that rotate. As an avid tea drinker, I wish there were more tea shops like this around.

Fantastic! Lavender London Fog was creamy, strong with a hint of vanilla and lavender.

Overly pushy with the tipping and then I was served a hot tea flight with dirty cups.

The store has a lot of teas and spices in various sizes. It was well organized and stocked. They all had various tea and spice related items. We got there at 2:15 p.m., and there was a "be back soon" sign on the door. Lee showed up at 2:30 p.m. and was absolutely wonderful--super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. My drink was spot on; the tea flavor came through, it had a nice bitterness, and wasn't overly sweet, which I prefer. My colleagues ordered a matcha latte and the Redstraw signature drink and weren't as happy due to the sweetness. They went for 25% sweetness in theirs, but still found it a bit too sweet.

This reminds me of the Korean cafes that are sprinkled all over Southern California. We were delighted to see it here! I ordered a black sesame late and a black sesame mochi donut. Being only one barista, right after you order, he makes your drink immediately. You can hear and see the espresso shots being made and the ice filling your cups. Dependent on your order, he pulls out the cream for the top. I can see the black sesame cream top being very thick and full. A lot of patrons were ordering their tiramisu latte, and I don't blame them! It's what is very popular here. Personally, I enjoyed the black sesame latte very much. It was the perfect amount of cream and sweetness. The taste didn't overpower the coffee, which is nice. Their mochi donuts were good, too, with the consistency of mochi dough. Definitely would make another stop here if I'm ever around!

They are located outdoors within a repurposed trimet station, which add such a a unique Portland touch to their vibe. Although usually a 1-2 person operation, drinks always come out relatively quick! I tried the tiramisu latte and the black sesame latte. The tiramisu latte was easily my favorite. The cream top is rich and delicious, and when mixed into the coffee it really tastes like a classic tiramisu dessert. It's sweet, smooth, and feels like a treat without being overwhelming. The black sesame latte was also great, especially if you like nutty flavors. It has a natural sweetness with a deep roasted sesame taste that almost reminds me of peanut butter, making it both comforting and unique. I've also had their regular latte before and really appreciate the quality of their espresso. The coffee itself has a smooth, balanced flavor that stands out even without added syrups or toppings. A great spot to visit if you enjoy creative specialty drinks but still want genuinely good coffee underneath it all.
