The food and service is excellent. What bothers me is that it's always freezing cold. The seating is plentiful but there is not one spot where you can escape the air conditioning blowing right on you and your food so you better eat fast cuz it's going to get cold real quick read more

I stopped by to get a drink before going to work. They made a mistake with my drink. So I went inside the restaurant. I met the must amazing woman. She asked me what was the problem. I let her know that my drink was made wrong. She had me throw that that drink and proceeded to make my drink that I asked for. She was so pleasant to me and the other customer that she was serving. I was so impressed with how professional she was. She was polite, friendly and gave excellent customer service. She made me feel very important as a customer. I in turned bought two sweet teas for my Managers also. I am giving a big shout out to Melissa Robinson for taking her time to make me feel very important to you business. I haven't had a bad experience with the 17th Street extension location and I always enjoy their food. The only issue I have with my most recent visit was the young man at the window handed me my food with the boxes on their sides in the bag instead of having it lying down in bag and handing it to you. I have enjoyed their bbq sandwich for years. Today, 5/18/22 I had a poor sandwich. Pork and slaw were good but the bun was lightweight, thin and tasteless. It messed up the whole thing. Smithfield usually has good barbecue. However, the service is horrible. It took over 15 minutes to get a barbecue after standing in line for over 5 minutes. There were only 2 other customers in front of me. Then I spend another 4 minutes asking for a napkin that wasn't provided. read more

When I entered the store I was greeted by an employee named Melissa. She was incredibly nice and helpful. This was my first time there and I would go back just for her, she is awesome. The best part of the order was the friendly service at the drive-through window...the person who took my order (sweet lady named Jimmy) was especially personable, and handled the changes I made quickly and patiently. Pretty shotty customer service. Everyone seems miserable. Can't say I blame them, the manager seems to be a dick. I saw him yell at his cashiers at least three times, and then come out and act like a nice guy with the customers. I've had a manager like that, and it's the worst kind of manager. They have good fried chicken and pork BBQ. we make a mistake and got the shrimp. what a disaster! little tiny overbreaded popcorn shrimp that had absorbed too much oil. they should serve a nice fish filet instead. we fed ours to the dog after eating a little bit of it. there is no excuse for this. the rest of the food is good. why ruin it with lousy overbreaded oily little popcorn shrimp? just buy real medium shrimp if you're going to serve shrimp. read more

This rating is only based on what I ordered, which was the fried skins. The person that brought me here mislead me I was craving chicharones like I had back home from the Mercado's..they would fry them up fresh (YES LAWD!) And you would have those crispy fatty pieces attached to the hard crunchy pork skin. And then you would find those Lil jewels of deep fried pork belly's..uhm delicious awesomeness. I don't normally find it necessary to review chains...but this place deserves it. The service there is just impeccable. Every single time I have been here, the nicest people ever are working. So refreshing! Now on to the delicious food. Everything....everything...is amazing. I moved to CA two years ago and you CANNOT find NC style BBQ anywhere....and it's terrible haha. The BBQ here is consistently amazing and the slaw and potato salad are perfection. I recently tried the fried chicken for the first time (it's very hard to get me to eat anything but BBQ here) and I was blown away! Way better than any of those other fast food fried chicken places. I will never again visit NC without having my SFCB fix. I am obsessed with the food here. The Carolina bbq with the slaw is amazing and I even took a pint with me for the road. Chicken tenders were delicious. Never loved a hush puppy until I stopped here. And the sweet tea is on point. I will say that at this particular visit, the food was not ready very quickly but it did come out hot. Our drinks were not refilled which I thought was a thing but this was only my second time so I'm not for sure on that. For a chain restaurant, I am very pleased with the quality of the food. I drive a bus for a local retirement village. Thursday I took a small group of residents here for lunch. The manager and his staff were so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. It can be difficult taking senior citizens out for lunch considering their mobility issues and needs, but this business went out of their way to help make our visit enjoyable. I can't say enough good things about the staff. They stood in the rain to hold the door at both arrival and departure. Frequently came to our table checking that everyone had what they needed including drink refills and take along containers for the leftovers. Almost forgot to mention the food was very good, too. The BBQ was pretty good...I don't always like the southern style bbq. The fried chicken was just OK - I've had better. All the sides were pretty average. I guess it's a little better than other fast-food options, a little more expensive though. The family meal was around $30 for a decent amount of food. I would say it feeds about 3 people. The service is phenomenal and all of the people are very nice and helpful. All of the food is great, and the Brunswick stew was incredible. My only complaint is that the barbecue was quite spicy, but I'm not one for spicy food so I'm sure that's why I thought it was hot. My sister is a vegetarian and didn't realize that the beans had meat in them, and the manager offered to replace it with fries for free.
