The place was not busy - about 50 percent occupied I would guess. My wife's dirty martini arrived without an olive. There is a huge list of pricey wines by the bottle, but only maybe 5 reds by the glass. And after a wait, I was told the one I ordered was out. The French onion soup we ordered was pretty good. Steak was good, a small filet mignon. But - it was just plopped on a plate by itself. A grey piece of meat in the middle of a white plate by itself. For $47. No garnish, no effort to make it attractive. Sides were wrong, ordered twice-baked potato, almost got a regular baked potato. Overall, food was OK, just low effort at presentation and slow in coming. There's no dessert menu. Would have been nice to have a cup of coffee and a piece of cheesecake. It's not like they were looking to turn the table, took us two hours start to finish. Though I noted on the reservation it was our anniversary, that didn't get carried through. We don't need to be treated like royalty, but why ask if it's a special occasion if you're not going to acknowledge it? The check was wrong. I was charged for the glass of wine I didn't get. Had to wait again while that got fixed. The restrooms aren't in the restaurant - you have to leave and hike down the hotel hall to find one. It's just not the 4-star experience you would think from the billing and the big prices on the menu. Look elsewhere if you are looking for that fine dining experience.

A second round of drinks and we were informed we could go to our table in the dining room. We enjoyed the well stocked salad bar and a bowl of hearty, creamy chicken and dumpling soup. Like gizzards and liver pate? They have it. The delivery of our meals was timed perfectly. I enjoyed my ribeye and baked potato. The steak had great flavor and was prepared as ordered. I don't know if it was one of the older people there or if it was a building issue. I'm done giving them a chance. I live out of state now and I used to look forward to going there. The ribeye was cooked medium rare as requested; it just didn't offer anything memorable, and I'm talking seasoning, or being able to top it with a sauce, compound butter, sautéed mushrooms, etc. Why not offer those?!?!? Strangely, I enjoyed the sautéed vegetables almost as much as the steak, as they had color and flavor compared to most other places that seem to boil or microwave the veg and toss it on the plate. The owner stopped by to check on us, and the personal touch was refreshing. We absolutely loved the live music from a local Irish band and stayed the entirety of their show. That's when we realized our name hadn't even been put on the waiting list. After finally adding us, we were told it would be another 30 minutes. About 45 minutes later, we were finally seated. By then, we were soaked from the rain and were seated directly under two air-conditioning vents that blew cold air on us throughout the entire meal. Service didn't improve once we were seated. It took a while just to get water, and of the six glasses, five were full while one was only half full. It took roughly 40 minutes for someone to take our order and another 40 minutes for our food to arrive. The food was equally disappointing. Three of us ordered the fish fry and received what looked like three small frozen fish pieces sitting on top of pub chips that had become soggy underneath. Most of the fish was eaten by the time the waitress arrived with our tarter sauce. They were also out of coleslaw. Another person ordered the tortellini, which arrived cold and was missing the sides that were supposed to come with the meal. And a cold cup of soup. We also planned on ordering the Pizookie for dessert, but they were sold out of that as well. Throughout the meal, no one checked on our table or offered drink refills despite the long wait. Overall, the experience missed the mark at every level from the wait list and customer service to the food quality and hospitality. Our group camps nearby and always enjoys trying local restaurants.
