This is a NEW owner -- it is NOT "Rancho Smog". It is in the same location as was the former "Rancho Smog", which I had been to twice, but both times received gruff service and I wasn't going to return a third time. On to "Smog Tech Pros". I used a coupon from the Pennysaver so ended up spending exactly $40 to have my 2000 Toyota ECHO smogged. I was greeted within 5 seconds of walking in the door, they took my paperwork, keys, and I was sitting down within a minute. About 8 minutes later, my car was parked out front, done, and the tech came back in to give me my paperwork and accept my money. The whole process wasn't much more than 10 minutes, and the tech was friendly and prompt. The price with coupon was in line with others. No complaints! Given the great experience, I really hope others don't confuse this place with "Rancho Smog" just because it's in the same location. read more

Wow what a great place. I called ahead to make sure they would be open by the time I got there. when I showed up at 5:00 I was the only customer. There were 2 employees and before I finished the paper work they already had my car in the bay. They were so quick I didn't even get a chance to finish thumbing through the HOT ROD magazine they had out. I think it only took about 5 minutes. I WON'T BE RETURNING. I took my car in recently for a smog check after reading all the great reviews. The younger guy at the counter with his hoodie over his head looked grumpy and miserable. Didn't say hi or welcome and just stood there until I walked up to the counter. Without even talking to me, he grabs a clipboard and pushes it to me as I was telling him that I was there for a smog check. I handed him my DMV paper and he takes the clipboard and fills in some info and literally slides it over to me as he was walking away. Still hasn't said a word to me. I filled the info out and just went and sat down. 10 mins later, another guy tells me my car is done and that it passed, so I went up to pay. Didn't tell me the process of what's going to happen next. I gave him my phone for the $10 checkin and he looked annoyed. He takes $10 off and tells me the new fee. I pay and he said bye. Before leaving, I asked about the certificate and pointed at my DMV paper and he rudely says, "we don't take care of that" as if I was telling him to pay my registration or something. I meant to point at the printed receipt, so i said that to him and just repeats with what I said, "it will be sent to the dmv." I just left after that. I don't know if the two guys just had a fight or something but the mood was definitely off. I was the only person getting my car serviced other than the one that just finished when I got there. I give this place two stars only because I didn't have to wait. I don't care if your dog just died. If you're not "okay" enough to be at the counter....stay in the back. UPDATED REVIEW: The owner of this service center immediately responded Tony review with an apology and an immediate solution. I took my car back. The technician tested my monitors BEFORE even pulling my car into the shop. My car passed smog without an issue. Thank you, Smog Pros. I appreciate the effort made. This place is run by losers. Completely unprofessional. My vehicle unfortunately failed it's first visit, which was absolutely fine, I paid in FULL and was told to bring the vehicle back within 30 days for a free retest. I brought the vehicle back 2.5-3 wks later and was told that without the original yellow copy I could not be helped. Fine. Too bad nobody told me that the first time, so I didn't bring it with me. Instead of helping me out, considering I drove across town to get here (since apparently they do not have a computerized system) the guy told me "I'm not going to go dig through and find your invoice, sorry" and that was that. I don't expect the best customer service from a smog shop, but that was garbage. read more

The $10 dollar off on Yelp helped me drive there as I was in the neighborhood. It would be nice if they had prices for smog check posted. So the first question I asked is how much for a smog check? Worst place ever! If you drive a stick don't go here! This guy jammed my gears & tried forcing my car. He broke the linkage in my car that *I* had to pay for. His response was "he drives sticks all the time & its not my fault". Mind you my reverse is in front, he didnt ask he just proceeded to jam my gears. I spent two hours while they tried to smog my truck. They told me I needed to go to the smog referee because the smog machine would connect to my truck. They didn't charge me but gave me no recommendations. I took the truck to another smog place the next day and it passed with no issues. Makes so sense ... they had some janky equipment if you ask me? I have been using this place for years with no problem until today. I took my 83 year old friends RV there who has always had her smog done there. When I got there it was third in line.After waiting for about a 1/2 hour they came out to take it back. After looking at it I was told that they would have to charge me $20 to remove the inspection plate off (three twist lock screws),I told him that they had never charged me that before. I saw no sign indicating this charge. By this time they were starting to get busier so I think they just didn't want to take the time to smog it. They already charge about $100 dollars because it's an Rv. Needless to say we took our business elsewhere! I will no longer be doing any business with this place after about ten years and 5 different vehicles. Their loss! read more

I DID NOT have a very good experience with them. Took my vehicle in, they drove it around back, ran all the tests etc. and came out to tell me that it DID NOT pass! When asked why, the guy said because my check engine light was burned out... and apparently that causes a fail? Thanks California! But I asked him how he knew it was out, assuming it wasn't even supposed to be lit up, I .E. there were no malfunctions to cause it to be on. He said, Oh, when I started it up to pull it around back, I saw that it didn't light up before cranking the engine. I said, well, since you KNEW right then and there that it wouldn't pass, why didn't you tell me, BEFORE testing, so I could replace the bulb and bring it back. He gave me some mumbo jumbo about that is "pre-screening" and they aren't allowed to. B.S.! But he also said, if I would have asked him he would have told me? They just wanted to lock me down to them and be able to charge me the extra $10 re-test fee! I talked to a friend who works as a SMOG tech at a dealer (not a STAR location or I would have just gone to him) and he said there is no rule or law that says they couldn't have told me to fix the light first, bring it back and save me not only the $10, but the time I had to sit there and wait for them to test it all, and then come back and test all over again! They just wanted the extra $10! Additionally, they didn't close my hood which nearly flew up on the freeway on my way home. I had to pull over on the freeway to close it! Took my car in to be smogged and apparently all of the monitors were not on yet. Instead of telling me and sending me on my way they failed my car and made me pay the smog fee. I had to return that Monday for a retest once the monitors were on and ready. Now my car will always have a failed smog on its carfax and I just felt like it was very dishonest. I called two other smog shops out of curiosity and they both said if monitors weren't ready they would just tell me to return later not fail my car. read more
