Restaurant Review: Disappointing Service Despite Refund I recently visited Smoke and Fire during the lunch rush, and unfortunately, it was a frustrating experience. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, leading to long wait times for both ordering and receiving food. While I understand busy hours can be challenging, the lack of efficiency and communication made it even more frustrating. There were only 2 people working. 1 chef and server/cashier. My food sat on the counter for 15 minutes. They offered to remake the food, but we were out of time and my friend, 8 1/2 months pregnant, could not wait any longer to eat something. My excessive wait and unreasonable delay of my order led me to request a refund. The restaurant issued the refund, which I appreciated, but I later realized that they kept the tip for the total bill. I paid for the drinks as well. This felt unfair, especially considering the lack of service received. I typically try to be understanding of staffing shortages, but if a business cannot provide timely service, they should at least ensure they properly reimburse customers--including their tip. Came here cause of the viral TikTok MacRib and honestly just had to do it! It is pricey ($33 plus tip), but I was starting out my vacation in SoCal so, YOLO. Lol. The Mac Rib sandwich was magnificent. It's a full smash burger with all the fixings, smoked brisket sautéed in our house bbq sauce, and topped with a full dino short rib. Put together with 3 pieces of Texas toast to hold things down. Per the description. It is super heavy, good enough for 2 people. I tried it on my own and had leftover for another meal. Super delicious, but you're definitely getting food coma after. I think it's great to try once and I'll be back eventually to try different food. The waitress also hooked it up with one piece of the cornbread which wasn't too sweet, but was pretty good and helped balance out the saltiness of the meats from the sandwich. I added some of their comeback sauce to it which took it to another level for me personally. The street corn was pretty good but I was hoping for a little bit more tangy or even spicy flavor. That's just my preference. Portion wise it was very satisfying. The price is a bit higher than maybe your average burger or BBQ place but with the portions, flavor and quality they offer it's definitely worth it (my husband got the 1/2 lbs brisket platter and it was huge!).
