I've been coming in here on occasion since they've opened and the food is always solid. Today they're slammed for the holiday and he got me in and out in 15 minutes, which is highly appreciated. I got the meal for 2 with ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and baked beans and green beans as sides. I'll admit this place is middle of the road and isn't as good as some of the higher end spots. This place has been open for 3 weeks and it seems like they have been smoking forever! In a way I guess they have: the owner started in the BBQ business with his dad as a child, and now has graduated to opening his own place. We saw this place was close to the US Grant NHS, and had 4 1/2 stars on Yelp, so we bypassed closer BBQ places to eat here. We are SO GLAD we did!! We got there a bit after the lunch rush, which gave us the chance to chat with the owner. He recommended the pork ribs, pulled pork, and cheesy potatoes - a recommendation we followed to our delight! I had the pulled pork sandwich which was pokes high with beautifully smoked pork, moist and tender, on a crispy bun. Heaven on a bun! The cheesy potatoes were just as divine. The pork ribs are done St. Louis style, with a sweet rub. Those ribs were a great size, with a beautiful bark on the top and meltingly tender, moist and delicious inside. We were craving bbq and uber eats had a 20% discount, so we tried it. This was absolutely delicious! We ordered the Bbq for 2 and the smoked wings. Portions were great, so much flavor and the meats were juicy/tender! This may be my new favorite! I did order the potato casserole but received the macaroni. Oh my this BBQ was some of the best I've ever had! I had the pulled pork lunch plate with fried green beans and Mac n cheese as sides and my wife had the 1/3 rib plate with Mac n cheese and fried corn on the cob. The pulled pork was incredibly juicy and I paired mine with their spicy BBQ sauce. Delicious! The ribs were tender and juicy and slathered with a honey BBQ sauce. They really hit the spot! The Mac and cheese was so cheesy with a hint of Smoky flavor. It was different and we ate every bite. The fried green beans were seasoned to perfection and fried perfectly. The fried corn on the cob was not exactly what we expected. It wasn't breaded, just fried as-is. It was ok. Nothing to write home about. Each lunch plate comes with 2 large pieces of garlic bread, but the portions of everything else were so generous, we didn't have room for the bread. Nutshell: pretty good pulled pork, amazing cheesy potatoes, nice people, decent prices. Worth a stop in. Welcome to the neighborhood! They opened just about a week ago, so it was time to stop in. I used their online ordering (super easy, no extra fees) and scheduled a pickup on a Wednesday night. I walked over a little early and there were a few tables occupied with folks. I appreciated the man behind the counter verifying my order before handing it over. I went with a pulled pork platter (I needed lunch leftovers), which comes with two sides and garlic bread. I chose cheesy potatoes and potato salad...because carbs don't count on hump day. The pork was pretty good and had a decent smoky flavor. It wasn't fatty, which I loved, but was a little chewy. Cheesy potatoes were where it was at. The taters are cubed, not shredded or dices and that was a very nice texture. I think it had onions (which I love), but I woofed it down so fast, I can't be sure. The potato salad was a good mustard based salad. Definitely homemade. The garlic bread was good; pretty standard bbq joint stuff. I also added an extra sweet sauce. It wasn't clear on the order form if you get one sauce included or if it was all a la carte. But I only ended up with one pot of sauce. It was only a quarter, so that was fine but something to consider. They have a sweet, a spicy, and a mustard sauce. The sweet is a little vinegar-tangy and is on the less viscous side. I liked it, but it didn't unseat my favorite. All in all my total was a little under $15. I got my leftovers, so I say that's a success! I'll stop back in for a sandwich and to try their other sauces. read more

We chose "BBQ FOR 2", which included 1/2 rack of meaty, tender ribs, 4 nice chicken pieces, and a meat of choice--we chose brisket, and it was a generous serving of the most tender , flavorful brisket we've ever had at any other BBQ restaurant! I love good barbecue, and there are many joints in the Lou that bring it, but - and I say this with complete confidence - Smoke N Bones is hands-down the best barbecue joint in the city. Smoke N Bones recently opened; I wish them all the best, but they need a bit of practice in order to stand up to all of the other great options in STL. I ordered their 2 meat combo platter with brisket and turkey. The brisket had very little bark and the flavor was underwhelming. The turkey was alright, but nothing extraordinary. For the sides, I ordered baked beans and fries, and again, they were just fine. One part of the meal that I did particularly appreciate was the toast that came with it. Too often, the bread at BBQ restaurants is an afterthought, but I received two buttery pieces of quite tasty toast, which helped round out the meal. I'm not opposed to trying them again in the future. Nothing about the food was offensive, it just didn't stand out. If you're hungry, in the area, and are more worried about quantity than quality, you might consider giving them a shot. read more

I just tried this place for the first time even though they are 5 blocks from home. Wish I had gone sooner. The owner a very friendly young man has developed a rub and smoke that makes his meats unique. I had the spare ribs, very meaty, excellent flavor and tender. The bone is clean when done. The 2 sides I had were so good, the cheesy potatoes you could tell were homemade and I couldn't stop eating them. The green beans were cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. I know there are BBQ places all over but, for the price and quality, you need to give them a try. I'd give 6 stars if I could. read more

Got a chance to try this new bbq place tonight. Overall, it was a good meal. We tried the ribs, brisket, and turkey. Everything was served without sauce on it so we could decide how much we wanted on our meal. The turkey was moist and had just the right amount of smoke giving it a good flavor. The ribs had a nice outer crust with a great smoky flavor. Unfortunately, they were a bit dry for my liking. I added a little more of the mustard sauce which helped. The brisket was the best of the meats we tried. I was served a nice mix of cuts including a few burnt ends. The sweet sauce went well with the beef. They have a wide variety of sides allowing you to customize your meal. We will be back to try more of the food. I really want to go to the pulled pork next. This is a nice locally owned (non franchises) bbq spot. Definitely worth trying. read more

Ate here for the first time today. We had the pulled pork, ribs, sweet cut corn, bbq beans, cheesy potatoes and mac n cheese. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful and the mustard sauce made it even better but it didn't need it. The ribs were just the way I like them a good chew but tender. The sides were good we especially enjoyed the cheesy potatoes. We'll be back to try some more of their offerings. read more

While not from STL, I visit a lot and always try new bbq spots. Usually once a trip. Unfortunately smoke and bones was such a let down I had to find a redemption bbq spot before I left. The staff was nice (well the one guy out front), but the food was below mediocre. Got the two meat combo (ribs and chicken). Chicken was decent, but the ribs were awful. Honestly felt like I was ripping off the meat fresh off a new kill. It was fused to the bone, zero char and tasted more like a rib you might get from a Chinese restaurant (super sweet candy taste, instead of bbq). It reminded me of ribs that were made in a pressure cooker. The green beans were honestly my favorite thing, which isn't the point of getting bbq. There were 3 of us (2 native people who live/lived here and myself). All of us were really disappointed. We were even charged for waters, which I though was odd. Delicious! Now I wish we had tried it sooner. I'm already looking forward to our next meal from this new (less than 4 months) local gem. We did takeout for dinner. The briskets were so flavorful. The beef was tender and cooked perfectly and the pork was tender and sweet. Both were generous portions. We stuck to the traditional sides and they were exactly what we expected. The cheesy potatoes, green beans and cole slaw were all delicious. With every new item we tried I was expecting it might be the one that "wasn't my favorite" but I never found it. Even the toasted bread was still yummy after making the car trip home. It was easy to order and pay online and the order was ready when we arrived to pick it up. The guy at the bar was friendly and pleasant to deal with. I hope this review will inspire the South Hampton neighbors (and beyond) to get out and support Smoke N Bones. I ordered the turkey+pulled pork sandwich and a side of cheesy potatoes. The meat had a good flavor and bun was perfectly grilled. Cheesy potatoes were bland, so I wouldn't get those again. They only had 3 bbq sauces available (sweet, spicy, and mustard). They were decent. I liked the sweet one best. The portion was a good size for the price. And the restaurant was really clean.
