First the good. The Tri Tip was excellent perfectly cooked, very tender nicely seasoned. The ribs were ok not great nothing special in my opinion. Just a overall peppery taste. The brisket was really dry and overcooked. The slices were way too thick. The brisket reminded me of grandma's overcooked roast beef. The Mac and cheese is mediocre even with the bacon on it. I was in Yosemite for the first time earlier this year, and it was recommended that we make a visit to Smokehouse 41. I love going to barbecue joints that make everything in house and could sell out of a particular meat at any moment. We came by in the afternoon and I ordered a combo plate with two sides. The sides were good, and the meat was fantastic (between three diners, we tried brisket, ribs, and pulled pork). Not many options for vegetarians, but enough to satisfy your hunger. I originally came for the twice baked scalloped potatoes, only to find out they have bacon in them and I can't have them. I wish they made it vegetarian and just topped it with bacon so it could be a vegetarian option as well. I ended up getting Mac and cheese which I found a chunk of meat in halfway through. They should be more careful with cross contamination of vegetarian and non vegetarian options. The Mac and cheese was mediocre. I always expect BBQ places to have amazing Mac and cheese and end up disappointed many times. The jalapeños gave it a nice kick, but it wasn't overly spicy. The broccoli salad was pretty good. I would definitely recommend that. The apples inside gave it a nice refreshing taste. On the other hand, the Cole slaw wasn't something I'd order again. Came from outside the area and stayed a day in town and this place had the smokers going so decided to try it out. Food- Ordered the baked sweet potato with brisket and a 2 meat combo, it was delicious!! The sweet potato was loaded (recommend double the meat) and the sweetness to the potato is a great contrast to all the toppings. The 2 meat combo (tri-tip and sausage) was great. The baked beans were tasty and I'm not a beans fan. The jalapeño mac and cheese wasn't spicy but had good flavor. Price for everything was great for what you get. Pickles were very yummy. I left completely happy with my purchase. Service- The customer service was outstanding! From the moment we walked in the door to when we left, staff were attentive and friendly. From the person cutting the meat, to the sides, to the cashier, to the bus boy providing us boxes and even opening the door for us. Went to Smokehouse 41 while in town with the family on spring break. I had the three meat plate, wife had two meat plate, and kids (teen and friend) had pulled pork sandwich. We tried the tri-tip, brisket, sausage and pulled pork. The meat was all smoked very well and not overdone. Dry rub was fantastic and everything held together great. Some of my brisket was a little dry but it was from the lean end. We had mac and cheese, baked beans, potatoes salad, and dinner rolls. Again, everything was amazing, the beans are a ranch style and had a heavy pepper forward taste. I liked that they were different and they are worth the try, although next time I would stick with the mac and cheese and potatoes salad. Service is walk up cafeteria style. Staff was really busy but did their best to walk guests through and answer any questions. Be prepared for a wait of your there at peak times. Seating can be sparse but the atmosphere is casual, relaxed and family friendly. They have a good assortment of national and craft beers on tap. A great spot to enjoy dinner after a day in Yosemite! I was pretty impressed with the quality of the food offered. We ordered a three-meat plate and a half-rack of ribs, both of which were really good. The three-meat plate comes with, you guessed it, three meats, and two sides of your choice. We went with BBQ beans (very tasty) and cole slaw (decent) as the sides, and sausage, brisket, and pulled pork for the meats. For the rib plate, we added a slice of brisket and chose broccoli salad and baked potatoes for the sides. You can't go wrong ordering any of these things, I'd say. My main criticism is that the quantity is a bit lacking. Each of the things we ordered is just sufficient for two average or slightly below average eaters (in terms of quantity). But it ended up working out for us in the end. This place gets busy! And they can and will run out of meats. We got there about 90 minutes before closing and weren't limited, but people who came around 20-30 minutes later didn't always get what they wanted. Parking can be tricky at peak times, but it is right across the street from several hotels, so if you're staying nearby you might want to just walk over. Drove down from Tenaya Lodge and got here right before the lunch rush. You basically walk up, tell them what meats you want, pick your sides, and head on to a table. We were so lucky to find this BBQ Restaurant adjacent to our hotel. The food is really good! The sign on the door says they routinely sell out prior to closing, and the hotel receptionist verified that "Go early before they sell out ". It was PLENTY of food for the two of us. The flavors were delicious, and I especially liked their barbeque sauce. This restaurant is self serve.
