Friday 7/3/20 my husband and I ate at Smokey Bones and I was amazed at the condition of the restaurant and the nonchalant attitude of the employees given the recent increase in confirmed Covid numbers being reported and restaurants closing due to positive Covid employees. The first thing I noticed was the sour milk stench when I walked into the restaurant. The first time the waitress came to the table she had her face mask covering her mouth only. She took our drink order and when she returned with the drinks and took our order she lowered her mask down beneath her chin and leaned in to the table to talk to us. Almost ALL employees were NOT wearing their face masks properly. I witnessed employees at the pass through handling food coming out of the kitchen with their face masks down. The next thing I noticed as we waited for our food was how dirty the restaurant was. You would expect that there was plenty of time to deep clean the restaurant during the time restaurants were closed. Before we left my husband went to the restroom. When he came back he said that the men's room was disgusting and there was a dead cockroach on the floor. See attached photo. Also the urinals were grossly stained and dirty. Not too impressed. The sauces were good, but I've had better pork and turkey. But the waitress said that the chicken wings have won awards for 2 years running. So maybe give those a try. This restaurant was a quick stop for lunch on a Saturday . They have just remodeled and the atmosphere is nice . The music though was extremely too loud for lunch time . I would understand playing it louder if the restaurant was packed but at this time of day when there are only two or three families in there the music volume was over powering . One member of my party ordered fried green tomatoes and they were not cooked thoroughly so the majority of it was uncooked batter underneath the crispy outer edge . They were not edible . The BBQ was good , and other than the tomatoes the food was good for the price. Our waitress, Savannah, was attentive and polite! They were quick to fix the issue and subtracted that amount from our bill . We will return ! read more

The service was great but the food is just mediocre but I should have known by reading the reviews and saw only 2.5 stars! Should have gone to Bone Fish Grill or Texas Roadhouse! Bill totaled to $40.31 and all we had was an order of Fried Green Tomatoes, an unsweet tea, 1 peach buzz Margarita and a brisket platter with BBQ Baked beans and creamy Cole slaw! The portions were extremely small and the taste was just blah! More ice in the glass than Margarita! Would not recommend eating there! read more

Absolutely horrible experience! We arrived and were seated next to a large table that had not been cleaned. We were there for an hour and 15 minutes and no one even attempted to clean up the mess. Once we ordered it took forever to get our food. When the food finally came ( my mom and I had split the combo of sliced smoked chicken breast and pulled pork with two loaded baked potatoes) My potato was not with our order. My son had ordered chicken wings with a side of fries and his fries were also missing he also never got his ranch. I could have overlooked this if the sliced smoked chicken breast hadn't been so disgusting. That chicken had been smoked to within an inch of its life. It was tiny pieces of dry chicken that strongly resembled dog food. The pulled pork was decent but not great. After a long period of time our server finally noticed that my potato was missing and brought it out. The manager came by and I expressed my concerns and was told we could get a free dessert or have something taken off the bill. After she left and my son noticed a long hair on one of his chicken wings. Needless to say we didn't want dessert or anything else. We were told something would be taken off the bill but when we received the check there was only a $5 credit. Our bill came out to be over $100. This place is a joke. Have been seeing advertisements for their "Giant Hawaiian Ribeye", and thought it sounded comparable to J Alexander's Steak Maui which is great. Turns out this "giant piece of fat" costs $27.99, which is $1 less than J's. It was nowhere near the medium rare that was ordered. On the positive side after taking one bite the management took it off our bill. They offered to cook a replacement but it was so bad that I declined. With good reason it was 8pm on a Friday night and they were dead. read more

Terrible service, had to press the service button to get a server for drinks. When drinks arrived we were ready to order but server walked away. When food arrived, we still had no utensils. Note: don't get their Mac and cheese items: Really really bad. Great place to come for some good BBQ. I've read some reviews and it surprises me that people had a bad experience here. Perhaps it's because I get the same thing every time. I get their BBQ chicken which is half a rotisserie chicken covered in their BBQ sauce. You can also get two sides with your entree. I would suggest that you get their mashed potatoes or fries. BBQ beans are okay but if you're already getting BBQ related food, I would recommend you get something else. It tastes exactly like the BBQ beans you can get from any grocery stores. Their smoked wings are also excellent. You can either order 8 pieces or 16 that you can choose from about 5-6 flavors. Their Garlic Parmesan smoked wings were great. This place has always been consistent with their quality of the chicken. I recommend you get their BBQ chicken when you visit. You will not regret it. The food was mediocre quality, cooked "OK" but not high-quality. Portions were good but the taste was merely standard. Pros: great service, clean Cons: food was terrible! The chicken nachos had weird cheese and tomato sauce and quickly got soggy. The combo platter of beef brisket and "sliced chicken". The brisket was fatty and tasteless and the chicken was like a spam product sliced like deli meat. Our kids described their kids' meal pizza as "raw and rubbery". Only giving this place 2 stars because the sever was nice. After 4 hours of driving - we decided to rest our tired bones at smokey bones and sit down for a good hearty meal. This was an impulse choice based on the lack of cars in the parking lot and near starvation after being in the car for so long. About 10 minutes into our visit we knew exactly why the parking lot was so empty during lunch hour near a mall. The "fried pickles" were in edible. This is quite the statement considering how hungry we were. We left half of them sitting on the paper basket waiting for the server to unceremoniously remove them to the garbage. I had pulled pork and BBQ beans. I promise you this pork tasted like it came from one of those prepackaged Bettie's you find at the local grocery and the beans were drowning in brown sugar. I couldn't finish my meal - even in my famished state - because I just couldn't handle putting any more of that "food stuff" in my mouth. I imagine all of their food is trucked in frozen and waiting on someone to microwave it before plopping it on your table. Don't waste your time or money and next time when the parking lot is empty - that a pretty good indicator of what your meal will be like. Note to self. read more

I have never experienced a level of incompetence at any restaurant than what I experienced here. My family and I waited for over thirty minutes for our orders to come out. When someone of my party inquired to another server about why it was taking so long her answer was, "well we had to focus on another party that came in." Mind you that this party came in approximately fifteen minutes after we did. When our food was finally brought out it was cold. The onion rings weren't cooked all the way through, the fries were cold, and the Mac and cheese (one of their "ultra premium" sides) tasted of something worse than school cafeteria food. A few of the people had to send back some of their plates because it was nigh inedible. Some how the kitchen still couldn't manage to send out food that was warm. The servers themselves didn't seem to understand what the hell they were supposed to be doing. Some seemed to be aimlessly walking around the restaurant. Others were standing near the kitchen not doing anything in particular, there was a gigantic mess of severs near the kitchen trying to figure out where to take the food. First off, the atmosphere. The place has a strange log cabin meets O'Charleys feel. Their giant banners with quotes about BBQ and pigs almost seemed to clash with the classy rustic theme they were pushing. Hostess and waitress were fantastic. My waitress was friendly and attentive without being pushy (I'm sorry I can't remember your name). Food. Ok, heres we're I get annoyed. We flip through the menu and see that the real entrees are all priced around $15. I've seen a previous review of the BBQ chicken so thats what I pick up with loaded potatoes and baked beans. My fiance chooses the fish n chips. When they arrive my heart sinks a little. I had seen previous customers with very large plates so my hopes were going for portion size. I felt betrayed.The sides come in tiny bowls on a very large plate.Disregarding what was actually there, I don't understand how an owner can think that presentation is a good idea. It makes your portions seem so much smaller. The previous reviewer spoke about getting half a rotisserie chicken. I don't know if something was going on that day but I received two legs on my plate. From a very small chicken. Thinking back I'm sure this is due in no small part to the fact the waitress asked me If i wanted white or dark meat. I'd have never made the choice had i realize it dictated my portion. The meat itself was ...food. It was covered in a strong but thin coat of BBQ sauce that seemed to tear apart like paper. Underneath that the chicken was naked pale and flavorless. The baked beans, as someone previously put, were drowning in brown sugar. It was overwhelming and I couldn't eat more than a bite at a time. The loaded potatoes were pretty good, but it bears the question "Why must I pay an upcharge for access to the sides that taste ok?" In case you've never looked at their menu "Normal Sides"a.k.a boring or bland sides, are $2. "Premium Sides" aka equivalent to the normal sides applebys serves, are $3. Why not strive to make all of your sides "Premium"? In closing. My fiances fish was delicious. Phenomenal even. The cole-slaw he received as well. Probably the best coleslaw I've ever had and I generally HATE cole-slaw. We both finished our meals completely and I still felt a bit hungry. Bill came out to be 23$ a piece with a cheap beer.
