I ordered 12 jumbo smoked wings (dry) and 12 traditional jumbo wings (wet); fire grilled salmon w/ corn & loaded baked potato; half rack of import ribs w/ loaded baked potato & mac & cheese; loaded fries; and the smokehouse mac and cheese. The wings were really dry (even the ones that were supposed to have wet sauce looked like a dry rub...absolutely no moisture on the surface). Also, there was nothing jumbo about these wings. They were regular sized and even smaller for some. The wings' meat was tough and dry like jerky. It was clear these wings sat under a heater all day. Terrible. The salmon was dry and both loaded baked potatoes only had cheese (no butter, sour cream, green onions, butter or bacon bits). The smoke house mac & cheese (SHMC) just didn't taste good. Took one bite and said "nope." I don't think they prepared it poorly. I think the recipe just isn't for me. So technically no complaint about the SHMC besides it just doesn't taste good to me. Maybe someone else may like it, to be fair. It's important to say that I am writing this review literally 30 minutes after arriving home with my order. That's how bad the food was. What bothers me the most about this is their pricing. They charge fair market value or higher prices for food that I can honestly well below fair market quality. My adult son said Domino's wings were better. I essentially spent $119 (before tax). My final point is about the pressure to tip before I even knew if I liked the service. I ordered online initially for delivery and it automatically included a 25% tip. TWENTY FIVE PERCENT?!! When did it become so acceptable for businesses to decide for customers when and how much we will tip before we even know if the service deserves a financial expression of exceptional gratitude? It's almost like they expect us to pay them for the privilege of giving them our business? It's offensive. I switched to take out and the website still automatically included a 25% tip. I figured out how to remove the automatic gratuity but it shouldn't have happened. It's truly bad form, especially because I don't think it was worth the price even before considering tipping. Cons When I walked into the restaurant, no one acknowledged me when I went in. Though my meal was very tasty, there was nothing unique regarding its taste. It looks very dark inside, and when I first came here, I thought it looked like the place closed. Would leave zero stars. Poor customer service. We placed a drink order and waited while our drinks sat on the counter for 20 minutes. When the drinks arrived the drink was watered down. We asked for a replacement. The waitress told us that the "manager" wanted us to know that they would take these drinks back but the next one (even if there was an issue) wouldn't be refunded AND if we had another issue that it wouldn't be fixed. We had a problem with that. That is not a busy motto to have...not being able to stand by the quality of your services. We asked to speak to the manager...the "manager" went on to state how A LOT of people are returning items and told us to "choose wisely." I told him that if "a lot" of people are returning items then it is a service quality issue that requires training not requiring (forcing) customers to pay for bad service. I asked for the contact information for the owner and the "manager" then states that he is the owner but has no contact information or a business card. This "manager's" name is Xiao Wong Chow but goes Patrick. Poor customer service. Not only do they treat their customers poorly they treat their employees the same (read the reviews of current and former employees). I tried the new Robert's Ribfeast. The Ribfeast for two has a full rack of delicious St. Louis ribs, 4 sides, 2 pieces of garlic bread and a choice of appetizer or dessert. I ordered 1/2 baby back ribs with 2 sides and a piece of garlic toast. The ribs are inedible and if I hadn't ordered carryout, I would have returned them immediately. They are dried out and no juice to provide any real flavor. The sides of beans and french fries were passable, but only just. I take this as a way to discard old leftovers to unsuspecting carryout customers. Regardless, I won't be back to this place. I'll find a bbq joint that knows how to cook ribs right so the meat almost falls off the bone. The Smokey Bones ribs I just tried to eat would take a hammer to get the meat off - but might be asking too much of the hammer. I came early on a Saturday around 11:30 am. It was quiet and near empty, which is what I love during these COVID times. I also came here to get the mac and cheese. My friends brought a package from the restaurant for dinner one night and it was so good that I needed to come back and have it again. Quick stop for a small snack and a beer after a long drive. I was seated promptly after a quick trip to the ladies room to wash my hands. VA still does not allow seating at the bar, due to COVID restrictions, but they do have tables arranged around the bar area. I sat down and I was immediately greeted and a drink brought to me, super fast! The guy that took that order was not going to be my waiter, but he worked in tandem with the bartender. I wasn't quite ready to order, but was asked a few times, which was great service (I was taking my time, as I was multi-tasking, not their fault I was slow!). I ordered the pulled pork tacos, which were pretty flavorful. The pickled onions and jalapeños worked well and the bbq sauce added just enough sweetness to balance it out. My reason for the 3 stars is that 90% of the staff, kitchen staff, and hostesses were either not wearing a mask at all or they were worn improperly (below their noses). Both people that were waiting on me wore their masks properly the entire time, even "behind the scenes", which is not really behind the scenes when it's in plain sight of everyone. read more

I also would like to state the employees need training on proper knowledge on the menu, and what the restaurant has to offer. And if ur an All flats type of person, this restaurant DOES NOT do it. This was our first time at Smokey Bones at this location. The greeter, or the lady who sits you down, was a bit dry in presence. She sat us in the left-corner booth of the restaurant; we had a dirty seat cover and chair. I was going to inform her, but she just placed the menu down without saying, "Your server will be correct with you, and she walked away. Our waitress was great, professional, and provided customer service, although there were a few hiccups with not getting the order right. We had a kids' meal with applesauce, and she brought fries. My hubby ordered sweet potato fries, and she brought regular fries. Also, my lemonade glass was dirty, but she brought me another one. Now, the food is the valid reason for the two stars. All the food was lukewarm. It took about 10-15 minutes to get our food. Everything here is mostly already prepped and should be re-heated. I am not sure why the food was lukewarm and not hot. It was room-temperature food and not fresh at all. After touching the toast on my plate, I requested another Texas toast. It took the cooks another 10 minutes to cook a fresh toast. I've only been to this restaurant once and the experience wasn't great but I decided to give it a second chance. I was so disappointed in the food and in the staff. I feel as though the only pro to this place is that it's located in Town Center so the area is nice. When my friend and I were seated, it took 30 min for the waiter to even come by and get our drink order. I asked a question about one of the drinks and he didn't even know the answer and just said he didn't know. I ended up going with the Sweet Bourbon Peach Tea which was a terrible mistake. I think it has to be one of the worst drinks I've ever had. It tasted like they just gave me a glass of lemon juice it was so sour! For my meal, I got the volcano burger which was suppose to come with two different sauces on it and when I recieved it, it had none. The burger was so dry and the bacon tasted burnt. My friend ordered the pulled pork sandwhich with baked beans and all of it tasted burnt too! When we asked for our check, it took 15 minutes to recieve and then another 10 for the waiter to pick it up. We were never checked up on and the waiter just seemed like he didn't want to be there. Such a disappointment! We were looking forward to dinner at this location. It didn't seem busy while we were there and other patrons were sitting or waiting for checks. We were seated without delay but that's where our service ended. We waited for a waitress to take our drink and food orders or even acknowledge us but it never happened. We decided to leave after 20 minutes and try someplace else. We did stop at the front before leaving to ask but they didn't seem to know anything. I had dinner at Smokey Bones Town Center area this evening. It seemed to be about half full when I arrived at about 7:00pm. The host directed me to the bar when I mentioned it would just be me. I probably could have been given a table or booth if I asked. The bar was OK. I ended up having two tall beers which cost $8.75 and $8.25 respectively. It's amazing to me what the price of beer is these days. I also had 6 smoked Memphis wings $9.99 (couldn't discern any smoke personally) and the Double Trouble rib item ( about 4ribs in each of two 1/3 slabs) and two sides, double broccoli in my case. The sauced slab was cool, very much not fall off the bone, and not tasty. The other was what I expect from ribs and was good and warm. The broccoli was fine. Total with tip was a lot more than I think it was worth. But, you may feel differently. read more

Smokey Bones is always a great place for our family to eat at. It has a smoke house feel. Never require a reservation. However on busy nights, wait times can get up to 45min. Services is always great. Never have a problem with good customer services. Every single staff member from the host to the servers have always been very nice. The food is as expected of a franchise. It is not the best but also not the worst. It is good for kids and good for the price you pay. Ribs can be slightly salty. Beer can be flat at times. Salmon can be dry. Brisket can be fatty and not meaty. On the positive side, Baby Back ribs do fall off the bone, which is really good. They have a variety of sauces to pick from at the table. Louisiana style is meaty and good but definitely recommend the dry rub. They change up the menu often and can take off some good items away. We were disappointed to discover the milkshakes were taken off the menu. However, they do have a really good apple pie with vanilla ice cream served in an iron skillet. read more

Smokey bones is definitely a chain. It gives off that Chilis vibe. Place was clean. When we walked in we were promptly greeted and asked if we could sit at the bar. The bar was nice. Big and open. and plenty of TVs. We watched womens track which was a nice change from watching your average basketball, baseball, and football. Our bartender was quick and courteous. Getting us exactly what we wanted. Noise level was average and perfect. Food was good, but nothing to write home about. We got a sampler platter. Although I cant seem to find its actual name on the online menu now. Hopefully they didn't pull it. I thought it was great for a first timer who wants to try a little bit of everything this place has to offer. We had steak, ribs, chicken, wings, and sausage with some veggies and potato fries on there. It came on a little grill to keep everything warm. Everything was good. Average. Things you could make at home if you had a grill and knew how to use it. I wouldn't shoot this place down because if you're low carb or keto then this is a great option for you! and its close to the theater so its a good spot to hit before your movie. We went to the SB on Jefferson Ave in NN for my niece's 28th birthday celebration. I was 1st to arrive, 12 mins later, I'm still standing there. Employees saw me, but no one came to seat me. So I walked to the kitchen, & asked for the manager. Roz came out, I explained the above, she apologized & began to assist us (by then most of our party arrived.) Roz checked & said she had no reservation for us. My niece made the reservation days prior, & called the day of & confirmed. There were only 4 other customers inside when our party was finally seated. Our very kind waitress Tiffany took our drink & appetizer orders. However, it was a very long time til the appetizers arrived. In the interim,Roz brought me a large plate of wings, & 2 large plates of individual cornbreads to compensate me for waiting so long to be seated. That was so lovely!! The wings were so hard & overcooked, but the cornbread was warm & absolutely delicious!! Tiffany later took our entree orders, they slowly began to pour in almost an hour later. Some of our party waited over an hour. After we were done with our appetizers, no one came to remove our dishes, so we placed them neatly on a nearby table, where they remained the entire time. Finally our food arrived. 5 ppl ordered ribeyes & sirloins. They were all very tough to chew. My eldest son was 1st to return his, & he loves a good steak! One lady held hers up with a knife, we all laughed bec it looked as hard & stiff as a cellphone. My sister's med rare ribeye was so hard, she tried to keep quiet, but she finally had to return it. Thankfully Tiffany refunded their money for the inedible steaks. My mushroom Swiss burger, which I was so excited to get, was so hard & tasteless, I was shocked. But I didn't dare complain bec I already voiced a complaint earlier, & Roz compensated me. Sadly, several others in our party said they're food was terribly subpar. 15 outta 17 of our orders were so awful. Was their real chef off work that evening⁉ So we were ready to serve the cake my sister bought, but we 1st had to clear the table--for the 2nd time!! We piled our dinner dishes atop another table. Not 1 time did staff come & clear the dishes. They all remained on the 2 tables on which WE placed. We didn't understand that bec the restaurant was almost empty until 9pm. Our party arrived at 6pm. There were empty tables all around us. Yet we all tipped Tiffany very nicely bec that's what we do. She was very kind. She continually refilled our drinks, & checked on us a couple times. Roz, the manager, was really great, however bec the issues we encountered were so numerous & too hard to overlook, we plan to never again dine at Smokie Bones, nor will we recommend it to anyone. read more

The wife and I used to eat here pretty regularly before Covid and had fond memories of the food. Today being our wedding anniversary and stuck at home with a sick child we decided to Door Dash some Smokey Bones since it had been awhile and we were in a mood for some BBQ. We ordered the family meal with pulled pork and bbq chicken. Cole slaw, street corn and loaded potatoes rounded out our meal with some Mac n chz for the kids. The sides were excellent which is the only reason this isn't a 1 star review but the chicken and the pork were so dry and tough we could barely chew it no less swallow. The 50 or so napkins they gave us came in handy at least since we had to drown everything in sauce just to get it down. Luckily my wife is not one to complain but if this is the standard they have now it'll be a lot longer than two more years before I order from them again. Kudos to DoorDash for getting the order to us about 10 minutes before the estimated time though. Small consolation for $90 wasted with tax tip and delivery fees. read more
