We've ate here about six times this summer. The food is always good, but the service on the deck is poor. Its like we are forgotten. The deck is nice, you get good sun and a nice view, so we continued to come back. However, I used the men's room for the first time this weekend and holy smokes is it dirty! I'm not talking about paper on the ground or a dirty sink. I am talking about liquid that had been splashed on the painting and left to dry a long time ago, the tiles on the floor and wall are just filthy, the grout is disgusting, the corners were probably too dirty for a spider to hang out. It was just nasty! I believe there's only two options to fix; demolish and begin again or a high pressure washer. If its that bad in there, what's it like in the kitchen? read more

We checked out Smokin Dave's on the recommendation of a friend and found it wonderful. Our waiter Luis was very attentive and very informative. I had the meatloaf and my friend had the mixed plate of pork, brisket and sausage. It was wonderful. There was enough for me to have two meals of it. One of the best BBQ's we've visited. read more

We always look forward to going to either this one or the one in Estes Park. We like the brisket and nachos. We will still give it a go, but after going here on Saturday, it really made us do some head scratching. Nachos were good and the brisket was tasty, but half of my wife's wrap was soggy and my coleslaw was disgusting. I really believe it had sat out too long and was bad. One bite was more than enough. Also not sure if the waitstaff is overwhelmed or what, but the heart just wasn't into it. Hostess was really nice and worth every penny. Hit or miss at this location. We always have something missing from our order when we do takeout. I keep going back because the ribs are so amazing. I have learned to not ask for too many items, because inevitably there will be an item that doesn't make it into the bag. read more

I'm not a BBQ fan, but I'll go to Smokin Dave's anytime. The salad with BBQ topping is delicious and filling, and my wife likes the ribs and chicken. But for me, the attraction is the beer list. Amazing! So much better than Oskar Blues, which is right around the corner. The list changes frequently, and they bring in microbrews from all over. So, I've been a couple times, but to be honest, they seem to be losing their way. The BBQ is fantastic, the meats are good, the sauces are good, it's good BBQ with big portions BUT Their sides, which used to be great are going downhill and the last time we were there, the service was not so hot. Smoking Dave's, I hope you are reading this, I want you to do great. We went in on a Friday for lunch. I realize it's the off season and lunch isn't a big deal in Lyons, but hey, you're open, the prices are the same, I expect the same experience. There were 3 tables at 12:30. Another guy came in later, but he wandered around for literally 5 minutes waiting for someone to get off smoke break or whatever to get a seat. I would have never been that patient and would have left. Considering they only had 3 tables, that would have been a big chunk of their lunch business walking out the door. We ordered an appetizer, we got the onion rings since that was probably the smallest appetizer on there. (they do have big portions). yes, homemade, but no, not good. no seasoning, no flavor, just overcooked chewy mealy tasting coating on sweet onions. I mean so bad we didn't finish it bad. Greasy and Bland!!!! I ordered a Reuben sandwich which was made with smoked corned beef and was really quite good. The fries were good and tasty. My wife ordered a 2 meat platter with chicken and beef. The chicken, as usual, was really moist and flavorful and the beef is damn good. She ordered it with a side of mashed potato's and corn. too bad that isn't what she got. THERE'S 3 TABLES IN THE WHOLE RESTAURANT, HOW CAN YOU GET IT WRONG???? She got red beans and rice and one year old ear of corn. The red beans and rice were utterly flavorless. No seasoning, no flavor, nothing. just mush. The corn was flat nasty. Ok, it's off-season, but if it's not good take it off the menu. She got the masher's after a few minutes that were runny with no flavor. Not at all like they have been in the past. pretty disappointing experience. I will give them another shot, but they need to go back to what they were doing. read more

Just had some Smokin Daves last night for the first time. I will definitely be back for some of that delicious BBQ. I had the beef brisket which was great topped with the spicy bbq sauce. Also the bbq beans and sweet potato fries were very tasty as well as the corn bread. All in all a great meal. Smokin Daves also has a great beer selection. After eating that delicious BBQ we went and played pinball. It doesn't get any better than that. Well worth the trip from Boulder, can't wait to go back. read more

We are Lyons locals and love going to Smokin Daves for dinner! The BBQ is great! Favorites on the menu include the Taphouse Burger... Smokin Philly Sandwich and the ribs. Great salads too. All the ingredients are fresh and good selection of beers on tap. Live music several days again. This place!!!! I'm happy to know it's a chain. I was also Sh*tting myself when I found out the sauces are all gluten free. Also whatever the sauce they served with the stuffed potatoes I wanted to drink. It was probably just BBQ and mayo, but it is amazing. Also, it's CHEAP! Service was fast, simple casual quaint atmosphere. Asking for separate checks wasn't a problem. There was a guy playing a guitar and singing the entire time we were here and usually live music can be too loud and distracting, but we were literally sitting right next to him and it was never an issue. I loved eating the food. Good Lunch ! The shredded pork melted in my mouth. (My bun was not overly toasted.) I enjoyed the varied selection of barbecue sauces sitting on the table and the cole slaw was memorably good. I brought home leftovers as the protions were very generous. My husband loved tasting the leftovers. He makes his own bottled barbecue sauce and he is a picky about his barbecue. I have recomended several people to drive to Lyons ( frm. Boulder !) and try the barbecue at Smokin Dave's. I enjoyed the wall decor, level of cleaniness, available parking, and size of the restaurnat (not too small). The out door seating area looked like a great place for a party. (We sat indoors to eat) The food servers were friendly, attentive, clean and aiming to please. Prices seemed to be right.
