I've come here for lunch on 3 separate occasions and have eaten out on the deck each time. The first time I had a chicken burrito, the second time I had the southwest salad, and yesterday I had the perch sandwich. I enjoyed all 3 options and I've got a photo of the perch sandwich here (I added fries for a small up-charge) - don't mind the shadows from being outside. I've been to snug harbor a few times and have always had a pleasant experience. However the last time I went, the prices seemed to have gone way up. Not sure if the quality of the food is worth the $$$ (especially in the winter time!) but it is a nice spot on the water and a grand haven staple. read more

Instead of waiting an hour for outdoor seating we decided to sit inside. The inside is a little old looking and outdated but was clean. The service was not great however the food and drinks were. The jerk chicken bowl was fresh with lots of flavor. I personally had the chicken quesadilla and really enjoyed it. Our seat had a great view looking at the channel and walkway. My wife and I live in Grand Haven and don't eat out a lot. When we do choose to eat out we really appreciate good service and good food. In the past month long-time friends from Cincinnati, and separately Scottsdale, came to visit. None of our guests had been to Grand Haven before and were only here for a day. Both times we chose to take them to Snug Harbor and Jelly's. They were thrilled with the food and the service was great. A couple of the friends love Sushi, about which I know very little. They were blown away with the quality and portions they were served. They added Jelly's to their list of favorite places to get excellent Sushi. I want to thank the General Manager who went out of her way to accommodate our small group on short notice. I would also like to offer a special mention to Jordan, our server. read more

A-Ok in almost every way. Just average. But the view of the boats bouncing along the river on a sunny day? That's pure Michigan. Come for the drinks; stay for the view. This place is quite busy on a warm day when everyone wants to dine on the deck. The deck is elevated a full floor from the ground, offering a prime lookout to enjoy the water view. I don't think there are many other restaurants in Grand Haven that sit this close to the water. The outdoor space is large and we didn't have to wait more than a few minutes for a table. Shade, however, is not the best. Bring sunglasses! Shortly after being seated near the edge, we asked our server if we could move to a shadier spot in the center. This seemed to throw a wrench in the grand seating plan as our server had to talk to two other employees to accommodate us, but we eventually got to move out of the direct sun. We all ordered craft beers which come in their bottles ($4-6 each). We didn't try the food, although what I saw looked good and well-portioned. read more

The food was just ok. Frankly, as I am writing this, we can't even remember what we ate - chicken wrap, mac and cheese, fish and chips. Expensive check for ok food. What a disappointment! Whitefish pate was good - but there was maybe 1-2 Tbsp of the pate. Thai salad was basically cabbage with a very odd flavored dressing on it. Jerk chicken burrito was not good - meat was minced to the point of being almost puréed and was totally flavorless, and the tortilla was very doughy/soggy. The food is nothing great. The view is amazing and that is what you are paying high prices for. My Dads fish was so over fried and dry. I was actually really surprised they even served it to us. You would think with a name like snug harbor....maybe the fish would be okay. No! The waffle fries were room temp at best. The service was fine and the manager even paid us a visit to see how we were doing. Now of course they are struggling with having enough help like many restaurants but man!! I'm probably not going back. They did comp desserts for our table of 6 which was classy and the key lime pie was very good! read more

our server was very friendly. we could not understand why they decided to pressure wash the driveway during the dinner rush. it was loud and the chemicals were quite stinky. it really ruined our dining ambiance. the food was tasty, the view spectacular but the noise was very annoying. it seems to me there are far better options for pressure washing times than during the dinner rush. read more

We visited snug harbor today today at 230p. No wait to sit and a beautiful view but the food and service was disappointing. The two of us ordered lettuce wraps and side Cesar salads. The wraps came out after 20 mins. Each piece of lettuce had dirt on it. After sharing with the waitress she looked at it and said I'll have to share with the cooks to clean the lettuce better. Next thirty minutes we waited for our side Cesar salads (no chicken ordered). It was dry, minimal lettuce and two tomatoes. The wait time for our food and service was disappointing. We were so excited to try a new restaurant but will not be returning. If you are looking to go to snug harbor- skip the trip and grab pronto pups (which we did after) read more

We ordered the Seafood Clay pot, seafood enchiladas and a fillet mignon, Along with a 19 crimes Cabernet. The filet mignon and the seafood enchiladas were both very good. The seafood clay pot was very tasty but seem to be lacking in the quantity of the shrimp and scallops. Next time we think we will try the fried perch which a few people also ordered and looked very good. Spectacular views all around when dining out side. Service was great! The Crab Rangoon dip was unreal and I got the Seafood Fettuccine for dinner. The Fettuccine was one of the best dishes I've had in awhile. The view from the outdoor patio was beautiful as well. After dinner we went to the bar on the bottom level and had amazing drinks. Service, food, and atmosphere were all great. My wife and I chose this place after our original destination had far too long of a wait. We sat behind the restaurant on the back patio with a good view of the sunset and it was a great place to watch the ships. She ordered the mushroom au gratin and the seafood Alfredo while I got the white chicken chili and the jerk chicken bowl. I loathe mushrooms but my wife said the au gratin was delicious, as was her Alfredo. My chili tasted great and I was surprised by the large portion. The jerk chicken bowl was a mountain of food and I took some home. My one regret was not asking for sour cream on the side. We had a great time and I highly recommend this place. I reserved a table of 10 in April for my sisters bachelorette weekend in May. We had heard great things about this place, how great the atmosphere, food, and service were, and that it would be perfect for our trip. Unfortunately, our first impression was less than stellar. Our waitress started out by making jokes about how we needed a mocktail menu and that we should stay away from the bread for fear of what we'll look like (she proceeded to stick her stomach out and puff out her cheeks). Okay, maybe just a weird sense of humor, no big deal. We were seated at 630, placed our orders for food around 7. The place was very busy so we were happy to be patient. Apparently it was prom night for the local high schools which we were unaware of, as we came from the east side of Michigan. When 8 o'clock rolled around, we were still in good spirits and making the most of our time together. Then our waitress came over to inform us the kitchen had run out of rice.. most of us had ordered a dish with rice in it. Again, we were understanding, as she could not control what happened in the kitchen. So we decided we would go out by the harbor to take a few photos since we were losing day light and our food would take another 30 minutes to be ready. The manager was kind enough to call us back inside when our food was at the table. When we got inside, we were still missing 3 of our girls entrees. We also noticed that half of our meals had about half the amount of rice as the others. I barely had a half cup of rice in my sushi bowl, while others had a good amount. It was obvious a few of us got the very last bit that was portioned out before they made more rice. It was dry and the meal itself was so small and I was still hungry afterward. When the other entrees came out, one of them was the wrong order. We told our waitress but decided not to send it back because it was already 9pm. They did make us a new one to send home with us though. As our waitress was cashing us out, she made another comment about how we "should have planned better so you weren't here on prom night". Excuse me?? How were we supposed to know coming from across the state?? That pushed me over the edge. She proceeded to get extremely frustrated at the fact that all of our bills were also wrong. We waited another 20 minutes for her to get them right, and a storm was starting to roll in across the water. She made some comment about avoiding the rain but at this point, we were just trying to leave and she was holding us up. We sent most of our group home when they were paid up, and then waited more. The waitress sat herself down and continued to work through all her tickets, handed me mine, and told me to read her the ticket number so she could cash us out. I was in disbelief. Once I was cashed out, I left to go get the car so my sister and her friends did not have to walk in the rain. When I picked them up, they said that the manager had come over to apologize and asked for our numbers. After everything that happened I was glad they seemed like they were going to make it right, but it has now been 2 weeks and no one has called about the situation. I am so upset my sisters bachelorette dinner went so poorly at this establishment and nothing has been done to makeup for it. Any plans we had following the dinner were cancelled because we were there for so long and we all just wanted to go back to our airbnb and eat because we were still hungry! I might be a little biased...seeing as the term "Snug" might be the most commonly used word in my vocabulary besides "o.k." or "yes". Snug Harbor is actually a little bit more upscale (in decor) than you might think by just the outsides. Snug Harbor restaurant is located in the downstairs part of the establishment overlooking the water. There is a nice dark bar with a fireplace and a lot of seating facing the water. We got right it at about 8:30 on a Sunday before Memorial Day. Right away, we saw mussels on the menu and knew we had to have them. They were fantastic! Not at all fishy, quite large, and perfectly seasoned. We've tried a few mussel plates up in Chicago and the Snug Harbor mussels were by far, the best. We had some cheap red house wine and I ordered the portobello sandwich which was really juicy. On their menu, they had a lot of mexican options which also caught my eye... The beau (my snug) had The Chicken Duxelle which he devoured (as is tradition). Our server was super friendly and the experience was great. We happened to be staying right across from Snug Harbor so it was safe to say we've def be trying it out. read more

Worst restaurant experience I've ever had! After being seated at 3 different tables (their mistakes), we finally had a table (in the middle even though better tables were available) and a kind gentleman we had spoken to while walking in brought us pronto pups. (Stand right outside of the restaurant-a small hotdog on a stick.) We were seated outside. A waitress with an attitude immediately came over and told us that we could not have that there. We told her we were planning to order dinner and drinks and someone just handed them to us. Since it's a small snack, they were almost gone. She immediatly want to get who I preseume was her manager (although you would not know this from her customer service level.) She litterally came charging toward us yelling, "We are not seating for pronto pups." Now that the entire restaurant was staring at us, we just got up and left. I've gone there for over 25 years. Never, ever will any of us step foot in there again after how we were embarrassed by someone else trying to be kind to us! Very short sighted. They lost out not only on our business for that night but fir all future nights as well. I fully understand they are not seating for outside food....but if they had just handed us a menu we would have ordered! Tuesday was Ladies night, so half off of certain items; Wine, Martinis, small plate foods and others. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and they were amazing, small plate is just a fancy term for appetizer, VERFY good portion for 2. My date ordered the Jerk Chicken bowl and was amazed (not small portion either). I had the seafood pasta, NAILED it. drinks were good and strong, HIGHLY Recommend or your missing out.
