Really cute small Korean shop in the corner. They have a good amount of stuff when you need it since the nearest Korean mart is 50 minutes away. Employees are really sweet and haven't had a bad experience. Of course some items can be overpriced, but what isn't nowadays. The one place for Korean ingredients in the area and super nice staff. A lot of common Korean ingredients are hard to find in the Dublin area, even in large markets like 99 Ranch that carry some of the basics. Sodam is small, but I was able to find naengmyeon and jjolmyeon to make some refreshing summer dishes. The staff person there was super friendly, and even offered me some free chive pancakes from their prepared foods section. Will definitely return to try some kimbap and tteokbokki. read more

TLDR; my fave Korean shop to stop for food/meals when traveling from San Jose to Sacramento (or Sacramento to San Jose)! Shop small and enjoy fresh food for a reasonable price! I found this place on Yelp during one of my drives from Sacramento to San Jose. Korean food. One dollar sign on Yelp. On the way to San Jose. Alright, we're stopping in! There is a refrigerated section, where they sell kimchi as well as other Korean refrigerated goods. There is also a small cart in the center that divides the store from the restaurant side (now closed because of the virus). The cart is filled with different types of Korean baked goods and sweets. Once you make your way to the register, there is a small board that lists the different hot foods, drinks, and desserts they offer. Near the register, there is also an assortment kimbap and seafood or chive pancakes. Through our drives, we've been able to try quite a few things and have figured out our favorites, such as the fishcake and beef kimbap, the ddeok bokki, the seafood and chive pancake, and the Korean shaved ice (bing soo, seasonal item). All of the foods are made fresh daily. If you order the ddeok bokki or the shaved ice, be sure to leave a little bit of extra time, as it is made to order. The only thing my husband and I would not recommend is the shikhye (sweet rice drink). My husband and I had ordered it to try. It had an interesting flavor...sweet with a bit of tartness and a lot of rice. Perhaps it requires some acquired taste to appreciate it, but my husband and I ordered it that one time and never again. We haven't purchased any goods from the refrigerated section, but there are a lot of drinks, kimchi, seaweed, and other side dishes available. They share a small parking area with other shops. Parking was difficult depending on timing pre-COVID, but it's easy peasy now. read more

Had my usual non pregnant food cravings and was looking for something quick, healthy, and delicious. This place fit the bill and the other bill in the wallet. I ordered the fish cake kimbap and it was ready in seconds. Only $5! I came an hour before they closed so their ready made selection was low but that doesn't matter. Just order at the counter. Lots of pickled items in the fridge that I will have to try when I come back. Small parking lot but people move quickly in and out of the area. Price was awesome and my stomach is happy. I love coming to Sodam to grab Korean side dishes and authentic korean soups. They have all kinds of kimchi you can think of such as three different brands of cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi, square cut radish kimchi, and long radish kimchi with leaves. If you are craving for simple korean side dishes like anchovy, black sweet beans, dried squid, or vegetables that go into bibimbap, I would highly recommend this place. They also have really good quick grabs like spicy rice cake, soondae (pork intestine skin with noodles-- may sound little gross but it tastes like glass noodles wrapped with thin sausage skin), and fish cake soup. There aren't many Korean markets in the Bay Area. Although Sodam is small, it definitely satisfies! Their kimchi, kimbap rolls and marinated pork always fill my Korean food cravings. I think it's hard to find good kimchi because it can be too thick, not flavorful, etc. However, Sodam's kimchi is the best I've ever bought from a store - I even wish that most Korean restaurants would use their kimchi too. In addition, they are super safe and strongly enforce social distancing guidelines; there is a plastic shield at the counter and the option to use Apple Pay. We've been coming here for a while now. If u crave kimbop (korean sushi rolls), this is the place to be. They have beef, fish cake, kimchee kimbops). They also have a fridge where they store lots of different dish options and buckets of kimchees. They also serve dokbokki (spicy rice cake), oh-dang soup (fish cake soup), shikei (sweet rice dessert drink). I like their minimal menu, u come in and out quickly. They also sell other types of korean snacks like the mochi and such. So if u crave some authentic korean food around this area, highly recommend u stopping by here to check it out. Sodam is located in a very unassuming location right behind a busy gas station. If you aren't looking for it, you could very easily miss it. However, this is a hidden gem that you cannot miss out! My friends and I always come here, since I was in high school, for a very delicious and very filling kimbap roll. We usually can split one roll between two people, and it's all for ~$6. Our favorites are the beef and fishcake rolls! The pickled daikon is always so flavorful but not too sour as you might find in store-bought varieties. Other favorites I've had from this restaurant are the multicolored Korean rice desserts that they have on the center island of the store. One single pack can nearly feed a whole family's dessert cravings for an evening, and my family already has difficulty eating the whole pack. When you buy them, make sure you have a crowd hungry! These go bad within a day or two of being left in the fridge but is so great fresh. The fridges are stocked with Korean side dishes that my family likes to buy to accompany a dinner at home. Kimchi can be bought in small jars, or in massive bags. You can really tell that everything is homemade because of its packaging, and you won't ever need to worry about how fresh it all is. What a nice little hidden treasure in Dublin!! I'm so glad I found this shop; it's very no-frills, but the food is delicious and my new go-to for fast, authentic Korean food. They offer refrigerated marinated meats (e.g. bulgogi, fish cake), side dishes, bibimbap kits, kimchi, rice cakes, and ready-to-eat meals (freshly made japchae, kimbap, scallion pancakes, kimchi fried rice, etc.). Sodam is like a Korean "deli" where you can get ingredients for your own meals at home and/or buy some quick comfort food. I love not having to sit down and wait at a restaurant for food, especially the kimbap. I always get the fish cake kimbap (2 rolls worth for approx $7) and they're always warm and fresh! The beef kimbap is approx $7 for 1 rolls worth. I have yet to try their kimchi fried rice, scallion pancakes, or other ready-to-eat dishes but they always look tempting. There's always steam on the food containers so it's obvious they're freshly made and still warm. I love coming here for lunch when I'm pressed for time. Love this mom and pop shop for some quick and easy ready to go kimbap! They have a pretty simple menu with a few types of kimbaps (korean sushi) and a couple other korean street snacks. I have had the beef kimbap a few times and it is always so fresh and satisfying with the marinated bulgogi inside! You really can't beat the pricing at $5 for a large roll, enough for 1.5 servings! They also have a small market at the front of the store with fresh noodles, kimchi, and a variety of sweet dessert rice cakes that are wrapped and ready to pick up. Quick take: Homemade fast food So this is a little gem on the West side of Dublin. I didn't know about it until I read a fellow Yelper's ROTD. Lovely concept. Small prepared foods mini mart/eatery. A lot of prepared foods in a refridgerated section. I bought an order of marinaded bulgogi to cook for dinner. For instant eats I bought a tray of colorful dessert style rice cakes, beef kimbap, and a sweet rice drink. All very fresh, flavorful, and super fast. Everything was pre-made and ready to eat. I will definitely be back. Side note: The dessert rice cakes have a combination of seasame oil, rice cake, and honey flavor. My palate was a little confused. This is a new experience for me. I can say I am not use to eating this combo but it is very good after the 3rd or 4th piece. Parking lot is a little small. Not sure how parking is during peak times. Once you are inside getting something to eat and drink is super convenient. I would recommend Sodam to anyone who likes eating Korean food. This small business is easy to miss, it's tucked away in a corner of a tiny plaza (free parking!). Love supporting this mom-and-pop shop, I've been going for a bit over a year and only ever disappointed if something's not in stock! As someone who was blessed with living near Koreatown in LA, finding good (and decently priced) Korean food is quite difficult in the Bay, especially these street food/comfort snacks for whatever odd reason. Kimbap is always top quality and aesthetically beautiful, rice:everything else ratio is amazing. Note: I always come back because of the soondae as someone who didn't particularly like this snack, this place knows how to make it taste PERFECT. While I was in line I grabbed some rice cake and then got all the hot stuff when I got to the front and ordered my kimbaps. Prices have gone up but still reasonable enough that you'll want to get a lot. 1. rice cake with red bean \ (**) / ~yummm will get again. 2. rice cake with mung bean powder (^_^)/not bad-~will skip next time 3. Pollock with egg\ (**) /~yumm would get again. My husband isn't Korean and said it didn't have any flavor. But I was raised on it so tasted so good. 4. Blood sausage \ (**) / ~husband didn't like it...dad loooved it said it's the "best he ate in the states! They know how to make it right." 5. (2) Burdock kimbap (^_^)/ ~next time I'll skip this and get all bulgogi or get fishcake since it comes with 2. Can't really taste the burdock and it comes with fishcake in it. 6. I love this little Korean mini store. They sell different varieties of food, cooked and refrigerated. In the refrigerator section, there were: spicy octopus, squid, burdock, fish cake, spicy fish cake, etc.. Beef kimbap, fishcake kimbap, japchae and several other items that looked delicious but I do not know their names. Will try them next time. I bought: Fishcake kimbap - fresh flavors and I had some for an afternoon snack Spicy octopus - Little pieces of octopus mixed in with a red spicy sauce which is good to eat with some rice Japchae - Simple noodle dish with a lot of flavor - definitely a favorite Fishcake - They were out of the spicy fishcake, but this gave me a chance to taste the dish without the spices. I've been wanting to try this place since forever but I'm usually in the area on Sundays after church and they dont open on Sundays :( Finally I was in the area on a thursday so I could come here. I ordered the beef kimbap and fish cake. They have fridges and shelves full of korean snacks and food, all so tempting and they also have topokki that looks so good, maybe next time. It's such a nice mom and pop family business that sells snacks, treats, and food that you can order dine-in style or to-go. I first came here because I wanted a quick snack before going to the gym. They had pre-made kimbap in the beef variety and the fish are variety. I ended up getting one of each. Most of it was eaten before I even arrived at the gym. It was such a satisfying decision at that moment, and then a not-so smart decision at the gym. I keep thinking about the kimbap and ended up stopping by before embarking on my trip to Yosemite. I thought they had ran out for the day, but they make it to-order when it's towards the end of the day and they don't want to waste ingredients. The lady that was working in the front is always so sweet. A slight language barrier, but the menu is simple enough that you can navigate that without much difficulty. They have small to medium containers of various types of ban-chan, so you can enjoy without having to spend money in bulk. My favorite would have to be the seaweed and the spicy fish cake. But giving five stars because the lady there is so nice, and the food is great for the price. Came here a couple of times pre-covid and I like the whole little snack bar feel. They have a wide selection of banchan / side dishes. It's like a pseudo grocery / mini mart. The make a lot of their banchan and so far I've only had the radish kimchi but it's great! Their beef kimbap is also pretty good if you wanna try sushi but you don't like fish and also I like that it's very vegetable heavy. Had the Ddeokbokki here and it's pretty good, especially with cheese. It's kinda spicy but that's expected honestly. I'm not the biggest fan of ddeok since it's easy for me to get tired of them after the 3rd bite but I usually finish a lot of it. Overall, I'll continue coming back here to get some banchan and maybe try bingsoo or the citron slush. read more
