Gyro was good. Spicy Feta Fries left much to be desired. $30 seems like a high price point for a Gyro and Fries yet here we are. Can't get around and find value pricing. Liked the little outdoor patio area and the fact that I could put in a food order via phone (instead of just DoorDash). If I was in the area I probably wouldn't tab it on my go-to places but overall a decent but pricey lunch.

Edit: HEALTH SCORE is C... I didn't know that before coming. Definitely not coming back!!!!! I was really looking forward to Sofeh because Persian food is one of my favorites and since we were already in Monterey Park it was an easy drive to their Los Angeles location. The reviews were strong so I went in with high hopes. Parking was the first headache because it's extremely limited around the area and we ended up walking from a few houses away after circling for a while. When we arrived, we realized it's all outdoor seating with no indoor option and on a warm sunny day that definitely made things uncomfortable. We approached the lady at the window to figure out how to order since there were no clear signs and the setup was a bit confusing. She wasn't outright rude but she wasn't friendly either, and that lack of warmth made the first impression feel cold. We ordered the lamb chops, chicken, and beef mix plate which came out to around sixty dollars for two people. The food took about twenty minutes to come out and you could tell it was freshly grilled by the smell, which I appreciated. When the food arrived it looked great and the portions were fair. The lamb chops were juicy and flavorful, the chicken was tender, and the beef was average. The rice had good texture and the salad was fine, but the sauces were laughably tiny, barely enough for a few bites. Unfortunately the biggest issue wasn't the food but the bugs. There were flies and bees constantly landing on the table and buzzing around our plates which made it impossible to relax. We tried to enjoy our meal but spent most of the time swatting them away. The fans they had running helped a little but not enough to make a difference. Another major disappointment was the lack of a restroom. For a restaurant serving food that you eat with your hands, that's a serious problem. They had hand sanitizer available but it's not the same as being able to wash your hands properly. Overall I would give Sofeh three out of five stars. The food itself was tasty, especially the lamb chops, but the overall dining experience fell short. Between the bugs, lack of shade, confusing ordering system, and no restroom, it's not somewhere I'd dine in again. It's better suited for takeout because while the food has potential, the atmosphere just doesn't make it worth sitting down for.

First time visiting, and we had a great experience. We were greeted with a smile, and our food arrived quickly. The portions were generous, and we really enjoyed the patio seating. The décor is eclectic and adds to the restaurant's unique charm. We'll definitely be back again!

Ordered the lamb chop + chicken lule combo, some fries. Fries were delicious, but the lamb + chicken were rather dry, which was the main course of the meal. Portions are very generous. We definitely over ordered. Overall, a nice decently cheap meal. Good to stop by if it's convenient and you're hungry, but not worth a trek. Theres no indoor dining, but the patio area is pretty nice.

Second time here and came with my family. Beef lover plate was the best of the best. I never ate lamb and it was the bomb! Highly recommend this plate. Enjoy!

This is a small place with a very cute outdoor seating. There's not much shade from the sun though so bring your sunglasses or a hat. I got a plate of food. The chicken was flavorful but a bit dry. I'm not sure what the other meat was as it tasted funny. I really liked the salad though.

Celebrated my boyfriend's work anniversary here! It's a bit pricey (and their hummus portions are very small) but the portions make up for it. Everything's always fresh, service is quick and attentive. There's and indoor outdoor side patio with lots of seating. Parking can be a challenge to find sometimes. Overall a great spot to fill all your Mediterranean cravings!!

Ok I'm very familiar with great authentic food. I'm vegetarian so taboli, hummus, etc. Is important to me. I bought food for family as well which was neat products. There was no taboli which should be staple at a Mediterranean restaurant. My family said the food was tasteless. The service was your usual " Can I take your order"? The ambiance is inviting and prices a little high for the quality. Overall I go to different restaurants since my background we are experts in the business. read more

After passing by countless times, we finally decided to stop by. I am so glad that we tried it! The servings are huge, so don't be discouraged by pricing. You definitely get your money's worth. We ordered a chicken kabob plate and the spicy feta fries. Everything was delicious. The plates come with hummus, pita, rice pilaf, and salad. Again-- the serving is huge!!! Will return. Yes! I wholeheartedly recommend this place. My kids and I just had lunch here. The best. The very best. We had the beef combo, the chicken combo, the chicken pita, and more chicken. All amazingly tasty, juicy, and tender. I upgraded to their lentil rice. OMG what a great choice. Come. Run here. It is the best Persian food we've had in years! This was my first visit to Sofreh in East LA. I saw the Arabic name on the store front and decided to indulge my curiosity and love for mediterranean cuisine. The menu had all the staples including kofta, shawarma, kabobs, falafel, lamb chops, etc. I decided to be good and order the Greek salad with chicken kabobs. The presentation was beautiful, and the food was perfect. The lettuce, olives, feta and everything in the salad really were fresh and flavorful. The chicken was spiced and cooked to perfection. The dish came with hummus and pita. Needless to say I'm glad I stopped by. Come visit if you're looking for some healthy, quality mediterranean grub. Thanks Sofreh! read more

Great new place in East LA for Mediterranean food. I saw them on Instagram and they looked like they knew what they were doing. I explored the menu and saw they had a big combo plate that had everything, including lamb chops so I had to order it. I'm lucky my family are big eaters so we can get a Sofreh platter and pretty much finish everything they have in it. The Sofreh platter is also a bargain at $37 that includes everything you need for a mini feast. It comes in a big aluminum serving tray that has: - gyro slices - kubideh (or luleh) - lamb chops - grilled chicken breast - pita bread - salad - basmati rice - hummus It's really enough for 4-5 people and it will definitely make you full. The ingredients are all good quality and tasty and you can make whatever combination pita sandwich you want or just eat it like a combo plate with bread on the side. The staff is very friendly and they cook it on time for you to pick up. They used to have a patio for dine-in but that's gone for now but delivery is an option and if you order pick up, they will have it ready on time and bagged up with Saran Wrap and utensils too. I've eaten the Sofreh platter 3 times already since they opened and I love it. I don't know about their other combinations since the plates don't represent as good of a value as just getting the big tray. The other option, the beef lovers, might be a good alternative for those who prefer beef chunks and it's $4 more, I think. The drink selection is small. Their coffee is super strong though. Be careful when ordering unless you want to stay up a while. read more

Chicken Lule was a little on the salty side but the beef Lule and rice was good. Hope the next time I go the chicken Lule will not be salty. Also the pita bread and hummus that come with the meal was not enough considering the meat and rice ratio. read more

I have been here with my family more times than I can remember. We love it! We always order the sofreh dish (feeds 3). The plate has 5 different meats, and they're all so perfect. I've never had lamb before, but this place has made me fall in love with it. The sides and salads are also delicious as well. Finally tried this place on this sunny day. Nice outdoor tables. Brought mom. She had the dolmas and falafel plate. I have to say the falafel was not dry and had good flavor. The food here is amazing! My favorite is the chicken schwarma on pita. The Mediterranean fries are also delicious. But the best deal all around are the platters. The menu says that one platter can feed 3 people but really even if you had 4, you will still have leftovers. The staff are friendly and there is plenty of outdoor seating. Another tip is to call in your order. They're pretty quick but if there's a line, it could take awhile. read more

This was my family and I first time. We go the Sofreh plate that feeds 8 people (mind you it was 6 of us). The food was so fresh and delicious. We left no crumb left. We got take out from this spot to support local and try a new place. The reviews definitely do truly reflect the quality of the food here. I got their Lamb Chops and they were delicious even after eating them 1 hour after it was delivered. I really wish I would've had them fresh but it was still really good. Salad was refreshing and the rice was fluffy. I wish it came with some garlic or hot sauce though. read more

Really delicious food and great outdoor dining ambiance. My party tried several menu options: - 4.5/5 lamb chops - tender and flavorful, only regret was I should have requested medium rare (a bit over) - 4.5/5 gyro meat - juicy and well-seasoned without being too salty, the gyro meat is excellent - 4/5 grilled chicken kabob, tender and juicy, which is often not the case with grilled chicken. - 4/5 grilled beef kabob, delicious but I should have requested they cook to medium-rare, was over cooked - 4/5 ground beef lule, tender and well seasoned -3.5/5 ground chicken lule, quite tasty Upon request, the owner provided a yogurt based sauce similar to tzatziki which was wonderful with the food. The hummus... Was not our favorite and is an area where I think they can continue to improve. The quality of ingredients stood out in a positive way. The pita, mixed greens, and grilled veggies were great tasting. The overall experience, food and value were all excellent and recommended! read more

Absolutely fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and warm. When I arrived a fresh pot of lentil soup was ready. Let's just say it was the perfect compliment to warming a chilly night. I've been coming to Sofreh since they opened during the pandemic and not once have a seen a decline in service, quality of food, or overall satisfaction. It's clear that Sofreh caters to not just securing a customer, but customer value and customer positive experience. The Lule Kabob combo is a personal favorite, but I recommend EVERYTHING on the menu. I'm so grateful to have Mediterranean flavors in East LA. read more

It is not a sit inside restaurant if that's what you think as I did -i didn't read the fine print I guess. Order at the window then have a seat with a little pager. (It would be cool if they got it to play a little arab techno song when it goes off!) Paid 10 $ for about a little over a cup of lentil soup. No bread not even a cracker came with. Ordered pita bread on the side and it was dry and thin. Make sure you specify free water in a carafe , the default is bottled plastic for 2$. It's got potential though. Mediterranean food is healthy food. We need more in ELA. read more

The Tumeric braised chicken is amaaazzzinggg the chicken is so juicy and falls off the bone. The rice has some sort of crunchiness to it that compliments the entire flavor profile of the dish. This weekend, we have some friends visiting from San Francisco. As SF is a fantastic food town in its own right, we suggested two different food options that are better in L.A. than what you'll find up there: Korean BBQ or Persian food. The wife pushed a return to Javan. Alex, the manager, recommended the All Javan Combo for our party of 5. It includes tzatziki, hummus, salad, and flatbread to start followed by beef and chicken koobideh, chicken kabob, filet, lamb, and choice of rice. We added an eggplant stew with lamb shank and an extra skewer of chicken koobideh. Finished the meal off with hot tea, a sublimely-delicious saffron ice cream (house-made by Alex himself), baklava, and little bites that were like honey churro nubs. After we finished this feast of a meal, my daughter looked up at me and said, "This was one of the best Persian meals I've ever had." I must agree. This was a meal greater than the sum of its parts- food was very, very good and the experience was elevated by the warmth of Alex and his staff. It's rare that a restaurant works this hard to make its guests feel welcome. Free street parking and a full-bar (Alex is happy to whip-up a special cocktail for you). I give Javan my highest recommendation. Please eat here if you're in the mood for Persian food. Bon Appétit!

Discrepancies can elevate a dish but unfortunately I don't think the new management in the kitchen has any clue on culinary arts. If you lack that part in your business at least serve a warm dish with decent size rice which is cheap to buy or add some side greens that can fill a normal size man so I don't have to stop by In N Out after. Order 2 was chicken barg that was cold as our stews, tasteless and strange color to it which manager claimed it was a new marinate and also agreed it was small. Small portion and cold but yet they charged $28 for it. No mention if their cuts are organic or not is very troubling as the chicken felt it was frozen with a chewing texture and a strange aftertaste. The icing on cake was a $5 premium charge for a small bottle of sparkling water that's normally at most at local gas stations for a $1.90. The manager had the nerve to tell us they have been cutting back including the small slice of lemon that they used to offer with a glass of water. This place is a joke and ran by people that just care for money as they have been opening new locations with our support. They have forgotten when you claim superiority over other restaurants you better deliver as presentation is key which this restaurant lacks as well. Manager claimed they focus on healthy marinates and oils and provide healthy meals which as if he was selling me on a gym membership! Maybe he should save all that talk and had refunded my money. I paid, even gave a healthy tip as the server had nothing to do with it and I would have ordered desserts but everything on it was unhealthy and store bought contradictory to his long speech. Save your money and don't go here.

Simple, balanced, and incredibly satisfying. The pan-fried pork buns were the only disappointment. The filling felt underseasoned, and the bottoms lacked the crispy crust I was hoping for. They were fine, but not something I would order again. The beef noodle soup was solid. The broth was excellent, with a depth of flavor and spice profile that I really enjoyed. Everything about this place is incredible. Their food, the ambiance, and even the music played sets the mood for a fresh delicious meal with friends or family. I usually order food for pick-up (specifically the chicken lover's sofreh tray) and it never disappoints. The chicken is always tender, salad is always fresh with an incredible dressing, rice is always rich in flavor, and their hummus is one of the best I've had. Their garlic sauce that comes on the side is also one of the best sauces I've come across. Seriously sets the bar high. Today I had lunch in house with a friend of mine for the first time and it was a pleasant experience. Their personnel are extremely nice and helpful. They had a couple tables setup for mother's day but Ami and Leslie secured a table for my friend and I. My friend was also a big fan and was very happy with everything. I'll definitely continue to be a loyal Sofreh regular. It is one of the best options for fresh delicous food in the East Los Angeles area. The owner Angelica was so nice & sweet. She went out of her way to go grab her jacket and put it over my shoulder as a blanket because it was raining that day we went and sitting is only outdoors. Doesn't look like much when driving by.... but being that I'm a HUGE fan of Mediterranean food, my husband & I decided to give it a try. I THANK GOD we tried it. Hands Down.. THE BEST Mediterranean food I've ever had in my life. Better than any other place we have gone to. They gave us extra goodies on the side... hummus, a greek salad, & tzatziki salad (soooo tasty). Meat was cooked fresh so it was super HOT just how I like it. We ordered the plate with both chicken and beef lule kabobs on a bed of white rice. Definitely will be going here from now on! I recently tried this new restaurant for the first time. The food presentation was really impressive, but unfortunately, the food itself didn't quite meet my expectations. I love middle east cuisines and Persian food is among my favorite. We had Ash e reshte and Ghorme Sabzi which i never had before. It was a kind of food with beans and vegetables and rice. Was very tasty! Prices were decent as well! Thumbs up! read more
