Build your own bowl
Brett N.

Why 5 stars? Because I think this will be the Carrollwood restaurant I frequent the most. --- --- --- While there are certainly other restaurants that I love to pig out at, SoFresh combines healthiness with their deliciousness, which means I can eat here a lot more often than I can stuff my face with sushi or BBQ. I have been to other SoFresh locations in the area and loved them, so when I heard we were getting one in Carrollwood, I was incredibly excited. For my first trip (on the second day they were open) I built my own bowl and thought everything was great. There were several different types of combinations I'd like to go back and try on the build-your-own side, as well as plenty of great pre-arranged concoctions on the menu. I was especially impressed by how smooth things operated after being officially open for about 24 hours before I stopped in. I will definitely be back and be back often!

Very good food , leaves you satisfied & full without feeling like A FAT PIECE OF SHIT. Also, loved the customer service. The girl who took my order brought the order to me since I had my dog in the car :)

This was my bowl from today .. only filled one side of the bowl and bacon.

I always come to this location just because it's pretty central. I had never had a bad experience until today 4/12/22 I walked in at around 5:20 and the young lady at the counter just looked like she did not want to be there. She didn't greet anyone, ignored that anyone was there for at least 2 minutes and when she came back to the register she just stood there without saying anything. Beyond awkward experience that even the lady behind me looked at me wondering what was wrong with the girl. I ordered my regular bowl (Cali bowl, with No Bacon, no lettuce, and just add onions) well when I got back to my office there was bacon on my bowl, less than half of an avocado or less than the serving I always get, barely any rice, or quinoa. The taste was still great ... but just this one experience was good enough not to come back. I order no bacon for a reason and it's not strips that you could easily remove, it's little bits that go all over the food. So I paid $13 for a really bad experience. I am attaching the photos here in hopes that someone will see this experience and hopefully have a discussion.

Literally pick up your order without having to even make eye contact with a soul!

Okay so this was 50% off because it was the grand opening which is amazing. But I really didn't want that to affect my overall impression of this location. So I waited. And when I woke up this morning and ate my leftovers over the sink I could officially determine this was FIVE DANG STARS. I ordered through the app and picked up my meal without having to make eye contact with anyone. This would be ideal on days when I'm grumpy but it's also great for people like my brother, introverted souls who detest small talk. The app allows you to customize down to every detail. The up-charges for add ons are kinda cray. So be careful adding items. For example a lemon wedge costs .75 LOL. But even for the price I feel this is pretty valuable. A full meal and then some that I could feel really happy about.

GREEK (no tomato with romaine sub for spinach)

My intention was to place an order online. After making my selection, the site said it needed to text me a verification pin on my phone. I put in my number and then nothing. I tried and retried and still nothing. We are already off to a bad start. I waited until this location opened and when I called, it said the number was disconnected! Maybe this was a sign I should order lunch from elsewhere...? If I didn't already collect lunch orders from my team, I would have cut my losses there. I tried the number one more time and a girl picked up. I told her the website didn't work and asked if it was okay to submit an order over the phone. She said sure. I ordered 6 custom bowls. Then I was late to picking it up due to little office fires everywhere. I called her back to let her know I was running late and she said don't worry about it. The bowls were finally picked up, disbursed out, and I'm happy to report all bowls were filled per custom order and everyone had rave reviews. I ordered the Greek bowl and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the combination of their Greek medley. The portions were very generous too. I actually had mine as two meals. Not only was the food tasty but it's also healthy for you. Try SoFresh!!

I downloaded their app to place a lunch time salad, broth and crimson berry herbal iced tea. I ordered extra avocado and baby spinach in my salad instead of including another kind of protein. The order was to be delivered. The service was completed quickly. One thing about the app is I wished there was a field to communicate with the driver the directions to my home, as GPS sends to the wrong street. The order arrived inside a nice bag. Only the tea was missing from my order. Not sure who dropped the ball as the items we're highlighted. The salad was a nice size and yet I'm not sure if there was extra spinach and avocado. It was my first time to order from SF so I have nothing to compare it to other than their advertising menu pictures. The broth I received was too salty. I just got home from my dr appt and my BP was high and we all know that high sodium is not a good thing for BP. I tried to contact the delivery person with no response. Then I call the store and received a message saying no one was available to take my call. Instead I left a message to give my payment source a credit for the missing tea. Maybe I'll go inside next time or perhaps give the delivery service one last try. 3 starts - 1 for fast service, 1 for tasty salad even if the extra spinach and avocado wasn't there. Sorry I forgot to take pic before adding this review.; 1 for receiving a nice size soup, even if it is too salty for my taste and BP. I want to eat right and better to help with lowering my high BP. Doctor's orders!

Comfort Bowl, added green peppers and tomatoes

Awesome clean food option. So fresh, check it out. There's a lot of customizable bowls, wraps and salads that offer a variety of organic and fresh ingredients. Everything is made to order and they make your food fairly quick. This is definitely fast casual. We recently enjoyed a comfort bowl and a tulum quesadilla. Service is great. Check this place out!

I've actually had CAVA before, but it had been a few years since the last time I went, so I was excited to try it again. We both ended up getting bowls, and everything tasted super fresh and flavorful. I got arugula and brown rice as my base with harissa honey chicken, tzatziki and hummus, plus corn, pickled onions, pita crisps, pita chips on the side, and the yogurt dill sauce. Everything mixed together so well and had a really good balance of flavors and texture. The harissa honey chicken had a really good sweet and spicy flavor without being too overpowering. For my drink, I mixed the blueberry lavender drink with lemonade and it was SO good and refreshing. My mom got the garlic dressing on her bowl and I highly recommend trying it because it was really flavorful and paired well with everything. The portions were great, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the whole meal felt light but still filling. Definitely a place I'd come back to again!

This is just an update from my review of last night. I don't know how it's possible but I think it may have even been better the second day. Trust me when I say ... I eat more pizza than almost anyone. I've been to hundreds and hundreds of pizza shops all over the world including Italy. I also have been making pizza at home for the past 10 years. This pizza is it !

No drink refills, and we had to flag someone down just to get our check and to-go boxes. We started with a Caesar salad after finding out the octopus carpaccio (which we were excited to try) had run out -- the salad was fine but pretty unremarkable. We also ordered the Montecristo pizza with burrata, which looked great in theory, but the burrata was not evenly distributed -- piled onto one side, leaving the rest of the pizza bare. The crust itself was floppy with no real flavor -- no standout sauce or seasoning. Honestly, I think I could make a better pie at home on my Gozney. Our friends weren't impressed either -- the lasagna was underwhelming, and the cheese pizza they ordered (with a request for extra cheese) came out with no extra cheese at all. Disappointing overall, especially given the price point and the reviews. Might try again someday to see if it was an off night, but not in a rush to go back.

An Italian spin on Cooper's Hawk? Yes, please!…read more The moment the sign went up on this building during construction, I eagerly anticipated this place because I knew it was owned by Cooper's Hawk. We're wine club members, and always enjoy our meals at their location near International Plaza, so the idea of having a Piccolo Buco opening up closer to us in Carrollwood was quite exciting! Let's start at the beginning. My husband and I were fortunate enough to visit Piccolo Buco for their soft opening preview event before they opened to the public, so we were able to try some of their items at no charge. We were limited to ordering from specific menus so their kitchen could get used to making a variety of dishes. Unfortunately for us, our menus were pretty much limited to pizza, pizza, and more pizza. Don't get me wrong, the pizzas were tasty... but since we could each order an appetizer and an entree, and the pizzas were in both of those sections, we didn't actually have a ton of choice. But you can't really complain about free food, so we had a lot of leftovers. During that meal, we had the yellow tomato bisque, the classic margherita pizza (with red tomato sauce), the charred pepperoni pizza (with red tomato sauce), and spicy pepperoni (with yellow tomato sauce). It was a little comical to see three pizzas on our table for two. And while these may LOOK like personal pizzas, don't let that fool you... these are filling. The pizzas were tasty, though I will say the yellow tomato sauce is a bit bland for a pizza. I'd recommend sticking to the red sauce, personally. However, the yellow tomato bisque was fantastic! A bit after they opened to the public, I returned on my own for lunch one day, and got to try their meatball sandwich, which comes with your choice of side (I chose the Caesar salad). FYI, their sandwiches are a lunch-only item, so they're only served until 3:30 pm. Both the sandwich and salad were pretty good, though I'd probably try the chicken parm sandwich next time. Most recently, my husband and I came here for a midday lunch, and split a lunch-only salad (I wish I could remember the name, but it had mixed greens, a vinaigrette dressing, croutons, shaved cheese, kalamata olives, red onion, mozzarella, and a pesto drizzle). This salad was phenomenal! We couldn't stop raving about it... that is, of course, until our entree arrived: the truffle fondue cappellacci. You guys, this honestly might be the best pasta I've ever eaten. My mouth is watering just remembering this dish. It's a cheese-stuffed pasta with black truffle brown butter, aged balsamic, toasted pistachios, and a light honey drizzle. We practically licked the plate clean. How much did we like that pasta? Enough to come back for dinner the very next day and order it again. This time, we split the cappellacci and the braised short ribs. Now, my go-to dish at Cooper's Hawk is the short rib, so I was interested to compare them. I think the flavoring of the Piccolo Buco version is better; however, I didn't love the polenta it's served with, whereas it comes with mashed potatoes at Cooper's Hawk. That being said, Piccolo Buco's salmon is served with roasted Yukon gold potatoes, so I might ask if I could swap the sides on my next visit. For dessert, we've tried both the chocolate hazelnut cake (I'm a sucker for anything Nutella-adjacent) and the crostada (this is always on the dessert menu, but the fruit it's served with is seasonal... as I write this, it's peach and blueberry, but when I visited, it was brown butter apple and chestnut). Both of these desserts are quite good, but the crostada is easily the better of the two. I'm hoping I can try the peach and blueberry version, because that sounds lovely! Oh, and just as Cooper's Hawk has their barrel reserve wine, Piccolo Buco has their Buca Riserva, a Super Tuscan-style blend. It's delicious, and you can always ask for a sample of any of their wines before you commit.
