Usually visit Someburros when I'm in the Phoenix area. Pretty solid chimichanga for a quick service place but if you want rice and beans it's extra. Really good red and green sauces. Breakfast cheese enchiladas with green sauce and over medium eggs on top is killer. Service is good but occasionally takes a little while to get your food. Decent chips and hot sauce to munch on while you wait. For the Phoenix area it's pretty typical decent food but compared to the blandness of Tex-Mex in north Texas where I live, it's pretty incredible in comparison. read more

You know, I actually like Some Burros. The restaurant is always clean. They use no lard in their food, so that is a plus. Their hot sauce is tasty. You are not charged for chips. They have counter service with a smile... All the food runners are pleasant and helpful. The prices are low. The food tastes fresh. Their tortillas are actually yummy and you can order a pack of tortillas to go. Is this fine dining? No way. It is a step up from Qdoba and several steps up from Filiberto's. Four stars because for this type of food, it is one of my favorites. Is it Gallo Blanco? Of course not. It is not meant to be. It is quick service, with a family atmosphere. My bf told me that this is the best Mexican food place that's good around here. He particularly likes their chimichanga. I decided to order something simple like 3 rolled tacos. You can't really mess up on that since it's so easy to make, right? I didn't like the rolled taco shell, it was very hard and wasn't very tasty. The meat inside was good. I just tore apart the shell and ate the meat inside only. The rice was pretty good, that's usually my favorite. When you order, they give you chips and a bottle of their hot sauce or salsa which I didn't find spicy at all. Overall, I've had better Mexican food elsewhere. Their rolled tacos aren't really anything special. I mean the ones you find frozen at Costco tastes way better than the ones I had. Not authentic Mexican food. They should have a variety of hot sauces/salsas like most Mexican places does. When you order, they give you a number to put on your table and your meal gets delivered to you. 3.5 stars- Always super busy, usually only one cashier taking orders. Chips are a hit and miss, sometimes they are fresh, other times you get the bottom of the barrel chips that have sat in warming drawer for who knows how long and are stale and greasy. Salsa they provide you with is pretty good. We usually always order the machaca chimi with green sauce. Pretty tasty- although more often than not beef is way under seasoned and not enough green sauce. I have had their tamales (seasonal item) pretty good as well, but way too little meat to masa ratio. Albóndigas soup is also pretty tasty. I recently started using their online ordering system and drive thru pick up window. Best thing ever! I order ahead of time roll through the pick up window and my order has always been hot and ready. So convenient! read more

Its Sat night, and we have ran around all day and the last thing I wanted to do was cook some dinner, so I asked my son and daughter what do they want for dinner and they just looked at me with the deer in the headlight look, so I knew it was up to me to find the place. I remembered that Some Burros was next to the Chandler Mall, now I have had Some Burros before, use to work near by the one on baseline & mill & sometimes work has them cater events, and once the thought Some Burros got into my head I was craving their hot sauce, have you tried it yet? Omg it's a good hot sauce, goes perfectly with chips and food. So I told them that's where I am headed, so off we went. My daughter ordered 2 beef tamales with red sauce & beans & rice, my son had the carne asada burro with beans & rice and they both liked their dish, my son even said he will go back, and that's a big deal because he is a picky teenager haha I had the pollo fundino, the chunks of chicken were very tender, the flour tortilla was fried perfectly, not too hard & not to soft, oh but that jalapeno cream cheese is to die for! I really feel like a traitor writing this review because it is my friend's favorite restaurant. That's why I'm giving it a three instead of a two. I ordered the taco salad. Halfway through the salad I bit into a sharp toothpick. I took it to the counter and they made me another one but the experience was already ruined. I should have asked for my money back and left. I took a few bites and threw it away. Even if I hadn't found the toothpick, the salad was still disappointing. They hadn't drained the meat before they dipped it into the fried tortilla bowl and the whole bottom was soggy. It looked like the shredded beef had been dipped directly out a boiling pot with no browning and no seasoning. Totally flavorless. Muy mal. read more

I never have a problem finding something good to eat at Someburros. Some of my favorite items to eat here are the tacos. The shell is perfectly crispy, with juicy shredded chicken (or beef), and even better when you put the hot sauce/salsa on it. Another favorite is the rod burro, which is a huge burrito filled with chorizo and beef enchilada style. In addition to tasty eats, they have refreshing horchata to go with your meal. read more

This place is convenient and that's really it. The only thing that is somewhat decent is the chips and guacamole. I feel like their meat has a strange flavor to it so it's hard for me to enjoy any dish here. So I work right down the street from this place and I eat lunch here at least once a week. The set up of this place is somewhat unique. When you walk in, you walk up to the counter to order your food. If you order a combo meal they give you tortilla chips and this really good hot salsa. When your food is ready they bring it out to you. I always get the same thing here: veggie burro without cheese or tomatoes, add extra cilantro. The burro is a pretty decent size and it's full of delicious pinto beans, cilantro, avocado, and onions. I can get that and a small drink for $7, which is not bad. The staff is usually very friendly and welcoming and the place is kept pretty clean. It is good for small-medium sized groups as there is ample seating and booths. To be honest, I have not tried a lot of items at Someburros but what I have tried would not bring me back for more. On my last visit I had asked the cashier what he would recommend on the menu. He gave me a few of his favorites and I decided to go with the machaca shredded beef burro with red sauce. We also got chips and salsa with our order. When the burrito came out it was hot and when I cut into it, it shot out piping hot liquid right on my lap. Not necessarily the burritos fault but still not a good start. The burrito itself was a salt disaster. The amount of salt in burrito tasted as though they went over to the pacific ocean, dipped it in a few times and let it dry. The salt lick burrito is what it should be called. I know that sounds harsh but it is an accurate description, at least on this visit. The good thing is that the manager did replace it with a bean and cheese burrito. It was okay. I would not come back for it. The service was good so they do deserve credit for that. Mostly I just feel like things are prepared before hand, frozen and then reheated. I'm sure that is the case in many restaurants like this but unfortunately Someburros just does not do well. I might be back to try other items and to give them another shot. But for now, I'm just not feeling it. read more

Tried to order a party plater and they said it will take 2 hours to make.....What!! I ordered 2 party platers on Friday Cesar took my order and made it happen. Sad some of the managers dont care about the business. They were not even busy. No people on line, maybe 3 busy table's in the dining room. The only reason I didn't give it one star is because of the other locations. I love Someburro's and the food is great, but the Chandler location SUCKS. I honestly think this location only does well because of the mall traffic. I will NEVER be back to this location. I don't know who the manager is but Tim V. you need a major over haul on this location. I met my family for dinner on the 29th. Not crowded. My sister was finishing up ordering as I waited in line next. My order was taken. I had to ask for my receipt. We went to our table. My sister had her food for 3 come out fairly quickly. My food for 3 was over 15 minutes behind (even though I ordered right after her). The complete order did not come out. After the young man served our order, I told him we were missing a #9 taco meal combo. He acknowledged that it was missing but took the numbers from our table anyways and said it would be out soon. Many people who had been in after me were all getting served. Since it was apparent that they did not know they needed to get me another #9, I had to go up to the counter and ask for my taco meal. The workers were clueless. I asked that my meal and my son's #9 be comped since my meal was now interrupted and my son's is not even showing signs of coming out and everyone else at my table was done eating. I don't believe I spoke to a manager but a guy who appeared in charge did take my receipt and credit back the meals. The meal came out and it was served. The next day my son got very sick and while I cannot prove food poisoning, I do think it suspect that he got sick the very next morning very early after eating a plate that came out late and it was known that I complained. Unfortunately, the customer service has gotten so bad at this location (Chandler)with rude kids, no attention to detail, screwed up orders etc. that today was out last visit. Honestly just really bad customer service. Ordered food and a Togo margarita with my sister . Went to go pickup the order and the girl at the drive through told me because the order wasn't under my name (it was in my sisters with the same last name) I couldn't get the margarita. That would have been fine but when I asked for a refund for the 20$ drink she gave me a lot of push back . I made it clear I wasn't leaving without the drink or the refund and I was told by her that she was "just doing her job" and "to not use that tone of voice with her". I'll admit I was stern but nothing near rude. I just wanted either what was paid for or a refund ? She ended up giving me the drink ... so obviously it wasn't a big deal. Should've have been a problem in the first place since I'm well over 21 with valid ID :) ... asked for a straw for the slushy margarita . She said she was not allowed to give me a straw even though the lid of the drink was taped over in two places . Someburros has some tasty Mexican food, but it's usually hell trying to eat inside. If you're okay with a bunch of bratty kids running around and screaming all over the place, then this is the place for you. Other than that, their shredded beef tacos and open cheese crisps are delicious. I don't really understand why they don't throw in chips with to-go orders when they're complimentary inside - especially since you're paying the same amount that you'd pay inside without leaving a table full of dirty plates. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had here. The wait for food was over 40mins. The order was not typed in correctly. When the MOD, Trevor was approached about the poor service and time, he simply shrugged his shoulders and walked away without giving a damn. The only reason I would give a single star is for Johana the Assist MOD. Poor thing was busting ass and get bad for our poor experience. In the end she tried to make it right by refunding our order. There are quite a few Someburros in the valley, but this is by far the best one!! We used to come here about once a month, but they are so nice that now we come several times week! Cesar, the manager, has gotten to know us and makes sure we are always happy. Tonight we met Angelica, Jessa, and Kenia, and they were all super friendly and kind. I'm giving 2 stars. I like the food here and I've had good service in the past, but bad service here was a big disappointment tonight. I called in a fiesta platter for my husband's birthday party. I called in at 12pm, they said I could pick it up at 5:30. I showed up and they had no record even though they'd asked how to spell my name and told me when to pick up. It was 5:30 when I showed up, they said they could make my order at 7. We're ordering pizza I guess... and I drove from Ahwatukee. I wouldn't rely on this location for a party again. Which is a shame. The food is good. They also did nothing to make it right and did not apologize . I don't like to give bad reviews, but I hope the location will learn and grow. This place has the tacos I've been searching for. You know? The kind that I was raised with: Fried shells but not the preshaped nasty Taco Bell shells. It's beautiful. It's always going to be a win when a place immediately reminds you of good childhood memories. I've attempted to try other menu items and they're all yummy.
